Still one of the best steakhouses in the city. Staff is always helpful and knowledgeable of the food they're serving. Excellent cocktails though a little pricey. Their onion rings are some if the best in the city as are their steak skewers. Disappointed the salad is no longer part of the meal but now offered as a side. I miss their broccoli which was always prepared to perfection. I understand they will be moving to another site in the Junction. Looking forward to seeing the new place when it opens. read more

Way over priced for what you get, the food was good but not great. The service was below average, we had to ask for refills, ask for sweetener a couple times. They never asked if we wanted a second mixed drink or third. We only saw our waitress twice other servers helped in passing. The steak dip was all most impossible to eat the way they serve it. It literally is a full piece of meat that is on a bun that you have to pull apart with your teeth. The pork chop was yummy! The filets were average but not at all worth the price. Yeah, I'm done. I agree the service/front of house is excellent when I've eaten in and also when I've done take-out. Mostly I go here to pick up a salad for my work-day lunch and as I said, I'm done. I was willing to forgive the moldy mozzarella on my spinach salad. But the next couple of salads I got were also bad. I got a little container of sour cream instead of actual salad dressing. One last try...the chop salad. The greens were so tired they were brown around the edges and the basil was black. Front of house is great and I'm sure the kitchen can serve in-person better. I've always enjoyed coming to Jaks. We enjoy going out for steak and find this place a more affordable, but still great option. I like that they include sides with the entrées instead of everything a la carte. And they recently changed the sides offering from standard potatoes and veggies to picking two side from a larger selection. My husband never cared for their veggie side, so this was a better option. The service is always friendly. The drinks are always delicious. And they're always willing to help you pair a wine with your meal. Plus the weekend brunch menu is fabulous. My one critic is I miss the crab stuffed halibut. It was my favorite entrée when I didn't feel like getting s steak. It went away several years ago, I was told it was suppose to come back, and it has yet to. I would enjoy coming here more often if that option was back on the menu. read more

I have finally visited for weekend brunch! Pretty bummed that French Onion soup isn't available for the weekend. Because of that, I don't come too often, but it's a nice dependable restaurant for a slightly fancier occasion. Manmosa $9: Described as a double mimosa. If true, then $6 for a regular and $9 for a double seems like a good upgrade. The Jak Bene $18: We shared this between 2 people and still found it filling. They were kind enough to split on separate plates for us. I don't really care for English Muffins, so I liked that this was available on their yummy potato pancakes! Jak's Chophouse Dip $16: I just tried a couple bites. Honestly, Quizno's has my favorite steakhouse beef dip type sandwich. I like the sliced meat and cheese. Here, it's like a hamburger patty and there's no cheese. The au jus is pretty good, but not enough to save it for me. ***** My Star Ratings: 1 Star - Terrible. Just thinking about it makes me angry. 2 Stars - Meh. Unlikely for me to return. 3 Stars - OK. Open to coming back, but wouldn't go out of my way to. 4 Stars - Yummy! Came here on Friday night and it was a full house. Luckily I placed a reservation for 7 P.M. we were seated upstairs next to the window which was nice but I would not say romantic. This place gets really loud. We ordered a Porterhouse for two people which was a pretty good deal for about a $100 it came with two servings of salad, our own choice of garlic mash potatoes, potato cakes, fries, and side of veggies for each of us. The salad dressing we chose was blue cheese and it was fresh, with a sharp taste of cheese and not overly dressed. The potato cakes were fried to a crisp with cheese and was the star of the show. Garlic mash potatoes were good because it was creamy and not too greasy. The steak was alright because it was very bland and in my point of view overcooked for being requested rare. The porterhouse was sliced up for us which was surprising. I did not like how tough the meat tasted but it could be because I ordered a Porterhouse instead of my usual ribeye or New York. Overall, this would be a nice Friday night location but not really for a cute date where you can hear each other clearly. read more

Been here several times and came here last night to entertain out of town friends who insisted on me picking out any restaurant that I wanted, so I decided to stay local since I live close by and decided on a neighborhood steakhouse favorite of mine. Had an amazing dinner here with 5 friends last night. I absolutely loved the appetizers and salad before my steak and the added sides that we ordered to go along with our dinners followed by a lovely peach cobbler for me and a cheesecake for one of the others that I had dined with. Service was great and someone always came by to check on us for drinks and anything else that we may have needed. Can't wait to go back soon! read more

Horrible treatment of disabled people! We got to the restaurant at 5 pm with my 81 year old father to beat the dinner rush. 2 tables with incomplete parties were seated ahead of us, which is against the listed restaurant policy. The host could see that my father had a walker and could barely stand, but gave the downstairs table to the party in front of us, after all of us had been waiting for 10 minutes. The only option was for him to walk us the huge staircase. It was very difficult for him. No apology from the host. When I asked to speak to a manager she was very rude and argumentative. An apology would have been sufficient, but that didn't happen. She said "it's not my restaurant so I don't have control over the policy". The policy clearly states that no tables will be held for partial parties. It's unfortunate that JaK's treats disabled customers this way. They are not following ADA practices and more than rude about it. A little compassion would have gone a long way. read more

