It was a dark, stormy night with a nor'easter blowing off the ocean- what a great night to go out to a wonderful sports bar with a wide variety of beers and tasty food! This was my first visit and I must say it was long overdue. Being a native of Long Branch, I used to go to a lot of the spots on Brighton Avenue and in West End, and have always wanted to visit Jack's on one of my return visits. I finally got the chance this evening and even though it was in the midst of a storm, the wait staff was wonderful the food was outstanding and I really enjoyed my time there. I had buffalo wings dialed up to hot and the owners box file mignon sliders. Both courses were cooked to perfection and were just as I had hoped they would be. My friend and I dined here in September 2020 and recently someone told me that they also had a bad experience so I thought I would submit a review. The wings were not mixed with the sauce properly and we couldn't even blame it on the fact that the place was busy because it was 100% empty and nobody was picking up any orders. My friend said that they received their food cold and never saw their waitress after the food was dropped off. This is a place for young people to go and drink, not those of us who are "Of a certain age." That's all there is to it, go there if you are a drinker. read more

Had the pleasure of hanging at Jacks for a little Sunday Football fun. Arrived around 12:30 for the 1pm game and the bars were already packed. We were lucky enough to get a table in the back of the restaurant near a tv showing the game we wanted to watch. The perimeter of this place is literally lined with flat screened tvs. Awesome. Enjoyed watching the game here. Sunday's Jacks offers $5 wings - got three orders. BBQ and garlic....really good. A lot of drumsticks! Guacamole and chips decent, not sure it was fresh though. Needed salt, lime juice, cilantro and onion -but still finished it....wish they used fresh salsa. Pizza was also $5 and was good as well..... I've probably been to Jacks maybe eight times but have never reviewed it. I've had good and service in the past, but last night (Wednesday) the service was phenomenal. More about that later. To my knowledge their beer selection is the second largest in the county next to Maloneys with ales and lagers of all types apropos for the season. While the service may vary their high beer count doesn't. For a great beer joint you would expect the food to be mediocre to good, but their food has never let me down. Haven't had anything that wasn't very good yet. The wings are great. Haven't tried the ribs but others I've talked to say they are very good. The sandwiches are good too, but for me I love their pizzas. They always come out hot with a nice crisp crust. Last night I had a white spinach pie that excelled. My wife had the chicken nachos that were probably too big for two people to eat. They too were excellent. I know some people don't like to sit at a bar and have dinner. I don't know if that's because there isn't enough room or what, but you definitely get the best service there. Among other things you don't have to wait for your wait person. The bartender is usually a few feet away. My wife and I sat at the bar where our two bartenders couldn't do enough for us. Brian and Mike were courteous, friendly, funny, and quite attentive. They provided information about the beers and suggestions according to our tastes. They offered us plenty of samples of beer and seemed more than happy to do it. I realize that had it been a Friday night when the bar staff were mobbed, it would have been impossible for them to spend the time with us that they did. But this review is about last night and we enjoyed every bit of it. read more

We went down to south jersey and stopped at Jack's and the experience was better than ever! Kind staff amazing server, clean facility, and great atmosphere! The general manager manny (maybe that's his name) saw our wings and we ate them and enjoyed them, but he wasn't satisfied with how they looked and took our almost half eaten wings and made us a fresh order! Had a great time last night at Jacks! You can never go wrong with any of their specials...my go to is the chicken lettuce tacos. The drinks are always great too! The staff is always accommodating and our waiter last night Nick was awesome! He made sure we always had a full glass of beer and was always checking on us. The tables are spaced out and all of the staff had their masks on the entire time. I highly recommend jacks if you want to have a sit down dinner or take out it is always my go to place!! Love this place! Great food, selection of brews, and service. The wings are killer, i highly recommend the chipotle bbq (d-lish but messy) and the garlic. Burgers and sides are above average for a bar/restaurant of this type. The ribs are "fall off the bone." Late night it is a good local hangout yet daytime and dinner is rather family friendly. My fantasy football buddies and I prefer this place for football watching. My ONLY complaint is that since covid, they have removed the videos and "win everytime" crane machines that would keep my kids occupied while the adults could relax over drinks and apps. Now, they instead have a bunch of extra tables in the back, not particularly fancy or comfy. So I'm less inclined to come with my kiddos because they really looked forward to those games. Last night I tried to go to jacks around 8 pm. My boyfriend was excited to watch the Yankees game and a few of my friends from college were in town visiting so we were hopeful to get some good food and drinks, this soon became not possible at jacks I want to preface this by saying, I was born on February 2, 1994 meaning I will turn 24 February. My two friends from school have out of state ids (as do I) and are 22 and 25. Additionally we went to a school that issued student ids without our birthdays on them, only a picture. Meaning, I have no other form of id besides my passport that has my birthday and face on it, and like most I do not walk around day to day with my passport on me. We approached the bouncer who checked our ids and told us they wanted to double check my id, this is not the first time this has happened so I agreed and we followed him. The bouncer then continued to aggressively bend my id and looking at me back and forth, never once asking me any questions about it like where I am from, birthday, etc. By now over 10 minutes has passed all we really want to do is watch the Yankees game and eat some nachos, maybe some wings. He then furthered the investigation by comparing it to a book that bouncers use to identify fakes with. This even had happened to me a few times so I was hopeful I would soon get in and we would be on our way. I asked if they had a scanner and if they could scan my id like federal liquor stores in PA do, however the bouncer responded that scanners are illegal because they store information without consent. As someone with a computer science degree/ who works in the tech industry (or anyone with a brain really would know) I know this simply is not true, while old scanners may have operated that way they do make legit scanners that bars, can buy and that the state of PA uses regularly in their state liquor stores. After a few more minutes, a second bouncer came and they brought out a wallet full of fakes and began comparing my id to fakes they had confiscated. After speaking back and forth to each other they finally spoke to me and said "this is fake get out of the bar", my license was in their hands still. I was livid, as I really think anyone would be, of course my license isn't fake but now you're going to take it from me? I truly did nothing wrong in this situation, what gives your bouncer the right to take my id, because they think it's fake, unbelievable. At this point we asked to speak to a manager and they just keep telling us to get out, but they still had my id. After a few minutes of pleading, which is utterly disgusting that I had to beg for an item lawfully issued by the government to be given back to me, they gave me my id and told us to leave. Jacks staff insisted on our way out the door that the bouncer was "the best in town" and ultimately stated they had the authority to let whoever they want into the bar and simply "did not feel comfortable letting me in". I am extremely saddened by how the whole situation was handled by the jacks staff and hope your bouncers can use this as an educational experience and admit they were wrong. I do hope I get an apology but after witnessing the staffs poor manners through the whole endeavor I am less than hopeful. read more

