We are new to the area and I have been on a mission to discover my favorite area breakfast spot. So far, this place is near the top of the list. The food is reasonably priced and the portions are generous. The servers are friendly and attentive and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I guess my only complaint is that the food was good, but falls just short of great. The menu is very traditional and everything I have tried I have liked. Dining area is clean, decor is tasteful, staff was nice enough. Lots of choices on the menu. It's a trap. There are two problems that ensure I will never return: 1. The food is marginal, but expensive. Breakfast for 2 was well over $20. Yikes. 2. Service was slow and failed to get our order right. Instead of a vegetarian omlet with cage free eggs and asparagus, they served a spanish omlet with chorizo and jalepenos. Yuck. There were only 3 tables seated, it's not like this was a busy time. When remaking it, they rushed, so the next one was undercooked. Ick. Hey, at least they gave us the price of the less expensive omlet... Moondance cafe in Burr Ridge is much, much better. Just had breakfast at Jam n Jelly Cafe. Was going very well until my husband had poured ketchup on his omelette, tasted it and oh oh spoiled ketchup. I proceeded to look at ketchup bottle ugh it was bubbling. Please don't tell me they mix ketchup bottles together. Ketchup smelled, not good. Hope hubby doesn't get sick. Told waitress she brought new bottle of ketchup. Husband could not finish meal. Owner never came around until I requested her to do so. Brought back ketchup bottle (not the same one). Just wanted to let her know to check ketchup bottles. Not very nice wasn't looking for a free meal just asking please be more careful. She sent server back with a gift certificate (10.00) really? Pretty standard breakfast and lunch. I ordered the Chicken Capri panini with fries and a cream of chiken soup. The soup was fantastic, but the panini lacked seasoning and flavour. The rest of my family all ordered omelettes, it seemed they were not so impressed. Place this our order over the phone to pick up and the omelette was horrible we requested tomatoes and instead we got tomatoes on the side the hash browns was mediocre they put one pack of syrup in the bag for some pancakes and French toast. First off... mad props to the interior decorator. Now... most importantly one must mention the quality of food. It is obvious that they do not have a high grade of pancake mix at all. Some of the quality is not up to par. For it appears they are attempting to set off a higher standard for breakfast in this area, but food quality should come before aesthetics. The biggest problem I have is that they appear to be trying to hard to get my attention, with the presentation of the food and the handmade jelly's. This cute little place is tucked away in a strip mall, but if you find yourself shopping in this area I recommend it for breakfast or lunch. They have a variety of unique breakfast items that looked yummy, but after spotting another diner with an incredible-looking lox, cream cheese and bagel platter I was sold. The lox was super fresh and came with all sorts of things to build the perfect lox sandwich - cucumbers, feta cheese, olives, capers, etc. My husband just has a side of fresh fruit due to a bad experience at Red Lobster the night before, but that is another Yelp review completely...anyway, the fruit was fresh and when he wanted to bring it home the waiter brought a container marked with the contents and the date. I love breakfast. I do not love this place. I got a skillet and as far as value it was not. The skillet was very shallow and half the potatoes were under cooked. My wife got the stuffed french toast and the waitress talked here into getting cinnamon apples on top.....they came out with cinnamon peaches. Which much to her dismay look very much like slightly burnt cinnamon apples. They however do not taste like apples, they taste like a pile of terrible. The pancakes were nothing special but the coffee kept flowing. That is more indicative of the waitress than the restaurant, but i digress. If you want an overpriced breakfast there are much better places that aren't that far down the road. read more

Stopped in today for lunch with my friend. Overall service was good I ordered the jammin burger looked great until I tasted the pretzel bun. I love pretzel buns and this one was old not toasted and cold. So I just ate the burger without the bun, just average but not the worst . My friend had the skillet and she enjoyed the meal. Next time not going to order the burger, I'll try something else. A pretty nice place to grab a bite but need to check your food before it goes out. read more

Let me start by saying this was an interesting experience. The food was your normal breakfast options, but with more variety. So if you wanted an omelet, scan and see what you might want in there, cuz there were a lot to choose from. The wrapped egg and bacon in the pancake was great! I love Sunday brunch! Sunday brunch feels like a weekly holiday celebration before you take on your week. Then you do it all over again! Jam n' Jelly exceeds my brunch expectation. The hot brunch spot is hidden in a small plaza on Lemont and 75th. I believe my first reaction was "Huh? Is this the place?" Please don't be fooled by the outside. I will admit I was a little skeptical at first glance. My boyfriend and I were hungry and floating around Naperville, and stumbled upon this place... thanks to the Yelp App on my iPhone. The interior is nice and our server is nice... blah blah. Let me jumped into the food. One thing that's great about brunching with your boyfriend is sharing two plates. My boyfriend and I ordered the Mediterranean Omelets for something savory and the Stuffed Peaches & Cream French Toast for our sweet cravings. Usually when you go to a restaurant, you might like one component on the plate, but you might think everything else is okay. At the end, you might consider it a good meal. At Jam n Jelly, I loved EVERYTHING on both plates. The Mediterranean Omelet was probably the best omelet I had in awhile, but the French toast was a real treat. The cream is injected inside the toast, and the caramelized peaches placed on top. The toast was toasted and crunchy in the right places. When you take a bite, you can taste the lovely cream melted in your mouth. I wished I had more room in my stomach to try something else, but I was so full. Overall I enjoyed my time and Jam n Jelly... obviously. The price is pretty reasonable. I really enjoyed glancing at their menu and reading the descriptions. I would describe the menu as being "comfortably-creative." They don't try to distract you with the bells and whistles on the plates. The food really speaks for itself. read more

