If Guy Fieri has made a DDD appearance here, then you know you're in for something delicious, local, and full of flavor. I've been to Jammin' Crepes before, but my mom and I came here after a trip to the local farm to pick berries, and it was nice to get a good pick-me-up. First of all, the crepe options are endless, from sweet to savory, and all are made with ingredients from local farms and local suppliers, a de rigeuer practice in any Princeton establishment established over the last few years. Both my mom and I ended up ordering the turkey sausage, egg and cheese crepe at the counter, grabbed a number, and found seating. Service took about 20 minutes, which we didn't mind, since the place was so crowded. Price point isn't so bad either. The crepe itself was perfectly savory and packed FULL of eggs, sausage, and cheesy goodness. It was fresh, filling, and paired well with local, homemade ketchup. Such a cute place! There's a few tables and chairs outside, and inside there's a good amount of seating - more than I expected! You seat yourself and they bring your food out to you. I ordered the "Feelin' Peachy" sweet crepe and it was AMAZING! The crepe itself is so good that my mouth is watering as I'm writing this at home. They stuffed this baby full of warm cooked peaches, drizzled it with a raspberry jam sauce, and topped it with yummy whipped cream. Oh how I wish I could have one right now! I will be back here very soon. The prices are not bad at all either. I'd also like to point out that the staff was very friendly. The establishment was clean. They also have two single bathrooms. When you are done you clean off your table yourself and they have a section next to the trash for you to throw out food that can be made into compost - which I thought was so great! I needed a place to grab a bite before going to a concert at the Richardson Auditorium. They have a very central location, right in Downtown Princeton. I knew that I shouldn't expect quality because of the high rent they will be paying. Their crepes are different from what I used to eat in France. The dough feels a little too smooth and too processed. My French friends taught me how to make crepes when I was in France. Theirs were not the same either, and I like how I make them better. French people were not preparing the crepes. It just didn't feel authentic to me. I ordered the lemon crepes, and the description was different from what I received. You have to order at the counter and wait to be seated. I wasn't sure what that meant. I don't like waitress service when I just want a quick bite, and I'm by myself. But I am not sure that is the concept either. But 3 stars instead of 2 because the place is conveniently located, and it served its purpose to give me a quick bite before the show. Also tried the thumbprint cookies and very strongly recommend avoiding them. Savory crepes yes, baked goods not so much. Pros: fun filling ideas, great jams, supports local farms, really cute interior and good ambience, daily specials (available as long as supplies last = potentially more than one day!), sustainable - everything is recyclable/compostable, gluten free options Cons: crepes are a bit thick and dry, savory menu is very heavy on cheese, feels more like "wraps made with crepe batter" than "crepes" $10 credit card minimum The savory crepes here are around $10 and are very filling. I usually go for the breakfast items or the specials, which are often better than the permanent menu items (which often have too much cheese). A lot of the fillings are better in theory than in execution, e.g. ingredients often aren't evenly distributed or flavors aren't balanced, (some are way too salty) but usually the ones that have jam are good; there have been a lot of really great ones with peach cardamom or tomato peach jam this summer! The crepe themselves aren't anything special - they're made of wheat flour, are generally fairly thick and can be difficult to cut, the edges are often too dry, and the same crepe batter is used for both sweet and savory - the fillings are the main thing here. If you get a crepe to go, it comes in a cone so you can eat it without utensils. The really great thing about this is that it has a diagonal perforation that you can rip as you eat through your crepe instead of awkwardly pushing it up! The crepe cakes ($5/slice) come in several rotating flavors. Yes, they're actually 20 layers! It's not Lady M (these crepes are a bit soggy and thick), but they're not bad and are pretty fun to eat layer by layer. I think there are better options on the menu though. Many of the ingredients are sourced from local farms and orchards (there's a map of these on the wall), ice cream from Bent Spoon, and coffee from Small World. The coffee has consistently been too scaldingly hot when I've gotten it