This place has been consistently fabulous every time for years that I've been coming here!!! Just never got around to leaving a review. Most recently I've enjoyed their tri-tip sandwich just so incredibly amazing!! Funny, I appreciate it even more when I had a bad experience with the same sandwich at the Jacks Urban Eats in Roseville on Sierra College near Douglas. The only thing is the place is a little bit small and gets really crowded because it's so popular so come early especially if it's winter time when you can't really eat outside. I just got done with my meal from Jacks. When I ordered online, I ordered the tri- tip plate, RARE, extra bbq sauce, extra gravy on the side. I'm a senior and I always have my meal for 2 nights. That's why I ALWAYS order the extra gravy for the next night, and I order the meat rare so I can nuke it for 10 seconds to warm it up the next night. Well, the meat was well done, there was no extra gravy or bbq sauce. I normally don't complain but this is the third time in a row that this has happened except for the extra gravy. I really like Jacks food, but they RARELY get the order right. The meat is ALWAYS well done. I don't know why they give you options on how you want your meat done if they can't give it to you the way you order it. So, basically, my suggestion is to always check your order before you leave if you're picking it up yourself. If they would just get the order right I would give them 5 stars. My bother, his employee and I had a meal Sunday mid July 2017. We ordered the Chinese chicken and steak that was good However, not great. We had the Cobb salad at half time bar in Roseville the prior day that was much better. The problem was primarily with the turkey berry - turkey and cranberry sandwich. The cook burned the olive oil on the bread and the whole sandwich was terrible . We took a few bites and I went over to the managers two lady's doing book work at the dinner table. I let them know how we felt and their response was if you would of told us sooner we would of made us another one . We were on our way home and didn't have time to make another one . This is my second time here so I thought I would do a review on it. Came here with a group of 8 and had no wait whatsoever in taking the orders. Restaurant looked quite empty on a Sunday afternoon so that was pretty nice. Last time I came here I had one of the salads which was a pretty big portion along with some regular fries. I heard a lot of hype on the signature urban fries so I definitely wanted to try it this time. For the main dish, I was craving a sandwich and decided to go with the BBQ tri-tip and a family sized urban fries. The cashier was very quick and efficient and some of the employees was friendly and outgoing. Drinks were made immediately and the food was brought out within 5-10 minutes. Not long of a wait at all even though we were the only ones in line. The sandwich came out in 2 cuts which appeared to look small but was actually fulfilling. Fries were tasty as well! Would go back! PLEASE READ ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM!!!   This is not my first or second time eating at Jacks urban eats. To be quite honest, I am a HUGE fan of this franchise. I love the rustic décor and chill atmosphere. The salads are delicious and their wine selection is all right.  I wouldn't say I eat here every day or every week, but I do choose to eat here over the other options in the plaza and I've never been disappointed until Sunday and today...   Sunday afternoon, after church service my husband and I decided to go eat at Jack's (Jacks Urban Eats). In the beginning everything went as usual. Sundays are typically busy and there was a line, but the employees there are trained to work quickly so it wasn't much of a wait. I ordered my usual "Build you Own Salad"; my husband ordered a burger. We paid at the register and sat down and ate our food. As I was hungry, my husband and I both enjoyed the food. It was delicious!   The events that followed are what incline's me to tell the whole WORLD about my experience. Half way through my salad I noticed (my husband saw it too) a long hair. At first I was hesitant to go up to the register, as I didn't want to make a scene. I decided it would be better if I called one of the workers there to show them. The busser came over and I showed him the long hair with red onion stuck to it and other greens. He immediately apologized and asked if there was anything he could do and offered to remake it. I declined the offer and asked for a refund. I received the refund and left shortly after.   I wasn't too fazed about the mistake it happens, its life. However, today it happened AGAIN.  What are the odds? Right? Well This time again I ordered my salad and was a little less then half way through my salad and this time my husband spots a thick black hair. I was shocked! How could this happen to me AGAIN? My husband was appalled. This time I was determined to speak with a supervisor to bring up my concerns.  And this is where everything turned very negative for me.   I brought my salad to the registered pointed it out, the gal there said she was sorry and offered to remake it for me. I am not hungry after this point. I told here that this happened last Sunday, there was a girl that was there that I recognized from last Sunday. I pointed her out and said that she was there last Sunday.  The girl recognized me and confirmed. A gentleman came up and said that they can't offer a refund because it's against there policy. I was dumbfounded. I told them that this happened to me last time and I got refunded. How is it that one day they can refund, the next they can't. His response was and I quote verbatim "because some managers are nicer then the other, and our owners doesn't like us to give refunds." WHAT?!?!  I asked for the manager or supervisor. They all said they were managers here. I told them to get the owner on the line. They refused.   I then again told them this has happened on Sunday. It is ridiculous. I was getting frustrated. The main girl I was speaking to said okay and left to the back with the girl from Sunday after 2 or 3 minutes the main girl comes back and says " We can't give you a refund because this seems to be repetitive." I was blown away. She basically insinuated that I was on creepin' on their restaurant to get a free meal! I was offended and I lost it at this point and basically said in a very aggressive voice that this was B.S! I told them I have experience in the food industry and that I have went through culinary and I know that you have to have your hair put away or covered to avoid fallout. Main girl said that their policy does not allow them to wear hairnets. They can have their hair up or put away but policy doesn't let them wear hairnets. HOW ABSURD IT THAT?!?!?! At this point the main girl and I were going back and forth. I was trying to ask for phone numbers and she kept talking over me! HOW RUDE!!! I felt frustrated and stormed out.   I don't care about the refund, what I do care about is how am I treated and about the quality of the food. I don't want to be constantly looking over my food to make sure there are no foreign objects there. Who needs that worry? Anyway I am looking to hear from a supervisor/owner. My wife and I took my 94 yr old mom to lunch at the Rancho Cordova location. It was in between lunch and dinner and there were only a few tables that had customers. We ordered 2 tri tip salads and a tri tip sandwich for my mom. When they handled me the 2 salads I noticed that the amount of tri tip on one salad was significantly more then half the amount of meat as the other salad, I told the cashier that one had way more meat than the other and she looked at them and told me that one was piled up and one was spread out. Please check out the pictures, they are not even close to the same amount of meat, I took the salads and sat down as I did not want to make a scene. We sat down and my mom was still waiting for her tri tip sandwich but insisted that we start without her. 15 min passed and still no sandwich, I did not want to complain to the cashier again as I already complained about the salads, my wife and I were almost finished with our salad and my mom asked me to ask about her sandwich, so I went up to the same cashier and said my mom had not received her sandwich and the girl said it was almost ready and they would bring it out to us, with no apology. In about 10 more min a guy brought out my moms sandwich, we had alreafinished our salads and had been almost 25 min. The guy who brought out the salad apologized and said that my moms sandwich was given to the wrong person and said that they would refund our money for the sandwich. It was a lousy lunch and I will not be going back to this place, to many good restaurants in the area to waist our time and money to be treated badly. I give them credit for refunded the money for the sandwich but by that time our lunch time with my mom was ruined. read more

