This weekend was throwback to there days as the "Lizard Kings"

Always a fun, family friendly evening! . We sure do love a night out with the Icemen! Tonight was throwback night to there early days as "Lizard Kings"! Parking: $20 in the Vystar parking garage/lot $10 in the fairgrounds parking lot Tips: - if you enjoy craft beers, they have a decent selection near section 110. They offer local crafts (like Bold City's Dukes) near section 102 on draft. Wednesday is cheap beer night -- not the good beers though ‍ - eat before you come-the food is overpriced and not very good - I can't attend a game and not get the roasted almonds! just follow your nose! - purchase wolf hats for cheap on Amazon! - it is always cold (it is a hockey game after all)-so dress appropriately - after they let an opponent out of the penalty box, everyone yells "And they still suck!" - after the icemen score a goal, the fans will chant: "... he shoots, he scores , ... (goalie name), (goalie name), you suck, it's all your fault, it's all your fault, it's Al your fault wooooooooo!" I am missing a few words in there, hopefully you get the idea haha! - I feel like we've sat in about every section in the arena and each have their pros and cons. Personally I like sections 102-103, right in the middle of the arena. Second choice would be Section 108-109 where their seems to be a lot of season ticket holders, who make the games very fun. 116-117 is club seating, so you have your own bar and food venues. You can normally pick up tickets for as cheap as $20, and there are many games, so if your ever looking for something fun to do, this is it! "Let's go Icemen"! #travelwiththekirklands #icemen #jacksonville

Great family fun experience. I would like to see a little more fan engagement via an excited PA announcer, or music, or organ playing. I know that attendance was down due to COVID, but this is not an expensive thing to do....also, there needs to be a SUPER LOUD HORN, like a big ship or a freight train, whenever the home team scores... you gotta lay on that thing....The Icemen scored 5 goals at the game we attended, but you would barely even know it...create excitement, get people pumped, and the team will feed off that energy. Also, I didn't really notice anyone combing the aisles to sell drinks, or 50/50 raffles, or chuck a pucks.... All of that creates a buzz during the game.... More sponsored giveaways would be good too....the Jacksonville Sharks do a good job with their floating shark balloon.... The Icemen could create something similar, just get a vendor to sponsor it, drop free pizza coupons, or haircuts, or free icees at the Gate station, something.. the kids really love this too. The marketing team needs some assistance to drum up more business with the community to encourage fans to keep coming back. Throw more shirts into the stands, etc. Love hockey and would like to see it stay!

So much fun watching The Icemen aka Swamp Kings. Surprisingly on the eve of a Big FB game the arena is comfortably full. The enthusiasm is infectious! If you have not been please support one of Jacksonville's greatest minor league sports teams!

Being in Florida, I'm not very familiar with the sport hockey. Was invited for a work event. I had an absolute blast! It was an amazing game! They played awesome music to get the crowd pumped up. They even had games throughout the breaks. We will be coming back for more games!

This was my second Icemen game after attending the first one last year for opening night. I really didn't know anything about hockey other than the puck needs to go in the net and the refs let the players fight so I was pretty excited to experience it all again. Our seats this time were down in the front row and for me, it was colder there than being in the middle or top of the stands. I guess cold air IS heavier than hot air (*SCIENCE!*). But sitting that close does have some hazards, like pucks teasing you by banging up against the glass, threatening to fly over and take you out, players banging up against the plexiglass in front of you which will catch you off guard if you aren't paying attention. The game was pretty exciting as we almost saw a Hat Trick (same player scores 3 times in a single game). The time in-between the 20 minute periods was long but that's needed to "refresh" the ice. During this time they have little fun games or shows to keep the crowds entertained. The food was standard but it is what it is. I had a cheeseburger, fries and a coke because I was starving and hadn't eaten all day. It wasn't anything I'd seek out on a regular basis but it did the trick. I had fun so maybe from time to time I'll check them out again.

I just learned to love ice hockey recently! I've watched it before in the past on TV and thought it was rather boring. But when the Icemen came to town last year, my hubby took me to see them. I BECAME HOOKED! The Icemen games are fast-paced, fun, action-packed, reasonably-priced, and full of sudden fights on the ice!! The Jax crowd really gets into the games: chants, singing of songs, & getting hyped up by Fang and the announcer! Hint: Go early, park off Adams St., go to the Intuition Brewery, and have a few, local beers/some tasty food before walking over to the arena.

