Ellicott City has long been a place for great eats. This city is not to be missed when it comes to breakfast. Jam Eateries has a cool open floor concept that takes breakfast dining to a different stratosphere with a neighborhood brunch ambiance, cold pressed drinks, complex omelettes and homemade biscuits. I ordered the Hangover cure cold pressed drink which has lemon, apple, ginger, and carrot. Deliciousness in a glass. For my entree I indulged in the Kitchen Sink omelette: bacon, sausage, ham, chorizo, red onion, peppers, sauted mushrooms and pepper jack cheese. The omelette also came with home fries and I opted for their homemade biscuits instead of the toast. I recommend that you get this uniquely delicious omelette, home fries and the biscuit. The biscuit was fluffy. You can tell the dough was kneaded with love and had the southern style texture. These biscuits are worth fighting for! Service was great and efficient. Visited for first time this morning with a few friends. Menu had pretty much all the breakfast choices you could ask for. Service was friendly and prompt considering how busy it was. I just went here for the first time for my birthday brunch!! Very nice staff, very uncomfortable seating. I mean the seats are hard against my boney behind. We had a party of 5 and it was a little difficult getting a large enough set up for us. We had to move three times with my elderly parents but it was cool. This kind of situation could be avoided if they take reservations. They don't. You have to show up and hope for the best in a sea of chaos. That being said, the food Is what we care about; we got the wings to begin. Oooh they weee hearty, thick and juicy just like I like it baby. Maybe slightly undercooked but they kept it cute. Nice little slight tang on that sauce baby and lots of sexy sauce! I dipped my fries in the sauce and got freaky with it. I loved my omelette covered in an unapologetic sausage gravy. The omelette was freakishly stuffed with bacon, cheeses, sausage and onions. It has a slight kick to it. Delicious. Large portion and enough for two if you want to be cheap on a date like me! The food was okay . . . I chalk that up to the crowd. The restaurant was overcrowded; we arrived at 11:40 and were initially told that it was an hour wait. We checked back at 12:30, then told that it was another half hour. When we checked back at 1:00 it was yet another half hour. We decided to sit at the bar. Wow this place is tops! The staff is very attentive and friendly (good job John). The menu is extensive. They *KNOW* how to poach an egg perfectly. And plllleeease try the corned beef hash. If you like canned mushy style hash with globs of potatoes, this isn't for you. But if you're up for moist intensely flavorful corned beef, it's amazing. The cappucino muffin made my eyes roll back in my head it was soooo good. We sat in a booth, which we prefer, but it was a bit uncomfortable (deep wooden seats aren't for those of us short folk). I met someone for breakfast and it was so good I returned two days later. The food is fresh, the staff is attentive and the restaurant is well laid out, lots of room and very clean. But the star here is the delicious breakfast food, made with care. I've been making poached eggs all my life and I can't come close to the way they make them here - perfection. You can tell that some staff are just nice and others are pretended. The first time I went I order the chorizo omelette, as a Laguna, the omelette was not good, they are using the good chorizo! The home fries were also old the first time around. I tied my partner's pancakes and they were so dry they just fell apart! However my husband loved his meal. We decided to give it another try. The second time around, I tried the Begal and Lox , the Berry Good smoothie and a hot chocolate. All were good, fresh ingredients. I took a noble of my husband's home fries and they were better. I didn't bother with the pancakes. The Griddle Combo, comes with 2 eggs, meats, house fries and pancakes, waffle or French toast. Stopped in here for brunch. This place is really popular. Really good and fast service. Even though there were a lot of people waiting to be seated, it only took 15 minutes to get us in. The staff is very friendly. Other than the server, a few other people stopped at our table to ask if we needed anything, one being the manager. Plenty of food options for everyone. Visited JAM Eateries for brunch on a Sunday morning and the restaurant had been very crowded! They don't take reservations and the wait for 2 people was about an hour. Luckily, the bar and the ledge in front of the kitchen are seat yourself so we were able to sit immediately. The restaurant is a fairly good size and very cute inside. It's exactly what you'd expect of a brunch restaurant, airy and lively. Our waitress came over immediately with water and took our order. For drinks, we had the mimosa flight and Jammin signature Bloody Mary. The mimosas were okay. I wish the champagne had more bubbles. It seems they use a flavor syrup rather than juice. My boyfriend enjoyed the Bloody Mary though! For food we had the chicken and waffles which were okay. The chicken is crunchy but could use more flavor for our liking. The Don't Forget the Veggies omelet is great! The Griddle Combo had been pretty good as well. I upgraded my pancakes to the Jammin Berry Pancakes which I enjoyed - no syrup needed! First time visit and was very impressed with the quality of food and the number of innovative offerings along with standard menu offerings. Very attentive server, Tiffany made sure this coffee lover never lacked for a refill or creamer. The spaces are urban chic with lots of light from plenty of windows. There is an outdoor patio available. The large open space is slightly broken up into smaller 'rooms' and despite the large number of tables, we were served fairly quickly. Hard surfaces for flooring etc, make for a somewhat noisy environment but still easy to carry on conversations. The price was a good value when you consider the above average quality of the food. The ambiance was cute. The service was good but the food was awful. I ordered the lobster Benedict and the presentation was a fail. They did it wipe around the plate before serving. The lobster had no taste and was overcooked. The egg was poached perfectly but because everything else was off and not seasoned, it made it a epic fail. I loved thos place when I first ate here. About a month ago a person serving my food was talking to another employee with my food in hand. He did not have a mask on. The manager was very nice and came in response to the waitress expressing my concern. The person talking over my food was not a server but someone who cleans the tables. No restaurant food is worth 45 minutes to wait, and certainly not this place. So many choices in the area for brunch, this won't be one we will select in the future. Positive first..the food presentation is beautiful, choices are awesome ambiance is nice (if you're okay with noise). However, newer waiters/waitress need to be shadowed for a while (especially on a heavy traffic day like Sunday). Our waitress (while as sweet as can be) seemed overwhelmed and often distracted. Our food while beautiful was lukewarm and became cold while waiting for additional condiments. Also, I was appalled to discover that the syrup that comes with your meal is McDonald's grade syrup (I learned after the fact that you can have 100% maple syrup upon REQUEST for an up charge). To me, the restaurant and the menu is above the basic syrup. It takes away from the taste of the food. Just increase the price if you must and serve 100% maple syrup ONLY please...We were so disappointed that we didn't even eat half of the food. However I am not giving up, will give it another try.
