Pansit (Noodles), white rice, & Longaniza
    Lloyd C.

Jam's Kitchen is located in the shopping plaza with Cardena's, Duc Huong, McDonald's, etc. Loads of parking in this plaza. So, no problem there. Small Hole-in-the-wall restaurant with a lot of heart serving Filipino cuisine. I got their combo plate that had Pansit (Noodles), white rice, & Longaniza. The noodles had a good flavor of peppery yet soft noodles. The longaniza sausage was plump, slightly sweet and juicy. Don't forget the chili/garlic vinegar for dipping or to pour over your rice. The service was friendly, welcoming, and helpful! Overall, 3.5 stars. I'll be back to try their other dishes.

We have a new champion of Filipino food in the South Bay, and I'm happy to report that it's within walking distance of my house. Fil-Am East Siders rejoice! Jan's Kitchen is a small joint located in the old Kohl's / K-Mart plaza on McKee. Yeah, it's a 24-Hour Fitness now, but I don't care. Bring back K-Mart. Anyway, again, the place is small. I don't come here to eat. I come here to order a la carte items and bring them home. I haven't tried everything yet, but everything I've had is good. Sisig - Solid. When I first had it, they didn't do much as far texture or spices. It was flat and flat. Now, it actually does have various chilis and onions to add better texture to it. Kalesa is the king, but this isn't bad. Dinakdakan - Amazing. They use real pigs' brain too. Not mayo. Caldereta - Also amazing. The chunks of beef melt in your mouth and the use liver pate to thicken the sauce. Chicharron Bulaklak - HUGE. Not much to say other than the fact that it's so good but so bad for you. Pinapaitan - There is SOME bitterness but after a few bites; it's gone. Probably the best version I've had at a restaurant. Lechon Kawali - Solid. You can't really mess this up. Kasava Cake - Good. Not too sweet. Puto Pack - Good. Not too sweet. This Christmas I'm making a big order. If I don't figure out how to cook Filipino food on my own, this place will be the spot whenever I need it. The prices are definitely not "cheap" but they're really fair especially compared to a lot of other places in the Bay Area.

Another good find by my boyfriend! He frequents this area for his haircut and spotted this Filipino restaurant. He, one day, came home with a to-go order of their sisig and adobo and I've been obsessed since! This is the second time he's ordered there and we have not been disappointed. This place definitely reminds me of home.

You never fail. Ang SARAP!!! I'm here almost every week. The food is quality. It really is one of the best Filipino food place here in the Bay Area. Tara na...

Tray not what we ordered, and food was cold.

Bottom layer is all cabbage. Small tray not worth $178.22 . I felt duped for very little meat only shown on top layer and all cabbage thick layer on bottom. Place is small but not a place I recommend at all. Wish I could say one good thing about this place or even the young guy that helped us out (he was rude and no help).

Kaldereta, Sisig and Half Rice + Half Pancit

We finally had the chance to try Jam's Kitchen this week and the food is amazing!! For a combo plate of two viands + pancit or rice (or half/half) at $13, it was not bad at all! The portions were enough for leftovers!! - Kaldereta - their best seller and it's no wonder why! - Sisig - yummo! - Lechon Belly - tender chunks of pork yumminess - Laing - close to what my Bicolano mom makes!! - Bistek: a bit salty but it was good - Pancit - delish! The lady behind the counter was so nice when I inquired about catering. She even let me taste Dinakdakan since I've never had it before! We'll definitely be back to order for our party in a few weeks!! Oh, and grab a halo halo for dessert too!

Before you knew it, tables were filling up with families out to celebrate or post-church. The decor is fun, lots to look at and they have games at the table. We were given a menu and some cold water and soon after, someone came to take our order. We got the crispy pata with rice and egg, and also another two meat combo. The sisig was amazing, melt in your mouth and flavorful albeit a bit salty. They ran out of the cantaloupe drink which made me sad because thats one of my favorites, but I got a calamansi drink instead and that was refreshing and cold which was perfectly paired with the fairly fatty and dense crispy pata. The pickled cucumbers on the side are a perfect addition to the salty meat. Overall, good experience! Garlic rice could've been a tad more flavorful in my opinion but other than that, delicious.

Longanisa- sweet pork sausage; came with 3 pieces. Wish they were grilled. Seemed like just boiled. Juicy but not too fatty. Fried Chicken - crispy thin skin. Had a funny taste to it. Not sure if it's their seasoning or the chicken was freezer burnt. Lechon Kawali - this was the best meat in the combo. Crunchy fried outside but juicy at the same time. Good ratio of fat to meat. Yummy. Garlic rice was not oily and good serving size. Also had 2 over medium eggs. Came with pickled cucumber in sweet vinegar brine. Also came with 3 dips: ketchup, vinegar and the sweet peppery lechon sauce. Cost $30. Nice staff. 3 Stars then and now.

We called in on a Monday night, no hassle, no need to book an appointment for the party of 12 people, less hassle. One note, for people more than 6 people, you are being charged for service fee (so watch out). Secondly, cause we are regulars here, the food we had now is not as good as flavorful as we had before. Was excited to find out another Filipino business taking over. I've had my fair share of tusok-tusok experiences in California and I mean it when I say that I am happy this place opened up. I think prices are pretty fair for a bbq stick in the Bay Area. They carry pork bbq, hot dogs, intestine, kwek-kwek, bettamax, pig ears, etc! Although I wish they had fishball or squid ball for even more variety but thats ok. They provide a marinade to brush on while you grill your own BBQ and provide vinegar and another sweet sauce for you to dip it in post-grilling. Overall, the flavor is really good and you can't really go wrong. They carry other items on the menu in which they serve to you such as sisig, pares, siaomai, empanada (available weekends only), lumpia, melon juice, etc. And yes they have rice! I wish I took pictures of the food we ordered but the kids got to it first while we were bbqing. We went on a Thursday evening so it wasn't too crowded but they still kept the party going with karaoke and music. I could imagine the place being full on weekends. The parking could also get tricky in that area if full too. They take cash, Zelle, and card (with surcharge). The grill is located inside in the center of the restaurant so it gets pretty smoky inside even with all the doors open and vents running. So expect to smell like delicious bbq coming out lol.

Looking at the food trays in the display case when I arrived, they even had pork bbq skewers available, and this is around 5pm on a Sunday. That's rare for filipino eateries in or around the south bay. Service was standard and sufficient, and everything was packed and ready to go in just 10 minutes. The food items I got were a bit dry, particularly with a lack of sauce in the beefsteak dish, and the sisig was slightly mushy. But there was no shortage of flavor, and the portions were large enough to last for at least two separate meals. No dine-in seating at this spot. It was more like a convenience store inside, but a filipino one that serves hot food items in the back.
