A great spot for drinks with amazing views both day and night. Every drink we ordered was spectacular and delicious. The food is also amazing, and pretty large portions. The crudite comes in a gigantic portion and all veggies were very fresh. Truffle fries are to die for and are nice and crispy thick cut pieces. But the best part was our server, Aspen. We came in all at one with a ten top and she took great care of us with a genuine smile the whole time. She even remembered some names and created great conversation. The cocktails are tasty and the ambiance is great. You can look out over the city, enjoy a fire and they'll even bring you a blanket if you're cold. A hidden gem. It also benefits from the "dark sky" rules in the area that allow you to see the stars at night. Great place to begin or end a date. We've eaten at The Sanctuary (the restaurant at the same hotel) once and it was just as lovely. read more

The food and drinks were very good. Came here for happy hour and tried most of the hh menu. Everything was very good, but my dad had been drinking titos soda and the last drink he got was casamigos soda. He is allergic to agave and had one sip. The bartender fixed his drink, but our server never acknowledged the mistake and our bill still showed the more expensive casamigos. read more

Most of my time while in Phoenix/Scottsdale I was looking at Camelback Mountain. While checking out the Sanctuary resort, I was able to see the beautiful city while on Camelback Mountain. Sooooooo pretty! Seriously. I arrived to check out their restaurant/bar right at sunset and it was an absolutely gorgeous view. My visit wasn't very long, unfortunately. It was a quick stop en route to dinner but we were able to hang out long enough for a drink. As food was being served, my eyes were in awe with how delicious everything looked. My brown derby cocktail was delicious but what really made this experience great was the views sitting atop the mountain. There was live music. The look was contemporary. The vibe was chic. On top of all the beautiful people, you can see the pool, part of the city, and the sunset. Rumor has it a lot of celebrities come to Sanctuary/Jade Bar... if that's your thing to see them out and about. As nice as this place was, I can see why. read more

Came here after a really relaxing spa day, and chaos ensued. When we arrived there were only two other people seated at the bar and two tables. Maybe two other tables joined throughout the two hours we were there. We were greeted kindly by the bar tender who was responsible for the entire bar area and restaurant drinks. It quickly became obvious that he was in over his head. The first sign of trouble was huffing and puffing around the bar, forgetting the alcohol in one of the cocktails. We had to remind him of our order multiple times, and struggled to get another round of drinks. When our food came, I asked the food runner for share plates and a side of dressing, to which he responded "I'll get your server." Needless to say we had to ask the bar tender five minutes later. Overall, the bar tender's constant obvious exclamations of disdain for the lack of support he had made this dining experience very poor. $200 later and we left far more stressed than we entered. One star food, one star cocktails, one star, the view. Definitely come here BEFORE your spa day. read more

