food is good here, no complaints that way. bountiful, hot and fresh. takes more than that to make me want to go back though. my friend and i ate here very recently. we were happy until we got the bill. 83.00 for our two meals and an appetizer we shared. i had water, she had a pepsi. my friend had asked for rice to take home with her leftovers. they charged her 5.00 for a side of rice. FIVE DOLLARS. yes, 5.00. for RICE. we were both freaking out over the total amt. of 88.00 for our two meals, as it was, then she noticed the 5.00 charge for the rice. she then noticed the price difference on the check, compared to those on the menu. they charged us an extra 5.00 for my meal of "sizzling chicken" whatever it was platter, and an extra 6.00 for her shrimp and whatever meal. they need to update the menu so people KNOW OF THE STEEP PRICE INCREASE. we were both so stunned by the total amt., and my friend was so shocked they charged so much for the rice, that we just sort of stumbled out like drunken zombies. the next day we were angry at ourselves for not saying something. it's called "sticker shock", i guess? an indian restaurant we love in clifton park always just sends us home with our leftovers w. fresh, extra rice, without us even asking. our minds were blown after our last visit to jade bistro. We tried Jade Bistro solely based on good reviews and my fellow yelpers never steer me wrong. Jade Bistro is such a gem! Apparently many other people know that as well because for 5:15 pm on a Friday there was a good crowd. Still no wait but there was a lot of people there. Love that they have specials- looked like a drink special, app, and few entree specials. The drink menu is impressive and i LOVE that you can get pitchers of the mojitos as well as by the glass. The menu has a fair selection of apps, sushi, Chinese (hibachi and teriyaki) as well as some Thai options. We had the sweet tea lemonade mojito by the pitcher. Still nice and strong and so refreshing- we loved it. We started with the jade dumplings again based on reviews and they were so delicious. I had the three rolls for $16 which came with soup and salad. All the sushi was very fresh, some of the best sushi I've had in the capital region for sure. Soup and salad were delicious as well as not small servings. My partner had the steak and shrimp teriyaki which he really liked. They gave him a whole piece of steak which was cooked perfect. The only complaint of the entire experience was the small rice portion- overall that was so minute that it didn't affect our feelings toward Jade Bistro. This place is amazing and i would recommend to anyone looking for a quaint, versatile and delicious place to eat. read more

Loved the food, loved the decor, the beer selection and most of all Sushi!!! I was so disappointed when we first moved to Schenectady and we tried Mr. W (they were so bad, the food was aweful)!! I will be driving to Scotia now every time I need sushi. My husband and I love sushi and need a good fix every other week, happy hours are so rare to come across too. Jade was so good to us. We came today (Wednesday) around 5:30! Got a seat at the bar because it was happy hour, the restaurant was packed by 6:00 pm. Lots of locals and the bartender Allie was really nice. Got the TsaoSing beer (Chinese beer) I need to try the Kawaba next time (microbrewery in Japan) and two people next to me ordered it and said it's the way. The pork gyoza was great and the sauce. California and spicy mix rolls were yummy. We loved the sushi sampler which wasn't as good of a deal on the HH menu as it is in the actual menu. My husband and I wanted more food after our appetizers so we each ordered a specialty roll and that was the test to see how we would rate this place- definitely 5/5 stars we must've just picked really good ones. In all honesty all the dishes around us looked wonderful. The Pacific roll will be my go to! Full of flavor and definitely hit the spot! My husbands double dragon roll was yummy (he's more of the spicy tuna lover than I am). Called in a lunch order, even has it read back for accuracy, picked it up an hour later and bowls that were ordered completely wrong! They tried to say it was us who ordered it incorrectly..completely false!! Not only rude, they took the bowls we had been given and took contents and switched them out! My husband and I have frequented this establishment. I have even been here for work meetings. It's very delightful. The ambience when you walk in is fresh and open. We have always been immediately greeted and immediately sat. The food and the presentation is sincerely second to none. The drinks as well. Every once in a while we do run into a weird service problem where we are kind of ignored for like 20 to 30 minutes at a time, even though my husband and I are very low maintenance .... that's not really the best practice of course. He always gets some sort of fried rice and he always absolutely loves it and I am a sashimi girl and it's always very tasty. We will definitely be back soon. read more

They would easily be a 4 star if they had some better hosting staff as there is often a very real language barrier that can be uncomfortable when dealing with simple things. This review is for take out service. They did not get our order correct. The first time I called they hung up. The second time I called they asked me three or four times what I had ordered. I told them them I didn't really want to go back and I wanted them to take money off our bill. They said the only choice I had was to bring back the wrong food and they would give me what I originally ordered. I went back and got my lettuce wrap and brought back the chicken they accidentally gave me. ( Heaven help the person who ends up with that). They took two whole dollars off my bill. Their food is good but if this is the service, not sure I will continue to patronize the "Jade". Treat your customers right and they will keep coming. I've been to Jade a few times. I would say while the food is always good - the service could use some work. I actually have been completely done eating my meal before when my boyfriend had not even received his yet. We also have waited for the check for over ten minutes on more than 1 occasion. We do love Jade Bistro but have started branching out in search of other Thai food as of late. The environment is great and everyone is very pleasant, but nothing is spicy! When we order curry we order it spicy and it never comes that way. We tell them we aren't afraid of the heat make it as hot as you can and the server will come back with a plate of the same curry as always and a side of cayenne pepper and say "the chef was afraid of making it too hot so he's gonna let you do it". Okay but that's not why I go to a restaurant (to add my own spices) and the very very end after everything is cooked is not the time to add these spices if you want them properly married through the curry. This place ruined what would have been an enjoyable Saturday night with friends The food was wack, the staff (aside from the helpful bartenders) were both completely disinterested in quality service, and seemed to thrive off of each other's misery. Most importantly to mention however was layout which was a nightmare. All the tables are huge and circular making it impossible to talk to anyone but your immediate neighbor because of the noise level. My wife and I waited over 5 minutes at the empty hostess stand BOTH TIMES while the bartender looked at us and made drinks. I'm confused as to why a food establishment wouldn't seat two folks that have been visibly waiting for a while. I came here with a group of friends at lunch time. It was quite busy with stream of customers. We sat at the table and nobody came to take orders or to bring water for good 15 mins. Then this server came and started taking the order. One of my friends tried to order drink and dish but the server cut her off "dishes only now. Drinks later". Then another friend of mine asked him a question. He cut her off and went to the other end of table to take orders. I have never seen this rude behavior in the service industry. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because of its good food. HOWEVER, 2 of my friends told me the food quality can be much worse depending on the days. I came in on a Friday evening before the dinner rush approx 4pm. To my surprise I had been waiting at the door for 10 minutes before I was seated. The surprising part is there were only 4 customers in the restaurant when I arrived so I don't know why the wait to be seated was so long. Once at the bar I had to wait an additional 15 mins for my drink and an additional 25 mins just to place my order. I have to emphasize while I was there the place was practically empty. The quality and customer service has declined over the past two years. The Tom Yum and Hot and Sour Soup are good. Their Lychee Martini would bring me back. We ordered Teriyaki Chicken which was a total disappointment. The Duck was fatty and the crispy pan fried Noodles which I had in the past and enjoyed all had a similar and bland sauce. They make pretty Sushi rolls and they taste fine.