After reading a review that compared this place to Egg Harbor Cafe, I have to say - not even close! The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because the service was actually very good in my experience. First of all, their coffee is horrible! It was very bitter. Secondly, I ordered the Southwest Wrap with the salsa on the side and was then told they couldn't put it on the side?? Why not? Also, the sandwich was just spicy - there were no other flavors happening. Finally, even the french fries were bad. Seriously? How do you mess up french fries? Food was ok. Service....needs improvement!!! Monday, 1pm place has about 4 tables full rest are empty. Waitress attitude changed when I ordered to share a dish with my 93 yr old mom. Had to ask twice for a refill on water before receiving it. Not a lot of parking. I have difficulty parking due to depth perception and as I was doing it the hostess was honking at me on her car. Once we went into the cafe she disappeared!! So I would not go back. The manager saw I was looking at him and holding up my empty water pitcher and ignored me. I found this cute little place on our way out of Chicago and was really impressed. It had some charm (little doilies on the table) and they had some good specials. I had the Red Velvet french toast, and it was stuffed with some cream cheese custard, and it was awesome. The bread was so light and fluffy. I also had hash browns, which were a little too crispy but they were good. My boyfriend had a skillet hash with a side of gluten free pancakes! They offered some gluten free sides like toast and pancakes and it was a pleasant surprise. Overall a good experience! read more

I ordered a ham and cheese omelet the picture I posted is exactly how the omelet came out looking I pushed on it with my fork and at least a teaspoon full of grease came out I showed it to the waitress but we had to pay for it anyway I don't know who's more at fault here the guy who cooked it or the guy that sent it out regular owners weren't there if they had been there I'm sure they would not have sent that out looking like that and I'm sure they would not have made me pay for it. I have to say, this was the worst breakfast I have ever had. I got a skillet and it was horrible. It tasted old and that they use the cheapest ingredients possible. I got it with fresh fruit and it was like three chucks of of random fruit. I thought I was going to have to go in the bathroom and be sick. Try to use better quality food and try a little harder. I had the benedict skillet and the canadian bacon tasted like rubber and the potatoes tasted old, eggs were too runny, will never be back and do not advise eating here. read more

Time management is horrible! But food is worth the wait. Excellent food I recommend the Irish skillet! Probably the best cornbeef and hash browns I've ever had. One thing that could make it perfect is if they used chunky cornbeef, but that's just a personal preference. Also the allow you to get French toast instead of just pancakes or plain toast for no extra charge. And you can have your eggs any way you want. I usually get one sunny side up and the other scrambled. The worst part about coming here is that their time management is horrible. We called to ask how long the wait was they replied "no wait". We arrived 3 minutes after calling only to find out there was a 15 minute wait. The ugliest part of this lie in is that 10-15 minutes wait really means 20-30. They tell you 10-15 just so you don't go somewhere else. This is the only flaw in this nice place. read more

If I was just rating their breakfast it would've been an automatic 5 stars. I been here several times for breakfast with various friends and family and every time everyone has been thoroughly impressed. The menu is creative and unique and walks the fine line of being comfortably upscale without being trendy, pretentious and expensive. The french toasts are my favorites (especially the banana bread one) but I've also enjoyed their waffles, skillets and omelet. The crepes were also above average but paled in comparison to the rest of the menu. The sides are all excellent including the hash browns (which are some of the best I've ever eaten) and their homemade jams! Their lunch is definitely still good but unfortunately much less exciting, perhaps somewhere around 3 stars. Our table of four had a wrap, a sandwich, a panini and a salad and nothing really stood out. As with breakfast, the portions are very generous and the fries, while not homemade, are very good, but the overall plates just lacked the refinement that their breakfast items have. The overall taste of the panini was good but the chicken was cut too thick to the point that it was impossible to eat. The buffalo wrap was also good but totally overdressed. We did also have both of the soups that day and they were both really good. I think a little refinement to the lunch menu would go a long way, especially given the high quality of the ingredients. Service has always been above average to great, and that includes weekend mornings when there's a 20 min wait for a table. The owners are always available and friendly and the restaurant is always clean. All in all this is a great addition to the community and definite can't miss for nice breakfast. read more

Had breakfast here for the first time today. The food was really good. Hubby loved his mexican skillet and I had the ham scrambler - absolutely amazing! I was not a huge fan of the hash browns since i like diced potatoes and they serve the shredded but the scrambler made up for it. I will definately go back!!! read more

I stopped in for lunch the other day when I was in the area and was very impressed with Jam n Jelly Cafe. The management was very attentive and seem to care about the place a whole lot. It is always great to see the owners around as opposed to going to a corporate restaurant where no one cares. The waitress went out of her way to make me feel welcome. I started with a cup of Chicken Rice homemade soup. Way better than the garbage that is served a Panera or the Corner Bakery. For lunch I had the Ted's Wrap. Very tasty combo of chicken, sour cream, bbq sauce and jalapeño peppers. Unique flavors....and I love how they grill the wrap, it made for an extra crispy wrap which is rare. Delicious Little Hole in the Wall! I went here based on Yelp ratings, and was not disappointed. The skillets and various renditions on Eggs Benedict are so tasty! I tried the crepes and tho they weren't bad, they weren't great. They were sort of plain, at least the strawberry banana version that I had. All told, I am definitely going to become a regular here now that I live too far away from Blueberry Hill (my fav). It's not super expensive, but slightly more than I would hope. This I can overlook for that fact that it's privately owned and I'm always up for supporting local business owners. The inside is very cute as well which is a plus. I give it a thumbs up. read more