You'll find one of the prettiest views in the Valley at Jade Bar, the recently remodeled lounge at Sanctuary Camelback that overlooks Camelback Mountain. At night, the houses dot the mountain with lights, creating a beautiful backdrop to the chic Jade Bar décor. I can only imagine a sunset view is breathtaking. Thanks to Jan Bracamonte of J. Lauren PR for inviting me to try some menu items and some cocktails. There's always something fun happening at Jade Bar. Every day from 4-6 p.m., it hosts "The Pour" happy hour, with draft beer for $5, wine for $6, and specialty cocktails for $8. There's live music Friday nights from 7-10 p.m., and Saturday's at 1 p.m., there's a Mixology 101 course ($30), limited to 10 people that features how to make some of Jade Bar's signature cocktails. Considering all the signature cocktails are usually $14 apiece, head to happy hour to try them for nearly half-off. My favorite was the Pepper Smash #2, with mint, Krogstad Aquavit, fresh lime juice, fresh yellow bell pepper juice, and maple syrup. I don't think I've ever had a drink with fresh yellow bell pepper juice, and this cocktail had a nice spicy kick I loved. Sweet and spicy cocktails are some of my favorites, and this one was garden fresh and tasty. I also tried the Botticelli, with vodka, bitters, fresh lime juice, fresh grapefruit juice, and champagne. This was light and fruity and refreshing, like a dressed-up version of champagne. I was lucky enough to try several of the vegetarian food offerings, too, by chef Beau MacMillan, who hosted Food Network's 'Worst Cooks in America.' Not surprisingly, considering how fancy Jade Bar's sister restaurant elements is, this was the most upscale bar food I've tried - even the chips and onion dip ($8) had a chic twist, with caramelized onions that gave the dip a sweet flavor I've never tasted in onion dip. The black bean and eggplant hummus and pita bread ($9) was great. The pita bread is baked freshly in-house, and the appetizer also came with a veggie "bento box" full of an array of fresh veggies. Some of the veggies didn't really make sense for hummus dipping to me (an onion, a cabbage leaf), but the veggies were a cute touch that certainly brightened up the plate. I also tried the edamame ($5), which, like the chips, was a generous portion. The edamame was as good as any I've tried at a sushi restaurant. But the biggest draw at Jade Bar is the ambiance and those views. Jade Bar is full of comfortable seating, with cushy chairs and couches anchored by marble, candlelit tables. The actual bar is huge and also had a big crowd congregating at it. Whether you want to have a romantic date or are in the mood to meet new people, Jade Bar's warm and bustling atmosphere seemed conducive to either, and the service was outstanding. On New Year's Eve, Jade Bar will be bringing regular dining tables into the lounge to serve a four-course dinner. Diners with table reservations also get a bottle of Cristal at midnight, and a DJ spins all night with a dance floor. Came here before our dinner reservation at Elements for a couple drinks and a bite to eat. The happy hour deals are great for such a gorgeous bar, 10 dollar drinks and 10-15 dollar small plates. Had the mezcal cocktail and a martini (Both were very good) and split the red dragon cauliflower (also highly recommended). It isn't enough to sit on a beautiful piece of land. Staff did not deliver or represented it. Our waitress was repulsive looking. She was wearing a black dress spotted with dirty spots front and back. She was also too busy chatting with other staff members to pay attention to our tables. I expect a five star to be represented with five star staff. I have never ever seen a waitress this dirty looking ever even in a casual diner. We have dined at the Element before so we know how exquisite the place can deliver. read more

My wife and I had a friend come into town and wanted to bring her to a place she would remember. We had been to the Element before and fell in love with the view so we went to the Jade Bar. Great view with great ambience. We went just to have some cocktails. Someone forgot to tell our server she supposed to wear clean clothes to work. She wore a black outfit that was filthy both front and back. When we wanted to pay for the drinks we had to stand up and wave her down because she was too busy chatting with a co worker to notice us. When paying 5 star prices we should receive 5 star service. Very disappointing. read more

My wife and I visited this place after talking about it for at least a year whenever we come into town. We always usually start out with a place that has a nice view and since my wife likes the spa here, we figured that we would finally check it out. The place is visually stunning when you look outside. Fantastic views. It's a people watching place as well. You have a good looking crowd which reminds you a bit of an L.A./Hollywood Hills area bar. We took some pictures outside and then sat at the bar for a couple of drinks and small plates. The bartender was very nice and helpful. The service here is very good considering how slammed they were. We had the Calamari which was ok and the Tuna Tartare which wasn't great. It was a small sample size and since we were here more for the atmosphere than the food, I am giving it 4-stars. We will return in the Fall and try some other items to compare. read more

Met 6 business friends there for cocktails and light snacks on a Tuesday. Brooke was our server - she was fantastic. Cocktails were well made and never empty. Homemade chips and onion dip - good. Shrimp cocktail - good. Dessert (some kind of sundae) - good. The while the sun is setting is gorgeous. There is outside seating with misters. Limited menu, but you could find something to eat. Korean BBQ quesadilla - YUM! Cuban sandwich. Great place to hang with friends while staying at the resort. read more

