BREAKFAST Jacks Inn has been around for 30 years, and I can see why. This spot is easy to miss so keep your eyes pealed. When you walk in, there is a sign asking for you to wait to be seated. However, after about a minute of waiting, some of the staff who were sitting in a booth waved us in and welcomed us to sit where ever we would like. I am a fan of Bloody Marys, and unfortunately they do not sell alcohol here. I ordered a Large Fruit Punch ($2.25) instead. I was torn between a few breakfast options, but then my buddy noticed one of their specials. For $8.50, they had a Corned Beef Hash Loko Moko. I ordered mine with fried rice. So now I basically got corned beef hash, fried rice, and loco moco all in one dish. I was skeptical on the quality due to such a low price. However, the corned beef hash was clearly homemade and quite excellent. We were both thrilled with this find today. Hopefully this is always a special they have. He also ate a Half Order of Kim Chee Fried Rice ($8.50) and it was HUGE. I really thought it was a mistake and that they gave him a full order but I was wrong. He said it was average in flavor, which isn't a bad thing. It wasn't amazing and wasn't terrible. The service was great. No Kama'aina discount available, but with how amazingly affordable everything was, there is no need for any discounts. Please note that Jacks Inn accepts only cash. When you are finished eating, walk up to the cash register and tell them your table number and they will ring you up there. While I sometimes complain about places not accepting credit cards since I usually do not carry cash on me, I completely support Jacks Inn being a cash only place. This decision obviously helps them to keep their costs so low. Breakfast hours are 5:30 - 2 Mon through Fri, 6 - 1 Sat, and closed Sun. As far as local breakfast places, Jacks Inn is legit. This was a pleasant surprise and I am already looking forward to returning. read more

Eating my words, as I did go back but with a friend this time. Food was better this time but the service still sucked! Walked in between rushes, so finding a seat was easy and quick. Menus were on the table and had quite a variety. We were approached by the female owner, I presume, because of the way she carried herself. Nice lady but kept forgetting to refill our water cups, even when asked. She would acknowledge then go about doing something else, like wiping a table or counting money. Same with one of the young guy waiters. I'm all for Mom and Pop shops and would rather patronize these places over the national chains, but no matter where I go, i gauge the service by if I have water to drink. It baffles me how such a small place with 3 servers can continuously forget to refill water cups. Here's a hint: as a former waiter, when you're walking around, look around. If you see near empty or empty water cups on a table, grab a pitcher and walk around the restaurant to refill cups! Chances are others need water too! I remember doing this at restaurants I worked at which were twice as big and twice as busy and still able to do my side tasks! Food was decent but wait was kind of long, about 15 minutes. I get it, they had to cook my burger, which was homemade, so didn't mind waiting. Fries were cold, though, when I got it. I had the bacon cheeseburger and the bacon was crispy and made the sandwich worth it. But eating a burger and fries with nothing to drink sucked! 3 times asked for water and acknowledged and 3 times they got distracted and never came. All in all, an average review for average food and subpar service. Cash only and you have to pay at he cashier and mention your table number when you pay. We went to Jack's Inn on a recommendation. I'm glad we did. It's just two miles from the airport. It wasn't busy on Thursday at 8:00 am. We ordered banana pancakes. They were the best pancakes I have eaten! Parts of the outside were surprisingly crispy (and good!). Thick slices of banana were cooked into the batter. The texture of the pancakes was perfect - not dry or gummy, but fluffy and soft. We also ordered fried rice with an egg and a red hotdog served on the side. The fried rice was good. The portions were generous enough to share. The staff was friendly and efficient. This is my new go-to breakfast spot when I'm visiting Maui. read more