Hockey is back in Jacksonville! Funny to hear people not even know that we had the Lizard Kings and Barracudas. Thankfully the Icemen are part of the ECHL which is a mid-level minor league and has grown considerably. The team puts on a decent show and overall does a good job keeping people entertained - even during intermissions. There is just enough background stuff going on as well as announcements and activities during breaks to keep a good flow going. I like the atmosphere created as it is not sensory overload but they fill the lulls sufficiently. The overall "problem" is the team is just not very good. This night against the Swamp Rabbits, they appeared undersized and out-skilled. I know it's the inaugural year and the 6,000+ attendance showed that the newness has somewhat waned but a good sized crowd nonetheless for a cellar dweller team.

Hockey night with the Jacksonville Icemen vs the Florida Everglades. Bought the seat online on the day of the event and sat in the 8th row behind the goalie. Great view of the entire ice. Watched goals close up. Saw fights close up. Good arena with good views from anywhere. Fun camera events such as the Simba Cam and the Awkward dad dance cam. Fans were noisy and fun. Food available was good. Unfortunately the Icemen did not cometh, they lost-eth. Will be going back.

Ice hockey is back in Jacksonville! Inaugural game with a sold out crowd was tons of fun and it was great to experience it in person. I support all the local sports teams, and I remember last year thinking if only there was ice hockey... and then a press release came out announcing the Icemen were going to be here October 2017! If you have not been, you should come to a game. Great for the whole family. While there is a lot to see on the ice (and the obligatory ice ballet/fighting between players), I enjoyed seeing the crowd and various ice hockey spectator traditions including heckling penalty box occupants and pounding on the panels around the rink. The Arena is a great venue, so come on down and support our local Canadian-err ice hockey players. After all the stories locals have told me about the Lizard Kings, I want ice hockey to stay in Jax for a long time. Go Icemen!

Back again, This time we bought an Icebox Suite down on the ice, it was such a great experiences, even thou we lost the game. there was 8 of us in total in the Icebox, plenty of room to spare for more if needed, the food was a miss, but we did work to get some Pizza and Wings for the event, the free hour of beer was very hard to find, but once we got everyone there it was fun, we will do it again for sure, not expensive at all compared to seats behind the glass, Try it once, you will love it!!

This was my first Icemen game and it was fast and exciting. They put on a great family friendly event that insured excitement throughout the game. The concession prices were fair and they had a large variety of items on the menu. This a great family outing in downtown Jacksonville.

The arena itself is fairly average.

The coach is the worst I ever seen. We're done paying good money for the 904 club to watch the team lose and trade away the good players.

The "field" or "arena" is pretty darn amazing and they do an awesome job at converting it. The field is 50 yards long (with maybe another 5 yards for each end zone) and is narrow. There's protective padding up around the entire field to not only protect the players, but also to protect the fans who happen to be sitting in the first row (or even first few rows). Nets are up at each end zone which allows the ball to bounce back in. Although, sometimes it does get past the net and into the crowd, but it's always thrown back in. They have a very nice jumbotron in the center which is very clear, but it's not really necessary b/c for these arena football games, there's not really a bad seat in the house. Concessions are, of course, astronomical. We paid $19 for 1 soda, 1 beer, and 1 order of nachos. Yea.... like I said... astronomical. But you are at a sporting event, so do you really expect any thing less?! =) I can't compare it to any other arena football "fields" because I haven't seen any others, but this one is pretty darn cool, so when and if I ever do see another one, it'll have a lot to live up to.

The small size of the field allows for fans to see the action on the field clearly no matter where their seats are located. The jumbotron in the center of the arena is a decent size and is very clear. The goalposts are much smaller and it became obvious that extra points weren't going to be simple to come by, as the Sharks kicker missed two PATs right off the bat! The concession prices are well..sports event prices ($5.00 nachos, $6.00 soda in souvenir cup with $1.00 refills on day of purchase, and a $8.00 bottled beer). I highly suggest eating before hand if at all possible, unless you have extra money set aside for the game! We hope to attend another Sharks game in the future!

