This review is based on Jake's food. I am still always impressed by the quality and variety of the food they offer at Jake's. They of course have the typical bar food, but the quality is great. They also have more unique options like the Tree Hugger Sub or the Baja Burger which are solid choices. Even their side salads are substantial and I love their ranch dressing. The food was excellent! Ordered a grilled chicken sandwich which came with tomatoes lettuce and mayo. It was a chicken breast!! Which is top notch for this option. The seasoning was savory. It was not as busy as my brother told me it could be, there is a parking lot in the back. We found a spot as soon as we arrived. The inside was definitely full of patrons. I've been to Jake's plenty of times, usually to drink and grab wings and fries to soak it up--but this time I stumbled on something worth writing home (or Yelp) about. First off: the grilled chicken buffalo wrap. I am NOT usually a chicken wrap person (too many tortilla-only bites at the end, you know the struggle). But Jake's changed my mind. Perfectly filled from start to finish, with lettuce, tomato, buffalo sauce, and grilled chicken that actually tasted like chicken and not filler. Paired it with sweet potato fries + honey mustard (because honestly, if you're not doing that combo, what are you even doing?). It was so good, I ordered a second one to-go for my fiancé. He crushed it too. Service? On point. My dog came with me to the patio, and without me even asking, the server brought out a doggy bowl with cool water. My pup devoured it like I hadn't already hydrated him earlier. They even refilled it, which made the whole experience feel extra thoughtful. Now, the one downside: the house margarita. I'm gonna say it: Jake's Billiards has the best fried chicken sandwich in the Triad. The outside is crunchy, and the chicken is juicy; not one bite was tough or rubbery. I got the classic chicken sandwich, which is topped with lettuce, tomato, and mayo. My husband had the Buffalo Chicken sandwich, which comes with your choice of wing sauce; he had the spicy bbq sauce and said it was definitely spicy. If a place has hot chips, it's almost a guarantee that I'll get them. And Jake's hot chips come with ranch, and were perfectly cooked. I demolished them, and left very little room for my chicken sandwich. The assortment of beers is also excellent. They have tons of beers on tap, including local, NC beers. Our lunch came out super quickly, making this is a great spot for a quick lunch out on a work day. But, with billiards inside and an extensive drink list, you could probably spend a fair amount of time here, if this is your vibe. I feel like Jake's is the kind of place with a loyal following. Jake's is one of my favorite bars/pool halls in Greensboro, for a lot of reasons! There's plenty of places to park, drinks are reasonably priced, and the food and service is always top notch! Vegetarians will be happy here there are a lot of vegetarian options! I get their veggie burgers or their tree hugger sandwich and one of my all time favorites are their black bean sticks! I've always heard amazing things about their wings from my friends as well. They do start ID'ing after a certain time, and it does get kinda packed on the weekends. Takeout options are available! There are various activities throughout the bar, there is a ping pong table in the back, and darts tables as well. There's a lot of places to sit and you can also play pool and eat at the same time as there are tables and booths all around the area! Not me writing this review while listening to a medieval hip hop version of STILL D.R.E. STILL - Repping the best chicken cobb salad all across the world. STILL - Hittin them crispy tots with the seasonings girl... STILL - Taking their time to perfect the Beef, and they're still across the street from the Sheetz. It's the J.B.L. All 2000s nostalgia aside, Jake's is still my absolutely go to for the best "bar food" in Greensboro. Went to Jakes Billiards on Monday for dinner and drinks. They have a great beer special on Monday and beers are half off. Their selection is great and very large choice of craft beers. Service was fast with receiving drinks and also with receiving food order. I was able to enjoy a hot dog that was on sale and also got a chicken Philly sub with fries that was delicious. Great overall vibe, you have your regulars, newbies, college students, and older crowd...a good mixed crowd. Their beer selection is some if not tops in GSO as far as the long list of local craft beer, or commercial domestic/import beers. They also do mixed drinks/spirits. After winning some trivia nearby, me and some friends decided to hit up Jake's for some late-night drinks and bar food. Jake's is a huge sports bar with lots of seating, TV's, pool tables, and a nice outdoor area. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We got an order of the black bean egg rolls as an appetizer. They were alright. I ordered with "Dirty" (chicken instead of a black bean burger) tree hugger wrap. It's a common selection of mine as it has a lot of vegetables in it as well as cheese mixed with a Vidalia onion vinaigrette. I have to say, it was not as good as it usually is. I don't know whether to blame it on the cook that night or because it was late night, but it felt soggier and less seasoned. I got the homemade chips as my side with blue cheese. Burgers were on special, so my husband got the Baja Burger (pepper jack, mango salsa, red cabbage, avocado aioli) with a side Caesar. I tried it, there are better burgers in Greensboro as far as appearance and taste, but it was fine. One friend ordered hot wings; their wings are really good. The other got the veggie dog with sweet potato tots. Being vegetarian, she was concerned after taking a bite that it was a regular hot dog based on its texture. She had me try it, and it tasted like a regular hot dog to me. The waitress was very nice and confirmed with the cook it was veggie. GHOE Weekend! It was supposed to be a great weekend. It took about an hour to order wings and tater tots which our friends took about 15-25 mins for their order when we ordered at the same time. Our order was placed before it got packed (to give more context). When asked to speak to a manager, David, the manager, was very rude and didn't want to talk to us with a condensing attitude. He was walking away from the conversation when I was trying to figure out what was going on with our order. He should not be managing intense pressure and stress if he can't speak to loyal customers even in that situation. With multiple years of customer service experience, the customer is usually right. Again, I just think that was a terrible situation and experience for someone who heard exceptional things about this establishment. read more