Stopped by on a weekday during lunch and it was poppinnnnn. It was a beautiful, warm, and sunny day so I opted to eat out front under the safety of the umbrellas provided. As soon as you walk in you'll see a long line and against the wall will be a cubby of menus. I opted for the steak salad. Bite sized pieces of grilled tri-tip on a bed of mixed greens, crumbled blue cheese, sun dried cranberries, rosemary croutons, and their house made balsamic vinaigrette. As hungry as I was, I did not order any extra sides and resisted the beck and call of the warm house made white chocolate chip cookie (I'm sorry, but I do not regret not having you...) I finished the salad (minus the few wilted pieces and the overwhelming amount of red onions) and was very much content. I wish I was near because this would definitely be frequented. Strongly recommend if you need a quick fix for greens and weren't able to make one yourself in the morning. read more

Love love love their cheese bread and urban fries. When I'm looking to treat myself to a plate of carbs and fat, that's what I go for--which is nearly every time! My boyfriend usually gets their tri tip sandwich and he is pretty happy with that. I always forget that I don't like the mac and cheese here, it tastes like pasta with a thin layer of velveeta. I get it every time but end up having to take it home and add some grated Parmesan or cheddar to it. A friend let me try his sandwich with the gluten free bread and I was really impressed! I live within five minutes of Jack's and I visit there frequently. You can never go wrong with the urban fries and salads are usually great most of the time... there tri tip sandwhich is delicious. The only thing I don't like about Jack's is the inconsistency of food. Depending on the person you get sometimes they can be very stingy. I often order chicken on my salad and sometimes there's only a few pieces on there. When I'm paying $13 for a solid I wish it would be a little bit more consistent. I get you only get six toppings but at least make sure you get a full scoop. But every once in a while someone makes it and they don't hold back on the toppings. I feel like every time I go here they have stuff written on the board but they never have it. For example I was here last Thursday and I ordered my girlfriend a plate and I read her what was on the board for their vegetables and they had broccoli with cheese up there. Then when it's my turn at the cash register and I can order vegetables they say they don't have any that it was a lunch time thing. So I pointed over her shoulder and said "well it's on your board" I'm surprised for how good most of their food is that the macaroni and cheese bread it is horrible. Staff is very friendly. Great salad bar. You can choose to make your own or one of their combinations created. Made to order, it is always fresh. The veggie selection is big and fresh as well as a grill that cooks their meats to order. It does get a little crowd at lunch time, but they do a great job and keeping the line moving. read more

