We came for our anniversary! My wife and I loved the dark mood lighting and the lite music playing in the background. We dropped into Jack's Chophouse, hoping to find a seat since we hadn't made a reservation. We grabbed two seats at the bar, and were served by Allison, one of the bartenders. We started with Caesar salad, and it was divine--the dressing was definitely homemade. My husband ordered a steak, which he said was delicious! I had the Chicken Parmesan, which was excellent. Wonderful restaurant, especially for happy hour. We have come several times and Amanda was our server. She was perfect -helpful without being over bearing. I really like the Monroe cocktail and the wine. The sliders, wings, wedge salad and burrito caprese are all good. The bread is also very good. The antipasto platter with the lasagna is also good for several people. The atmosphere is very nice with good music and decor. I've enjoyed Jacks with girlfriends or with my husband. We drove from Houston and this was our first stop in town. When we walked in (no reservation) we were greeted immediately with a friendly welcome and a warm smile. The ambiance was great! The food was excellent and the drinks were great too. But the best part was our waiter: server Kyle was friendly, funny, and attentive throughout the evening. First of you have to pay to make reservations $20 dollars per person. That should have been my first clue. The place was well manicured and dressed like an old Hollywood bar. I expected an old Italian wise guy to be there. They had us wait for our table, not good when you have reservations. Our server seemed a little of put at first but warmed up towered the end. There to celebrate a birthday. Our meals were pricey and not worth the doe. I was surprised when I checked the bill to see the Cheesecake was on the bill for the birthday girl. Fiance had the shrimp scampi and loved it. For sides we shared the mashed potatoes and asparagus. Finished both. Their use of oven roasted garlic elevated each dish. Probably one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to in my life. The quality of the meat is atrocious. The NY strip was almost completely inedible. I had to spit it out at one point. Half the steak was pure gristle and fat. It was disgusting. I could've bought a better cut of meat at the discount grocery store for a 10th of the price. The shrimp smelled fishy as well. Everything we had that was NOT protein was edible but I obviously expected better quality meat from a "chop house". Total waste of money and it was insanely overpriced. The dessert was not good either. Really, it was a horrible experience all around. I heard a gentleman at the next table over complaining about his steak as well. And to any ladies that are considering dining here - do about 5 minutes of research on the owner's criminal history and consider taking your money elsewhere. read more

HORRENDOUS FOOD AND SERVICE!!! Pizza Hut would have been better! Sunday night reservation Arrived at 5:20 pm On our wedding night.....yes our first meal out after a morning wedding.. Our server was so slow and inattentive that we had to flag down anyone for water, ordering drinks and to get our orders placed. It wasn't just with our table, it was a room of painfully slow service and frustrated people. Begging anyone who happened to come by, is not a way to enjoy your first meal as a couple. Seeing nobody enter the room for service resulted in utter frustration and anxiety. Then, the fish was so overcooked that I had to put mash potatoes on every bite to swallow it followed by a big gulp of water. I begged anyone to refill my water glass to just get through the meal. Begging for 4 glasses of water was the main experience of the night. At this point, left over wedding cake sounded better than gagging down one more dried out bite. I wanted to leave. We had to beg 4 different people for the check. It was horrible service as everyone was too busy to help out. We waited in the corner caught like animals trying to get out of a hot mess Sunday dinner proud. Oh such a nice experience to the very end of our nightmare out. I couldn't have been more miserable and it ruined our wedding day. Quietly, I told one of the team membera that this was my wedding celebration dinner. He was shocked and knew. We had Meg(an) as our waitress and she was so personable and helpful with all of our questions! We started with the Mexican martini, mojito, shrimp cocktail, and warm bread. (Husband wanted the bread and I'm not mad about it after trying it...) For our mains we shared the delicious mashed potatoes (so garlicky, yum), asparagus, bone in filet mignon and New York strip. We checked in 15 minutes early (to be prompt and also we were hungry) and they were able to seat us. Megan was our server and was awesome, polite, attentive and friendly. Wife got the Filet and I got the Ribeye and we got the potatoes au gratin and roasted carrots. Really enjoyed my birthday dinner here. Everyone on the staff was super welcoming and made sure to wish me a happy birthday. We started with the sausage stuffed mushrooms, which we both enjoyed. I only wish there were a few more mushrooms for this appetizer. For the main course, I ordered one of the evening specials, which included a T-bone steak and several grilled shrimp, while my wife enjoyed the NY strip. Both were cooked to perfection at medium rare and medium, respectively. Each steak also sat in bed of rich garlic butter. Finally, we shared the candied Brussel sprouts, which like most sides, is intended to serve 2-3. For dessert, we opted for the banana foster NY cheesecake, which was also quite good. Other than food, we enjoyed a few cocktails, especially the Manhattan and New York Sour, and I ended my dinner the only way one should... a warm, refreshing shot of espresso. Visited this week and we took a chance without a reservation! The host gladly found us an available table but I do recommend a reservation as the place gets full! I ordered a mocktail and was somewhat disappointed. The Bellini seemed watered down a with no flavoring. The bread and dipping oil was very good! The bread was fresh and warm. I also ordered a wedge salad. This is my salad of choice at all establishments! It was the perfect combination of crisp lettuce, blue cheese dressing, pecans and candied bacon! It was so good! We opted for the tomahawk steak. The menu recommends to order it medium rare but it mostly comes out on the dish as rare. I am ok with rare since that is always my preference but my fiancée prefers medium rare. Kyle, great server by the way, made the perfect recommendation about the steak. He recommended we flip it in the sizzling plate and rare will soon be medium... perfect sense! In my opinion the steak was not seasoned well. I was expecting a tasty seasoning to complement the temp of the steak. I was disappointed. I was tempted to ask for salt and pepper but I did not. Anyway, the garlic potatoes and mushrooms and onion sides were good. Not delicious but good. I ended the mask with a most delicious dessert! I forgot the name but will add a picture! It had ice cream, fruit compote, chocolate crust, whipped cream and cherries! I Ferrari Roche surprise was in the center of it all! We were seated in the back section and apparently the only table our waiter had there as he kept running from kitchen to front room tables w/o noticing me waving for over 15 minutes to get more lemons for our calamari. Asked hostess for our waiter and instead she assigned another waiter to us who was working our room. Definitely an improvement. Filet and NY strip order MedRare both came out overcooked on cold plates. Crème brûlée's was watery. The good: Ambience was wonderful! read more

We hurried here after arriving in Fredericksburg to get there in time for Happy hour. Of course there were no seats at the Bar at 5:15 on a Tuesday. But they let us sit at a table in the bar area. We each had a specialty HH cocktail. Then we ordered the HH special prime rib sandwich to split. Note there IS a deal on Yelp for 10% off your bill with check in and we did ask our waitress about it -she was going to send over the manager, but never did. We didn't push it since we were already getting HH specials and splitting something. The sandwich was surprisingly good, and if I lived in Fredericksburg, I would go back for it again and again. We checked online and saw open reservations, even called, but never received a response. So, we drove over to see what the issue was--only to be told they were fully booked. To make matters worse, the hosts laughed in my wife's face and told me to "try next time." No effort was made to accommodate us. As a fairly new restaurant, I would expect better business etiquette. My wife and I run a business ourselves, and we know the customer should always come first. I left feeling truly disappointed, because we were excited to try this place and give it a chance. Although they want to claim a NY steakhouse , they lack the proper service to make this happen. We had to ask for silverware when steak came, refills of water glasses. Then our peppercorn sauce never arrived until we asked ! Finally a "lead -waitress " came and apologized but spoke so loud it was embarrassing!! She and our server at best should only , work at a Dennys ! I've been to top NY steakhouses and this is not even close when it comes to service !
