It's hard these days to find an honest and nice mechanic shop. My situation with my car was difficult as several places no one knew what was going on. I went to the dealership to diagnose my car and I came to Jacob's Garage to have the work done in two separate parts. When I came to complete the second part, they asked to do re-diagnose for me and they found the true problem!! They went ahead and still put in the new part as per my request. Fundamental diagnosis skills at best if your vehicle does not have an obvious problem they will just brush it away and play dumb. However they have no problem asking insane amounts of money to do basic work and won't even let you know there are other problems pending. We will never EVER use Jacob's Garage. We had used them many years ago when Jacob (the father) ran the business. We were regular customers. He had told my sister she needed to have a lot of work done which would have cost about $1,000. My sister took her car elsewhere for a second opinion. The other mechanic told my sister she didn't need to have the work done that Jacob's said she needed. I vaguely recall he tried to pull something similar with me so we stopped going there. Roll ahead to approximately 25 years later. We go there for an oil change against my better judgement. Jacob's two sons along with their mother run the business now. So after about forty minutes to an hour of waiting we are told that we need to replace two tires, the battery was weak and the rear struts are shot. We told them we needed to hold off as we didn't have the money for the struts and tires ($1000) We left and it just didn't sound right to me about the struts being shot. The car has very low mileage and is only a few years old. So I started doing research on other mechanics and called around. Through the Nextdoor neighbor app I find a mechanic who came to my home to check the car out. He found nothing wrong with the struts or the battery. However I did need the two tires. I would have used this mechanic but his shop is in Miami (but lives near me). I took my car to a mechanic who I've used before and they also confirmed the struts were fine. Honest and descent repair people that do good work for a fair price. I read the reviews and was still a bit nervous about bringing my car in. Once I spoke with the owner any fears that I had melted away. Jacob's Garage is a bit hidden off of Pines Boulevard but has plenty of parking. The office was clean and organized. The owner was very knowledgeable. My car had been running rough after I purchased a new battery. He called and explained that the car just needed to be driven in order for the idle to adjust. We got an oil change and they fixed the motor on the window. I'm very happy with the service that we received. read more

I then took it to another mechanic and he quoted me $380 for the ac work that needed done. My ac works great now. Brought my car in for one wheel bearing replacement. I was skeptical but Zvi upsold me to replace both bearings. If that was all I'd give them 4 stars. Things got worse. I was told my car was ready and went to drive away and my radio didn't turn on. I brought this to their attention and was told they were too busy that day to look at it. I should come back first thing two days later. I wasn't happy but what choice did I have they already had my money. I brought it back and waited several hours. Your car is ready. Yea! I turn on the car and the radio works, but now the ABS and check engine lights are on. Are you kidding me!?! They were expecting me to just drive away like that. Then it's the same story "oh really we didn't do anything to cause that and we're too busy today but come back some other day." Poor craftsmanship, clueless and an apparently overworked shop. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE! They caused more problems than they fixed. UPDATE: 6 months later I've got a grinding noise coming from one of the replaced bearings or possibly the CV. They said one year guarantee on parts and labor but I am afraid to bring my car to this shop. What a nightmare! read more