I understand mistakes happen especially when busy. What I don't understand is poor customer service when trying to get a mistake addressed. I brought my sandwich back to the counter after eating half because it was supposed to be without mustard. I understand that since it was half gone and I had lost my appetite, I couldn't get a refund but rather another half sandwich made or some other side...not even a half refund. The part that made me upset was the three girls working the front proceeding to pick the sandwich apart right there and tell me there actually wasn't any mustard on this sandwich...what I was seeing was actually from the caramelized onions. No, it wasn't. If you used yellow mustard it would be obvious but you don't, you use honey mustard on that sandwich. Perhaps it was applied then scraped off, I don't really know. All I do know is that I'm sensitive to the mustard taste and there had definitely been some on that roll. Please teach your staff not to argue with customers, it's rude! Sad to say I had spent about $25 at your establishment tonight and left very dissatisfied. I have had many positive experiences here but this one will keep me away for quite a while. read more

I'm stuck between an 3 & 4 star review. I used to come to Jacks a lot back in my college days, back when the first iPhone came out. My memories of Jacks is that the food is savory and the ambiance is cool and hip. The tribe and I finally came to Jacks for the first time since being back in Sac. The ambiance is still very cool and hip. Big wide windows, the classic light bulb sign, lots of seating. The menu is fairly simple American dishes (salads, sandwiches, and such). The employees are friendly and quick. I made my own salad, all really good fresh ingredients and a hearty portion. I added tritip. The kids got Mac n cheese and tritip, chicken strips and fries. The food is generally good, the concept is neat, and the prices are decent. One thing to note: our tritip was DRY. Not the quality id expect. I'm going to throw that to an off day. And this was going to be my main reason for a 3 star. But again- I think that was a mishap and not the standard. read more

We have no problem with the food as we love to eat here and the one in Folsom. We stopped by 4/20/13 @ 4pm to grab a salad to go and had one of the rudest servers ever encountered anywhere. My wife was still upset when we got home. The receipt said our host was Lauren and I am not sure if she was the one (rude) who made the salad or the one who rang us up (very nice). My wife asked for beets and the rude one put beans, ok no big deal they sound alike and it would have been over, but the rude one acted like it was the end of the world to have to start over. The she just got mean and snapped her questions and tossed the mixing bowl down. I tried to reach a manager only to learn they don't take phone calls, so yelp and other review sites are my only recourse at this time. I came in here last week with my Mother after the dinner rush, around 7pm or so. Walking in I noticed that it wasn't busy but that there was a table of about 4 staff members toward the back of the restaurant on break. No big deal. Well, I will get to that later. Mom and I order our food. But it has seemed to me like lately the people taking the order don't even have little more than a smirk when speaking. IDK, I just get a "I think I am better than you" vibe from them. We get up to the cashier. And I asked something about the numbers they give, they have Bob Marley on them and I said "I don't remember Bob Marley being on them, how cool!" and all snotty like she says "Well, they have always been Bob Marley". Well ... guess what ... I didn't notice so shuttie. UGH. Then we get to the actual dining room. It was FILTHY. There were tables with all dishes still on them, cups, plates, everything. I should have taken video on how long it actually took for someone to come around and buss and wipe off the table. It was well after we received and were eating our food. The gal who did buss and wipe off tables was one of the ones from before I had mentioned that was taking a break in the back. She was very proactive about getting all this stuff done. IDK if this was her "job" but I work in restaurants and it is everyone's job. It just totally turned me off. I think I am going to stop coming here, the food isn't enough to keep me coming back. They don't make it worth while for me. No smiles, dirty tables, and absolutely no friendliness or abiliuty to try to make conversation. C'mon Jack, get the staff together. People, Most of the salad ingredients are CANNED. They are over priced for canned food. I don't feed the dog Canned food. Jack's, you offend me to charge so much for a meager little salad with 6 choices of CANNED food scooped onto it. My wife's salad was half salad also nearly twice the size as my half salad. 2 Half salads 1 with a scoop of meat and 2 sodas (4) items broke the $22 mark. Canned food at this price ...Jacks is competing with low quality buffets which allow return visits. Step it up guys! I educate people on what is fresh what is safe.... URBAN FRIES YOU HAVE RUINED ME! I have a huge guilty pleasure when it comes to fries, and so when I heard that Jack's had these specialty made fries called Urban Fries, I could not wait to try them! They are probably one of most greasiest, fattiest, yet oh so delicious fries you'll ever have. The sauce is made out of hot chili oil, blue cheese, and chili flakes, all mixed and staked on fresh, crunchy fries. I can never finish it because even though they are so good, I get full off them super easily! The prices here at Jacks are alright...though the salads are a bit expensive. I highly recommend trying out their Hawaiian Chicken Sandwich; they add a little bit of pineapple into your sandwich so you have that "oomph" flavor. Also, the tri-tip sandwich is pretty good; I love their sauce because its smoky and very western-like. read more

