Two Lavender Ladies, which are signature cocktails at the Mix Up Bar
    Cory S.

When my wife and I stayed at the Royal Palms for an anniversary getaway this Fall, we enjoyed learning about different events taking place around the resort. One of our favorites was a mixology class at the Mix Up Bar, which we had included in our resort stay. The regular price was $50 per person. We also enjoyed welcome cocktails and happy hour snacks and drinks at different points of our stay. The staff and bartenders were great, and we enjoyed knowing that the Mix Up Bar was open even when the restaurant wasn't. The mixology class was led by the Mix Up Bar's creative team of mixologies who taught us how to shake up one of their signature cocktails, so we could recreate it at home. We watched and learned from their skills while they shared tips, tricks and suggestions along the way to craft the perfect cocktail. There were only six of us going through the class (though we certainly recommend to make a reservation in advance for the class or speak to the front desk to see if they can help you confirm a space if it's full). We each got to choose which signature cocktail we wanted to learn to make. The class was 30 minutes, and the bartender placed everything we needed to make the cocktail right in front of us and walked us through step-by-step. While I cannot recall what my signature cocktail was called, my wife learned to make a Lavender Lady, a blend of vodka, local honey and lemon. While I enjoyed what I made, I came back to try a Lavender Lady another time while at the resort. The Mix Up Bar serves food and drinks beyond signature cocktails. The bites include wings, short rib arancini, bruschetta, truffle fries, charcuterie, hummus, crab cake, salads, tacos, burgers, and sandwiches. The drinks include everything you'd have at any other bar. Happy hour specials are daily from 4-6 PM and include 50% off all bites and salads, $3 off draft beers, $4 off wines by the glass, and $3 off specialty cocktails.

super yummy drinks! i've had both cocktails & mock tails here and both are flavorful and refreshing! the staff is very attentive without being over bearing. this is our second time here and my biggest complaints are that the live music is way too loud and this time there was a very unpleasant vomit like smell. we enjoyed the drinks in the courtyard to solve both of those issues

This is a casual, yet nice place if you don't want to do dinner in the restaurant. They serve a lot of the same things and are very knowledgeable about cocktails. I ate there a couple times during my stay and didn't have any issues getting a seat at the bar for dinner.

The Bone Marrow on the current menu is simply divine, totally recommend. Although I pretty much love the whole menu lol. You really can't go wrong with any of the food or cocktails. Natalia is a delight, her and Romeo have excellent knowledge of cocktails and explain things beautifully on how and why they do things to give you an impeccable cocktail, totally recommend taking the mixology class, it's alot of fun AND you get a cocktail which is always a plus for me.

We were looking to support a black owned restaurant and this restaurant somehow came up as black owned. I am not sure if it is black owned or not but We absolutely enjoyed ourselves here! We were immediately greeted by valet and I mean immediately. We walked to the Mix Up and was immediately greeted by the host and offered seating options. There was a wedding so we decided to sit on the front patio and enjoy the nuptials reception live entertainment. We were greeted by our waitress, then a guy name Sasha came out to welcome us, and another person welcomed us. I felt extremely welcomed here. They made accommodations for my nondairy non flesh eating life style. I ordered the Brussels sprouts and leak soup, the Brussel Sprout bowel was plenty of food I really didn't need the soup. My husband had the Salmon he ordered it well with no skin, it is normally served med well with skin. We also ordered a bottle of Tempranillo One of our favorite wines. The service was outstanding along with the food. We lucked up with the wedding as one of my favorite things to do is to people watch so I moved my seat to get a closer view and our waiter said "we encourage people to be themselves". I so loved the comment... no judgement zone there! The bathrooms were really clean as well, I am really impressed about that with the amount of traffic they had there that the bathrooms were really clean.

This is the bar on the Royal Palms Resort property and I couldn't be more happier regarding our visit. Driving in we were immediately greeted and asked what we needed, valet, public parking, the bar, etc. So yes, you have both valet or if you continue on the roundabout there's a lot for public parking. The bar (go through the main courtyard with a fountain to get there) was extremely elegant and sophisticated, simply stunning. There's even a fireplace, and romantic lighting. Our server, Katie, was very attentive and informative, telling us about the history of the property (it used to be someone's home) as well as what else the property has to offer, a pool, verandas, etc. The food was excellent, we had the Sirloin Skewers and the Chocolate Torte. Both were very rich and resonably priced. The grounds itself were beautiful, lots of pathways to walk and talk. There are even a couple of courtyards and water features where you can unwind and relax. If you're very adventurous, there's a corn hole game and a giant Jenga set near a cabana going east of the bar. (I'm glad we explored the property!) While playing corn hole after our delicious meal we were even offered water by staff that saw us playing - wonderful service! So if you're looking for a delightful, classy, and fun date night, look no further. :) Loved this place, and will be back!

You really can't beat the feeling of escaping reality as you pull up and walk into the Royal Palms Resort. I've been a regular visitor through the years, dating back well before the renovation just over a year ago, and my husband was more of a regular for years before me! The Mix Up Bar definitely mixed things up from their PR (pre-renovation) days. I've been several times since and I still really enjoy the atmosphere and friendly service... I'm not going to lie; it's not exactly like the good ol' days though! What's consistent is the people-watching, attentive service, live music on many nights, solid cocktails, beer and wine to choose from. There is also a certain je ne sais quoi about this place... it's definitely a gem! The food menu isn't as impressive as it used to be... I miss the lobster bisque and paella! I am pretty sure they still have the amazing bread with pesto, and you can't go wrong with that, but not a ton of other items appealed to me. On a recent visit, we shared a charcuterie plate, a side of brussels sprouts, and a cauliflower soup. I wouldn't get the soup again, but the other items weren't bad! Eric who runs the bar now is easy to chat with and does a great job... no doubt we'll be back soon, even without some of my old time favorite menu items!

