    Indoor seating

This place feels like a bit of a hidden gem in barrio Logan. We came on a Tues night right around open and it wasn't busy at all. It's not a huge space but they do have a good amount of indoor seating and a long bar area. We started with a few of the holiday drinks, all of which were delicious and very pretty. We also got cucumbers, pork curry dumplings and the jaguar roll. The cucumbers were not sweet at all which I appreciated and the flavor was savory and had a nice crunch. The curry was a little bit spicy and had a good number of dumpings in it. The jaguar roll was a full size and all the components tasted fresh. Service was a bit slow but it seemed like they only had one person working front of house and he was doing his best. Even though the drinks took a bit longer, they looked gorgeous and he would carefully walk everything over without having anything spill. We appreciated the attention to detail.

I can tell you this place has special charm. My bartender, Jean-Pierre was super cool and made me this super refreshing and smoky drink called El Nene Malandro. It was very delicious. The music outside was the perfect accent and the bar was very clean. Very welcoming atmosphere. I will come back again.

Stopped by here on a Friday night, delicious cocktails, vibes were good, service was great and they had live music. I want to come back to try the tapas.

Love this place! The drinks are all so tasty and pretty. The sushi here is flavorful and fresh. Great vibes here for date night or an evening for amazing food. I'm shocked this place isn't more popular than it is right now. Definitely a great stop in San Diego! Service wise, everyone has been sweet and kind. Very helpful for recommendations.

By day the space is occupied by the bright and buzzing Despertar Coffee Shop. Towards evening, it transitions into Jaguar Paw Bear tapas and cocktail bar and the scene becomes a little livelier! They do emphasize that the food is more tapas style, so do come here not expecting full blown portions. My friend and I liked our cocktails! We got the Summer Pop and one of their drinks with a passionfruit flavor, but I couldn't recall what it was. The space is limited to bar seating and a few tables, but they were able to squeeze us two in. We ordered a tuna pate to share. it was a nice snack, and the flavors were really unique and presented nicely. Would have liked to order at least one more thing to try, but we decided to keep it small. I have to shoutout to the staff who supplied me a portable ring light to take my photos of the food + drinks. That was such a cute surprise when they brought it to me while I was trying not to be disturbing using my flashlight.

Walked in to a very casual ambiance. I had made a reservation and the server quickly mentioned they seldomly look at them. I got seated while waiting for a friend. I started off with a glass of red while browsing the menu. Their menu is small, and the servings are tapas style. Therefore one of each seem like the correct thing to do. The food: Oysters: served with some toasted goodies on top Sikil Pak Dip: mayan pumpkin seed dip, excellent flavors Chiles Gueros Empanizados: Yum! Think of it like a very fancy jalapeno popper. Absolutely delicious and worth ordering two orders. Carnitas de atu: ok, they grew on me, smoked tuna served with tostadas Menage a trois: fresh seafood including the catch of the day served with tostadas All in all a great experience at Jaguar Paw Bar. I do wish they served a dish or two on the heavier side to ensure a complete meal. Great service, friendly staff.

This place serves creative low-ABV cocktails, basically with wines and spirits. The interior was festive and decorated nicely. Their menu was limited for the holidays when I visited. I heard it's not usually like that. My friend and I got the Negroni and jingle jungle. Both drinks were nicely done. We also shared a tapa which was the catch of the day scallops aguachile. The scallops were fresh and the flavors were perfect. The server was nice. I'd definitely come back to try other items on the menu.

One of my best friends and I came in on a Friday right as they opened since we were in the area. They were still working on opening up and prepping some ingredients for specific drinks but they were super friendly! We ordered 2 tapas and 2 drinks: oysters (comes with 4), 1 okonomi hand roll, 1 pinche peaches drink, 1 Mexican candy drink. Drinks: 5/5 both were so tasty. It took a while for the pinche peaches to come out but the wait was worth it! Okonomi hand roll: 4/5 fish was fresh - wish the portion was bigger Oysters: 5/5 no notes Such a trendy spot with seating, art, good music, drinks, food. I would come back again for the oysters and to try more of their tapas + drink menu!

Came solely for a post-dinner drink, and their sol y mar cocktail was a hit! Would order again. The small bites on their menu also sounded delish, so if in the area, I'd be down to stop by. The main con was poor air circulation -- smelled like (deep-fried) oil, probs from their tots. But apart from that, ambiance is nice. And the drinks were good!

