Now that the outdoor structure is enclosed it is even MORE overcrowded. The food is very good, but the service lacks because they cannot keep up. Large group of friends came for a celebration of life for a loss of a coworker. Few seats during Happy Hour and on a Friday night was already running out of certain beers? Took way longer than it should to order. Put in an order and never got it so had to put it in again, with a different bartender. Bills mixed up and had different items more than once. We sorted it out eventually. One bartender took great pictures of us very professionally. Rosemary Vodka Lemonades were awesome. read more

Had an awesome lunch today at Jacob's Pickles! I had the Buffalo Mac N Cheese and my friend had the Boneless Chicken Bites and it was delicious! Mac N Cheese is very cheesy, tasty with great flavor! The chicken worked well too. My friend enjoyed the boneless chicken bites with "Mikes Hot Honey" and said it was awesome! Christine our server, was very nice, sweet and accommodating! She shared all different menus with us which was very much appreciated! I'll definitely be back! The ambiance was great! Music wasn't blaring in my ears. Great playlist. Tried their new location and did a daring walk-in on a Saturday for brunch. After waiting for 20 minutes, we got seated on one of their high tables which were comfortable for our little one too. James was our server, very attentive and friendly and was quick to take our order of Matzo Ball Soup, Hot Chicken Biscuit, and Deviled Eggs. Food continues to hit the comfort food spot, quick service, and a great selection of draught beer (and cocktails). Will be our favorite spot to go to for brunch. read more

Hostess was great and friendly, ambiance was good, but the waiter was THE WORST!!! While ordering I said I wanted a dirty martini. He said that they didn't have it so he put down my order as a different house martini. My son asked for a beer and he said they were completely out of draft while the two tables to our right both had a draft beer each. My son got his drink and food and finished eating before I got my drink. I asked for the check without drinking it because it was terrible. I told him it was not good and he ignored me and just gave me the card reader. Did not engage with us AT ALL!!! I will not return because of him. read more

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr Jacob Hadjigeorgis, co owner of Jacob's Pickle who was inside his new location (688 Columbus Ave, btw West 93rd & 94th Streets); doing final walkthrough & touches for their opening on Wednesday, October 15th at 3pm, per Mr Jacob. I shared with Mr Jacob that his presence at this location will be an added value to US UWSIDERS and community; and thanked him profusely and with love in my heart (see video attached to review). Food: The food here is consistently amazing and delicious. My favorites here are the mushroom gravy smothered chicken and biscuits and the macaroni and cheese. All of their food is made fresh and tastes excellent even though it's a very heavy meal. This place never disappoints for comfort food! Service: Service is always excellent here, and the staff are so friendly and welcoming. Ambiance: The restaurant is a good size with both indoor and outdoor seating. They can accommodate both small and large groups. It does get packed during peak meal times and there might be a wait. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant! read more

Great food and great service! At first we were nervous our reservation didn't go through because historically they didn't take reservations for two, but there were no issues at all and we were seated right away. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the staff made the whole experience even better. We got the fried green tomatoes to start and the honey chicken and pickles and classic mac and cheese to share. The portion sizes were huge and our only regret was not pacing ourselves to save room for dessert - a seasonal pumpkin biscuit bread pudding. I guess we'll have to come back! Jacob's Pickles has been a favorite spot of mine for over a decade. On my most recent visit here, I was happy to find the place packed as ever, but even happier to find that they had a table available right away despite most of them being taken. It's a casual spot with a large bar inside, plenty of outdoor tables and a fairly large indoor dining room as well. It's slightly elevated southern comfort food served in enormous portions. I was here for one thing and one thing only during my last visit -- the mac and cheese. I've had most things on this menu and love the fried pickles, deviled eggs and chicken and waffles -- but the mac and cheese here just does something for me. Served in a cast iron skillet, made with penne pasta and so many different types of cheese. Gooey on the inside, topped off with a hefty layer of cheese on top. Everything a mac and cheese should be and nothing that it shouldn't. If you're visiting, don't leave New York without eating here. read more