How it took me almost five years to make my way to Jade Bar, I don't know... but wow! Even on a rainy night, Jade Bar was warm, cozy, welcoming, and more than a perfect place to end my week. (Well, sort of - I still have to work through the weekend but you know what I mean!) We sat down and Rachel came over with drink menus shortly after. We enjoyed the company and the ambiance and I tried to decide between ordering a glass of wine and a specialty drink. While the "Sugar Snap South Side" (house made sugar snap pea infused ketel one vodka kissed with hand pressed mint, fresh lemon juice & rounded out with a dollop of pasteurized egg white) was the cocktail that was most appealing to me, I went with a glass of Argentinian Malbec instead. (I'm choosing wines from Argentina lately to gear up for an upcoming honeymoon!) 10/28/11 Met friends here for cocktails to kick off celebrations for Michele M.'s birthday! It was all our first time at Sanctuary Resort & Spa and its Jade Bar- many exclaimed how small the bar was- nothing at all as what they pictured it would be after checking out the resort's website. I liked the atmosphere here, intimate and, at least at the beginning, very quiet, allowing easy conversations w/out our shouting at one another. (This changed when day turned to night.) Whatever indoor audio atmosphere Jade Bar lost as day at night, the aural pool display outside made up! I had a mojito, or some flavored variety of it, I believe. It was just OK. I don't think I even finished half of it. I really, really enjoyed the Charred lime and togarashi edamame! I like edamame, don't get me wrong, but I was never moved to order them from any venue before, bec. it's EDAMAME. Salted soybeans. Some places might add some black pepper to the mix. No big whoop. But oh, boy! My opinion on this has changed with Jade Bar's charred edamame. First thing I'll do when I return is order a bowl of these babies. Second thing I'll do is NOT order the hummus! No, I'm not a fan of the hummus here. Y'know, it makes me wonder about what dining at Elements might be like. If the kitchen can whip out these magic beans, what other surprises may I uncover? I feel Jade Bar deserves it's own separate entry because it is a much different experience than Elements and people go to Sanctuary for the specific purpose of going to Jade Bar. It's its own destination. I picked up my husband from the airport after a week of business travel and brought him here so we could catch up and I could get him drunk (something that is much needed after a week of business travel). Jade Bar provided the perfect setting. It is a beautifully appointed lounge with amazing views of the valley and impeccable service. The bartender, Greg, was fantastic - he was very friendly and kept surprising my husband with all sorts of different drinks. My advice if you go there is to just ask Greg to make whatever he feels like making and you won't be disappointed. He made my husband a grapefruit and basil martini and a cantaloupe martini and both were great. I had a mojito which was fantastic. There is also a pretty extensive cigar list and a lovely patio with a fire pit to enjoy your choice. The crowd is interesting, a mix of older and younger patrons. But no cougars or sugar daddies here, it was all couples and groups. My husband and I remarked that this is the kind of crowd that appeared to be "empty nester" parents going out to enjoy an evening. It's not overly loud so conversation was easy. But get there early to get seats because it's small and fills up quickly (we arrived at 6:00 and by 7:00 the place was filled). You can order off the Elements menu which was amazing. We ordered 2 apps, which was the perfect amount and filled us up. The goat cheese fondue with spinach was out of this world. The clams and chorizo in cream sauce was equally as delicious. The valet is complimentary, which is always appreciated. In the end, we left with full tummies and happy glows. read more

Jade Bar at the Sanctuary Hotel is a quintessential Scottsdale experience. Situated in a desert setting offering unobstructed views of Camelback Mountain and outdoor seating with a fireplace (great for cool evenings), it is the perfect place to catch a famous Scottsdale sunset. I came with my girlfriends for happy hour before dinner and was pleased with the high level of service and upscale ambience. If you are visiting Scottsdale, it is a great place to stop by even for just a drink. It's taken me weeks to post this review as I've had a difficult time finding the words to express how impressed I am with the staff at the Jade Bar. Sure the view is awesome and the drinks are perfectly blended and chilled. Yet, they are each put to shame by a staff who presents each with class and style. We attended Mixology - which can only be described as Alton Brown's dream of a class on mixing drinks. You learn not only the unique history behind each drink but receive a bountiful cupful of the joy you've just learned about. I highly recommend hitting this class with a group of friends. 1.0 star rating 2/24/2014 Went here today with about 15 friends, This place was a mad house. It was so crowded and noisy I couldn't even hear myself think. Even with reservations they had no place we could sit together. We ended up sitting at the bar in groups of 2-4. Had heard they had a good HH and that is why we went there. WRONG. They had only 2 kinds of beer of which I didn't care for either. Wine list was very small and no wines I drink on that either. I asked for a HH food menu and he replies "we dont' have it yet". I asked him when as HH had already started and thought they may not have got it up to the cocktail lounge area yet. He goes "it will probably be a few months. From all of this I knew this was not the place I wanted to be at for a HH. I will avoid this place in the future for HH as there are many others that have a better selection of beer and wines and actually some really good food. read more