Jaguar Paw is one of my fav spots in SD - Situated in the colorful district of Barrio Logan, the drinks and bites from JP are incredibly creative and fresh. The mixologist as well as the chef are a super talented duo - Was lucky to partake in a special Sunday food tasting and was totally blown away by what they were able to create !! Next time, I wanna go check out when their DJ's spinning some dance beats :)

My review is a bit overdue, as we came during their soft opening phase. Walking in, we were welcomed right away. It was a cute space - different than some of the other local spots - but it fits in well with the artsy shops around. The bartender (possibly the owner) was super nice and explained about their cocktails since they don't have a full liquor license. We each ordered a cocktail and were pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Maybe a little sweeter than their actual liquor counterpoints, but still good. We did not try any food, but it smelled amazing, so next time! They also have an interesting wine selection and some beer options. The service was a little slow that night, but they were just getting going. He was very nice and made sure everyone was happy with their drinks. I am sure they are in a good groove now, and I look forward to going back and trying some other things.

Walked in at 630 to try this bar that specializes in low abv cocktails. This quaint nook of a bar has ample ambience that sports a lovely retro feel. 70s grooves mixed with fun soul numbers play in the background. The disco ball and floral details make this place perfect for a ladies hang or a cute date. Tried their Michelada and Mexican Candy Cocktails and although I liked both I'd have to mention the Michelada was heavy on Clamato and lacked the tang and spicy-ness that you expect from the hot sauce in this classic cocktail. So it hits more like a beer Bloody Mary... We loved our experience and trying their version and will be back for more.

Jaguar Paw is another new listening bar that has popped up in the SD area. It's located in the heart of Barrio Logan across the street from where a renown taqueria recently closed. The inside of the suite had ten two-top tables and six stools at the bar for seating. A disco ball hung from the ceiling while the interior decor had beige and salmon as primary colors. Two sets of customers were at the bar when I arrived so I took a spot at one of the tables. Soft instrumental music was being played from the speakers. The menu at the time was comprised of eight cocktails, four beers, and four wines for drinks. Three types of food were available... Fish Dip, Sardine Crudo, and Oysters. I picked the Fish Dip and the Oysters to go with a Gimlet mocktail. Lemongrass, basil, and soda water were the main ingredients in the sparkly non-alcoholic drink. The Fish Dip came first and featured smoked skipper mixed with creme fraiche, tomato, habanero, house pickles, and lemonette. A set of crackers was provided on the side of the serving tin to scoop up the dip which had a nice blend of savory and tartness. The medium sized raw oysters were served as a trio topped with salsa kyoto, sunumono, and togarashi. The taste was fine, I just wish there were more pieces for $12. I don't know how often items on the menu are rotated, but a few more food choices would be ideal. The bartender came over to serve my table in between his customers at the bar. He was very efficient and polite. The ambiance was very low-key which made Jaguar Paw a nice spot to unwind and relax.

Once inside, the spaceship immersion is taken to another level. And if you're lucky, they'll trigger the spaceship lights-and-sounds sequence, which to me resembles a ship under attack. The atmosphere is definitely creative and fun, and I like that there are several food options along with a large selection of cocktails and mocktails. On this visit, we tried the rice dish and the pancake, and while both were okay, the flavors seemed just a little off compared to what I was expecting. The cocktails were also much stronger than anticipated. We sat at the bar this time instead of at a table, and the seating felt very cramped. The bar stools were so close to the standing area that it was difficult to even pull out a chair without people brushing past. Because of that, we ended up finishing our food and drinks and leaving pretty quickly instead of lingering and enjoying the experience. Mothership has a really cool concept and a unique vibe, but for me, it's more of a place to try once in a while rather than somewhere I'd be rushing back to visit.

I parked on the street close to the dinner spot I went to and then walked over to Charade. Ambiance (5/5): Charade is a speakeasy so here's your clue. It's located inside Balboa. Look for the room with the arcade games and you're on the right track. Once you enter the speakeasy, you'll immediately be impressed with the old school charm. It seats roughly 20-30 people and there's a bar on one end and a stage on the other end. Old school red curtains add to the vibe. And here's the best part. On Mondays, it's jazz night. Local musicians will play which makes for a great time. Service (3/5): There was one bartender working when we were there. Overall, she provided pretty good service. There was one comment she made which rubbed me the wrong way but no biggie. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior so were on a liquid diet. I did notice that they have a few snacks available like popcorn. Drinks (4.5/5): When you think of speakeasies, you think of elevated cocktails. I look for creativity and an interesting blend of flavors and ingredients. The menu here, while not huge, has some interesting options. Outside of the menu itself, the prices are reasonable (especially for California). And they make you stiff drinks which is always appreciated. Taking into account the cocktails and the ambiance, Charade is an awesome laid-back speakeasy. Make sure to stop by on a Monday for jazz night. That takes things up a notch.