Just going to write about tonight...had Spicy Brine Margarita...it is amazing and must be tried. Like its pickle shot infused.... Deviled Eggs- thinks its paprika in the mix that give it flavor but the pickle makes it perfect., highly recommend. Okra - vinegary, smoky...cast iron burnt...not slimey, but also not crispy...highly recommend. Rating the new location and updated menu. The space feels like a huge upgrade from the previous space. Not sure if the space is actually bigger than the previous one but it seems like it, and all of the mirrors on the inside definitely makes it feel larger. The menu has some new additions that I don't remember from my previous visits. We really enjoyed the Spinach Artichoke dip appetizer as a group and it was a generous servings, although that is to be expected at Jacob's Pickles. I tried the burger and while the taste was enjoyable the eating process was not. The brioche bun was not up to the task of containing the burger and toppings so it ended up being a fork and knife affair. Our waiter was lovely but did disappear for a large part of our meal, when we were trying to get a second round of drinks. I look forward to coming back and trying out some more of the expanded menu. read more

Jacob's Pickles was a spot recommended by one of my boyfriend's friends who lives in New York. If you are in search of southern comfort food classics, this is a must stop while you are in the Upper West Side. The portions are HUGE here. I honestly don't remember what we ordered, but we did take the suggestions our waitress gave us! My boyfriend ordered something savory, while I got something sweet. The best of both worlds for us. The restaurant is bigger than it appears when you first enter. It's a rustic, homey decor and lighting. Out of nowhere while we were dining, the lights actually went out. Food was great, the pickles were incredible. Lemonade blueberry beer was odd, not bad, but not great. Good for a restaurant and cool that they made it themselves but not my style and not a traditional lemon radler either. We were very impressed with the portion sizes! Lots and lots of food served with the main. White bean hummus was ok, nothing special. It was also a second serving of a lot of what was in our pickle order. We really had an odd time because it was a blazing hot summer day and we're seated nearly outside... no other tables of 4 were available at like 2 pm I suppose... We were also dripped on (and our food) by some sort of metal thing with a lot of condensation. The food was not good enough to justify the service or the drip. read more

Good food and the portions were massive! We got sat very quickly. There's tons of seating indoor/outdoor with a very cozy interior. The pickle flight was fun though I'd pass on the carrots. The batter on the fried pickles are on the thicker side. The deviled eggs were probably my favorite app. The hot honey chicken biscuit was good. Brunch at Jacob's Pickles is a heavy, heavy meal - you will definitely be full, but may be unable to function afterwards. We had a reservation, but still had a very long wait. The seating is also quite cramped, and the acoustics are bad-you can hear other tables loudly talking, but can't hear the people you're eating with. Overall, we wouldn't recommend. read more

Jacob's pickles has long been my favorite restaurant. Mixing up southern dishes with a modern twist, it brings a homey comfort to the city that never sleeps. The execution on all the food is perfection. Literally, every time I come here. I'm not usually a fan of grits, but these are so cheesy and rich, you can't help but love them. The side of fresh fruit for $9 is a must. It gives just the right amount of lightness for all the fried food. No matter what you order, you will not be disappointed. I went during a week day at brunch/lunch and it wasn't too busy yet. Our server was kind and gave us time to peruse the menu. What a pleasant surprise!! Coming from the southern part of Virginia, I had high expectations for a place in NYC claiming to be southern; but boy the portions and flavors did NOT miss!! Second time here. This time for breakfast. Had no idea this place was this popular about a 30 min wait outside for everyone but at least they text you when ready. A whole new set of specials. Big bustling restaurant on the Upper west side with a huge menu of southern food and drinks. It took us so long to decide our poor waitress had to come back 3 times to take our order. Overall we all really enjoyed the spicy savory crunchy food we got. Some things were a miss though. Jalapeño poppers were great. We're so used to frozen, refried ones at other places, this was a good departure. They were more roasted with spicy melty cheese on top and not spicy. Fried pickles were spears, battered and fried. Great crunch but tasted more batter than the tang of the pickle. Hot Chicken n biscuits was the best item. Served with creamy grits and a huge biscuit. Just get it but it is spicy. Buffalo Mac n cheese was good even though penne shaped pasta didn't feel very southern. Plus needed more flavor with buffalo sauce. Chicken Caesar wrap was disappointing even though it's a generous size. It seemed like they took crispy scraps of chicken from other things for the wrap. I would've liked to see bigger pieces of the chicken. The crisp lettuce and sauce were good tho. There was an unspoken peer pressure when we saw pink cocktails with fresh strawberries on so many tables. So happy we gave in to get the refreshing jam jar cocktail. Fun neighborhood spot with delicious food and both indoor and outdoor seating. Came on a Saturday to meet up with a friend-- it was a little chilly outside (60s), but given summer has yet to arrive, it was a great reprieve from the winter weather! They don't take reservations but the wait was pretty short (I want to say around 10-15 minutes?). We were seated outdoors, which was honestly really nice. For food, we got the special, which was a hash, and the hot chicken biscuit. Both of them were delicious and we had leftover even sharing between two people! It's definitely southern comfort food and I would be happy to eat either again (although with the extensive menu I'll be tempted to try something else!). My friends and I went for some food after an event at Symphony Space. We were glad JP's was open late-ish because few places are around there post-pandemic. The hostess showed me a high booth but my friend has knee issues so I asked for a regular table. She said I could sit on the patio then and didn't offer anything else. A sign of things to come. I asked one of the other staffers to see what could be done since almost every table outside of the bar area, was open. He helped us out and we moved to a table inside. Our waiter, who was new and incredibly friendly, is the only reason I'm giving the extra star. My friend who ordered the trio of pies was happy but my other friend who got several appetizers, only liked the cheese grits (they were good-abundant cheese). He thought the deviled eggs were too sweet and the matzo ball soup lacked flavour. They were out of several items, including the homemade potato chips, which were supposed to come with my salmon burger. The kitchen sent fries and the waiter didn't know the chips accompanied the burger. The fries were okay, but needed more salt and crispness. The salmon burger was fine, but also could have done with more seasoning or contrasting tastes. If not for our waiter Garret or Gareth, the meal would have pretty much been a wash. read more