Jak's has been a West Seattle institution for years, with great food and an interesting ambiance and atmosphere. They have great weekend brunch options. However, their Sunday bartender needs a little coaching. I've been in several Sundays and I am not greeted quickly with a smile, or even an acknowledgment. I can tell when I'm noticed as a new patron at the bar, but a bartender needs to make eye contact and acknowledge that they've seen me, not make we wait for several minutes longer than is reasonable while they just do tasks. The job is foremost about the people service, not the tasks. Also, while I did come in last time an hour from their mid-day shutdown for turnaround to dinner service, the bartender pulled the all hot sauces off the counter for cleaning without returning it, well before I had even received my food. My food took a little longer than usual, and as someone who's worked in service industry, you don't pull your customer's condiments and sauces while they're still waiting for food, especially when they arrived in plenty of time to get in, order, eat, and leave by the closing time, with no intention of staying past close to annoy the staff. I felt rushed and unappreciated as a customer that the bartender definitely recognized from when I'd been in before. Not mentioning their name, but I am mentioning this as a coaching opportunity for the staff. Working service is a tough job, I know, but there are key elements of the job that are requirements to provide a welcoming atmosphere and retain business. read more

The salad that came with the dinner was surprisingly good as well - I say surprisingly because often the salad included at other restaurants is just thrown in as an afterthought and is bland. But not here - it was very good. Its always nice to get bread too and a lot of places don't do this anymore. For two entrees, and a cocktail and a diet coke, it came to $108 before tip. Let me start by saying prior to this el Gaucho in Seattle was my favorite steakhouse but it costs a pretty penny so we don't get to go often. Jaks is so reasonably priced and the food was so much better than the steak I had last time I went to El Gaucho in Bellevue. Both my husband and my own steaks were cooked PERFECTLY. And we love that Jaks actually includes sides and a salad and was still less than just the steak at El Gaucho. This will definitely be our go to steakhouse from now on. We went to dinner last night with a reservations. Hostess Taren was rude, rolled her eyes at us. We have never had this experience at any of the 5 (previously 6) locations. Our server was doing his best, fairly new so was learning. Bread was served like was just out of a plastic bag. We decided to stay since we were hungry even after the rude greeting from Taren. We had scallops and were glad they went back to the old recipe as we always enjoyed this. We shared the kabobs and they were delivered by I'm guessing the manager. Obviously we were sharing as that's how we ordered. We were not offered a plate to share. We used our bread plates to eat our dinner. We expressed our displeasure with our waiter and asked for our bill. Boxed our food and left. I messaged a good friend who asked me to send a review as Kenny would want to know about our service. I'm positive my friend who I was visiting in West Seattle will never come back to this location. We will meet in Issaquah from now on. I brought my son here today for his birthday. First and foremost, I am grateful they are doing limited seating, social distancing, and following the mask mandate. Thank you. Our waiter is really nice & has a great personality. The food was served quickly and with a smile. Everything tasted amazing. I had the filet mignon and it was basically dissolving in my mouth. He had the prime porterhouse, which he liked a lot. It's too fatty for me, but to each their own. The only thing I would do differently is ask for no salt or possibly no butter on my steak. It was a little too salty for me, but don't let that deter you. I'm really sensitive to salt. It's probably just right for most people. We will definitely be back! read more

"Good food" Had high expectations given the good reviews of this place. There was a 30 minute wait and it didnt have enough space to house us at in the bar so we ended up in Matador which was a lot roomier. Soon enough we got called and seated comfortably. Getting our food took about 30 minutes so be prepared to wait. Friends ordered steak and really loved it. I ordered the crab stuffed chicken. It was good but out of this world good. The lobster mac n cheese is one of the best ive had so this is a big plus. They were also nice enough to not rush us eventhough they were close already and we were thenlast patrons out. I have to admit, I've lived in West Seattle the vast majority of my life but haven't tried Jak's in part because the prices seem to be on the high side to me. I came across their Tavern Menu (seemingly more affordable compared to their standard menu) while searching for new takeout spots in this COVID era, and decided this past weekend it was time to give Jak's a shot. I placed an order for and picked up up a few burgers for the family--two of the Tavern Deluxe (a take on the Dick's Deluxe), and one of the Mushroom Swiss, $8 and $9, respectively. When I opened the bag, I was a bit caught off guard by the size. These burgers were tiny! They also were quite lacking in any toppings aside from a mound of shredded lettuce. I had to hunt for the couple diced onions on the Tavern Deluxes. I ended up doctoring them up a bit with more onion and some pickles I had on hand. After that, they were pretty dang tasty. I had the Tavern Deluxe for myself. The sauce with the sweet pickles was delectable, and the meat was clearly very high quality. But for $8-9 for the sandwich alone, I'd have expected a bigger, better dressed burger. Total bummer. I think I'll be sticking to Loretta's Tavern Burger ($5) for my future burger cravings--more tasty burger, less dough. read more
