This place is so fun, it's like stepping into a restaurant from my childhood; where decorations are thematic, chairs are comfy, and staff are fun. They have an amazing happy hour menu that goes until 10 Pm. The prime rib tacos were SO amazing, not spicy, so flavorful and the texture of the corn salsa added so much to the whole bite. The garlic fries were fantastic, loaded with chopped garlic (jarred kind), parsley and parm. We also tried the loaded potato skins, they were great but I was pretty full by the time they came so we left a wounded soldier. The tumbleweed onion straws were also fantastic! My friends ordered prime rib, kabobs and the filet mignon and were nice enough to share! The prime rib is served on a sizzling plate with au jus, and was fantastic! The filet was well seasoned and the kabobs were good, although I prefer a little more rare. The appetizer happy hour menu had $6 and $8 items, food and drinks. The howdy beer was $4 and was pretty decent! My friends loved the $6 raspberry lemon drops! Above all of this though, our server was amazing. She worked her butt off for us and really made our visit Amazing. I'm the worst and only caught that her name started with a J, and she'd been there for 20 years. Friday night and the place was packed! The saloon was full, so we waited for a spot in the dining room. After about a ten minute wait, we were seated in a dining room booth. Our server Jenna was quick to explain the specials, and made a few recommendations. She took our orders and got us some drinks and an appetizer. Our entrees came a little later and everything was spot-on. I had the ribeye and my wife had the shrimp. After starting with appetizers and salad, we tried or best to finish our main courses but failed. We took what we couldn't finish home in to-go boxes. I'm really disappointed with my experience at Cattlemen's Restaurant -- not because of the food, but because of how poorly my situation was handled. I accidentally left my card at the bar during a previous visit. I called ahead to confirm it was there, and the receptionist told me when I came in, just check in at the front and let them know I was there to pick it up. Simple enough... or so I thought. When I returned about a week later, I told the front desk staff I was there to get my card. The guy said he'd let the manager know. I waited about 5 minutes, then let him know I already had a booth at the bar and asked him to have the manager bring the card there -- I was going to sit down and eat. We finished our meal... and still no card. About 45 minutes had passed. I went back up front and asked again, and was told the manager was busy helping someone else. I explained I had already been waiting 45 minutes just to get my card back. I ended up waiting another 15 minutes before the manager finally came out. The only thing I got was a quick "sorry, I was busy," handed me my card, and that was it. No sense of urgency, no real apology, no effort to make up for making a customer wait an entire hour for something that should've taken a minute. It felt very inconsiderate and dismissive. I understand being busy, but making someone wait that long for their own card -- especially after confirming it was ready for pickup -- is just not good customer service. Went to try today 2/4/26. Me and husband decided to go with Steak dinner for two! We have the Artichoke dip for appetizers. for entrees we choose New York steak and steak and shrimp scampi and for dessert we choose the fried apple pie. I wish I could remember the name of them, but I can't. One was a blackberry or huckleberry drink, and one was the lemonade but not the Cowboy Lemonade. The food was filling and delicious. Had a terrible experience this afternoon at Cattlemans Rancho Cordova. The place was not busy at all since the Superbowl was going on at the time. My chopper ground sirloin steak that is suppose to be 1lbs was burnt up and charred on both sides when I ordered it medium. The Bloody Mary drink had only a piece of celery in it, suppose to have olives, Pepperoncini and hot sauce. The service was also terrible, the server acted like we were annoying him and ignored us most of the time. After all this we still left him a great tip but we will NOT be going back there anytime soon! We've adored this place for years but maybe they have a new manager. We went in for the third time for the Tuesday night special of the month. It is advertised to people who subscribe to their emails. In the photo and the description in the email (and every time we've ordered this) a baked potato is clearly shown and stated. Last night we were told no choice in sides and that it would come with french fries. Our waitress went back and forth with the kitchen, other employees, and her manager. The story kept changing and ultimately we were serves plates heaped with french fries and told that the manager made a special concession for us and we were given little tiny plates with a baked potato on them. I got the idea the manger thought we were being difficult and the attitude was "just give them what they want to shut them up". Some of the food prep has also suffered recently but this was shockingly wrong. I even heard a group of employees huddled around the hostess table saying that they couldn't figure out what the order was supposed to be. How does this happen? And please, don't throw piles of french fries to people who don't want them. Just replate the dish. read more

