I had a great solo dinner here tonight whilst traveling for work. I ordered the ginger spritz mocktail, the filet and the peppermint pot de creme! Pros: 1. Fun themed holiday menu 2. Very cute holiday decor 3. Wonderful attentive and kind service! 4. Lots of windows to check out the lovely river view 5. Filet cooked perfectly 6. Fun and delicious mocktails options and NA beer on tap 7. Though I was solo, I was next to a large party of 10 folks. The acoustics in here are great because I wasn't overwhelmed by the noise of other larger parties around 8. Relaxing/romantic lighting Cons: 1. None! This would be a great place to come celebrate the holidays, get some fresh fare, catch up with friends, or for a romantic date. We love a versatile space!

My partner and I visited King Tide twice for breakfast during our stay at the Kimpton riverfront hotel. We enjoyed the classic breakfast twice, as well as the ricotta pancakes and smoked salmon eggs benedict. The smoked salmon benedict was a favorite, while the other dishes were just alright. The eggs didn't have much flavor or seasoning, but the breakfast potatoes were flavorful. The nonalcoholic green tea mojito was tasty, but on the pricier side for a zero-proof cocktail without a spirit substitute. We dined outside on the patio during both visits and loved basking in the morning sun. The location on the south waterfront is beautiful, and a great people watching spot. The crowd was pretty light on Saturday morning, but picked up on Sunday. It took us a bit to get our food both times, but the service was excellent. If you're staying at the hotel, this is a great option. However, I'm not sure if I'd go out of my way to eat here. Overall it was a solid and convenient breakfast option.

Great call for a pre-show dinner! Took a chance and snuck in for a coupla cocktails and snacks prior to catching a gig at the Keller and super pleased with how it all worked out. The food was fresh, full of flavor and nicely portioned (that Niçoise salad was the bomb), cocktails were interesting, and the river view just outside the windows was a treat. Upscale in tone, with a sorta refined nautical vibe, but still casual in that Portland way. Service was absolutely great all around. One demerit for price; definitely on the high side. Parking can be tricky, but manager says there's valet service - free if you spend 2 hours there I think.

I was quite disappointed with my overall experience. The real attraction is being able to sit outside overlooking the water. Our server was really nice, so two stars is no reflection on her. There were a number of menu items that they were out of, which was surprising since it was a holiday weekend. You'd think they be prepared for an increase of patrons. The entrees we did order were mediocre. The flavors were bland and over priced for the quality.

Date: Sunday, March 2nd, 2025 Time: around 3pm Party of: 2 What: Happy Hour - Daily | 2PM - 5PM *Oysters: cocktail sauce & mignonette; minimum order of 6 ($2 ea) x6 *Prawns: cocktail sauce; minimum order of 6 ($3 ea) x6 *House Bread: miso butter ($4) *Truffle Fries: pecorino, tartar sauce ($6) *Romaine Hearts: chicories, saba, croutons, pecorino, pesto caesar ($8) *King Tide Clam Chowder: potatoes, bacon, peruvian spices, herb cracker, bone marrow butter ($10) *House Martini: Vodka ($10) *Glenlivet 12 ($15) When the hubby asked what I wanted for lunch, my answer was oysters. He looked around and found the King Tide had oysters on their HH menu. We just dropped. No reservation. Tho it was very quiet, so I don't think you need one mid day on Sun. We ordered a fair amount of the HH menu. I enjoyed the fries. A good amount of truffle-ness and a good portion. I love almost any kind of green lettuce salad, so I enjoyed the romaine even tho it was a lil over dressed. It's kinda deconstructed so you have to chop / cut up the lettuce and retoss. The oysters fulfilled my craving - came with cocktail sauce and a mignonette. We asked for tobasco since my fav way to eat an oyster is with lemon and tobasco. Nice place to take advantage of HH specials. Glad the hubs found it. REVIEW #3730

I've been here once before and remembered it being pretty good during Portland dining month, but it doesn't hit the same anymore. The menu is pretty limited, over priced for what it is, and overall kind of weird vibes. It was completely dead in there at a standard dinner time and none of the 3 of us girls that went liked our dish very much. Likely won't return, which is a bummer because it's in a prime location and easily walkable to shows at Keller which was our primary reason for choosing it.

