We came in around 10:30 AM and got our drinks pretty quick even though the cafe was busy. There are plenty of tables so it was perfect for us to stay and do some work. I ordered the horchata latte without whipped cream and I really liked it! The coffee flavor was strong and you could taste a hit of cinnamon. My friend for the matchata (horchata matcha) with vanilla cold foam and she enjoyed her drink as well. Their drinks are definitely on the sweeter side but are also highly customizable! Overall, I would definitely come back to try some of their other specifically drinks :) Ratings Horchata latte: 4.5/5 Matchata: 4.75/5

The inside was clean, including the bathroom. I got a chorizo breakfast burrito and an Arcoiris latte. The burrito was fresh and delicious! The potatoes could have been cooked a few minutes longer, but it was good nonetheless. The salsa they served with it was amazing! I could have drank it lol they should sell it individually. The latte was good! A different flavor profile that is based on a Mexican cookie. I really enjoyed it. I sat and read for a bit before leaving. I kept it simple--no onions, tomatoes, or all the extra stuff. Just eggs wrapped around bacon, sausage, and ham. Man, this thing was GOOD. The meat had a little sweetness to it that worked perfectly with the eggs, and the potatoes were absolutely amazing. Everything just hit the spot. I sat at the bar and had a chance to ask my server a few questions about the place. She was super friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. Definitely glad I found this spot. Great breakfast, great service, and one of those places you're already thinking about coming back to before you even leave. We arrived at 7:50am, hoping for a quick breakfast before a doctors appointment at 9:10am around the corner. It took the waitress forever to come to our table because she was the only one up front. Totally reasonable. By 8:20am there was over 18 guests and still just her trying to seat people, give them beverages, make espresso, input orders, and basically manage everything. Again. Totally reasonable why things were taking longer. She was hauling a** and working hard. So imagine my utter dismay when I saw a man, probably the manager or owner just standing there like a jacka** not helping her but making polite greetings and conversation to the people at the bar. Utterly unacceptable to watch your employee or someone struggle with that many tasks and not do a darn thing about it. Looking so proud and like everything is just dandy as you lean against the doorframe doing absolutely nothing. Our waitress gets a five star rating but this one star reflects the behavior of whoever that owner/manager is letting staff drown around him. Shame on you.

Let me preface this review by saying that I am reviewing the experience as much, if not more, than…read morethe food and drinks. My wife and I absolutely love New Penny. We actually followed the owners here after frequenting their previous coffee shop, En Route. When they opened New Penny, supporting them was an easy decision. The café is thoughtfully divided into two distinct spaces: a family-friendly dining area and a lounge-style bar area geared more toward adults. The atmosphere is warm, cozy, and inviting. There are house-made dishes, local merchandise, a shaded patio, and plenty of charm throughout. My wife's favorites are the Breakfast Totchos and the Acai Bowl. Personally, I am also a loyal Breakfast Totchos fan. As for drinks, the Copper Coin and the legendary Cowboy Latte are both worth ordering. What truly sets New Penny apart, however, is the people. The owners and staff have created a space that feels inclusive, welcoming, and genuinely connected to the community. Support local businesses. Better yet, support local businesses that are doing things the right way. Get to know the owners. Get to know the staff. Places like New Penny don't just serve food and coffee--they create gathering places. Whether you're meeting a friend, taking a business meeting, enjoying a date, or simply looking for a quiet place to sit by yourself, New Penny delivers. One of my favorite local businesses, and one that my family will continue to support.

They're a whole mission, starting with the coffee they serve - from an organization in Honduras that employs single moms to harvest the beans, and provides a safe home for children who are experiencing neglect and abuse. The young people with disabilities who are employed in this little coffee shop absolutely shine. They are a delight to have around. I especially loved meeting Josh today - he was so full of joy and really fun to talk to! They have a large, welcoming space with comfy seats, a play area for kids, and a small shop that celebrates and supports the disability community with really cute t-shirts. Generally speaking, places like this are often all heart and mission, often times at the expense of everything else, but Ri's somehow managed to do it all. The prices are incredibly reasonable, and the food and drinks are genuinely delicious. My almond croissant and tea were both amazing, and my friend really enjoyed his latte too. All of it, plus the warmest smiles, for $12. Plenty of parking outside, plenty of space inside, and a business really worth supporting!

I should have known better when the waitress said they hadn't received their shipment of white gravy, and all they had was brown gravy. White gravy is butter, flour, and milk. It's just about the simplest thing for a kitchen to make, and they get it in a box. Worst yet, they can't make any from scratch while they're out of the boxed stuff..? I'm going to guess the brown gravy came out of a box, too, because it was unremarkable. The CFS was clearly frozen. Very chewy, and not much flavor or crunch. The menu used to be colorful and full of photos. Now it looks like the first Microsoft Word Template someone clicked on. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the hash browns were decent. My guest had the corned beef hash and she was too full to finish it. So, I tried it and it was pretty bland, and looked like it came out of a can. I'll give them a second star for knowing how to cook an egg, but next time I feel like a good breakfast on this side of town, I'll just go to Denny's. Denny's is much better than Kay's.
