Here's what you do. You drive to Winthrop on a weekend morning, making sure that it's before 9 a.m. or so (to avoid the line, of course). You order the eggs florentine with a side of homefries, and an iced tea with lemon to wash it all down. You grab a seat and then you wait for your delicious breakfast to arrive at your table. And then you devour that stuff. And the eggs will be perfectly cooked. And there will be piles of fresh spinach, wilted, but not heated to death. And there will be pools of golden, velvety hollandaise sauce draped atop each muffin/spinach/egg creation. And you'll want to lick any leftover sauce off your plate. But you'll decide to dip your remaining homefries in it instead. All of this deliciousness will only run you about $8. You're welcome. read more

Jac's is Winthrop's best spot for breakfast. Sure, there are other places in different parts of town, but none can beat Jacs for quality and price. Most of the others seem to be typical greasy spoon diners where you leave feeling like you have a pool of grease floating above your spleen. Food: Jac's food is what you would expect from a breakfast joint, but does not come served in a puddle of grease like, say, High Tide Diner on the other side of town. I can't comment on their lunch, but their breakfasts are good. The bacon is crisp, the pancakes are fluffy yet dense, the french toast is fantastic. Their homefries are boring, but acceptable (I prefer mine cooked with a bit more herbs and spices and such. Their eggs are cooked well. I enjoy their smoothies, which are nothing really special but are very well priced and a good value. The real gem, which I even hesitate to write here so that people won't snatch them up, is their muffins. Don't be deceived, some of their muffins are clearly from Costco or something like that, but they also have a batch or two of homemade muffins that are (no joke) some of the best muffins I have ever had. There are bakeries all around Boston making dry, expensive, "fancy" muffins that are absolutely dreadful compared to these moist, light, delicious pieces of early morning heaven. Price: Very reasonable. For the price, you are getting a great deal. In my mind, they are cheaper than average. Ambiance: Jac's, is not only cheaper than the other local options, it is a bit classier. Now, please take the word "classy" with a grain of salt. This is Winthrop, after all, not Back Bay, but everything is clean, bright and modern. The staff is fairly friendly and the patrons are regular townies. It is a comfortable, casual feel. My only warning is that on weekends it isn't uncommon to have to wait a bit for a table and/or be crowded by waiting patrons if you sit by the door. All in all, the best breakfast in Winthrop by far. read more

Went once for breakfast and was treated quite rudely by the man at the counter. I am a local but the counter staff stared and talked about me because I asked for service. My issue was not the food but, if you have issues with diversity, you should remember Muslims have money too. read more

Do not be discouraged by the name! Jac's Ice Cream Shoppe, as far as I could tell, doesn't serve a lick of ice cream. But based on reviews from other Yelpers, my boyfriend and I decided to try this place out for a quick breakfast. It was pretty standard - they had a mix of eggs, egg sandwiches + burritos, muffins, french toast and pancakes. The place is very small but even with a packed house we didn't wait long for an open table. We tried the Eggs Benedict and Eggs Florentine - both were good. It was all around a positive new addition to our mix of local establishments to visit. And the biggest plus - it was cheap. I was disappointed in the rudeness of the staff (c'mon, just cause you're from East Boston doesn't mean you need to be so gruff all the time). And probably cleaning the tables between customers would be a good idea but neither of these will prevent me from returning again. A big plus was the beer/liquor store right across the Shoppe. I know - this sounds pathetic - but I was seriously glad I wouldn't have to make a beer run later that night! read more

I love this place. Everybody seems to know everybody else. I love that small town vibe. I also love the Jac's breakfast burrito with eggs, cheese, potato and bacon. I'm not an iced coffee person, but everyone seems to love it. The hot coffee is decent and they have iced tea year round, which I love. Also, the prices are great! I suggest getting the food to go unless you're lucky enough to walk in right as a table is being vacated. The wait can be a little uncomfortable when the order counter gets busy. read more

I woke up ravenous as usual wondering if Beyonce ever woke up like dis. I knew I needed some food asap. I called my friend Jack( Ironic because he loves Jac's and better yet his name is John). We strolled over to "Winthrop by the Sea" to find Jac's popping off. They were throwing snickerdoodle iced coffee hail marys out the door hitting girls in the face taking selfies down Deer Island. The amount of girls self loathing while seeking comfort in a pumpkin coffee was exactly what I had expected for this beautiful autumnal weather. I decided to go with the corn beef and hash. I specifically asked for it well done and thats exactly how I got it. I was very pleased with the service. A nice young gentlemen brought me over my food. He was very accommodating. Im thinking if I asked him to make me a napkin bib he would have. Maybe he would have even tucked it in my shirt for me. Now that is good service. This is very comforting since I cover all my breakfast food in ketchup. Luckily I walked away with ketchup only on my plate and not my face and clothes. This was not my first time at Jac's and it always seems to satisfy my hunger. Last thing anyone needs is me acting like Danny Devito because I am hungry and start yelling at people. Breakfast is always on point. What I really love about this place is the wraps. If I could I would put everything in a wrap. Spaghetti and meatballs, cheeseburgers, mac and cheese, no problem Im gonna put it in a wrap. This place is almost like Cheers because everyone knows your name. Unless you are from Revere and they dont want to know your name at all. Take my advice and be like Drake but be Draee(Do Right And Eat Everything) instead. I'd like to say I'm a regular at Jac's, but I'm not from the area, so I just frequent. They have very affordable and delicious basics. It's a good weekend breakfast place or a weekday to-go place. I like that you order and pay up front so there isn't the extra cost of waiter service, but they still deliver your food to your table. They have a bunch of different flavored coffees that are all really good and their smoothies are delicious as well. Definitely a little place to check out! read more

This is such a cute little cafe with a very small town vibe. The people were friendly and the food was fantastic! I had the half mountain muffin and wished I had ordered the full. I go here most mornings for coffee. The girls all know me and my coffee order. The food is delicious and filling. It does tend to get crowded but go off peak and it is nice and quiet. I love a great bagel from time to time and hate those dun kin donuts type bread bagels. These bagels remind me true bagel company's that do old school bagels rather then just baked bread type bagels. Solid breakfast/brunch place. Had the breakfast bagel sandwich with bacon and it was very tasty with thin and crispy bacon. The had a cinnamon roll and a muffin and both were pretty bad, skip these. I just finished breakfast at Jac's Cafe and it was delicious & very reasonably priced! It's Tuesday morning - I arrived about 8 A.M. and there were plenty of open tables, which is not the case apparently if you arrive after 9 on weekends! I ordered the French toast, since I saw it reviewed very favorably on Yelp. It was perfectly cooked, not too soggy or made with thin slices of bread. The accompanying bacon was nice & crisp & the coffee hot and tasty, not bitter. I came to Winthrop to attend a funeral, but I will be back!