It's been a few months since dining at Cattlemen's since there isn't one close by, but the 45 minute ride was worth it tonight. My daughter and I both had the 6 oz. filet mignon special, accompanied with a salad, bread, their beans, and a side, for $29.99. The filet was cooked perfectly and was juicy with a lot of flavor. We chose baked potato for our side, which was also very good, blending easily with the butter and sour cream. The beans were okay and a nice addition to the meal. Their sour dough bread comes nice and hot, and is so good, buttered. It's hard not to eat it all before the meal comes. Our server was wonderful too. He was so efficient and upbeat. He checked on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. I sure hope they build a Cattlemens in Elk Grove. We were so ready for our meal that we forgot to take pictures! read more

This is the second Cattlemens that I've been to in a week! A group of 5 of us went for a birthday dinner around 5:30pm last night and we were seated within 25 minutes or so. It was very packed as their dinner service and happy hour starts at 4pm during the week. My husband and I got the Steak Dinner Combo for 2 for $80 that included an appetizer, 2 entrees and a dessert. I ordered the Rib Eye with Mixed Veggies. The Rib Eye was cooked well, but the veggies were actually very cold. I don't like sending food back so I powered through and ate them, but it definitely was a bummer. The salad and Artichoke Dip were spot on though, but the Brownie Sundae we ordered for dessert was not good. The brownie was hard and tasted old. My mom also said her Prime Rib was better at the other location. I think the Cattlemens in Dixon is better than this Rancho Cordova location. The entire meal was better in Dixon unfortunately. Our server Bailey was super sweet and attentive though, but I think we'll drive back out to Dixon next time! read more

We have always had good meals at Cattlemen's, but last night I ordered the cowboy bone in ribeye and was extremely disappointed. This steak was presented very rare even though I ordered medium rare. Yes, I could have sent it back for further cooking but but that wouldn't have changed the quality of the meat. The steak knife provided had to "saw" through lots of gristle, so much so that after lots of chewing i opted to spit it out rather than risk choking when swallowing. The only tasty part was the butter on top. My $44 was wasted...but the salad and baked potato were good. read more

First time visiting Rancho Cordova and my wonderful manager took me to dinner here! For me, Cattlemens was an experience and it started with the old western decor. I felt like I was transported back to Fronteirland at Disneyland. Our server was Emmy and she was very delightful and attentive. We ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp for the appetizer, prime rib for the entree and carrot cake for the dessert. Everything tasted excellent and I especially loved the prime rib. I got the smallest cut of prime rib and it was the perfect amount for one person. For my side I had the rice and it was a decent side. I booked the banquet room and lunch buffet for my staff and it was absolutely fantastic. Our server was MJ and he was on it. He made sure we had all we needed and more. I did the banquet lunch menu steak and chicken and it was the right amount of food for lunch time. Lots of leftovers. It's always a delight coming here! Two of us came to celebrate our joint birthdays. Because we're signed up for their emails, we had a $10 off birthday coupon. I had the steak and dungeness crab combo, with a side of roasted vegetables. My dining companion had the prime rib with a side of garlic fries. We each had a lemonade as our beverage and the carrot cake for dessert. Our meals were delicious! The vegetables were fresh and perfect. The steak was cooked exactly as I asked: medium rare. It was perfectly seasoned and didn't need any additional sauces or the like. My friend's prime rib was beautiful and cooked exactly as he liked it. It was served on a sizzling platter too! It came with both au jus and horseradish. The garlic french fries were a bit crispy, so if that's your style then you will love them. This was the first time I had the carrot cake. It was perfect: the cake had wonderful chunks of nuts and raisins with a delicious buttercream icing. We shared it, and still had half the cake to bring home. Because it tends to get quite busy here, my friend and I are in the routine of making a 5:15 reservation on a week night. It starts out quiet, but is generally quite full by the time we leave. The ambience can be a bit wild with every table full! There is plenty of parking at this location. The parking lot is very easy to navigate. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I've visited the Rancho Cordova location a few times now, and it can be somewhat inconsistent with food and service delivery. Tonight, Cattlemen's was a four star experience! Our steaks came out medium rare as ordered, and the dinner for two deal is always our go-to order. The service was great and may even be the best that I've had at this location! Our server Shea was very attentive, and I noticed that he had the certified trainer title on his name tag. As a former Cattlemen's employee at a different location, certified trainers are recognized for their thorough menu knowledge and steps of service, and Shea was exceptional on all counts. Our party of two was seated next to a large party, which initially worried me, but this location has never been known for noise or rambunctious diners. It's a great place to stop by for a celebratory steak, and I'll continue to recommend Cattlemen's for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion. read more