King Tide Fish & Shell rates somewhere between three and four stars for me. The food and drink ranged from good to disappointing. Service was good, but the atmosphere was a little weird. If this restaurant is convenient to you, then it's worth checking out. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't go out of my way for it. We were vacationing in Portland and wanted to eat oysters. Someone in our group searched for restaurants that served oysters near us. King Tide Fish & Shell was one of the results, and the pictures and ratings looked good enough. We had a Saturday 8pm dinner reservation for eight people. I booked on OpenTable and got 1,000 points. 1,000-point reservations are rare. They're usually 100 points or nothing. On OpenTable, I could only book for a max of six people. I called the restaurant and they were kind enough to accommodate eight people and still get me 1,000 points. I appreciated that. Thank you to the staff who helped me with that - it was the lady who answered the phone and the manager. Book your reservation using OpenTable and earn dining points which can be used to redeem restaurant discounts, Amazon gift cards, hotel stays, and magazine subscriptions. King Tide Fish & Shell is located inside the Kimpton RiverPlace Hotel, which is situated on the waterfront in downtown Portland. Since we visited at night, we didn't get to see much of the views of the Willamette River and surrounding area. I caught glimpses of the Hawthorne Bridge, lit up, and a walking path from the hotel to down along the river. I'm sure the views are much better during the daytime. King Tide serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Happy hour is 2-5pm daily and brunch is served 8am-2pm on Saturday and Sunday. We parked for free on the street next to/in front of the hotel (S Harbor Way). It was free for us because we parked after 7pm on a Saturday. If you park on S Harbor Way, paid parking is enforced 8am-7pm Monday-Saturday and 1pm-7pm Sunday. There are signs and a kiosk near the parking spaces. You can also pay with the Parking Kitty app (code 61692). When we left the restaurant, I noticed one of the employees was reading a ticket she just got for parking in the same row as us. I felt bad for her since she probably just wanted to go home after her shift. For a Saturday night, the place was pretty dead. That was generally the case for the downtown area we drove through. This wasn't surprising to me since a lot of downtown areas are like this (not as much activity during non-business hours). We pulled up to the hotel valet parking sign, but no valet person came out -- that's why we self-parked on the street. No big deal, but this added to the "weird" atmosphere. When we entered the hotel, there was a kid working at the front desk and no one else to be seen. We found the restaurant and were seated in the indoor dining room by the bar. There were three customers at the bar and one couple seated with us in the dining room. That was it, at the time we arrived. The restaurant looks like it has a nice, spacious patio, but I couldn't really tell since it was dark out. TVs at the bar were playing sports. Some of the TVs were on and some were off. Again, it was just kind of weird, like the place was "half open" or something. In general, though, the restaurant was clean and had an aesthetically-pleasing, modern design to it. I can see the vibe being totally different and better during, say, a busy weekend brunch. Here's what I tried: * Taro Chips (complimentary) Shareables * Market Oysters ($28 per 1/2 dozen) - cocktail sauce, fresh horseradish, yuzu mignonette, lemon - Carbajal from Shelton, Washington - Netarts from Newport, Oregon * Wedge Salad ($16) - blue cheese, bacon, tomato, crispy shallots, house ranch Classics * Mussels ($27) - pancetta, white wine broth, topped with herb fries King Tide Signatures * Pacific Halibut ($39) - miso cauliflower puree, glazed carrots, caper sauce, finger limes Signature Cocktails * Japanese Garden ($15) - raspberry-infused Roku Japanese gin, matcha green tea syrup, fresh lemon, rose water Everything was good except for the Pacific Halibut entree. The dish was presented beautifully, as were all of the dishes and cocktails, but the fish itself was tough, dry, and unappetizing. I think it was overcooked. The Japanese Garden cocktail wasn't anything to write home about either, but admittedly that might be a personal preference. It tasted medicinal. We enjoyed the Market Oysters and ordered several dozen. The oysters were fresh and high quality. The Netarts were relatively big and meaty while the Carbajals were smaller and more flavorful. Both were deliciously briny. I liked the Netarts more, but you can't go wrong with either. The Taro Chips were unique and yummy - a pleasant surprise. The Wedge Salad and Mussels were both very good. The salad was crisp, refreshing, and sizable with a nice variety of ingredients. The Mussels were warm and tasty with a delectable broth and hearty fries.

    Overpricing, ridiculous for $60

WAY overpriced for what you get. I ordered the fish and chips and asked ahead of time if they battered themselves. The waiter said yes that they had just gotten away from beer batter. What I got was far from freshly battered fried fish. For $26 it should have been perfect. What I got, I could have gotten frozen frozen from the store. Pretty bad Never going back due to lackluster quality and boastful pricing.

    Grilled Idaho steelhead

I ordered the Idaho steelhead and absolutely loved it. This is not salmon, and it was beautifully done. The skin was perfectly crispy while the fish itself was moist, tender, and cooked with great care -- not an easy balance to achieve. The lemon gremolata and preserved tomato were fantastic accompaniments, adding brightness and depth without overpowering the fish. Every bite felt thoughtful and well-executed. Huge cheers to the chef -- this dish alone would bring me back.

On a recent trip, I was easily able to walk here from my hotel (the Marriott Bidwell, also ), and enjoy the walkability of downtown Portland. I sat outside, with a nice view of the river. I started with some nice, local oysters (from the mouth of the Rogue River) that were perfect. The main course was King salmon, that was just a touch too sweet, but otherwise very good. The only thing that didn't hit was the beet: an ESB without any detectable bitterness, but it was comped. Service was efficient.