Every now and then I'm taken by surprise. The Mix Up bar is nestled in royal palms hotel and is picture perfect and stunning. My hubby and I really enjoyed walking the grounds of this gorgeous resort. The Mix Up bar features fresh cocktails with a rotating season menu. There were so many we tried and our favorites were the Smoke on the Watermelon with mezcal and local hellfire bitters and the Bourbon Bergamot with bourbon, earl grey and lemon. But really all were refreshing and incredible, like the Royal Peach, Silver Rose, kiwi-colada, and Fresh Prince

We sat outside in the evening shade for a nice gathering. We shared the Cuban Caesar salad with romaine, manchego cheese, sliced pears, toasted pepitas, masa croutons, avocado, fried plantain chips and Aji amarillo Caesar. The salad was crisp, well dressed and delicious with the fried / curled plantain chips. The shrimp cerviche with fried plantains, blue corn tortilla chips, lime, cilantro and cucumber pico de gallo was ok but not remarkable. Our final selection was the Gaucho spiced skirt steak with chimichurri, and masa potato cakes. The steak was overcooked, not medium rare, bland taste and tough. The potato cake was tasteless. Overall, the ambience and service was good, however, the food lacks any hint of Cuban flare except for the fried plantains. When I think of Cuban food, I salivate for the unique taste profiles with a hint of sweetness from the fruits. At The canal Club, I found it non-existing. The name, setting, and environment is good but the kitchen needs to let in on the theme being Cuban.

When we arrived, it was a bit confusing, as there wasn't really any signage or staff who were willing to assist in directing us to the the place - the hostess at the elements restaurant was snippy and was just rude for no reason! The setup at jade bar was fine; sitting by the windows is your best bet to get a nicer view; however, there was a wedding that was taking place outside, so we couldn't access to have the option to do an al fresco experience. There was no hostess, and the waitstaff seemed to be limited; we didn't know this was just a 'walk-in and grab a seat at any table' type of a setup - We ordered: +the Truffle Tots - did not expect what this dish was; the romesco sauce was just not good +a California maki roll - the imitation crab meat had an off taste to them, and it wasn't tightly rolled so everything fell apart +and, the Chicken Wings - this was covered in some type of a sticky/hoisin type of a sauce; the chicken was NOT cooked through, and we thought we were going to get sick We ordered the Blueberry Dreams (prepared with buffalo trace bourbon, lillet rouge, blueberry lemon, honey, and ginger) and the Spicy Margarita (prepared with deleon blanco tequila, cucumber, jalapeno, and lime) - both were made very strong and were aesthetically pleasing. The seating area and the chairs could have been wiped down and cleaned better; we noticed stains on the furniture. Now I realize that the 2026 was a Summer Olympics and Curling is part of the Winter Olympics, but we didn't care Upon entry to go to the host stand and tell them what you're looking to do (activities vs bar/waiting). The space is relatively open and you can immediately see the fully stocked bar, the bowling area, the back axe throwing lanes, and the enclosed curling lanes. We opted for a package that got us unlimited games (any) for an hour. We started with curling and we didn't need any special clothes or shoes. We were lead to a lane and it's set up like shuffleboard (you can stand on either side and there's two separate color stones). There's ice where you glide your stones and you stand on rubber for traction. You can glide by hand or use a piece of equipment that is essentially a stick to help push and guide your stone. There's an attendant on duty to help any stones that are stuck or that don't make it down the lane The experience was awesome. We've always wanted to try curling, but it's difficult to find somewhere that is set up to let you do that. We were amazed that we finally tried it in a desert of all places. There are no brushes like in typical curling, but you still get a sense of the Olympic activity. The bowling was fun too, but it's a smaller version like you might see in some novelty bars. Axe throwing was that of typical ax throwing. You had a couple different sizes of axes, there's lanes and you throw at a wooden target. They had computers to input your name and keep track of points. It was sometimes difficult to stick the wooden target, but it was fun We didn't try the food or drink, but everything looked good. The staff were very helpful. It was a weekend, and it wasn't overly crowded which was nice. Overall it was a fun experience Some tips: If your stones seem to be getting stuck down the lane, ask the attendant to move you to another lane. That's what we did and it made all the difference Explore the rest of bustling Old Town Scottsdale. There's literally something for everyone, and definitely check out the Frybread Lounge for some great Native American fusion cuisine Chee

The restaurant is trendy, stylish, and undeniably cute. I especially got a kick out of the little lamps on the tables that turn red when you want a tableside martini. We aren't drinkers, but I thought it was a fun and clever touch. One thing that surprised me right away was that bread wasn't included. Instead, we were served some crunchy snacks to munch on. Maybe I'm old-fashioned, but I'd much rather have warm bread. It feels simpler, tastier, and more welcoming. For appetizers, we ordered the burrata and calamari. Both were tasty, but the peppers in the calamari packed a serious punch. I wish there had been a little warning about the spice level because it definitely caught me off guard. Then again, I suppose anything called "Sexy Roman" has to bring a little heat. For dinner, we shared the chicken parm and the lobster pasta. The chicken parm was decent, though I found the chicken a bit tough. The lobster pasta was flavorful and well prepared, but once again, quite spicy. At least that time we knew what we were getting into. Service was fine, but not exceptional. I was inhaling water to cool down from all the spice and had to ask for refills multiple times, which felt like an easy thing to stay ahead of. In the end, there wasn't anything terrible about the experience. The food was good, the atmosphere was fun, and the concept is unique. But between the high prices, smaller portions, and service that didn't quite match the upscale vibe, I don't think we'll be rushing back.
