I've overlooked this place many times as the outside doesn't do justice to what lies inside. Good food, nice clean atmosphere busy with what were clearly regulars, details which are appreciated: (fresh lemon water already at table, real strawberry and BlackBerry jam w/ toast.) Skipped the coffee for espresso... wish I didn't, it wasn't great and ran me $6.10 for a double! Ouch! Even Starbucks only charges $1.95 for a double. Jam 'N' Jelly Cafe is our new local favorite. We have driven past this place on a daily basis and decided to give it a try. We ordered to go and absolutely loved everything we ordered. We tried an Omelette and it was cooked perfectly. They browned it a little bit and thought that was a nice touch. We tried the Monte Cristo and the meat was awesome. It was okay. Honestly, I expected a little more based on the crowdedness of the restaurant. We tried the eggs Benedict, cheesecake crepes, and a special gyro plate. The portions were very generous and the food was good, I just wasn't wowed by it. The eggs Benedict tasted like something I could make at home. Always good to have a brunch place near where I live! I ordered the Spanish omelette which came with a side of hash browns and pancakes. Very huge portion; however tasty and spicy! I do like that there was plenty of chorizo. My friends enjoyed their dishes as well! They had bananas foster waffle and lox omelette. The staff was friendly and the service was fast. Came in here on a Friday morning and it was pretty busy! Usually it looks very busy on weekends....and now I know why. Service is great and even though it was busy we were very well attended. Besides the standard breakfast omelets, skillets, and egg plates...they have many more interesting options and specials of the day. There are a variety of teas to choose from and the coffee is good. We all enjoyed our skillets (mine was veggi..yum yum) and the homemade jam/jelly is a great perk! Normally, we do not ask for a box for leftovers, but the cranberry walnut bread was so good we had to box it up for later! Overall, I think it is a bit pricier than other neighborhood breakfast places but the food makes up for it so it is worth it. read more

This place has been a number of names since I have moved here, and now it seems brighter and more open. Maybe I just don't remember each place. Stopped in for breakfast this morning. Seated promptly, acknowledged instantly, greeted by our server quickly, and placed our order ALL in just minutes. Everyone appeared happy to help you. Food arrived quickly and was piping hot. It was waaaaaaaaaaaay too much to finish eating. We did not feel rushed so they could turn the table. All in all, a pleasant experience. I would definitely go back, maybe for lunch. read more

We just love coming to Jam and Jelly for Breakfast or Lunch. They have such a wide and varied menu and they never say no to a substitution or reasonable adjustment to your order. There food is always served hot and is consistently a crowd pleaser. If we are going to take a group for breakfast or meet someone for lunch this is a go-to because the food is excellent and the service is quick. All 3 other servers walked by us several times and even looked over at us but no one ever came by our table. After almost fifteen minutes we just walked out. We have been coming to Jam 'n Jelly Cafe for 13 years. We find the food to be excellent as well as the service. I especially like the soups which are not overly salted. Salads are very large and quite creative. Sandwich entrees are excellent with a wide variety of choices. They come with a cup of soup and fries, but your can also substitute fruit or tomatoes. Breakfast entrees are quite sizable and very tasty. Jam 'n' Jelly Cafe is our favorite place for breakfast or lunch. The wait staff is attentive and efficient. The owner is always welcoming and friendly to all who enter. We like to bring our grandchildren here for the great food and positive vibe. I highly recommend this cafe. read more

3.5 to be exact... My husband and I are big breakfast people and love to try new places. We decided to check this place out and we immediately liked the ambiance. The waitress was as friendly as can be. I ordered a vegetarian skillet and it was pretty good...but nothing out of the ordinary. My husband shared some of the turkey patties with me and I wasn't a big fan of the seasoning... I was kind of glad I didn't order it. I love this place so much. Every time I'm in the Chicagoland, I always want to stop by. My favorite thing is their jamming breakfast. We were in a mood for crepes and a brunch order and thought will try this restaurant by our house. Nice ambience and lot of people but the servers were not welcoming . They served others who came after us and we had to wait for a good 10mins for someone to come to us . The server who came by us asked if I wanted coffee looked very rude - I agreed to the coffee thinking it was complementary . Then after couple mins , one of the sweetest server by name Anna came to take our order . After that we felt good about that place . We liked the food but the service seemed very selective by the servers - couldn't quite say what was going on . If it wasn't for Anna , her greeting and sweet and welcoming smile - we would never ever go back there again ! All the servers at the restaurant should be trained to treat and greet the customers with atleast a simple smile . That should not be too hard ! But a nice place otherwise . read more

