To start off the experience, the stylist showed up 20 minutes late to my appointment. (Maybe it was my fault for booking a 9:00 am appointment). She sat me down, asked me "what are we thinking?". No acknowledgment to making me wait, and not once through the whole appointment did she try to engage in conversation with me. When we were done she looked up from the computer and said "ok have a good day Veronica".... My name is not Veronica. This was the most impersonal experience I have ever had in a salon, and I have never felt so uncomfortable. I got a wash, cut and dry which I paid $70 for plus tip, which I will never do again here. The only upside of this place is the other stylist who had welcomed me, was very kind and made up for the stylist I hads lack of personality. read more

Would rate this experience 0 stars if I could. I went in there looking to go a little lighter. I booked my appointment online.. I go in at 10 am and as soon as I sit down the stylist told me she wouldn't be talking so she could just get straight to work on my hair--no biggie. I wanted a balayage previous to what I already had on my hair. She bleached my whole head, rushed through it to get to her next client.. had the assistant wash and blow dry my hair, didn't put any product in my hair at all. My hair is now a horrendous orangey yellow color and I'm wondering how she let me walk out of the salon looking like this. I felt rushed, not well taken care of, and now extremely ugly. Went to the Colony Place location for a cut and blow dry. It was good. Went back 6 weeks later for the same thing. It was good again. However, the second time I paid cash for a $70 cut and blow dry. I handed the cashier/receptionist four $20 bills ($80), and told her there were 4 $20s. In the meantime I put a cash tip in an envelope for the stylist. Receptionist put the $80 in the drawer, closed it, and with a big smile and without giving me my change, she said "Thank you!" I was so taken aback by this. Did she think I was tipping her $10? I was trying to process what was going on here, and didn't know what to say. I wondered, "do people usually tip the receptionist and do they tip her $10?" Because I didn't want to look like a cheapskate, I simply left. I've never been back because of this. read more

Highly recommend Victoria. She cut my hair last night and did a fabulous job. Absolutely no morning after regrets for me! I went from drab, long, boring hair to a stylish, just above the shoulders, angled bob. We talked about what I was hoping for and she was able to give me some great guidance without being pushy, and delivered the perfect cut. I felt like she really listened to me. The first thing any hairdresser says when I sit down in their chair is, "Wow! You have so much hair!" Victoria took the time necessary to cut my insanely thick hair properly. When I run my fingers through it, it falls beautifully. And she did this without being familiar with my head of hair at all as this was my first time in. I'm amazed. I actually live in the Pacific Northwest and decided to chop my hair on a whim while in Plymouth visiting family. Very happy with my choice. Finally a Boston quality salon on the South Shore. When I was in college, I went to the Newbury street location. The Plymouth location is just as fab! I wanted to try something new with my hair after quarantine so I decided to go with this place because all of my friends love it. I got highlights and a haircut by Jess, and it was amazing. She knew exactly what to do to flatter my natural hair color and skin tone. I would trust her enough to sit in her chair and say, 'surprise me!' and I know I would not be disappointed. I am so lucky to have made an appointment with this place! They saved my life! I needed a color correction desperately on a Friday afternoon and Allie was able to squeeze me in as her last appointment of the day. My hair was in bad shape and I was so embarrassed I had been crying all day. She assessed the situated and gave me my options and I totally trusted her. She didn't have enough time to get me where I wanted to be before the salon closed but she was able to even squeeze me in to finish the next day before my I had an important engagement. Jen was amazing. The salon was beautiful and clean. The receptionist friendly. I had heavily dyed hair and jen was upfront telling she wasn't sure that she could get the exact blonde I wanted due to all the dye in my hair but that she would try her best. And that she did! Made appt because of advertised charity event. Went in less than 30 minutes later, and my daughters and I had own hair cut. Kids had Kayla, who was charming, but only okay with their cuts. I had Melissa, who gave me the best haircut I have had in my entire life. She looked at the photos I showed her, talked to me about my hair texture and routine, and then asked permission to cut what she thought would look best on me. I had highlights put in at a different salon and it looked brassy, I tried to tone it myself and then it turned ashy and brassy. I called James Joseph salon and they quickly fit me in with Heather. I had never been to the salon before so I was a little nervous going in. I explained to Heather what happened and she explained exactly how she would fix it and not to worry. I immediately felt confident in her abilities and she went to work. She put in partial highlights to brighten up the weird ashy color, gave me a clarifying treatment and toned it. She started to blow dry and I could tell right away she had made my hair look fabulous. I am writing this the day after I went in and I washed and styled it myself today and I am so impressed. I received compliments and my hair feels healthy again :) I would highly recommend Heather and will definitely be a returning customer. She was really easy to talk to and never made me feel rushed! I have found my salon, and I have finally found a stylist who completely understands me. Maree Perrotta is the absolute BEST! She knows how to cut hair, she listened to my needs & wants, and never made me feel uncomfortable. She gave me an amazing cut & style! I will be going back to Maree! The salon itself is very clean, modern, and comfortable. Upon checking in, they offer tea, coffee, or water infused w/ fruit. Everyone is very kind and personable. Maree never pushed any products on me, but I did go home with a couple of products she used because I truly liked the results. She never tried to get me to purchase something I didn't need. I felt completely respected and taken care of. Can't wait to go back and have Maree color and highlight my hair! Went in for a mens haircut, understanding that it would be minimum 55$. Haircut lasted about 30 minutes, mostly a trim, nothing crazy, to find out the grand total was 75$. I don't mind paying top dollar, but this was nothing special, I don't even dry my hair or comb it. Anyway, I didn't complain left a over the top tip and will never go back. If you are going to charge that type of money, the result should be very different from anything else you have experienced. read more