Amazing frozen mojitos and sangrias. They have really great drinks!! I don't usually go for frozen drinks but it was one of the best mojitos I have had and had a good amount of alcohol in it. Jack's has been a favorite for years. First as my favorite watering hole during college (I am old now so pre-renovation) and now as a go-to place for great bar food. They have the best wings in the area and great burgers, sandwiches and apps. I also really like their curbside to-go service - orders are ready very quickly (within 15-20 mins) and they bring it right out to your car in the lot behind the building. Place is legendary. I lived within close walking distance for a long time, especially watching this place grow from the small Jack's to Jack's Goal Line Stand. I used to eat here at least three times a week and never had a bad meal. Tim and Nick are amazing owners and know that it is a college bar throughout most of the year and does not pretend to be anything it's not. Security does a great job of keeping things in order. Jacks is amazing! I love their grilled wings. It's a good spot to come when Monmouth University isn't in session because there are less college students. They have an awesome selection of beers including fruit beers like strawberry, raspberry, apple cider, orange, etc. The service is somewhat slow when it's busy so keep that in mind! The hipster bartenders were more focused on chatting with other workers taking a break, than they were on us customers. I've been coming here for years. It's my favorite local bar for a number if reasons. Their beer selection is fairly large with a great variety. And every beer is served in a pint. The food is pub grub, but there's also a wide range of choices that includes pizza and light stuff. I can never come for a visit without an order of the Red Hot Wings. So I come here A LOT and every single time I have the same exact experience -- the bartenders are great, the food is good, drinks are fairly priced and decent, but the waitress service is AWFUL!! I was seated the other night and waited a FULL TWENTY MINUTES for the server to come over!! That's insane. That's not even the worst that's happened-- there was one time I actually walked out because no one EVER came over -- and I live 30 minutes away so I was upset about that. It's always impossible to find your server again after your food is delivered so ask for anything and everything you could possibly need while you can. Overall I really love Jacks, their wings, their awesome selection of fruity beers and cheap drinks. But their wait staff needs to be retrained and they need to hire a few extra people to speed up service. read more

We met up with hubs cousin and her husband for some brews and grub. We found street parking, but I'm not sure where else you can park. Lot across street is for bank and one next to it us for the restaurant. Good luck!? When we walked in I was impressed by the size and amount of space. They had about 50 beers on tap which was cool. It was lit up really well unlike most bars. Bathroom ran out if toilet paper like around 9. And it got very dirty. Place started to get packed w college kids around 1030. We left around 1130. My first impression as I'm reading the tap list is that I wasn't extremely impressed with the sections. My husband ordered me a warlock double, the bartender brought it over and was a complete jerk. And continued to be throughout the night, not just to us but to his coworkers too. It was really unattractive and unnecessary. Strike 1 On to the beer, the taste was way different than any other time id drank it, watery almost, less hoppy or flavorful. My husband noted the same and said they needed to clean their lines to the kegs. Strike 2 I got grilled chicken Sammie. It was ok. Patron next to me shared a slice of his pizza. It was really good. That's why they get 2 stars. 2 stars for pizza. On to strike 3.. Strike 3 came again with the employees, when the bill came - they were very shady about how they charged us for samplers. And when requested to explain the bill, they all - like 4 bartenders - got involved and were rude. samplers are $6 for 3-7 oz pours of your choice of beer w a $1 upcharge for select beers however, No one told us that were up charged twice on the same samplers. And it likely wouldn't have been a problem if they rang it as a sampler. Instead it said draft $8 on our check 3 times, we only got 2 samplers so explain that. Shady shady shady. We paid bill but won't return. Way better places in the area w friendly bartenders. Customer service goes a long way people! This place isn't special. read more
