It was quite entertaining. My party of 5 were served quickly and had everything we needed, refills, napkins, etc. ordered the Turkey club it was ok, with fries- fries were great! We Arrived at 6 pm and were told by the hostess that our party of 7 could not be seated. Literally, a table of 4 and then 3 and then 2 were seated as we waited and waited and waited. Adjacent empty tables that could be pushed together were not, even at the behest of one of the employees. After 20 minutes, someone decided to push tables together and we sat exactly where one in my party suggested. Our server was wonderful. He suggested the chicken Alfredo which was very good. The drinks from the bar were not very tasty and I sent my Orange creamsicle back for a mango margarita which was better. I would give this 0 stars if I could but it's not an option. I ordered this for the first time Because it said it had brick oven pizza and it caught my eye but it is deceiving and very disappointing because the crust is premade and as thin as a flat bread like one from the supermarket. Also, the macaroni salad was hot and I never had hot macaroni salad which has mayonnaise on it. So I'm assuming it was sitting near the grill. The fries were dried out over cooked no salt on it. The cheesesteak hoagie was over cooked dry and blackened with no mayo. The only good thing about my meal is the roll. I DO NOT RECOMMEND EATING HERE I will not go back here again very disappointed. Trying to be generous because I ordered take out and didn't eat in the restaurant but I was extremely under impressed and a little disappointed. I ordered chicken parm with fries. I was shocked the entrees no longer come with a side salad or bread. The portion of fries was pretty small. I ordered raspberry Cheesecake which was placed on top of the hot chicken parm and arrived as a melted hot swampy mess. The chicken parm was good. read more

I'd call it "Jake's Rib Joint" I had the baby back ribs and they were amazing! Fall off the bone tender and the sauce was tangy, sweet goodness. My wife had the broiled scallops and she loved them. Our meals came with the soup and salad bar. Vegetable soup and chicken noodle soup, which was creamy and delicious. The salad bar items were fresh and plentiful. This used to be our favorite restaurant. Not any more. Tonight our dinner was $94 with tip for two people. My husband had the shrimp scampi and I had the flounder stuffed with crabmeat. My entree was terrible, the sides were inedible. I ate a couple bites and just ate the roll. What happened to Jake's? The Sammy's veal was my favorite! No meat on the menu tonight except ribs. It's the worst food ever and expensive. The pizza was a fake crust premade and small. So thin it was like eating a flat bread. The French fries were cold with no salt and no taste. The cheese steak was dry as dust and over cooked and black as coal. Maybe if they put the mayonnaise on it (which they forgot to do) it may have given it some taste. The macoroni salad I got must have been sitting next to the grill and hot. I never had hot macaroni salad which was supposed to be cold before. My stomach aches and is making all kinds of noises right now. It's doing flip flops that's certainly not a good sign. I only had a few bites of this foods and we couldn't eat any of this garbage. I just spent and arm and a leg for food poisoning. Unfortunately It's a new restaurant but, they really need to learn how to cook. Have been going here for decades, but since new ownership it is terrible. It's a loud, crowded sports bar now. It used to be a place with great food and intimate atmosphere. Our food was awful. Flounder that wasn't fully cooked, and crabmeat with lots of pieces of shells. Almost no flavor. The stewed tomatoes used to be tasty and sweet. Now it tastes burnt and not sweet at all. The salads that come with the meal are a joke - so miniscule. We mentioned our concerns to the waiter, and nothing was done. Mixed drinks don't have enough alcohol in them; maybe that would've helped? Prices went up - which we wouldn't have minded, if it was worth it. It wasn't. read more

When I left to pick up the sandwiches, my wife called back to ask a question. We all love Jake's. The fish and chips specials were so big. We had a hard time finishing it. They can get a little crowded in the summertime. But they are worth the wait. On Saturdays they have a Prime Rib special that is soo delicious. Try it on a Saturday night. Coming to the shore since 1985, Seven Mile Island has always been my summer home. But sadly enough, the food staple of any shore town, seafood, has been lacking in quality and price, as the property value of Avalon/SH has risen. Solution: Go off island to Villas, NJ towards the Delaware Bay side for seafood. They have it going on at Jakes. Seafood combo w/salad, fries and slaw ($24)...FRESH, LOCAL and the bank remains intact. Bernadette was our waitress. Super friendly! All hype by the Atlantic...Delaware Bay is the new style. The first thing you notice is the people at the bar and the people in the restaurant are completely different people, lol, not that it bothers me because I have sat at the bar waiting for a table, and after dinner to have a few extra cocktails. For the menu, it's all good, even the apps. I have sat at the bar and just had the nacho's and wings before. If ya like seafood, you will like it here, the Menu is heavy in that direction, but there is also some other good dishes, like the chicken franchise, which while a little small is outstanding and Saturday night is prime rib night, but it goes quick and they run out so ya gotta reserve it or come early.