We come here for weekend breakfast on a weekly basis and we enjoy it. This past weekend, I received my eggs and they were not cooked completely. I immediately returned the dish and requested that it be corrected. They took care of it immediately and apologized and they showed how important perception is. This is why I give five stars. I made my first Jam n Jelly visit recently. This location is inside of a strip mall, and is pretty easy to find. I don''t think that Jam n Jelly accepts reservations, but after we put our names on the list, I think we only had to wait around 15 minutes before being seated. I was in an omelette mood, so I decided to try their lox omelette. Before my visit, I'd had omelette's and lox separately, but not together. I knew I was kind of taking a risk, but decided to go for it anyways. The lox omelette was okay, but it was a little dry and lacked flavor. I think that this omelette option should be revamped by adding another ingredient like capers, or something along those lines. We stopped here on a whim and it was 100% worth it! The owner greeted us at the door and when we asked for suggestions he was friendly offered a few of his favorites. We had amazing service from our waitress and the other staff as well. The food was hands down amazing - the bacon is the nice, thick substantial kind and the mini waffles were cute and tasty. We have driven past this restaurant a million times and always said we wanted to try it. We finally tried it and were very pleased. We had to wait for a table, but it wasn't long at all. The restaurant is not huge, but they've done a nice job laying out the seating withthe space they have. We started off with 2 cups of coffee. The coffee wasnt bad, but not the best either. It was a light/medium roast...would have been better if they offered a darker roast. My husband ordered the Greek skillet with nutty pancakes. He was thoroughly pleased with his meal. I had a few bites of it and thought it was so flavorful! I ordered a special that came with eggs, sausage, bacon and 2 mini waffles. They served the syrup in a heavy mini cast iron pot. It kept the syrup nice and warm! The waffles were delicious! The best I've had in a long time. The bacon was thick and perfectly cooked! The service was very nice. The restaurant was very clean. The food was delivered fast! We definitely plan to return to Jam and Jelly Cafe again soon! We highly recommend it. read more

this place is the worst food place I have ever been to and I'm not coming back after this day. Right after I left I started to feel nauseous and sick. My French toast was dry and nasty and the syrup had a plasic wrap in it and it fell onto my dry French toast. I feel sick to my stomach and I have to shit. JnJ has a fun mix of pancakes and french toast traditional as well as funky the Banana bread French toast is a standout as well as their Fruit Crepes also the make great Eggs Benedict as well as other poached options....I've never had a bad item...But today the Skillet Special was just so damn good! Went here for the first time and it hit the spot. The food was great. We also got the turtle something pancakes which were delicious. The OJ was fresh squeezed, so you know it's a good place right off the bat. My only complaint would be that the "large" OJ was really not large. The food is good. Somewhat bland. We salted the peppered the food quite a bit. There are a lot of choices and something for everyone. They have gluten free pancakes too. Our server was pleasant. We stood there for a minute. Don't fret! She returned and asked how many. I assumed she meant people in our party. We were unceremoniously handed a number ticket. I asked how long was the wait. Ten minutes and they kept their promise. We were seated. A hostess picked up and took a coffee cup off our table. Weeeird. Then a chair was taken without a word. Weirder. Our menus were taken without our orders having been placed. Our server thought the orders were taken but oops nope. Even the server seemed confused. I have yet to dine in at this restaurant but I recently ordered breakfast for carry out and was very impressed with the quality of the food and the ease of ordering over the phone. That being said, their online ordering was not working and I was a bit frustrated with their website for that reason, also the phone numbers for their locations are mixed up. I meant to call the location in Darien and tapped the phone number listed under that location on the website and somehow called the Woodridge location.