Very cool spot. Definitely get there in time for sunset for an unbeatable view. Drinks were very unique. My husband and I both got the salmon. We usually try to get different meals but we both were dying for the salmon. The sauce was sweet and tangy. The noodles were a nice touch and the roasted veggies were a perfect crunch. The actually salmon was cooked to a nice medium with a good crunch on the outside. The only critique is that the bar does get a little noisy but it is a bar so that should be expected. read more

A vibrant bar that is housed by glass giving you a scenic desert Mountain View's. I'm not a regular. I tend to stop by every blue moon and have never been disappointed. The scene is dark with dim lighting. A romantic spot or a nice place to have a relaxing evening. Often there is a live band at night to enjoy while munching on appetizers. I love the menu. With much anticipation, my friends and I were looking forward to our girls weekend get-a-way and great evening at Jade Bar. The ambiance, the food was exceptional, however, the lack of service took away from what would have been an amazing experience. Waiting 25 mins for someone to come and take our drink order and then getting it wrong was just the beginning. Suffice to say, after calling the bar manager Art with our experience, he came back with misinformation from his staff. Good luck folks, hopefully, you'll have a better experience, especially from the condescending bun wearing young lady. I guess spending $500 wasn't good enough for them. What a shame. read more

Jade Bar is a good reason to go to the gorgeous Sanctuary Resort. It's beautiful to walk the ground and see the view. One day I'll go to Elements for a special occasion or when I'm rich enough to go there for no reason at all :) I wanted to take my bf to a nice, unique, romantic place for some drinks and apps for his birthday. I heard the bar was small so tried to get there fairly early and lucked out getting a table. We had a couple drinks and also got the Calamari and the Market Greens. These things are usually pretty ordinary, but this is Chef Beau Mac's world, so just the sauce with the calamari made it a calamari in its own league. Even the salad was damn tasty. It was a good experience, again looking forward to really get a taste of Chef Beau at Elements. At Jade Bar: 2 beers, 1 glass of wine, calamari, market greens =$50 plus tip. Perhaps we shoulda ordered an entree to split :) Some things are worth the cost. We'll be back. Oh, and another reviewer's comment that everyone is over 40 in there...TRUE. read more

This was a last minute happy hour idea from the hubby and came here to watch the sunset. We came here on Friday, and they still had some open seating available in the patio. I was happy to hear that they offered the same food menu as their neighboring restaurant Elements. We both started with Grey Goose Martinis. They were mixed to perfection!!! Now for the bites portion: -Fried Calamari - delicious with a tangy cream sauce -Foie Gras - My FAVORITE EVER! Paired with a pineapple upside cake. The flavors where unbelievable. -Short ribs - Filling and flavorful. We want to thank our waitress Jen! She did such a great job and explained the menu thoroughly! read more

I came to the bar with my sisters and mom for lunch. The drinks (right away chef & a little r&r) we had were one of the best cocktails we had in Phoenix! We also tried a few appetizers that were very good- the shishito peppers, the charcuterie plate, and chicken quesadilla (favorite!). The eggplant hummus was interesting. We attended the mixology class here yesterday and this review is for the class. Apparently it was supposed to be in the Jade bar and we were supposed to have the hands-on experience of making our own drinks. Their website even states that class size is limited to 10. Unfortunately, this is not what happened. There were at least 20 people there and they moved us into a room adjacent to the restaurant. We watched our host make drinks and waitresses brought us those same drinks that were pre-made in the kitchen. For me, part of the enjoyment of these kinds of events is learning something new. I am much more likely to make things myself at home if I've done it in a class. All we got to do was watch the guy make drinks and it honestly wasn't much different than the nights I've spent at The Merc Bar watching the bartenders make magic (and I have to say, their bartenders are TALENTED... this guy.. not so much). Our bartender seemed like a very nice guy but honestly, he wasn't a very good speaker and he didn't even really seem that knowledgeable about booze. The value of the class is pretty good - for $30, you get 4 drinks. It would have been a superb deal had we been able to actually make the drinks. And the drinks were delightful. Our tables had brochures with drink recipes that were in the same style of things being made in class but were not what we were served. I found this confusing. In other classes we've done, we received handouts with the recipes that were covered. The resort itself is beautiful and I thoroughly enjoyed the time we spent there. I just don't feel like we got what we paid for. :( read more