I see why there are not a lot of customers @ this location. I believe good customer service is vital to the return of customers... I will not be returning. Every employee here looks miserable to work and does not politely treat their customers. My family and I were fascinated by the new location in Elk Grove and thought the Rancho Cordova location would be of the same quality. - The restaurant itself doesn't have much sunlight. For me sunlight is important because it make the place come to life. - We came in and we weren't asked "How can we help you?" We stood there too long before an employee helped us. - They do not have a self-serving drink area. You have to go up to the cashiers and ask for refills, or get water. - They do not have freshly made drinks like Strawberry Lemonade, Mango Tea etc. - The food is not fresh. Our tomatoes for the Kale & Quinoa salad we ordered were dry. Mac n Cheese was dry. Food was not hot enough. - OH AND OUR URBAN FRIES WERE SOGGY AF! I'm most dissatisfied for the way we were treated. No one was specifically rude. But if an employee is unhappy with their job... then they should quit. read more

I have heard so many great things about how wonderful Jack's is, but after eating here once, I was very disappointed. I should preface this by saying I went here at possibly the wrong time and ordered possibly the wrong food. Arrived Wednesday at noon to a packed restaurant. The line felt like one for an amusement park ride. Took about 15 minutes to get to order. When I finally ordered, I was little confused by their system and so almost didn't get my cup of soup because I guess I told the wrong person? Well, at least everyone was friendly. I was trying to eat healthy so just got some turkey breast and the soup of the day, which happened to be turkey vegetable. At least, that's what they called it - I called it "lumpy salt water." As for the turkey breast, it was nice and dry, like bad thanksgiving turkey. And all this for only $9! That's a steal at twice the price!! Also, I don't know what the deal is with the parking lot at thus shopping center, but I routinely almost get hit by old people drivers. So, stay vigilant out there. Having recently been to Plutos, I must say I'll take Plutos over Jack's any day of the week. They offer similar menus and experience, but Plutos had much better food, faster service, for cheaper. read more

Not really worth the price. We got 2 salads and 2 orders of Mac and Cheese. For what we paid, I don't think it was a good value. Skimpy on the meat in the salad. I don't expect a 12 ounce cut of beef, but it was really skimpy and the meat was pretty dry and overcooked. The greens were ok, but a touch wilted. It was a 2pm lunch - maybe it sat out for a bit, but when paying a premium price - I expect better. The mac and cheese was obviously not baked, and not real cheese. There was watery liquid in the bottom with excess powdered cheese. POWDERED CHEESE MIX in a premium "eats" place is a big no-no. Sorry, there's lots of options - and this isn't one. The Spinach had GIANT long stems still attached. That's poor quality Jack! Hard to eat not fun either. The meat was DRY and I was served fatty pieces. The amount of dressing used was sickening. Wife and I went too Jack's urban eats in Rancho Cordova off of sunrise Boulevard. Three words would describe our experience; Very, Very Disappointing. Things have changed due to the pandemic. Higher prices and less food. The major change is that you no longer order your food as you into into the food line and then pay at the cash register. Now everything is ordered and paid at the register. Do not like this new approach. You receive a number and the food is brought to your table. Another change is the quantity of toppings you receive. I ordered three servings of egg, One serving of celery, one serving of artichoke hearts, and one serving of cucumbers. I received literally three pieces of hard boiled egg, five pieces of sliced celery, five small, almost invisible, parts of artichoke hearts, and four pieces of cucumber. It would have been better for me to have gone home and made a salad. The wife and I will not be going back to Jack's urban eats, at least too the one in Rancho Cordova. read more

No matter what time of day, I end up waiting long amounts of time for my food while watching people who weren't even here when I ordered get there's. But today was review worthy. They had my food ready, waiting on the counter and no one let me know my order was completed. I have to come back up to the counter, because even though they can remember to charge me after hey made a mistake, they have my fries getting cold while my salads are ready to go. And I'm gonna say it, I'm the only person I even see wait, even when I've seen people order he safe thing as me. Really disappointed. Guess I'll go back to driving to Roseville for jacks. read more