I am not one to like scary things but after seeing the show I had to see it again. The storyline and characters are well-made and very nice people. They put all they had into making this show work and after the show you get to meet them and get to know them personally. The theatrics of it were stunning and very luring and the sound effects blew me away. I loved how well the actors dressed up and scared people. They'd pop out of the dark, they sang along to hit songs from Slipknot and they made it a very good memorable experience. Along with the thrills they made some funny remarks during the show which made it more enjoyable and fun. If they were able to keep the show going on for more days I would go to all of them. For free it was worth it- if I had to pay, it would've been totally worth it. At the end of the show there was a part where a character made a statement about being "lost" and how he was able to come to terms with himself. Yes, they help people to believe but even if you aren't into Christianity or religion at all it didn't matter. They wanted people to remember the show and to tell everyone else back home about it. They wanted to inspire people to not be afraid and to become more than what people think of you. They don't force any part of religion on anyone and they don't force people into a prayer at all. They merely want to help people and for the people who were just there for the show, they got to see how much hard work and dedication the actors put into this to make it fun and memorable and thrilling. I absolutely loved it and would go to many more shows for the rest of my life for the experience. Amazing job well done.

I moved to Jacksonville recently from California and I am always on the lookout for new places to…read morecheck out. There is a building I pass every day near my home which caught my eye right away. Its stone façade and bright yellow sign flanked by two Medieval Knights, with the words "The Arena" across it in large block lettering stood out in comparison to its neighbors, a church and a discount furniture store. I quickly put on my detective cap and began scouring the internet for any explanation or reviews but information was sparse. I eventually found the website... The Arena | Jacksonville's Premiere Concert Venue... "The Arena is definitely one of Jacksonville's premiere and edgiest night scenes. With four stages, and full audio-surround sound, you will be blown away..." I ear marked it as a place to check out in the future. As Halloween grew closer The Arena began to look more and more like an off-beat community haunted attraction. A giant, ominous, clown face appeared over the door along with some additional lights and carnival décor. A new sign was added, "Carnevil". Of course I got back on the internet and found, "Welcome to Carnevil! The darkest and final act of the circus empire..." From the description it sounded pretty scary, I don't really do scary, but it was Halloween and we had no other plans and it was FREE. Now let me tell you, the free thing immediately set off some red flags, nothing is free but curiosity got the best of us. We invited some friends, put on our costumes and headed to the Arena but it was completely full and they sent us away with priority tickets for the next showing. Sunday night just my fiancé and I went back. Like I said, I don't really do scary well and as I stood in line my heart was racing. They announce that we are about to go in and once we are inside we will not be allowed to leave until the end. Honestly, we were half convinced that this place lures unsuspecting people in and keeps them forever... how else does a "Premiere Concert Venue" have almost no internet presence and NO reviews? The whole experience started off great. Creepy ghosts shambled through the lines, small groups were let into the theatre at a time, entering through a miniature haunted maze with all the scares and screams as a professional haunted house. There were plenty of scares for the audience while we waited for the show to start. The play had a great campy/spooky community theatre feel complete with frightening clowns, quality makeup, sound and lighting effects. Over and over I kept thinking, "How is this free?" and then it started... "drugs", "sex", "rebelling against authority"... "sin". Suddenly I realized I was at church. A preacher dressed as a cop stood center stage asking the audience to raise their hands, come up and accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to avoid a hell worse than the clown camp we just witnessed. I want to be clear... I do not have a problem with this being a church function; I appreciate the local church for pulling together a great community event... I do have a problem with being completely ambushed. Nowhere on TheArenaJax.com does it mention its affiliation with Victory Church. To solicit itself as one of the country's premier, edgy music venue, "showcasing a spectrum of internationally renowned artists" is more than slightly misleading. I have to say, I felt a bit violated to be lured into what appeared to be a fun community theatre, told I could not leave until it was over and then force fed a religious message while adults in scary masks and makeup stood blocking the exit. Here is the TL;DR: The production quality is great for a free event. I really enjoyed the first hour and a half of my experience. I would even encourage people to check out one of their events but be advised... this is a religious venue affiliated with its neighboring church. You will be held inside the building and asked to approach the stage to accept their message.
