The Collective Offshore is a very nice casual restaurant with several nice food offerings. The day we came, it just so happened to be restaurant week, so we had the restaurant week menu, the regular menu, the Happy Hour menu and the Special's menu. Yes, we were inundated with menus, and I believe we ordered an item from each one.. Lol! We sat at the bar, so service was immediate. The bartender was super engaging and you can tell he loved his job. He was extremely knowledgeable on all the menus which we found impressive! Everything we ordered was very good. For appetizers we had raw oysters and calamari. For entrees we went with the Halibut and the Beef Short Rib. Again, all tasty! The drinks were also made to perfection. If I lived closer to Columbia, this restaurant would be in my regular rotation. Unfortunately I don't and The Collective Offshore isn't the type of restaurant I'd routinely drive 45 miles for :(. Tried Offshore Collective again recently, and here was my experience. I got a young white dude for a waiter who didn't know much about the menu or what was what with the food he was also sloooooow and I think he only had 3 tables. It took 20 minutes to get 2 beers brought to my tables I ended up having to go get the waiter ask if my beers were ready and when we asked for crackers or bread, he told me that he couldn't bring it unless he charged $$$ me for it. Now that is ridiculous. I've never been charged for bread or even just crackers or something to nibble on while you order and wait for your food, but they have decided here that they're gonna start charging for that. Ridiculous!!!!!! and it started out the evening by pissing me off. So after I actually went to the bar to get my own drink, cause I got tired of waiting the guy..... he finally took our order and I ordered a beet salad thinking it had some kind of dressing with a little ranch on the side. Well, I got a salad with no dressing with a little dipper for ranch dressing and had to order regular dressing in addition. I think this was probably the dumb waiter fault for not making it clear to the kitchen that I wanted the salad with the dressing and a little ranch on the side. So blaming him... Second of all, my Date ordered the cauliflower steak, NOTE: couple of big problems. First of all you couldn't cut it with the butter knife that they gave you so it was pretty close to raw versus cooked and so she was trying to saw through it multiple times. When she did get a bite, it was SO OVER SPICY that It burned her tongue off and she ended up only being able to eat 1/2 of her entrée because it was so spicy so that was a bummer. ( not great if you're on a date, ) and I ordered the spaghetti and clams, there were a total of 4 clams in the whole dish, a bunch of chopped canned clams and only enough spaghetti to feed a 5 year-old also ......... it was very small, not very much flavor and for $27 I expected more. So overall, it was kind of disappointing as you can see and for that reason I don't think I'll be going bad and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else because it doesn't seem like they're on the game for the prices they charge. I have wanted to try the Offshore Collective for a while and recently had the chance. We ordered a few cocktails, raw oysters, crab dip, crab cake entree, seafood penne alla vodka, brownie sundae and key lime cheesecake. The oysters were a bit grainy but tasty and huge. Crab cake dish was nice and I loved the accompanying vegetables. I will say the Seafood Penne was pretty spicy and had to switch entrees with my companion as I don't tolerate spice well. I feel that it should be added to the menu or the servers should mention it is spicy. Also, the server seemed to think it was strange that I asked for the oysters of the day. That was a bit off putting. The atmosphere is lively and there was an event happening in their private room. I love the design and color scheme of the restaurant not to mention the nice view. Came during Howard restaurant week as my wife and I were looking for a dinner spot to enjoy our parents day off. Restaurant is located right on merriweather next to Whole Foods. Onto the food....the apps were 5 star. The entrees......they could have been better. My biggest issue was the crab cakes. As a Marylander, we don't deep fry our crab cakes; we broil them. They offer a buffet style brunch until 3 PM, and although we arrived close to closing, the staff was kind enough to still honor the buffet, appreciated that. That said, the buffet was a miss for me. They had what looked like a wonderful brunch as a buffet, but I wanted The crabs Benedict. So each one of us got individual plates, including an appetizer of crab Arancini. We came here with high hopes as it's a great location and the menu looked good. It was a date night with another couple. We were sitting for about 10 minutes before we saw a server, I had to go to the front and ask if we had a server for someone to come over. Our drinks, appetizers and entrées were all put in late... When it was time for our food to come out (about 45 min later) our server came over and told us that they were out of the prime rib that I had ordered- immediately after everyone else's entrées came out. While my replacement entrée was good, our friend's steak that was supposed to be medium was extra well done and burnt on the ends. He didnt eat it and it was taken off the check. My friend's chicken was dry and cold. When mentioning something to the manager, she seemed very confused about the situation and offered free dessert after my husband stated we were just going to leave (we stayed)... Then the dessert was put on our check. We mentioned something and it was taken off. We were there for basically the whole night because everything took so