Jack's Taps has a really good rotating beer selection and the power of a full Jack's menu to supplement with a good meal. The downside is that the space is small and it can fill up quickly. Went on February 12th and mistakenly made a reservation for a table but wanted happy hour. The happy hour section was full and it would have been a 1/2 hour wait. So the manager let us stay where we were at and allowed us to order from the happy hour menu. We appreciated it so much. Our waitress Samantha was very attentive and friendly. Food was excellent. We came in one night before a movie up the street to enjoy a beer and have a little conversation. It's small inside. It's a little off shoot bar area from the regular Jack's restaurant. I thought it was a very interesting idea for a large chain like restaurant to make a quaint tavern like place off to the side to bring in more cash. I had the Mosaic Promise Founder Pale Ale. Do not quote me on that because I'm not exactly sure it was called that. Seating at the bar was open so we sat. The small tables around the room were completely full. I noticed that quite a few patrons were waiting for tables in the restaurant or waiting for food to go. Taking up valuable space if you ask me. It was a nice moment to have a beer with my man but I don't know if I would come here to hang out. I just felt a little cramped and a little too busy for me as a before a movie beer. read more

Came here with a group of 4 on a busy friday night. It was gonna be about 40 minutes for a table but luckily after about 10 minutes of hanging around in the tap room a table opened up. The beers here are great and the food is even better. Even though the place was beyond packed we probably had the best service we've ever had from a great server. He was very knowledgeable and patient and completely on top of everything we asked for. The food drinks and service are great here and it's in a great downtown location. I've stopped by this bar maybe eight to ten times in the last half year while doing business in the Walnut Creek area. I appreciated the wide and interesting ale selection, including good choices of hazy ales and sours and occasional featured breweries including one from my home town. The dinner entrees are mostly good, excellent lamb chops, a decent steak, an okay pork chop, as one can order from the main dining room's menu. Tonight the bartender was one I hadn't seen before. The prior servers were attentive and accommodating and knowledge. This bartender ("Brett") pushed the ale of the week onto me, presumably because management is promoting it and has placed a two cans of it in front of the TV set in the bar. Not so good, it would have been okay had I not already had a hazy IPA, and this replicated the tastes. Then the bartender threw my unfinished ale down the sink when I asked to be closed out. Why was that? It's all about the money, Jack's. He was too damn busy flirting with the locals at the bar to pay any attention to the out-of-towner. I'M NOT COMING BACK. No reason to stay at the Hyatt House two blocks over if the local bar service is crap, either. read more

Let me preface the 4 stars by saying that it "should" be 5, I was just disappointed in the beers. If you enjoy a tap room that rotates taps and lets breweries do tap takeovers, then it gets a 5 star and you'll love it. They were recovering from a Morgan Territory tap takeover and the selection of IPA's (regular, double, triple, imperial...etc.) was blah. They have their merits; however, IPA's just aren't one. The bartender Emily gets 6 stars. She put up extremely well with our table of miscreants during a birthday get together. Food came fast, she checked on us frequently, and the guys even managed to sneak in a birthday cake when I wasn't looking. Super Con: parking in Pleasant Hill. Nice addition to downtown Pleasant Hill, and a nice extension of Jack's Restaurant! They have a great 20 tap beer selection, everything from pale to hoppy to stout. My honey and I each had two beers. I noticed that my second beer was served in a different glass (smaller) than when my honey had just ordered it as his first. We asked the beertender about it and he apologized and said he'd make it right. He poured a bit more of the beer into an even smaller glass, which brought my total up to a pint. I think my most favorite thing about this new spot is that there are two single stall bathrooms! Of course, the restaurant bathrooms are still upstairs if you're an extrovert and like to ascend and descend the grand staircase to use the facilities. We will definitely be back to enjoy another beer and possibly some snacks from the bar menu. read more