Melissa M. is as good as it gets when it comes to being a stylist. She is superb at everything - color, cut, style - exactly what you want in a hairdresser! I had an awful experience at a salon in Boston where they legitimately burned my hair off. I work in Boston but the drive to Plymouth is nothing for the service and talent you get with Melissa. I went to see Melissa and she truly cared - she cut it so that I didn't have to lose a lot of length, taught me how to care for it, really observed it and basically saved my hair. Very disappointed, I have been looking for a salon to commit to and this is not it. The appointment process on line was easy so I was hopeful but on arriving at the salon 5 minutes early, I was offered coffee and a spot in the waiting area. Since I was new was not sure who the stylist was but woman came out looked at the book then went outside to chat, and possibly have a cigarette with the receptionist, leaving me to wait 10 minutes. She did come introduce herself lead me to her chair for the consult, which was okay. Then she lead me to the shampoo station, where she proceed to tell me about her life. About half way through the cut I relized I had heard all about her life but she asked no questions about me. The cut was just okay and given the price I was less than impressed even later in the day. Now 6 days have passed and I can tell you it is not a good cut and for the price it was a bad cut. I will call and cancel the next appointment I was politely forced to make. Unless you feel impressed by the name the place is not worth the money. read more

I scheduled an appointment for deep conditioning & blow out. While my hair was being washed, my stylist asked me if I was leaving with wet hair. I kinda flipped out, I had to be somewhere, but She said she didn't have time to dry my hair. I was really upset, so they tried accommodating by being extra nice, and she rushed through a blowdry. it looked worse than when I went in. It was nice that she tried, but The least they could have done is give me the blow out or deep conditioning service for free. the conditioning was $20 and still made me pay $40 to rush through a blow dry that did not look good at all. It ruined my entire day and was a stressful experience. Last time I was here I spent $200+ on an express keratin treatmet..not going back. They were Also disrespectful and rude (before making me upset and accommodating with being nice. Which should have been how they acted to begin with), made me feel like I couldn't afford the treatments and had no idea about anything hair-related. Don't go unless you're dressed looking wealthy and are mom age. read more
