Here's the thing, Although breakfast may be good anything that has to do with a cream based gravy, sauce or soup is awful. I still eat here now and them but you have to know what to order and that is the trick to this place. Also you need to have educated cooks not just someone that can cook an egg I mean someone with some knowledge and set a standard to your quality, Last time I ate here I had the Prime rib it was bland, the clam chowder was very thick the cream was separated in the soup so it was like cottage cheese. Clam chowder is a simple rue based soup and you ad cream at the end using claim juice and some use a little chicken broth to it as well. The country gravy looks the same. A little seasoning goes a long way and having a educated cook and a standard for you food will too. please come back to having a passion for your food. the pies are still good but are frozen so you have to nuke them which not everyone likes hot pie. any fruit pie is usually server warm and most likely with vanilla ice cream; lemon meringue, pecan, pumpkin, chocolate and banana cream pies are served cool or cold and having them frozen make it harder to enjoy.
The muffins and baked good are good always have been, However the chicken fried steak is not breaded it is dipped in egg and then cooked so it is just egg cooked on to the cube steak!! you dip the steak in egg wash then bread it so you have a breading that sticks to the meat when its cooked that why its called chicken fried! eating a country fried steak with egg caked around it is horrid!! Like I said you have to know what to order here But I will say they have a decent burger but don't get any steaks they are not worth the disappointment or the money now if they made it 7.99 then you would expect a mediocre steak but no they are about $14.
I would not be so passionate about this usually but we don't have many placed in bishop to eat and out of those places only a few have high standards and have consistency. I have been in the food service industry for 14 years and have went to schools, learned in the military and have received many certifications and became a Chef to our officers after going through an extensive training for 1 year on top of multiple month long courses during my time in the military. I know every inspection point and am capable of teaching and fixing issue like these for restaurants.
