I was not so impressed with Jake's. I don't know if it's just this location but I was always fond of the one in Richboro. I came for breakfast, got the hungry person and was honestly kind of grossed out by my food. The pancakes were stale and nowhere near warm. The "homefries" looked like cut up boiled potatoes, I didn't eat any of those. The eggs were probably the most normal looking things on my plate. I really think they need to step it up for being one of many few breakfast places in the area, so much potential! read more

This was my first time eating here, and it was amazing, the staff is so nice, we didn't wait king for our food, and it was delicious, only thing i didn't like is there policy that they can not seat you till very one apart of your party is there, me my mother and brother went in well waiting for our friends Nichole and ben who were no more then 5 minutes away but they wouldn't seat us till they arrived. We decided to give this place a try on Sunday after church. We ordered breakfast I got the Hungry Man and added blueberries to my pancakes. The hash browns were cold, you could tell they just make a huge batch of them and they definitely are not seven fresh. My side of turkey sausage tasted like dog food. Our server was constantly MIA we could not find her. When our food was served we had to make multiple trips to the breakfast bar to get syrup for pancakes, um like shouldn't they be served together being that they go hand in hand. Get the Urban Omelet with a side of bacon and rye bread! Great Food & Friendly Service! Probably the only place in a 30 mile radius where we had to wait to be seated because everyone who lives here goes here. Lots of parking in back and service was smooth and quick. We opted to go here with our local friends instead of Cracker Barrel and was happy we did. Sometimes it is better to eat among the locals than in a chain with lots of tourists! The place is decorated like the dining hall at your grandparents old age retirement home with just the most bland looking walls and furniture I think I have ever seen other than said retirement home. Food is pretty much the same way, just bland. I got a basic egg and home fry breakfast and the potatoes had zero flavor to them. It was clean, the wait staff was courteous and efficient and mostly friendly and the food turned out to be fairly good. I had the eggs Benedict and Ted ate Jake's version of an egg and Mcmuffin. Mostly older crowd, partly given the time, though a few small groups of HS students were spotted. It's astonishing that a busy and popular breakfast place like Jake's does not offer a better selection of adult breakfast cereals, including higher-fiber favorites like shredded wheat and Raisin Bran. Nor does Jake's offer WiFi so that its many single patrons can entertain themselves while they're eating their breakfasts. That said, Jake's does make a damn fine pancake and a decent cup of decaf, but really, how hard is that to do? I wouldn't say that Jake's is "A-OK" as the Yelp rating system defines three stars. I honestly try to look at the overall experience, especially when leaving a less than favorable comment. During my last and I mean last, visit to Jakes Eatery in Newtown, I actually hesitated when the bill came... My true thoughts were, do I really have to pay for this experience! The service was terrible, the waitress took our order , brought our drinks then disappeared until the food was ready. The banana French toast was so small and appeared to be one piece of bread cut down the middle, ridiculous. Refills on drinks we're non existent, home fries were mushy. All five members of my party left with stomach aches and longing for a restroom. I've been to Jakes before, but never again. I think that some critics had a really bad experience. I am rating Jake's on a consistently pleasant breakfast experience. It is not 4 star gourmet. It is not the best breakfast place in the world. However, it is the best and most reasonable diner style breakfast joint we've found in the Newtown area. Here's what I like: Nice menu with a variety of sweets (pancakes, waffles, muffins) Plenty of egg dishes (the usual diner style combos, however no hard boiled if you can believe it) Combos that allow you to have literally 1 egg, 1 piece of meat, 1 pancake or waffle Very pleasant and attentive staff. For those of us who truly want a single serving and not a "diner style" plate of food that could actually feed 3+ people if you kept to actual portion sizes, this is a good choice. I'm used to (and miss) New Jersey diners and ridiculously large portions, but Jake's has the same vibe; it's just scaled-down. The staff is always pleasant and the service is quick. I was driving by, looking for restaurants and saw this one. They have a jerk chicken quesadilla with cranberries, bacon, cheese of course, scallions. And the chicken was incredible. It was juicy and perfectly blackened, so all of these flavors came together to result in an unexpectedly great quesadilla.. for $8.00!! Really took me by surprise. Great place! Great home cooked style food. Wether for breakfast lunch or dinner they have you covered . nice portions for not too much $ which is rare in Newtown Pa. We went for breakfast on Saturday morning with some hesitation based on some recent reviews. We were seated promptly, served coffee while we waited for our order to be taken. No more than 10 min wait. Ordered (3) meals and we were served within 20 minutes. Everything was delicious and hot. Service was fast and friendly. Would definitely recommend. I appreciated the variety of menu items and the fast and friendly service. The food was really nothing special. I've worked at several brunch restaurants and love to go out for a good breakfast - and was excited at the idea of finding something new. The food was disappointing, though. Everything came out SO fast and the restaurant was packed - leading me to believe they have a lot of things pre-made (including my boyfriend's cold scrapple). I had the porkroll benny - hollandaise was flavorless and boring (hollandaise is supposed to be the best part!). My Mother in law and I tried Jake's for the first time today for breakfast. I was very impressed. The food was fresh, tasted very good, arrived quickly, and was piping hot. The waiter was attentive and very polite. We both had omelettes, with homefries, rye toast and coffee. We both enjoyed the food very much, and felt the price was fair. We will be coming back for more breakfast since this is the best breakfast I had in Bucks County, but I also want to try Jake's out for lunch and dinner. I had not been here for more than a year because the last time I went, there were lipstick stains on my mug, the hot cereal was cold and the fruit was inedible. If I could give a zero for the hostess and for overall service, I would. After waiting for 25 minutes to get seated, we were told we couldn't get a table because the fourth person hadn't arrived. We knew she was in the car but then had to pretend that she had changed her mind. We were shown to a table of four but then they grabbed away the fourth place setting (paper napkin and fork). Before they seated us, the hostess told us that we should be prepared to order immediately, which we were. Unfortunately the server did not appear for about 10-15 minutes. My friend was give the wrong order, and the plates were cleared without even asking, when there was food left on them. The straw that broke the camels back was, we were asked to leave because supposedly there were people waiting for our table, even though another table of four was available. There are definitely two better breakfast places within a couple of miles, Pat's and Moishe's and they will be getting all of my future business. read more

My parents and I stop into Jake's quite often and their food is consistently good. We have only been there to order from their breakfast menu, so I can't speak for their lunch or dinner options, but they do serve up some solid breakfast food at a very reasonable price point. They were busy every time we went, but the staff was always friendly and attentive. Portions are quite large, and it seems very clean as well. Most diners and restaurants I've been to for breakfast often burn the toast or potatoes every once in a while, but that has never happened at Jake's so far. Everything was cooked perfectly every time we've been there :) Nice little spot for the neighborhood regulars. Went to Jake's for an early dinner and ordered a roast beef wrap. The wrap had one thin slice of meat, but lots of lettuce, onions and tomato chunks. I informed the waitress, who said she would "tell them in the kitchen". Nothing after that. Being with friends, I didn't make a fuss, but I won't be returning. I'm a regular take-out customer. Pretty much only get the sausage, egg and cheese on a English muffin. Always fast and a good price! I hate hash browns and the only options for a substitute are an upcharge, I usually just ask to hold them but they tend to forget and they get all over the sandwich. read more
