This place is awesome!!! I love the fact that this isn't your typical seafood place. It has a Cajun twist to it and so you'll see lots of crawfish on the menu. They do not mess around with the portion size and the martinis will sure leave you happy. We got the Dungeness crab with asparagus and that was insanely good. The crawfish pasta was equally as good and super cheesy. This is a must spot for downtown Portland.

It was a gorgeous sunny day in Portland. Took a break after running errands. Had a Manhattan and a Prawn Cocktail. Both are very good. Although most of the tables outside were occupied, service by Ethan was prompt.

We came for Portland Restaurant Month 3 courses for $55, my husband ordered Crab Bisque, Crab Cake Entree, Jake's Truffle Cake, I ordered Clam chowder, Seafood Fettucine, Creme Brulee. The clam chowder was loaded with seafood and potatoes, super creamy! The crab bisque had real crab bits but was a tad too salty. The crab cakes were also amazing, crispy outside. The fettuccine was loaded with seafood! Definitely went overboard with the desserts but the creme brulee was so custard-y. Definitely go and check out this spot!! Staff was friendly and interior was super classy.

Stopped by for happy hour, decent menu and drinks. Gumbo was good and popcorn crawfish was good! Service was great!

One of my all time favorite places to eat in Portland. Eclectic old time feel with great service and fun staff. When the weather is nice, grab a seat outside. The filet never disappoints and the best meal, when in season, the stuffed halibut. This trip, I opted for the Filet! Perfection!

We went two Sundays in a row before the Portland Thorns match. Every single thing was excellent from the service to the food. We sat in the bar area, which has a lot of space. Not just the stools at the bar. Our server, Anna (Ah-nuh) was so nice. She gave us plenty of suggestions and was super patient. We like to have our cocktails while we take our time deciding what we want to order. The bread was so good. Nice crunchy outside and fluffy soft on the inside with a side of whipped butter. I appreciate this since it makes it much easier to spread. My wife enjoyed her Bloody Mary. I ordered a Boulevardier (not pictured, sorry) and it was excellent. The stuffed salmon was so good. So much flavor. We shared, and they split the plate for us. The potatoes were roasted as was the asparagus. The oysters Rockefeller had a little too much spinach for my taste, but it did t keep me from eating them. They weren't sandy or overcooked. The crab cakes aren't breaded. They had a nice crispness to them. I think it's our new thing before the Thorns (or Timbers) matches.

Great dinner with friends. Great ambiance and the server did an amazing job. If you want good seafood with some variety, then this is the place. Fish & Chips, seafood pasta, crab louis, crab cakes, and delicious clam chowder. Everything was on point, but the chowder was a little too lumpy and could've been more creamy. However, overall, it was another great experience and I will be returning.

Jake's Famous Crawfish has been around for over 130 years and this was the place I had dinner with friends who live in Portland. Located in the Downtown area we made reservations on OpenTable. Got seated right away at a circular round table. Our server was this super nice lady who knows her drinks and menu items! We ordered a few things for everyone to share and try a little of. The drinks from here are so unique and delicious as well! Entree-wise wise we did some damage from appetizers to entrees. Overall we enjoyed the dishes. Everyone had a fun time and the vibe is old school with some hip new drinks!

Step back in time to the early 1940's to a beautiful time. The place is historic but at the same time very welcoming. The menu items that we orders was fantastic. The service was spectacular. I don't lie, nor do I give fake reviews, if there are issues I write it all out but seriously this place is a definite 9.2 out of 10. It would have been a 10 if the bathroom wasn't so small. But the building is historic so I am sure the owners can't change it because its a historic landmark. Food is 10/10 I will definitely go back when I am in town and I might actually do a TikTok vlog.

Wow ok. Very pleased with my quick stop here. I sat by the bar and had possibly the most amazing Happy Hour option you could have: STEAMED MUSSELS $13. They truly were the plump and fresh, sweet and slightly savory. I can't wait to get them again actually. Even the toasted buttered slice was great. The drink was also amazing, I really didn't think much of it but wanted a cocktail and ordered the PARLEZ-VOUS...LA POIRE $16. It was so well made I think the bartenders name was Ryan? Sweet, sour, and well balanced.

A true 5 star experience - from the aesthetic to the ambience, and from the service to the quality of the food and menu options available, Jake's delivers it all. I was lucky enough to have a private dining experience for a dinner meeting located in the Fireside Room which is excellent for small groups because it's tucked away in the back of the restaurant with its own private bar and bathrooms. The food and drink options are plenty, the portions are plentiful and the service was attentive and pleasant. Thank you!