My nephew LOVES pickles, so naturally, we had to have lunch here. We started with an order of fried pickles (with dilly ranch, obvi), which he loved. He got the matzoh ball soup, which was fine. I had the fried chicken sandwich from the lunch specials, which came with pickle slaw, fries and seasonal soup (mushroom). It was a ton of food and I ended up giving some to my nephew. My brother got the mac and cheese, which was huge and had good quality cheese. I only came for dessert but this place is a hidden gem! The service is absolutely amazing and makes you feel like you're in the south getting southern hospitality. The restaurant is huge and there's no rush to kick out customers (which is true for most NYC restaurants). I thoroughly enjoyed my time just sitting there and being transported. We got the 24 layer chocolate cake and it was incredible! The best slice of chocolate cake I've had in NYC. The fudge topping was amazing and the cake was not too sweet nor dry. From the check in process, to the food, to the brief discussion with the waiter--all of it was pretty poor. Instead of being greeted at check in the employee just stared directly at me and waited for me speak. She had an attitude or at best an odd energy from the start. Later the food arrives and the biscuits and chicken are cold. We literally come to JP for the biscuits and they were cold, hard, and stale tasting as if an older batch had been just plucked from the refrigerator and not properly reheated. The waiter came by 10 min after the food was dropped off and asked how we were doing--this was appreciated. But We told him that our biscuits were cold and hard and the chicken was cold too. He too just looked at us and mentioned bringing it back to the kitchen. We declined because we know better than to send food back after complaints. The waiter provided no other options such as bringing us out fresh warm biscuits, bringing us out something else that was hot, or slightly discounting our bill. He was eagerly ready to receive his tip though once the bill came...I was so excited to have this restaurant in my neighborhood because I frequented their other locations. But This experience was disappointing and disincentives any future visits. read more

Wow we got so much food here and everything was great. Pickled green beans are a must. Biscuits were amazing and so fluffy. Mac and cheese was very good but a little bland imo. Delicious and on a busy Sunday brunch no less. Came here as the last meal before leaving new york and we definitely left on a high note food wise. This place is really cute and goes farther back with more tables than you might realize first walking in. And the wait again wasnt more than 30 minutes for a table in beak brunch time. Once we were sat Mason was the best server to have. He let us know which items were favorites and steered us the right way. We stopped in with our family of five, and everything from start to finish was perfect. Our waiter Mason was excellent -- attentive without hovering, super friendly with our kids, and made sure everything came out just right. We started with the deviled eggs and fried pickles, both of which were incredible -- crispy, flavorful, and exactly what you want from Southern comfort food. For the main course, we had the fried chicken with honey, and it was unreal -- crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and perfectly balanced by that touch of sweetness. They were also great with young kids, which can be rare in the city. The staff made us feel welcome, helped us navigate the big portions, and made the whole meal fun and stress-free. My husband and I finally made it to this location for lunch. We started with a cocktail and then had one of the 19.00 lunch specials-Waldorf salad with goat cheese--So tasty! The music is painfully loud! They have no decaf coffee. It's 2026! The entire place is empty and they seated 4 tables right next to each other. The music is blaring and customers have to scream to be heard -- and we can hear 4 tables of loud conversation at once. Sadly, the place has gone downhill. read more

