Brown Stew Chicken with Rice & Peas

The food was damn good -- full of flavor, nicely seasoned, and cooked just right. I'd definitely order it again, but you really need to serve larger portions. $20 USD fi 2 small food and a Bigga soda -- it's not bad, but honestly, I feel like I could get a bit more value for that price elsewhere. The portion size just didn't match what I expected based on how it's listed. Also, you might want to update your DoorDash menu, because what exactly is "express serving"? When I ordered it, I thought I was paying for two large meals, since the label looked different from the "small" option. It was confusing, and I only realized after receiving the order. Still, props to the chef -- the food was on point! Just a little menu clarity and bigger portions, and it would've been perfect.

I tried the oxtail here, I've tried better oxtail but this was still good. I may come back to try the little stew chicken special just because I saw it was around $6

More like a 3.5. Had the jerk chicken mini meal. $5 for rice and two pieces of chicken. The chicken was a bit cold but the value is too good to really knock it. Also tried the spicy beef patty which was incredible and the lovely lady who took our order threw in a chicken curry patty to try and it was also good. They're open late and I'd go back to try their other foods. The oxtail at the table next to us looked/smelled awesome.

I love Jam Eng's hours - after going out down town it's the perfect late night snack. The oxtails were so tender and were more meat than bone (which we LOVE). There's a decent amount of seating, which is great because it gets busy. Staff are friendly.

This gave all the feels of a quick service restaurant. The oxtails were great with good flavor and gravy! I would have liked some additional seasoning on the cabbage but for people watching their salt intake, this allows you to add salt to your liking. It was warm in the restaurant but I rarely have been to a Caribbean restaurant that wasn't warm in the inside! Give it a go, you don't be disappointed.

The service was amazing, and the lady working was so sweet! The music added such a nice touch to the atmosphere--it was definitely a whole vibe. The food was really good too, and the portions were super generous for the price. Overall, it's a 5/5 for me!

You can smell the food down the street! We had the chicken patty, spicy beef patty and vegetable patty, and jerk chicken. Best Jamaican patties! He also threw in 2 vegan chicken wings for us to try! Everything was amazing, even the vegan chicken which we are not vegetarian by any stretch. Can't wait to go back for some oxtail which is a favorite of mine. Definitely will be back!

Awesome beef patties. Staff was very friendly and owner very friendly. I highly recommend.

I ordered take-out here and thought the food tasted pretty good. I tried the vegan fish ($10) and jerk drumsticks ($12) which tasted flavorful with the sauce that came with it. The rice and veggies were just pure salty but it balanced well with the protein. Only downside was I had also ordered a Shepherds pie, but it was missing in the order. Turns out they had run out of it though it was only 4pm on a Saturday. At least they were nice about offering to make something else. They said they couldn't provide a refund directly, so I had to report the issue to Uber Eats. Good service by very friendly staff. Parking was a hassle, but that's to be expected downtown.

Nice spot to grab a quick lunch. Can't beat $5 brown stew chicken with rice and pease. I wish they added more gravy though.

I could see lots of people bringing dates here. First up, I tried a $17 Tree of Life. The drink the bartender made me was maybe 2 sips. There's a giant ice cube and a bamboo leaf or something and very little drink to drink. Not sure what to make of this because as soon as I was deciding if I liked it or not, it was gone. Wouldn't order this again. Second, I tried a $17 Adam & Eve. I wish the matcha was much stronger. There's a place in Tampa called Tori Bar that has a super duper matcha tasting cocktail. This one was much lighter. It was fine, not my favorite. Maybe I'd bring a date here sometime, but wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

I arrived just before their 4 PM opening and grabbed a seat at the beautiful quartz bar top once the doors opened. Happy hour was the mission, and I decided to build my meal entirely from the HH menu. To start, I ordered a mojito along with the tostones and shrimp skewers. The mojito was an excellent opening act. Refreshing, balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. The tostones were also well executed. They were pressed to the perfect thickness, creating a crisp exterior while maintaining a tender center. The topping was flavorful, though I found it a bit sparse and could have used a little more generosity. The shrimp skewers were the standout dish of the evening. Served over white rice with a mango sofrito, they were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. While the portion was respectable, they were so good I immediately found myself wishing I had ordered more. As a follow-up to the mojito, I ordered a margarita. Another winner. The bar program appears to be taken very seriously here, and both cocktails were thoughtfully prepared and well balanced. The restaurant's decor is tasteful and inviting, creating a comfortable atmosphere without feeling overly polished. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and well trained throughout the visit. The only minor challenge is parking, as the lot is shared with neighboring businesses and can become crowded depending on the time of day. It's a small inconvenience and certainly not enough to detract from the experience. Overall, Otto's High Dive made a terrific first impression. Between the strong cocktail program, well-executed Cuban-inspired cuisine, and attentive service, it's easy to see why this place has developed a following. I'll definitely be back to explore more of the regular menu.
