    Machacado taco....not so much.
    Amanda K.

First, they have a sign that says "no mask no service" but no employee at this establishment wears a mask. Second, the breakfast tacos are skimpy and have no flavor. What I got for a machacado taco was insulting. The salsa is served in little baggies, which is a bit inconvenient. They're nice, which is why I gave two stars instead of one.

    Carne asada plate. Dont bother

I dont even have to open the bag to know I paid way too much for 3 tacos a smattering of rice and a clump of beans for 15 dollars. The corn tortillas were too thick and dry. Thin small chunk of unseasoned meat, beans dry as was the rice. Was told it comes with avacado and lime wedges. No lime wedges and an eight slice of unripe avacado doesnt count. Even the sauces they said it came with were a joke, put in little baggies and tied in a knot. Find a taco truck and spend half as much. This place gives the worst of gas station food a bad name. After eating a bit I forced myself to throw up from fear of getting food poisoning.

Very friendly staff, very good prices, their breakfast tacos are delicious and the service is quick. It's my stop on the way to work on payday Fridays.

Jalapeno Joe's, why have I been so scared to give you guys a try? Maybe because you're connected to a Shell Gas Station? What a big mistake. I have been here four times in the past week and a half and simply put, this place has some damn good food. It's been hard to find a place with everything I want from a taqueria while being so close to home but Joe's has managed to fill that gap. The barbacoa, chicharron and refried beans from Joe's are the best I have ever had. The barbacoa is very moist and the chicharron is delicious, something I can't say in the same sentence about most taquerias. I don't think I've ever cared about refried beans until now. Yum Errr, I'm thinking about what to try on my next trip while writing this review. Breakfast tacos are good. Caldo de res is ok. What else am I missing... Oh yeah, how about a hamburger? Yup, they got that too and it's actually good. As I was eating the hamburger, I couldn't put my finger on why it was so different (in a good way). I checked the burger and saw that it was mixed with a bunch of green onions which gives it a nice kick. Just remember to leave out the mustard... The bad? They need to start offering free chips and salsa. They also need to invest some money to provide better ways of serving salsa. If you order to go, they give you salsa rolled up in little plastic wrap which looks insanely cheap and ghetto. Good thing that those things are shadowed by the quality of food.

my all time favorite breakfast taco: egg, cheese, potatoes, and chorizo.

I love coming here for breakfast tacos! Their breakfast players are pretty good too (had chilaquiles the first time I went here). It's a part of a gas station so it's pretty casual. It's really cheap overall and you can't go wrong here if you like tacos :) and their fruit juices are good too. My favorite is the melon juice! Make sure you ask for salsa if you like a small kick

After reading the reviews I was tempted to try this out. I was not disappointed. The fajita tacos were very good and meat had great flavor.

The sangria was NOT worth the wait. I expected better from this place. It was also my friend's first ever visit and I had raved about my previous visit. I am not raving about the place now. Friend ordered lobster bisque. Much later we were told they ran out. Told in a manner of "oh well" and a shrug by our disinterested server. I found our female server surly, unhelpful, and appeared like she had no interest whatsoever in doing her job as patrons were disturbing her day. She should have stayed home. Once my friend decided what she wanted to order, this server had the audacity to tell her what salad she was going to get. Not suggest. Tell! My friend did not want salad as the menu said there was the option was soup OR salad and she wanted and ordered the corn chowder, you know, since "they ran out of the lobster bisque." Our server apparently left. Took us a while to notice due to the lack of service which was all hurry up and wait. (The place was not crowded at all). Took forever to get our check. We never saw our server again. Another male server came by. We told him, twice, to split the check. Which he did not. As a reward for making the request, he brought over the incorrect check. I mean you cannot make this total experience up. The food was good The lack of quality service ruined the experience, negated the food's taste, and the surly server did not earn the tip I gave her. It was my friend's first time there and we were made to feel extremely unwelcome.

It is beautifully done, the ambiance is outstanding, the food is really good, very accessible, with plenty of parking, and it is reasonably priced. We go there for most special occasions (never the exact day of the occasion e.g. Mother's Day, but for the occasion), and are never disappointed. Fernando runs his restaurant his way- for his guests. He does not overbook, he does not tax the capability of his kitchen or serving staff, and accepts reservations that insures first class evenings for those who DINE there. You are never rushed to turn the table, and the noise level is low enough to actually allow conversation. I almost am hesitant to post this as I fear Yogi Berta's comment ("no one goes there any more, it's too crowded") might ruin my favorite secret.

I walk in with a group of 5, ask for a gluten free menu, and the hostess happily got the menu and brought it with us to the table. Our server brought me GF soy sauce and told me he would make sure my food was safe even though it was on the GF menu. I got the calamari and Sugar Land sampler, and it was all great. The fish was fresh, the restaurant didn't have a concerning fishy smell, it was clean and nicely decorated with plenty of space for patrons so we weren't on top of each other. One of my guests ordered the wrong roll, and he was very patient and kind, and he talked through the different rolls to make sure the one she wanted was exactly what she was looking for. He made suggestions and took his time, and he treated her with respect and care. I was truly impressed! One could say that GF options are minimal, but for me, this menu had a little bit of everything for gluten allergies, and my server made me feel very safe eating there with my allergy. I will enthusiastically go back to Japaneiro any day, especially with this level of service!
