For almost 10 years this place was my go-to Chinese, would go out of our way to go here instead of other places. I just can't anymore. The quality and taste of the food has dropped and is very inconsistent, it's not a pleasant place to be in (if you eat in, they pile everyone right next to each other and leave half the restaurant open), and they just don't seem to care. Would you believe me if I told you one of the best Chinese take-out spots is in Ashland? Well believe it or not, that's what I discovered during a recent visit to a friends new house up that way. My shrimp and broccoli was seriously good, with no skimpy shrimps to be found; all were large, fresh, and delicious! The egg drop soup I also ordered was yummy too. The boyfriend's General Tsui's was just about as good as it gets, and the complimentary fried pastries they give you for orders $50+ were greasy and unhealthy in the best kind of way. Jade is an ok Chinese Food restaurant. They do deliver to my neighborhood, which is a bonus. I find that they seem to put a lot of sugar into some of the dishes so they are just too sweet for me. I do like their hot and sour soup, the Moo Shu Pork, the Singapore Noodles and the beef and broccoli. They include these odd, but good, fried dough bites covered in sugar (go figure) for dessert. I've only been here once, because I think it's only slightly above average chinese food - so I am generally not going to travel 15 minutes to eat it. It does have some good qualities however that made me consider wanting to come back. The wonton soup was delicious. I always get wonton soup and so it's usually my first impression on whether or not the rest of my meal is going to be worthwhile. So many restaurants have soup that just tastes... stale. But theirs was good! The shrimp is huge. For once I felt like I was not being completely let down with seafood at a chinese restaurant. Points for that. My husband had the general tsos and it was a bit overkill. Too much sweetness, too much sauce, too much breading on the shrimp and chicken. The restaurant looks nice, service was good. Stay away. Food tastes different with just about every order. Last order was totally tasteless. Owner and or manager was very rude on phone. Had chicken wings there before that were undercooked and red near the top of the bones and no one got on the phone to answer to that problem. Orders are never ready for pickup on time. This place is terrible. I ordered my food no mushrooms as n explained I'm allergic to mushrooms. Also ordered white rice. I got home and had fried rice not white rice. I started to eat my meal and had an allergic reaction. I moved the food on top and it was loaded with mushrooms. Oh, yes, here we are: So Server was quick with our drink orders and friendly during the entire visit. The Double Cooked Pork was tasty and tender, lightly steamed and yummy crisp fresh mushrooms, green peppers and cabbage. Came with huge side of either white, fried, or brown rice. Lunch menu also included either soup or spring or egg roll. I thought the spring roll was perfect - but careful as it is served HOT. The Treasures of the Sea had tender scallops, good size shrimp with lots of green peppers and water chestnuts. I liked the flavor but both items could use more heat. Both items where labeled with a hot pepper, but the heat level was a 2 out of 10. I suggest adding chili sauce to the pretty condiments tray the server brings with your free fried egg noodles. We will return here for dinner, as with most restaurants, dinner menu has more selection. read more

So first off their menu states 'No MSG'. I'm not too sure about that. Ordered the Four Treasure in garlic sauce Hunan style, to go. This dish was nice, but the menu states 'hot & spicy', NOT. No heat whatsoever! And fried rice was basically rice with soy sauce. Ate 1/2 half of dish and saved rest for later, an hour later a huge headache came over me. Ate the rest the next day for lunch, and again an hour later a double huge headache. So I have doubts about the 'No MSG'. I eventually found this place, the address on Yelp was incorrect. I was looking forward to this restaurant based on the reviews. For lunch I had the hot and sour soup with General Tso chicken. The soup was very good, even if it was a bit on the sweet side. The chicken was not edible. It was fried so hard I thought I might chip a tooth. Service was not that attentive so I had to leave before I could do anything about it. On the other hand, they seemed to have a fairly loyal lunch crowd that were well known to the servers. My husband and I were in Ashland for the day and like to try different restaurants. Jade was close so we decided to go for a late lunch. We had a great experience. The service was great, the food was awesome and it was A LOT of food. The hostess greeted us and we were seated immediately. Our drink orders were taken, lunch menus and crispy noodles with sauces were delivered as soon as we were seated. The dining room was clean, the decor was simple, but elegant and the soft Asian music playing made for a great lunch date. We ordered soup and egg rolls. They were also brought out immediately-piping hot. As we finished the soup, the meal was brought out. Amazing service. The only negative I can say is either we BOTH misread the lunch menu or it should be changed. We ordered the soup and egg rolls because we thought they both came with our meals. We paid extra for what we ordered as the waitress told us when we ordered that the meal came with one or the other. I must admit, as we were getting out of the booth to leave, it appeared that one of the waitress's long black hairs fell into my empty plate. It was on top of my fork so it must have happened as she picked up the check. This restaurant has extremely poor service and the owners' daughter was very rude on the phone to us. We ordered our food over the phone for delivery and were given a 50 minute wait. We called to check on our order when it had been 10 minutes past the wait, because we had a large group of people waiting for this meal, and it was a large order. They said that it they would check the status and call back. 10 minutes later, we called again, because there was no call. They kept us on the phone, the daughter laughing at us, and when it had been 30 minutes past our order time, we asked for a refund. We were denied this, and when the delivery person finally showed up she told us that the manager had called to tell her to take a different order first because it was a "smaller order" even though we were first on the list. They then told us it would not be delivered and we told them it had already been delivered, to which they questioned us of stealing. I am really wary of trying new places for Chinese food, there are so many bad ones out there these days. I recently had I wanted to try something beef so I ordered the Orange Peel Beef, the description on the menu sounded good. My S/O tried the Lo Mein with Chicken Shrimp and Pork, which looked delicious and he actually liked it, he's a one dish, chicken chow mein kind of guy. Surprisingly the food was really good. I accidentally ran into this place while doing an errand and was pleasantly surprised. Jade has daily lunch specials which is a super plus. Had hot & sour soup and shrimp with garlic sauce which was really yummy. The shrimps were jumbo shrimps and the veges were fresh and delish! Customer service is also a plus here. My shrimp w/garlic sauce comes with peapods which I'm not a fan of and I asked to substitute it with another vegetable and they were very accommodating. I have been looking for a decent Chinese restaurant in Richmond area (tried 6 restaurants so far with disappointments) and I think I've found one that's as good as it gets. My family and I always come to this restaurant but the experience we just had was nothing like usual. I discovered a hair in my food. At first I let it slide because mistakes happen. But as I continued to eat my food, I found ANOTHER hair. I waived down my server and let her know and she talked to her manager. Then she came back and said I could get two dollars off my meal. To me, this was unacceptable and I told her so. The manager came over to me and was pointing at me and speaking in her language and laughing and I'm just trying to get answers for the issue. More servers came over as well laughing and speaking a foreign language. In the end they gave my the meal for free. I'm upset at the way the situation was handled. There is nothing unique about the food, a little bit over priced for the quality that they give you. They don't give you the right about of (beef , pork, shrimp) that should be put in that you pay for the meal. Customer service is not the best , it really depends on who's working . They don't care about quality not just food , but most important is the attitude to the customers. If you complained about food problems , instead of being polite And just refund money or just apologize, they always say " no one ever said anything bad about our food" , and they do that so they don't have to pay you money back.
