James Coffee is a small independently owned coffee place with a few locations throughout San Diego. This location took over the old Archer Arrow coffee place, and I'm so glad they're nearby!! The house-made chai latte ($6.50) is creamy and smooth. Perfect for an afternoon pick me up. The cortado was perfect! Strong yet subtly sweet and the perfect way to wake up on a Monday morning. +$1 for milk / dairy substitutes (oat and almond) $19.99 for a bag of beans (12 oz). Comes with free drip coffee. The person behind the counter was super sweet and friendly; she answered all my questions. She even gave me a heads up of what they were out of in advance before coming to the register to place my order. I'll be back for a good ol latte in the next few days. The night owl espresso roast always hits the spot (bold with the subtle chocolate taste)!

Hi, this is the first time I've visited this place and it was very disappointing. The customer service was excellent and the coffee was good too, but the food was terrible. The avocado was awful, the bread was hard, and the tomato looked like it had been put on whole. Honestly, I don't recommend it. I felt like I almost broke my teeth on the bread. Oh my God, and the limousines they provided were the worst, everything was ruined.

    How is this avocado toast?

The coffee was good enough. But then I got my avocado toast... terrible avocado spread on un-toasted bread and a couple slices of tomato- $11 plus I paid an extra $2.50 for the hard boiled egg. I couldn't get past one bite. My husband ate only half of his subpar $14 breakfast bagel that came with a microwaved square egg patty. If you need coffee then you're ok. Don't get anything to eat. It should not be on the menu of a coffee shop if it's not as good as gas station food.

Dear Yelp Community, Welcomes to Vista, James Coffee Co.! Glad that a coffee shop remains in this commercial space, which is part of a mixed use building with housing located in the historic/old downtown area of Vista. Friendly staff, and will take the time to provide personalized service. Fresh industrial interior design, with indoor and outdoor seating. Great drink presentation (I ordered an espresso with a touch of milk). Continued well wishes. Sincerely, Anna

The coffee was great and the service was super fast. I got the rancher drink and it was super good. Would definitely go again.

Great coffee and great service. They have free WiFi and nice outside seating available. Good for bigger groups too.

I went up politely and asked if something could be done, and they told me they recently changed oatmilk. Totally fair, and I understand the barista followed the process. But since I genuinely didn't like the drink, I asked if they could replace it with something else. They said they could, but I'd have to pay again. It wasn't about the money for me, it just didn't feel like great customer service, especially as someone who comes there often. Just sharing my experience.

I was a little confused when Waze led me to an office parking area where I spotted an umbrella and what looked like a coffee stand. Undeterred, I parked and ventured over. It was the most unique, unusual and memorable coffee experience I've ever had. This place is for true coffee and espresso aficionados. The man working the kiosk referred to the place as a wine bar for coffee as the coffee is prepared, discussed and poured the same way fine wine is. If you love Starbucks, do not go here! If you love thoughtfully and artfully well prepared single Origen coffee, this place should not be missed. Ideally, the coffee should be ordered, prepared and consumed without dairy products so that you truly taste, experience and enjoy all the flavors. Ideally, it would be best to purchase a pour over, and they have a menu dedicated to them. It should be on every coffee and espresso addicts must go to list. I highly recommend it and I'm excited to enjoy the beans I bought at home.

During the time we went, 10:30am on Monday, there were plenty of parking all around the building where it is located. And only a couple people in the seating area by the koi pond. It was so quiet and peaceful. Only the sound of water pouring into the pond. A family owned business, Reuben the owner, knows his craft. He is so kind to explain all the variations of the pour-over menu items and we definitely tasted what we happily expected. Their coffees are SO good!! And the matcha latte surpassed my daughter's expectations and LOVED her drink. Perfectly balanced. Reuben's daughter, Paola, working with him, was equally friendly and helpful with the other menu items as well. We tried the jalapeño ham & cheddar croissant & the ham & swiss croissant, both were toasted in a panini press. Delicious! And the chocolate chip cookie, lightly salted. SO thick & good! Overall, it was a great experience. Not a huge menu but quality items. It's definitely top notch and we're going back!! Also I might add, they're only open til 2:00pm on the weekdays, closed at this location on the weekends because they're at farmer's markets.