It's like Jack's beer friendly adult waiting room for a table. You can enter from the other side of the street or from Jacks. They have a bunch of beers on tap and special appetizers available. Don't feel like waiting your turn in line for the restaurant. if you get one of the three bar tables there, you can get your food there too. Staff is friendly and helpful with a good selection of beers to pick from. All pluses. Pro tip: if you see a appetizer you like on the taproom specials, order it. They have a pretty good selection, but when it comes down to it, I'd be okay if I stuck around Todos Santos area, mainly of because of convenience and I can get more selective with brew. But, if I am close to Jack's, I would make the drop in because it's not too crowded, and like I said, good selection. Plus, I can get good food from the main restaurant. They only serve wine and beer. Their beer selection is great! They have about 15 different beers on tap. Anything from a Pilsner to a dark lager. This place was slammed on Saturday morning but we were able to sneak into the Tap room. Which j thinks is a "separate" spot. The girlfriend and I had Brekky here and weren't disappointed at all. I had the chicken, waffles and two eggs with gravy (forgot the name of this) and she had an omelette. The portions are large, so buyer beware. We could have split and got a side of something. It was really good and reasonably priced. I'd love to be back here to sample some beers. Our waiter was an awesome guy and cracked us up trying to get us to take shots at 10AM... I really came here for the beer the first couple of times, their taplist is extensive and the prices are slightly better, if not on par with the Hop Grenade in concord. My third visit here was to meet friends for dinner, and I ordered a massive blue cheeseburger with sweet potato fries, it's standard fare but it was done well and at a more than reasonable price. I was staying at a nearby hotel and there were very few options for dinner on Easter Sunday. Fortunately I found Jack's. I was primarily looking just for a drink or two and appetizers. I tried the garlic fries and was not impressed (needed garlic salt instead of parts of garlic spread on the fries) but the chicken tortilla soup of the day was pretty good. The tap room is amazing!! We stopped by for a light dinner on the way back to East Bay from Anderson Valley on Saturday night. The wait time for our group (5) was around 30 mins in a restaurant, which the tap room is the satellite to, however we were able to find a table in the tap room right away! The selection of drinks is great and full restaurant menu is available in the tap room, which is a great benefit. There were around 20-25 drafts of a variety of styles so everyone in our group found smth to enjoy. As other reviews say, drafts are indeed on a pricier side, but if you're into beers and like tasting unique varieties you will not be surprised - price tag is same as in any other tap room which has rotating taps of unique local beers (~$7 for IPA, ~$10 for sour beer, ~$9 for stouts as far as I remember). I tried Mango sour from Mraz Brewing Co and Tayberry Goze from Alvarado Street Brewery in Monterey - both were amazing. We took flatbreads, coconut shrimps, fried calamari and Mediterranean plate to share, everything was very good, Mediterranean plate was our favourite. I was nice that we could get extra pita bread complimentary for it. Also it is possible to get extra servings of individual dips, which you like the most (hummus, tzatziki or tabbouleh). Additional thanks for bartenders - they work like lightning bolts. New drinks and snacks appeared on our table almost instantly. Also we never had to wait for attention for more than have a minute if some pints needed a refill - guys closely watch what is happening at your table and show up at the very best moments! I'm a fan of of Jack's and when I heard of a Taproom opening up; I couldn't wait to stop by by for some Suds. I had wanted to try the Campfire Stout, but I was out of luck that day because it just ran out before I got there. I did try a smooth Chocolate Hazelnut Porter. Very nice and refreshing with a light finish. The Barkeep let me try the Bourbon Peak Stout which was surprisingly good. They offer light bites, but you can get the breakfast /lunch menu before 4pm. The Taproom leads right into the Restaurant but they have over 20 beers and a couple of Tv's so you can relax without having to wait in Restaurant for a drink. Definitely a place to hang with friends before a flick or a nightcap. They close at 11pm Friday and Saturday. Sunday through Thursday 10pm. read more

I don't remember the bartenders names but two men working the day I went and were both friendly and answered any questions I had about beers that they had on tap. Yes Jack's Taps is on the smaller side so if you get there during a super busy time it might be hard to find a seat. However, this is a great place to hang out and enjoy small bites and beer.