The place for breakfast in Kahului! A wind variety of traditional and local favorites for breakfast! You can pretty much get any combo of eggs ,meats, and starches served up for breakfast. Me? I like a sweet and salty combo of French toast and bacon, my husband likes eggs and meats all different ways so everyone is happy at Jacks. Our first day on Maui we decided to try one of the top rated places for breakfast.... When we got to the place it was packed with a line out the door. They are a cash only facility, I never carry cash on me-luckily my bf did... The staff was rude, they didn't even acknowledge us. We waited about 45/50 minutes for our food, which we didn't mind considering the reviews were so awesome... We wanted so badly for the food to be good but unfortunately it was not. I went to eat dry mein with another person and I couldn't eat the dry mein that was served to me and told the waiter with the curled up mustache he said that they used the drippings from the roast pork. This is your go-to mom and pop breakfast joint. Stopped by here after landing on Maui since it's close to the airport. The venue is pretty outdated, but that's what gives it the mom and pop feel. FOOD: Fry Rice Special ($6.50) - Fried rice with egg and a Maui hot dog. They give a TON of fried rice. This would be a good dish to share with others. The Maui hot dog reminded me of a Redondo hot dog....but better! Home Made Corned Beef Hash ($6.95) - with 1 Egg and choice of rice, wedges, hash brown, or toast. I chose hash brown. The corned beef hash was cooked just the way I like it where the outside of the hash patty was nice and crispy. yummm. I would definitely order this again. Very basic diner. Very good food, simply made and a range of hawaiian traditional dishes as well as more 'american diner' fare (breakfast omelettes, french toast, pancakes, etc). My family really liked the fact that many of their items come in regular and mini portions - - helps cut down on waste if you aren't able to take it home with you. The staff were very nice and attentive. Service and food were quick and came out hot. Recommend if you are looking for more authentic food, for a good price and well made. Don't be put off by the first impression look of it (in the middle of a light industrial area). Also, be aware that they are cash only (or at least that's what the sign on the door said the day we were there). read more

CASH ONLY! Saw the sign after we ordered - and since we were at the end of our vacation - we scrambled to make sure we had some cash. Luckily all was good and we got to enjoy this hidden gem. Pretty sure we were the only non locals - always a great sign. Don't be turned off by the location or the 50+ year old decor. We enjoyed a great breakfast and had amazing service. Wife had the ham & cheese omelet with crispy hash browns (perfect for her) and I loved the banana pancakes with an egg and Portuguese sausage. We had an amazing experience at Jack's during breakfast. A humble little restaurant deceivingly plain looking from the outside. First and foremost the service is second to none. I haven't felt that sense of belonging and comfortability at an eating establishment in a very long time. The older Korean woman (mother) was the absolute sweetest from the moment we sat down. She was attentive, empathetic, kind. Her two son's who work there as well radiate the same traits their mother does and it was so refreshing. On to the food, we ordered the blueberry pancakes, the dry mein, and a cheeseburger. I felt like I was being fed by my grandmother. Though no astronomical flavor, it was simple and delicious and exactly what we were craving. This all being said, we will continue to frequent Jack's as much as possible simply for the care the owners and family show. My entire day was made by my experience at Jack's that morning. read more

The prices are nice, the only real issue was that the drink machine was broken-so all they could serve was water or orange juice. I just road by this place and it brought back memories....bad ones. Here's my story of Jacks and I don't even recall the food. I just arrived in OGG and needed to grab a quick bite and some power whilst eating. No big deal right? Not at Jacks. It was like Lucifer walked in. I sat down near a phone jack (that was the only good Jack in the place) and viewed a menu. Within seconds a lady worked snapped at me like I killed a cockroach. "Unplug that!" "All I'm trying to do is power my laptop and grab lunch." "Not here!" "Can I pay for power? I will give you 2 dollars for the use of the power for a few minutes." She stormed away, got a menu and I ordered the safest thing on the menu. Probably moco loco.....got me but I just didn't want to get sick at this point. The place is a dump and I can pay so why treat me so poorly? So, I got the grub, ate and paid at the counter plus the $2. The lady was still furious at this point. I have no idea what she was going through in life and I hope she's over it but I didn't do anything and she could have been more understanding. So, you got me on the food as I can't remember but the worst and rudest service in Maui is Jacks! Avoid unless you truly hate yourself. read more

I usually don't want to give a bad review but this place has gone down hill. The place is kinda dirty the decor is really old. The food today was just okay i didn't eat much as i am not a big eater but it didn't have any Tate. We ordered the super dry mein without egg and it came out loaded with egg, they took it back and made a new one. I had the dry mein no sprouts and that was just okay. There were two other tables with customers do the place wasn't busy. They serve coca-cola products but had no coke. Customer service was okay. Yelp says its closed on Saturdays but they're open till 2. Cash only. You need to go up to the register to get your bill. I hope they do better because they had some good food in the past. read more