FELL FLAT The wife and I hadn't been to Cattlemen's in years and we were in the area, so why not? Who doesn't love steak? The place was packed and we were seated right away. Our waiter was really cool, Ian, he was funny and knowledgeable about the menu and made some suggestions. He was quick to refill our drinks which I really appreciated. I ordered the 20 oz cowboy ribeye medium rare. It is bone in and the ribeye is one of my favorite things to eat. I ordered the veggies for the side. The steak was good sized and it was cooked perfectly, BUT it started off withh a couple of really Grizzled pieces, and that's normal, but it continued on a little too long for me. Once I finally cleared that, and got to the grizzle-free portion, it didn't get much better. The steak was just not tender and didn't have enough marbling. While it was cooked perfectly, it was tough! And I was hoping it would ease up but it didn't. I knew it was gonna be a problem because I had to use extra strength just to cut through it. I love a good steak and as pretty and for how well it was cooked, it was a dissapointment and just FELL FLAT. The veggies were good, plain, but good - but who cares about the veggies at a steak house! To make it worse it was under seasoned. I get a better ribeye at Texas Roadhouse for $15 less. Luckily I ordered 1 beef rib, that was better than the steak, but it was not the dino ribs, so little meat. But it was good. The wife had a filet and the twice baked potato. She ordered it medium well, but it came out medium rare, more rare than mine. They cooked it more for her and it came back perfect. The filet was pretty good, I should have ordered it but the portions are too small for a 300lb polynesian (me). Needless to say, there's no reason to return. 3 stars because Ian was good and they cooked my steak perfectly. read more

We made reservations and were seated quickly. Server was attentive and helpful on suggestions and questions. Quick with drinks and bread. Inside it has a cabin feel to it. Wagon wheels and lots of wood. Very clean and a bit dark inside. My felt mignon was undercooked had to send back, it was also lacking salt or more seasoning. But it was good. The twice baked potato wasn't served hot enough it was barely warm. Hubby ordered the cowboy ribeye and it was tough to cut and very grisly. Not the best steak. The beef rib was better. Overall the meal could have been much better and we've had way better steaks and sides. Appreciated the warm sourdough bread. Not sure I'd want to come back though. read more

We ordered the calamari to start. It was a 7/10. It was a bit on the salty side. The teriyaki salmon was a 9/10. The porterhouse steak was a 10/10. Expect to have leftovers, but it's also good to share. The bread was a 10/10. Yummy and soft! Our server Marcos was very nice. He was attentive and knowledgeable. The ambience has a western but homie type of feel. The hostess greeted us immediately and was nice and apologetic for the wait. We were not waiting long at all for our table.
