Jalapeños was exactly the Taco Tuesday spot I was looking for. The server was super friendly and gave us a bunch of great recommendations. We ended up trying a wide variety of tacos, and they even hooked us up with two extra tacos in different flavors to sample, which was a nice surprise. The sautéed onions and spicy green jalapeños were honestly one of my favorite parts. They had a really solid Taco Tuesday deal, and I paired everything with one of their IPAs on tap that was smooth and refreshing. Service was impressively fast too; we got our food in about 7 minutes even though the line was pretty long. The staff moved through it quickly and kept everything running efficiently. This is one of my favorite casual eats in Sacramento. Came here for tostada Thursdays where each tostada is $2. For the special, you'd have to order at least two tostadas and a drink. My favorites are the pork in sauce, ceviche, and steak in dark sauce. Employees are nice as always. They are super friendly and outgoing. Cams around 7:50 pm and it was extremely slow. Have been here now several times with family and friends for brunch and dinner. The food is so delicious, the drinks are great, the workers are friendly and welcoming, and it's a super cute place that you have to try. All seating is outside and the area is somewhat small, but you're surrounded by greenery with shade. They have Taco Tuesday and Tostada Thursday where you can get their amazing food for great prices. Lots and lots of meat option to choose from. My favorite tacos to get are carnitas, pollo con mole, tinga de pollo, and rajas. They also have some of the best chilaquiles around! I've been wanting to check out Jalapeños for awhile now and finally had the time this past Taco Tuesday! They have one of the best deals that I know of in the area at $2.25/taco. Located in Midtown so there's only street parking in the area but we were able to get some prime parking right in the front. Plenty of outdoor seating and honestly really good service! My partner and I were so indecisive because there were so many options but the cashier helped us pick and we really loved what we got. We ordered 3 carne asada tacos, 1 papas con chorizo, 1 tinga de pollo, steak in dark sauce, and the other veggie tacos. Everything was a 10/10 and the flavors for each taco were wonderful. Came here for $2.25 Taco Deal, and it was also raining this past Tuesday. I didn't know this place only had outdoor seating. The tacos were pretty good. The deal also requires a minimum 3 order plus a drink, so I got a horchata too. My only downside was that some of our party was confused while ordering, so some of us ordered takeout which doesn't cover the deal. We initially ordered takeout because of no seating, so it was regular plus (+ a 20% discount.) We ended up finding seats, and asked if we can switch our price to the dine in cheaper price. They initially said yes, but retracted their statement. We were offerred a consolation dessert of buñelos, but waited an extra 15 minutes for. Yummy, cheap, homemade. First time coming here on a Saturday night at 9:00 pm. They have happy hour specials so make sure to get in for those! You will order at counter and take a number to your table where staff will bring it to you. It is a small place, there is plenty of outdoor seating, but none indoor, so keep that in mind. Jalapeños has multiple heaters outside that staff is happy to turn on for you. The service is literally unbeatable. I would come again just for the authenticity and passion Alejandro (Alex) at the counter had for this restaurant and their food. His knowledge of the restaurant, their dishes and his great customer service made this a 5/5 for me. I tried the mulitas plate with rice and beans. Ohhhhh my godddddddd.... you need this. My experience at Jalapeños is always top tier. I don't think I've ever visited and not felt like family. The servers, the food, and the ambience all interconnect to make you feel like it's an occasion to celebrate. I love how the menu changes slightly every so often but the staples have to be their tacos. I always order Calabacitas, Rajas, Tinga, and Pork in sauce. Chef's kiss. Jalapeños also has my utmost favorite Chilaquiles. The portion is sizable ( I always get a big to go) and it makes for an afternoon snack that makes me want to go back. I frequent jalapeños quite often and absolutely adore the staff. Their specials are great! My favorite days to go are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturday morning either before or after the farmer's market. I love this place so much. If there is anything you should trust me on do this: Anytime on Thursday (dine in only) bring $20 and get 4 ground beef tostadas. Located right next to Zelda's Pizza, so it's street parking only which can be a pain especially since it's downtown. This place looks more like a house, as it's decorated in lots of plants as you walk through the gate. Inside where you order super tiny so there is no indoor seating. Depending on the weather, this too can be a pain in butt. We came around 9pm on a Tuesday and it was getting a little cold outside but the man who took our order (I believe he may have been the owner) was very nice and wheeled over a large outdoor heater to help keep us warm. He was also very patient with us while taking our order and even made a few recommendations. We opted for the rajas con queso tacos, and sopes with carnitas, tinga and Chicken along with a side of beans and rice. I will say I was a little bummed with the meat choices. They only offered variations of chicken, carnitas and asada; but no pastor or adobada. Food was decent tho. I enjoyed my carnitas sopes, they were loaded with meat and their salsa was good. My husband also enjoyed his tinga sopes but said the plain chicken sope was a little dry. I was hoping the rajas con queso would have been with Oaxaca cheese but they used queso fresco so it wasn't melty but still was ok tasting. I was not a fan of the plain white rice with corn, zero flavor so we poured some salsa over it. The beans with chorizo were good and like the little squirt of mole sauce on top. 5 stars all the way!! My friend and I stumbled upon this place on our way to a different Midtown restaurant and decided we'd come in for a drink. I got the Mango Mojiño and she got the blueberry margarita. Both were delicious. We were going to get the "$1.50" taco Tuesday promotion but opted out of food at first. This deal requires a drink and 3 tacos for each person. Later on Miguel, who took our order, brought us 3 of their poblano tacos to taste and y'all they didn't disappoint!! Each server, busser, food runner etc was extremely welcoming. We were warmly greeted by each person and we watched as they recognized people standing in line, greeting them again, making sure everyone on the patio is all set. It's a small establishment but they have a larger patio area (no indoor seating). I am excited to come back for more tacos and even try their brunch. I will say, within 30 min of us sitting down it went from one person ahead of us in line to a line out the gate! Oh boy where do I begin? Just ordered their pizza dogo and monster fries. Made the mistake of ordering TWO pizza dogos for me and my partner, without realizing the plate came with fries. Stopped by with two friends after a morning at the Farmer's Market. There were very few other patrons, so we walked right in and ordered. I ordered the chilaquiles with asada. We sat ourselves on the patio outside and waited. There is no indoor seating, but the patio feels very private due to all the greenery. Our food did not take too long to come out. The staff member who helped us asked if we could "feel the love" (lol), and we sure could! These chilaquiles are genuinely SO delicious. Every part of them is flavorful and blends well to create a dish that you just can't stop eating. I especially liked the beans, which are not as salty as refried beans often are but were rich with flavor as well. The portions are also HUGE! I thought I would be able to eat my whole plate, but was barely able to put a dent in it. Our server brought us boxes to go, so now I've got breakfast tomorrow too! Breakfast tacos: I don't exactly remember the name of the actual dish but it was delicious! You can always tell a good restaurant by their salsa, and it was legit. The flavors were amazing and definitely not stingy with the portion. 10/10 Pizza-dogo: probably one of the best combinations you'll discover. It was bigger than we thought it was going to be but omg it was super cheesy and just tasty! A MUST, 1000%. Add red peppers to the ketchup and thank me later. Piña colada: this drink was dangerous because it was so damn good. I could not taste the alcohol at all, but it surely gave me a good buzz. Absolutely loved the coco rim and cherry. I have been meaning to write something about this place because it's the best Mexican food place my boyfriend and I have tried. Not only was it super yummy, the workers were so welcoming, helpful, and paid attention to detail.