long. Our friends were really upset. I ended up emailing the restaurant and they offered absolutely nothing but a an apology clearly made from chat GPT which is why I'm writing this review. We stumbled upon this place since the other two restaurants we tried were both closed. I haven't been to the Columbia lake area in so long and today was a nice day to walk around. We didn't have reservations and there wasn't a hostess so we waited to check out the restaurant. I definitely noticed a nautical theme. A special shout-out to the chef, who went above and beyond to accommodate one of our friends with multiple food allergies--he even met her personally to ensure her meal was safe. They had big shoes to fill taking over the spot. With that, my review is mixed. The food was great! The appetizers were probably my favorite and I wanted to try all of them. I ordered off the restaurant week menu, so it was not items off the normal menu. Others at my table ordered off the regular menu. Both options were great. The andouille meatball appetizer was heavy, but very creative flavors and well cooked. The downfall was the wait. After we got our appetizers, we waited about an hour for our dinner. The manager came to apologize twice for how long it took. Not to mention we had hangry kids at that point and we just wanted their pasta. Once the food came it was really good and probably worth waiting for, but then you'd think they'd bring out the dessert that was pre ordered with the restaurant week menu right away, but that still took another 30ish minutes. Once again, when it came, it was stupid good. The other pitfalls that need some fixing, they did not have a printed kids menu. I feel like that sends a message to parents and their options were only a burger, chicken tender, or pasta. All with fruit. I get that it's a nicer restaurant, but kids can be fancy too. The Bronzino was cooked to perfection - lightly crispy on the outside and soft and buttery with every bite. Rice Pilaf is always a risk for me and I was not disappointed one bit! The green beans maintained a crisp only a fine chef could time, so kudos! The lump crab cake dish was a 10 across the board. Had an impromptu brunch with my girlfriends here last Sunday. It was a nice 70 degree day so a casual brunch with a view of Lake Kittamaqundi was a great way to start the new week. I was torn between the brunch buffet which had a great selection but because we were at the tale end of brunch time, I opted for something cooked hot on the spot. Best decision I made was by ordering the Crab Cake Melt! I thoroughly enjoyed every drop of the large crab cake on a brioche bun with bacon, tomato and hollandaise sauce. Instead of the breakfast potatoes, I substituted for chipotle ranch fries. They tasted like regular fries but with a splash of ranch and old bay seasoning. My girlfriends both ordered the Offshore Breakfast. One opted for Turkey sausage while the other had bacon. We all ate our plates so I would assume theirs was good as well. Now the mimosas we ordered were great in taste but less in size (half a glass). I would 100% return because there are other items I would like to try on both the brunch and dinner menu, as well as other cocktails we saw come out to other tables. Offshore is a great place for a scenic brunch and walk around the lake but also nice for a romantic date night. The bar is nostalgic due its reminder of Clydes but the new, bright look and charm that they've put into this place makes it a gem. This is my second time attending a private Family Event here. This is a great location it's on the Columbia Waterfront across from the Columbia Mall. Our Family event food was Brunch Buffet style, sorry forgot to take pictures of the food. We had several items to choose from. I thought everything tasted good. I had their Cheeseburger the last time I was here and it was one of the best Burgers I've ever had. The restaurant has a nautical and beach feel. All of the Staff was nice and the Servers that were assigned to our Event provided us with exceptional care. We visited on a Sunday about 30 mins before brunch was ending. They offered us a table to at order drinks while we waited for the service transition to their regular menu. We successfully ordered and received 2 glasses of wine, but everything went downhill after that. After almost an hour and a half, we received the wrong appetizers, our entree orders were never placed and the server could've cared less. The beet salad had about a tablespoon of cut up beets and a teaspoon of dressing and feta cheese for 16 bucks. The highlights was the location, the breeze from sitting on their outside terrace and the manager, Aure. Her customer service was top notch. She was definitely a problem solver and she went out of her way to accommodate and provide options on how to improve our dining experience. I would give her 5 stars for sure! read more

The wife and I went for trivia and had a blast. We had to park a little ways from the entrance with a few steps to consider but it was well worth the walk. The view was nice as it sits right off the water and is very spacious and welcoming when you come in. I also loved how casual the place was. We got there early and caught the happy hour. They are in the former Clyde's location but the interior has been completely remodeled and given a bit more light and airy feel. The food was excellent. Great seafood selections, as you would expect from the name. I had the Saffron Scampi Seafood Pasta and it was flavorful and creamy. Lots of seafood with half a lobster tail for a reasonable price. My friend shared some of her crab cake dinner with me and it was a respectable crab cake offering considering the local Maryland challengers nearby. The service still feels a little green.
