I was pleasantly surprised by my meal here! On first appearance I wasn't sure how it was going to taste but everything tasted really good. The bbq chicken was very flavorful and tasted great when paired with the plantain and the Mac n cheese. The rice wasn't my favorite but I'd be interested in trying their other side options. The service was very fast and friendly which is always a great bonus!

The food, service and ambiance was awesome! I will definitely be back soon! There was not a long wait for the food and it was deliciously hot! The service was amazingly inviting and gave great suggestions! The environment was very friendly and entertaining with a wonderful vibe! The bar was a definite bonus!

I visited this restaurant within The Great Southern Box Company food hall. This restaurants menu jumped out at me, and I knew I had to order a bowl from them. The staff was very friendly and helpful when it came to ordering. The whole menu is creating your own bowl with 1 protein, 1 base, 3 sides, and 1 sauce. I chose BBQ chicken, yellow rice, sweet plantains, corn salsa, cornbread, and pineapple ginger sauce. They also have bottled sodas and juices. It took about 15 minutes for the food to come out. My food was all very flavorful. Decent portion of meat but do with there was more corn salsa in comparison to the yellow rice. The sweet plantains were some of the best I've had. While the pineapple ginger sauce was good it is more of a juice and not thick like a sauce. I am interested in returning and trying the jerk chicken.

My husband and I stumbled across the Great Southern Box Food Hall while looking for a spot to grab lunch the other day and he was excited to see Kayos Jamaican food. They have a variety of Jamaican fare from jerky patties, jerk chicken, ribs, plantains, macaroni and cheese, and much more! He started with a sweet tea, a spicy jerk patty, curry chicken with rice, plantains, macaroni and cheese, and a side of jerk sauce. The meal was a good size and came with a plastic lid in case you have leftovers. The curry chicken was tender, flavorful, and delicious. The jerk patty was warm, crispy outside, and had just the right amount of heat. The jerk sauce had good flavor and wasn't too spicy. My husband likes his jerk sauce hot, so he asked if they had one that is hot and they made him a hot sauce that really packed a punch! Great service! Rating from F to A+++, we give it an A++.

I came to this food hall excited to try some good Jamaican food, but that excitement was short lived I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, sweet plantains and macaroni and cheese. The rice had to be made yesterday or maybe 2 days ago. The macaroni and cheese was dry as if it had been sitting under a heat lamp for the last 12 hours. The jerk chicken is chopped chicken breast and whoever seasoned was very heavy handed with the salt. The best thing in my bowl was the cabbage which was sauteed correctly and very savory. This place made me come out of Yelp retirement, it is straight up trash. Oh wait I also had a chicken pattie that was so dry that the inside was crunchy

Easily the best Jamaican food I've had stateside. The flavor is authentic, the creations are interesting (try the jerk chicken pasta), and the lady running it is just a sweetheart to her core. Do yourself a favor and give these guys a try. You won't regret it

    Do not get the pasta!!!

Decided to try this establishment when visiting the new food hall and I was disappointed. When I asked the female attendant about the 'Rasta Pasta' ($18) she was not informative at all - basically had a blank stare. Regardless, I decided to give it a try based on the picture they had of the pasta on their counter (a pasta that included chicken, peppers, in a cream sauce). They said they would text me once the order was done and after waiting 40 minutes without a text my husband went to ask if our order was ready and apparently it was in the warmer. When I opened it I asked him if it was the correct order because it looked NOTHING like the picture. So I went to the counter with the pasta and asked the girl about it because it looked nothing like the picture. She went back and got the owner/cook and he said 'oh it's just the parsley on top. I can give you some parsley', to which I said 'it's not the parsley, there are no peppers and the color is not even the same'. He literally went to the back and just chopped up peppers and put it on the dish. While I appreciate him cutting peppers, that's not what the picture looked like!!! The peppers were clearly cooked/grilled in the creamy orange colored sauce while my pasta looked like a cool yellow color. So between the non-informative employee, the long wait AND not getting what I paid for, this place is a hard PASS!

No complaints there at all. Beef Patty: 2/5 - The seasoning was actually pretty good, so the flavor was there. Unfortunately, the patty itself was very dry and had much less beef filling than I expected. I kept hoping for a better bite, but it never really happened. Coco Bread: 1/5 - It was served warm, which was nice, but it was also quite dry. I was expecting the soft, buttery, slightly sweet coco bread that's perfect for pairing with a patty. This one missed the mark for me. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible thanks to the excellent customer service, but the food just didn't live up to what I expect from a Jamaican restaurant. There are enough great Jamaican spots around Orlando, that I probably wouldn't make a return trip here. I was rushing on my break or I would've taken a photo.