Brussel Sprouts, Steak, and Fish & Chips
    Mia H.

I came here after spending a day at the waterfront and it wasn't a bad spot. The restaurant overlooks the waterfront, offering you a great view as you dine. There's plenty of seating for more intimate dinners or large parties. Service here was alright--we weren't acknowledged by a waiter for a while after seating, and it took a LONG time for food to come out. I ordered the Brussel Sprouts, Steak, and Fish & Chips. Everything was delicious. My favorite was definitely the brussel sprouts that came in dashi and with a poached egg--it was definitely a fun twist on the traditional roasted brussel sprouts that I would get at a restaurant. I thought the fish and chips were good, but a bit overpriced for what it was. Overall, I think that the food was good but the service could be a bit better, and the food is a bit more on the expensive side.

    Cheers H.

Food 2/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Been here probably twice now, after all these years. First time was years ago. Did remember they used to have fun HH, and good seafood options too. (See pics) At our last visit (6/2/25), it was disappointing that the CURRENT happy hour menu on their website on (6/2/25), was way more extensive than when we arrived. See pics for menu comparisons. We were hoping to not just do HH, but to stay for dinner as well. We would have left when we saw the very small new/limited items on their HH, but we just paid for maximum of two hours of street parking to be here specifically. There were no other options near by, we felt like we had to stick it out, make the best of it. Oysters were just ok. Definitely had much, much better oysters elsewhere. Fries ere good. Calamari did have that very heavy coating, as others have mentioned. We stayed for an hour to finish up, then had to go find a second place for dinner.

Side of everything bagel and cream cheese to go

The option to sit outside is nice as there's a great view of the water. Breakfast was hit or miss. And the service was slow one of the two breakfast days. What I liked : the steel cut oats, side of fluffy scrambled eggs and avocado. Their hash browns were crispy! Okay : Breakfast sandwich - I wished it had a fresh element as it was all on the oily side (cheese, buns, bacon). Soy latte was good one day and served lukewarm on a different day. What wasn't great : the poached eggs on the eggs benedict were overcooked. The smoked salmon in the benny was so thin. The side order of everything bagel with cream cheese was packed to go and I was surprised by the presentation. It might have been better had they smeared the cream cheese on the bagel for me, and personally I wanted more cream cheese.

I was assured by a server one time that the chef creates a gluten free cheesecake that rotates on the seasonal dessert menu. The current offering is tiramisu. Seasonal salad: Good, but not special Blue corn bread: Dry, not a lot of flavor Heirloom bean dip: Nothing special Mushroom tostada: Very good, flavorful Bison short rib: Delicious, but a very small portion for $38 Rattlesnake & rabbit sausage relleno: Delicious and creative Someviki: OK Service was good. I'm glad we tried it, but would not rush back.

Would definitely rate this a strong 3.5/5 if that was possible!…read more The jojos were the star of the show for me (go figure) personally -- and the ranch was the star of the jojo show. I had a Spicy Vegetarian Burger and it was pretty good, next time I would probably try the Classic version. The pickles and sauce were good and the impossible patty was great. My sister thought her classic burger was solid, but she would have liked a little more sauce. Keep in mind that she likes a lottt of sauce. The bun was a little too big for her burger patty too, but overall it was tasty and all the flavors complemented each other. Ambiance-wise there was nice decor and plenty of seating options! The blinds kept out a lot of natural light but we were able to lift them a bit so it wasn't a problem! You clear your own plates and order when you arrive after you have looked over the menu so service doesn't feel super applicable but everyone was friendly and welcoming.

While they weren't as crispy as I would've wanted - I would say while some parts were, most of it was on the softer side - I did think that they were seasoned excellently. They also paired quite well with the mayo-based sauces we received. Moving onto the burger, I really enjoyed this. When I've had tofu on a burger in the past - it's usually been in smaller pieces - so getting such a massive piece that sticks out on either end of the burger was really nice. In addition, the breading was good - while not super-present. I quite liked the fact that it was very lightly breaded - meaning the huge patty was like 95% tofu - leaving the tofu to stand on its own as the majority of the bite. The buns were alright - I'm not big into vegan buns - but I didn't mind these The mustard sauce was also pretty good I will say, although I did order the Mr. Onion burger so I should've known what I was getting myself into, but there were just way too many onions on this burger. It was to the point where they absolutely dominated the taste of my first bite. I had to remove a lot of them from the bottom of the burger to actually make this edible. For the price, it is a bit expensive - but it's also quite filling so I didn't mind it. I also have to mention - because my burger was late, as a gift they brought out a full set of pastries/cookies in a box. This was incredibly surprising and something I've never seen another restaurant do. Major props for that