Enjoyed brunch there few months ago. Big portions, our food was really good, and I'm a sucker for pickled vegetables which did not disappoint. Waiter was helpful, service was good. Went with a friend for lunch after a trip to The Met. Arrived around 3, so it became a late lunch or early dinner. The restaurant was crowded but tables were available for immediate seating. Place was a little bit noisy but was able to have a comfortable conversation. Service was ok but not overwhelming. Server came over quickly, took a drink order and gave us ample time to review the menu. There was never a checkin once we got the food delivered by a runner to make sure everything was ok. Now onto the food. We both ordered the burger and fries with fried onions, spicy pickles, spicy sauce and cheddar cheese. Cooked to perfection. I asked if the spicy pickles and sauce be put on the side so I could test. Sauce on the side yes, pickles no. Took em off my self. They did have a bit of a kick. Fries were crispy. It was tough growing up in the restaurant business. It was tough, having both parents working together in a restaurant. For that reason, I thought I would never actually myself get into the business, a point in my life came when I was looking for my creative outlet, there was no other direction that I wanted to take. The culture of the restaurant business was embedded in me. There's something extremely fulfilling, being part of a community, nourishing people, dealing with your guests who become friends, who become family day in and day out. We really felt that was the culture on the Upper West Side, which is exactly why I came here to launch.

The staff was very friendly and the place is packed, so if it isn't too hot/rainy, might be a good idea to get it to go and each outside. The pizza itself is super light and very thin crusted. It was very enjoyable but extremely short lived. Leaves you wanting more - both because it tastes good and there isnt much food. I wish the hot honey wasn't extra charge because that would probably be delicious but $2 is crazy!

Visited again and still my favorite pizza spot in ny!…read more we got the angry nonna, vodka square, and the house slice. the detroit style slices were our favorite. it was the perfect combination of delicious flavors and the crust was perfect. the angry nonna had a great combination of salty salami coupled with sweet hot honey and the vodka slice was so saucy and had such a great flavor. both slices were wrapped up perfectly by the crunchy crust that gave the slice great structure too! will absolutely be back and hope to see more mama's toos around the city!

Our wait was at least an hour and a half and were texted when our table was ready. They have indoor and outdoor seating with one bathroom for all to use. We got the viral pancakes and they were everything you'd dream they be and then some for sure very filling and buttery. I got a "pick me up" and it was perfect gave me a beautiful caffeine kick to start the day I recommend for sure. Weather you come for the viral moment this feels like a solid staple in the community with bright music playing everyone kind of everywhere and just a relaxed feel that you can't wait to enjoy after you get seated. We ordered the famous honey butter pancakes, the korean wings, and the breakfast sandwich with hash brown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. The honey butter pancakes were pretty good but kinda drenched in the butter that made it hard to finish. The korean wings were also alright but the batter to me was kinda thick and heavy and lacked crispiness. The best item we ordered was the breakfast sandwich with hashbrown, scrambled eggs, and sausage. I think the eggs are cooked with cheese, and as someone who typically does not eat cheese, I didn't mind it. I don't know if I'll be back again - I think the concept of an asian twist on the classic diner does sound intriguing but difficult to execute. I also wasn't a big fan of the wait time. If you typically like heavier, diner food then this spot might be the place for you!

Smaller than I thought. Now I know why there is always such a long wait.

The mapo tofu, green beans, twice cooked pork, and spicy (lazi) chicken were very flavorful. I thought the mala levels were just right, but it may be on a bit on the lighter side compared to authentic. The lamb spine came in a delicious broth, but it was a bit hard eating the lamb from the bone for not a lot of meat. The house steamed fish was also amazing. They don't take online reservations for groups over 5, so we called to make one for our group of 6. It was pretty busy Friday night, so would recommend. The service was great; they drew the cutest card when they found out it was my brother's birthday and let us bring a cake. And they also offered hair ties to the people with long hair. You order through an iPad which has a beautiful menu.