The giant NOW OPEN banner was flapping like it personally invited me, and the storefront painted in bold Trinidad flag colors looked ready to hand out citizenship papers with every order. I walked in thinking I'd grab a quick bite. Rookie mistake, one look at the doubles and suddenly I'm ordering five. Then I'm calling my aunt and cousin like it's a family emergency: "Allyuh want doubles? Because these looking SERIOUS." Next thing you know, I'm walking out with ten doubles like I'm catering a small festival. And let me tell you, these doubles? Soft bara, perfectly seasoned channa, pepper and tamarind sauce hugging everything like a warm Caribbean auntie. I've basically been on a doubles‑only diet since, and honestly, I feel spiritually aligned. I even ate one cold from the fridge and it still slapped. That's when you know it's real. Then there's the boneless curry chicken with buss‑up‑shut. Pure comfort. The kind of meal that makes you close your eyes after the first bite. The potatoes were soft enough to spread on a cracker, the channa was rich and earthy, and the chicken tasted like somebody's grandmother was in the back whispering, "Put a lil' more seasoning, nah." The buss‑up‑shut was fluffy, torn, and ready to scoop up every drop of curry like it had a mission. And the pepper sauce? Flavorful. Respectful. Not trying to fight me or send me to the ER. A rare and beautiful thing. The place is clean, the parking is plentiful, and the staff has real Trini accents that instantly make everything feel more authentic. Even the way they say "Next!" has rhythm. Next time, I'm calling ahead for dhal phourie, because clearly this place does not miss and I'm not risking it selling out. If you see me there again, mind your business! I'm probably ordering another ten doubles and living my best life.

The best item was the Fried Dumplings. They were fresh and cooked perfectly. The Pineapple Ginger Juice is a favorite. It's refreshing whether it's served bottled or from the fountain. The juice has a good balance of the pineapple and ginger flavors.

Plus, they were on Uber Eats and I didn't feel like going out. Ordered my usual Jamaican dish - brown stew chicken with rice and peas and vegetables. Started out with the carrot cake - 10/10. Cake was moist, cream cheese icing was creamy and not too sweet, a good amount of carrots in the cake, a big portion sliced in half for sharing, and an affordable price. Brown stew chicken - 5/10. Ok flavor, but the chicken was kind of dry. I would have liked extra gravy but was unable to make that special request. Rice and peas - 10/10. Rice was good, nice hint of coconut milk, peas cooked perfectly. Veggies - 2/10. Bland AF. Everything except for the cabbage tastes like it came from a can. Plantain - 2/10. Bland, kinda dry. Would only order from here again for the carrot cake.

I was getting together with some friends and we ordered from Negril. Luckily, a couple of my friends are Jamaican and they helped steer me to some new faves! Food I'd highly recommend: - Brown stew chicken meal with rice and peas, fried plantain, and stewed cabbage. This dish is rich and has the potential for leftovers if you're not starving. For the uninitiated, Jamaican rice and peas consist of red kidney beans and rice that's cooked in broth, coconut milk, and tons of aromatic spices. This isn't your white rice and green peas type of situation. I could have eaten this rice on its own, but add in the brown stew sauce and WOW. Also, I love the cabbage side because it adds a vinegary note that offsets the rich stew. Note: The chicken is cut up and includes bones. - Coco bread: This is a Jamaican style bun baked with coconut milk. It's especially good when paired with a patty in the middle (yes, the coco bread around the patty! Carb heaven!). - Festival: Jamaican festival is a sweet fried dough made with cornmeal, flour, sugar, salt, vanilla extract, and milk aka a dumpling. Yes this is as good as it sounds- especially for soaking up brown stew gravy! I was BLOWN away to see an entire veggie section of the menu (for online ordering) featuring soya veggie chunks (a soy based option with the consistency of chicken). That's a HUGE deal for those of us with vegetarians in the family. Overall, delicious Jamaican food that I'll definitely order again!

The jerk chicken, I got with rice and peas, mixed veggies and cabbage. The cabbage was a little strange to me- not as I imagined from Jamaica steamed cabbage. This was the highlight - it was very flavorful, though I wish I would be able to have the sauce on the side.. For the fried chicken meal - the fried chicken was nice and hot. I got this to-go and was worried it would get soggy but it still tasted great when I got home. Environment This is located in a plaza tucked away near the corner. It seems to be a more takeout restaurant. There is some seats inside for your to enjoy the food. But instead we were seated right in front of the live band and it was so loud, we couldn't talk at all. The funny thing was that the restaurant was barely half full! Our waiter also had a tough time hearing us so we had to corret our orders a couple of times. They ran out of beef patties:-( that day. We decide to order some appetizers and a couple of entrees and shared. We had the Buffalo Soldier Jerk Wings - Had a nice spice to it and was quite delicious. We also hd the Jerk Caulifolower bites - a little sweet and spicy sauce and we all agreed this was the best dish we had! We had the Curried Goat stew - a weak curry and did not really have any spice to it. The Reggae Jamaican Jerk Chicken had a sweet spice and sticky sauce - next best dish we had. We also ordered the Coco bread- which was disappointing andd I do not recommend. It was just bread with some butter in it and definitely overpriced for what you got! Cocktails were rather weak. Server was just OK. He wasn't very attentive and did nothing to make our visit great.
