Well I came my 1st time 3 weeks ago & now I've been back 3 more times. I have definitely found a great margarita spot that also has good Tex-Mex food! The place is much larger than I expected from the outside. They have a separate bar area with bar seats & a few tables & then the restaurant has a few different sections including a section with doors if you want to have a private gathering. They also have a decent size patio. Service was good. The server repeatably checked on our party. But this is a Mexican restaurant so let's talk margaritas! I like my margaritas on the rocks, with a nice kick from a reposado premium tequila & a premium orange liqueur, preferably grand marnier. This place absolutely delivers! More importantly, they have consistently made great margaritas for each of my 4 visits. If you want a good tasting, strong margarita go for the black barrel margarita. I would be stunned if you were disappointed. The food is also good. Often you find a place with good drinks but the food isn't so great. Not the case here. I've had the steak quesadillas, the steak fajitas, & the fajita burrito. All good! I was so excited about this new find that I made 7 family members meet me for happy hour and everyone loved both the food & drinks. First off this happened a couple of weeks ago and I apologize for the late review but there was a mistake made in the location. So with that said we got there and asked to get seated on the patio. There were a couple of other patrons out there so it was not just us. The waitress basically disappeared after she took our order. We ordered Queso Flameado which was the best out of everything we ordered. Our drinks were not refilled. We were not asked if it was ok because it was 2 servers and again never saw the waitress again. Food did not taste fresh. I got cheese enchiladas and the cheese was already solidified as it was put in front of me. Hubby got The Chong and he said what chicken there was dry. It's been awhile since we dined at Lupes. It felt like the food wasn't as good as before. Maybe mgmt changed. It was still good but it just felt bland & meh. Our server Elmer was great. He checked on us multiple times. Super nice & attentive. The manager also was nice. He checked on our food if everything was okay. I also noticed lots if empty tables on a Saturday brunch crowd. This was my first visit here. Upon entering I love the Mexican aesthetics in the decor and the music. Great Tex-Mex ambiance. The hostess greeted us and took us to our seat. Our server came by immediately. She took our drink orders and brought the chips, salsa, and churro beans. The chips, salsa, & charro beans were really good so we were off to a great start. We finished our dips completely. I ordered the shrimp poblano enchiladas with the refried beans and rice. My guest had the chicken and cheese enchiladas. My enchilada was ok. Not bad but not great. I don't think the flavor was that spectacular to be one of the more expensive enchiladas. I only finished one and took the rest home. Our server was very attentive and checked in on us often. My server was great, everything else just mediocre. Went in for lunch, odrdered fajitas for one, a burrito for my wife and chicken figers for my son. Man feels way expensive, the fajitas appeared to be half a chicken breast, like 4 strips, they dont give you shredded cheese like most places. just that tiny plate for $18 is robbery. My son's chicken fingers were so terrible, he did not eat them just the fries. Try another restaurant, some places like Chuys you can pay $22 for mixed fajitas and you get all the trimmins on the side and the kids plates include a drink. This was the Lupe location that we went to growing up; I haven't been back in over 10 years. Decided to go eat out with the family on a Sunday night and wanted to go down to ole Lupe's again. Located alongside 59, it's a bit difficult getting in and out of this location due to proximity to the feeder road and associated traffic. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Our server was very attentive and on top of refilling water, chips, and salsa so that was great. I'm a big fan of the charro beans from here and they're good; not as great as I remember because it feels like there is less pork/ meat in the stewed beans. The overall flavor is about the same but definitely is missing the chunks of meat and veggie that I remember. Their chips are usually pretty crispy and hot and this was no exception. We ordered the 1-1/2 pound mixed chicken and beef fajitas for the table. It came with all of the sides and fixings; a side of guac and salsa, rice, and beans. The actually skillet was extremely disappointing. The beef was probably the worst I've had in Houston; everyone at the table had these super chewy and inedible beef pieces; I'm not really sure what kind of beef it was. The other beef slices barely resemble fajita meat and looked like someone chewed on them, honestly. The chicken looked and tasted fine but the beef was a complete disaster. I've been to multiple other Lupe locations in Houston in the past year and have ordered the same thing and have never seen this crap quality of beef that we were served. The grilled onions were also disappointing, and probably the smallest amount of onions I've seen for a family sized fajita platter. The amount we got was probably less than what you expect for a 1/2 pound platter. For $80 for the dish, we expected real beef that is tender and marinated, instead, what we received was for the most part completely inedible and unidentifiable. Compared with its other locations and any El Tiempo or OG Ninfa's, this was in the double A / minor leagues unfortunately. Overall, the service was great and the food was a complete letdown, which is a first for me at Lupe Tortilla. But one thing I want to complain about is that the music is played so loud that one can hardly talk and keep a conversation. It's pretty disturbing to the point that my ears were buzzing. Came out to Sugarland to pick up a slot machine. Had some time to kill. So went to lunch at this restaurant . I'm so glad we did. The salsa is great. They also have a pinto bean dip that is just like a side dish on the menu. The chips are thin and crispy. They don't skimp on the portions. I got a Carnitas omelette. My wife got the chicken chiliquillas. I'm telling you the best Mexican food we have had in Texas. The service was great. No wait,walked in and were seated immediately. Surprisingly we have never been to this Lupe location before, so we met some friends here for dinner the other day. Really, really great atmosphere, good lighting and nice roomy tables. It was fairly loud, so if you're dining with someone who has trouble hearing you might was to keep that in mind. Plenty of staff, and managers walking around asking if anyone needed anything. I knocked a star off my rating because I felt like the portion size was lacking. I ordered the half pound Carne Asada fajitas ($33) and they really undercut that half pound. It came with 6-7 thin slices of carne asada. One pretty small scoop of rice, beans, and three tortillas (which seems fairly standard). I will add that they included a generous scoop of guacamole that was fresh and delicious. All in all a fairly good experience and will probably be back although I'll definitely try something else on the menu. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. Had a work group of 8 professional ladies. Almost every order we received was presented incorrectly. Two of us never even got our food because it came out wrong and we sat there the whole hour and a half while everyone else ate. When it finally came it was in a to go bag and then they had the nerve to charge us for to go service. I love the location near my house in Tomball but this location in Sugarland is terrible. We had several employees come over showing concern but did not comp anything for our trouble. Brunch on the weekend is delicious. Went there this past weekend and sat in the bar area, the ambiance is great televisions around to watch your favorite college game. My friend took me here for to celebrate my birthday and I had a pretty great dining experience here. I mean, it didn't start great because when I had arrived, the hostess' attitude was pretty 'meh'. I had asked her if I could be seated outside in the patio and she had one of those 'take a deep breath, sigh, fine' attitudes. And when I was seated (my friend was running late), she just put down the menu on the table like whatever (read: not the right way up - sideways and upside down), said the necessary 'your server is going to be right with you' and then walked away. My experience after this was awesome though. Our waitress, Amy, was awesome. During my dining experience, she came by a lot to check on us to see if we needed anything else. She was probably the most attentive server that I've ever had at any Lupe locations. Now, food. We had the queso to share, a beef fajita for one for me, and tres leches cake to share. I also had a Mango-Rita because, why not? Everything was delicious, as expected. Absolutely no complaints with the food. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back to this location but hopefully when I do, whoever the hostess is would have a better attitude; and maybe I could get a server who's as great as Amy was! read more

We came here with a large group of 14 on a Monday around 5pm. No reservation was made but they were able to seat us easily in one of their back rooms. I was impressed with the service; it can be quite difficult to wait on a group this large and they did an excellent job.