I was browsing Yelp and came across a praising the seafood here. I wanted to check it out although I knew I was not going to be able to eat most things here because of gluten and dairy intolerances. By the time I got there it was there happy hour and I was stoked. As a whisky enthusiast I ordered their old fashioned and a whiskey cocktail. Both were delicious. I also ordered two oyster shots and they were okay, I prefer a little spicy. I also ordered their fish tacos and they were also delicious. Great taste and price. I enjoyed myself do much that I decided to return for a second time. The service and bartenders were excellent the first go around, the second time the service was lacking and inattentive. So I opted for one drink and left before I changed my mind about the place.

Are you serving crawfish this weekend?

We are scheduled to have them in store within the next 2 weeks. Please call directly to inquire about availability.

Wait, I'm confused. Other than the étouffée, does this place not have crawfish?

Yes, they serve crawfish and I believe it's a seasonal meal. I could be wrong but I thought it was May to October and I know Covid19 hurt them with suppliers. Jakes is the first place my wife and I will try to eat when we are in that area.…

Is it insanely busy at lunch time? Or is it possible to walk in without reservation and enjoy a fabulous lunch?

The place is huge, w/ many dining rooms. We've never had a problem walking in and getting a seat in the bar or at the bar. The bartenders are unbelievable. Like Tom Cruise unbelievable in Cocktail! Getting a seat in one of the many dining rooms…

Bar is hopping and their happy hour can't be beat. Their stew (oyster) is simple, filled with plump, fresh poached oysters and though, again, simple it really hits the spot. Chicken sandwich was great, served as more of a Po Boy, which while not listed as such, fantastic. $24 dollars on happy hour for a dozen fresh shucked oysters and it's your choice, which is crazy, you can get a mix of whatever they've got! Most places will have shooters or you don't get to pick, wow! Fried clams were also a hit, best I've ever had. Large, tender (which is hard), and even the happy hour portion is enough for a main for me. There's even a little pepper in there I think. Most places, they are dry, small and over fried. Steamed mussels, wonderful. Service is also flawless, many folks around helping and making you feel welcome and comfortable. I know nothing about nothing when it comes to running a place like this, but I loved to see that any person is willing to assist with customers and keep the flow and pace going. I've been to many establishments where you can't get someone to save your life, and paid double or triple. I've heard this place could be in danger of closing, I hope not, that would be a serious loss for Portland. Big thank you and shout out to a great human being working the bar that I haven't seen in over 20 years from high school! Keep rocking!

I've had food poisoning before but nothing like this. While I understand it is a risk to consume raw oysters, I am sad that it happened to me here. Also, the shrimp cocktail as others have mentioned is not a true shrimp cocktail - it's baby shrimp. Would have loved to have had that clarification before ordering. Will I return? I don't know. What I endured in the last 24 hours leaves me skeptical about ever eating raw oysters again. Staff were attentive and friendly though. We sat outside and I didn't appreciate the punk music across the way. Kind of took away from the dining vibe.

Craving oysters (when did we become these people?!), we stopped in for lunch, ordered a half dozen (and later, another half dozen), plus the Rockfish and Chips, and the Hot and Crispy Fish Sando. Everything was enjoyable: the sando was reminiscent of an upscale Fish Filet (I mean that in a positive way) with a tiny bit of heat; the Rockfish were fried in a salt-and-pepper-y seasoned batter that paired well; and the oysters, of course, were a particular highlight, as previously mentioned, since a second set was ordered to finish off the meal. The only disappointing thing about the whole meal was a rather uninspired spicy Bloody Mary, which didn't really do much for me, sadly. Service was friendly and attentive, and the covered outdoor dining area was spacious, well-lit, and warm enough to be welcoming and comfortable. There's also a secondary covered and fenced dining patio that is dog-friendly, which is another perk! And lastly, the market and bar inside boasts a heaping helping of fresh fish finery coming in many forms: fresh, frozen, 'frigerated, filleted and fried, either served over the counter, or available to-go. Lots of smoked salmon options as well! Very cool place, and one that my wife in particular has fallen in love with. We'll definitely be returning, likely for dinner next time, to see if the menu is expanded with additional options such as scallops, swordfish, steelhead and other seasonal selections.

The location is not ideal in terms of access and some of the typical challenges you would expect in downtown Portland. Otherwise, it's a fun experience for an occasional visit and the food options are plentiful. There are about eight food concepts in total on the perimeter of the building with a main bar in the center. I went with a rice bowl from one spot and had a few of the mini donuts from the other location for dessert. I also saw a Thai food concept, a smoothie bar and a ramen spot. There are a lot of different seating options available, but none of them are particularly comfortable. When I went for dinner, the place was only about half full and the trash area was a little bit unkempt. Parking is available on the street or in adjacent lots but everything is paid during typical daytime hours from about 8 AM until about 7 PM. The bathrooms do require an access code but are available on site. Personally, I feel like this place had a bit more clout when it first opened before the pandemic. But, it still has some relevance and it's a great spot for a casual meal just because of the variety of options that are available. If you come with a group, everyone can try what they like. Overall, a good showcase of some under the radar food establishments that conglomerate in a fun shared space. Check it out!