to go. It's often very crowded here, especially on weekends. The decor is rustic and cozy; the menu is written on a chalkboard, and the outside seating area has fresh flowers. I was taken here for brunch on my birthday last Saturday. The trip was about a 40 minute drive. Finding parking took around 5-7 minutes. We found a metered spot off a side street. The line to get in was only 3 people long so it wasn't too bad. There were roughly only 6 seats inside, they don't take reservations and outdoor seating is first come first serve and you have to bus your own table. It was 90° that day and the tables do not have umbrellas so it was really hot! There was nothing available to clean the table with so everything was sticky. They do not serve alcohol nor any fresh juices. I ordered the savory ham and cheese crepe. It was really good although it had a lot of the mustard sauce. My dining partner got a jelly filled crepe. It was good but mine was still better. Lol. We also got a lemon lavender crepe to share which was a bit sweet but good. Their crepes are on the thicker side but it didn't bother me much. I also had a iced almond milk latte which was ok but could have used a touch of sweetener (a smidge of simple syrup would have been perfect) but I didn't see any coffee related accoutrements anywhere. They had recycled napkins, wooden disposable cutlery and paper straws and plates but the cups and lids were still plastic. It would make my heart happy to see an alternative for that in the future. My guest wanted to get me a crepe cake but they need orders 48 hours in advance and don't sell any pre-made on site. Cute spot. Definitely check it out. read more

I went in expecting so much after reading all the reviews but alas it was just ok. The turkey crepe we tried was the best from the lot and the sweet potato crepe just fell short of the oomph. It was ok a good crepe but not there though. Flsvour was missing and had just too much cheese. The egg n soinach crepe was ok not bad, just a basic breakfast crepe. Smaller servings than I'm used to from the Crepeville back home in California but worth it for the phenomenal flavor and options. We got both savory and sweet options, as well as their mile high mille crepe cake and every single one delighted. The layers for the mille crepe cake were thicker and less even than the Japanese variety that I'm used to but that only made it more chunky and substantial and I loved it. We also picked up a jar of apple preserves and were not disappointed. I plan on coming back and bringing a friend from out of state soon and I can't wait to try something new -- and pick up some other interesting preserves. read more

Three of us visited Jammin Crepes for lunch. Very nice place with 1st come indoor and outdoor seating. For indoor dining you order at the counter and the food will be brought to you, they ask that you clean your table off when done. We ordered 3 different types of crepes, Smoky Apple & Brie, Chicken BLT and Hammin' Cheese Melty. They all look the same until you cut them open. All were very tasty, filling and fresh. The only thing we all didn't like was each crepe had a soggy bottom although the top was crispier. If the bottom was crispy than we would rate the crepes a five. We had business in Princeton, and I've been dying to try this place after seeing it on DDD, so we stopped here on our way. The restaurant is super cute, well decorated, and clean. You can definitely get the local sustainable vibe. We each got a coffee drink, and two crepes-one sweet, one savory. The crepes took a little while to come out, so be prepared to spend some time. They make everything fresh, so there is a bit of a wait. The savory crepe was brie, bacon, local jam, and arugula. So good! The perfect combo. It was also pretty filling so we probably could have gotten away with one crepe, but what's the fun in that? The sweet crepe we chose was the lemon apple. It was a bit underwhelming. Tasty for sure, but it needed something more. Maybe a creamy element? The crepes left something to be desired visually. Maybe the sweet ones could get sprinkled with powdered sugar. You wouldn't know which was which looking at them. We were a little disappointed when we found out the crepe cake wasn't available yet when we arrived. I really wanted to try that. We had a very enjoyable lunch yesterday - the food was excellent, the service was bright and cheery, and the dining room was a fun place to sit, enjoy the cool stuff on display everywhere, and people watch. There are big menu boards at the front of the store where you order at the counter. They give you a metal stand with a playing card, and your food comes out in a few minutes. Our three crepes were a Pizza Melty (Jersey pizza sauce, Mozzarella, and Parmesan Cheese) for $5.50, a Jammin' Turkey Club (Turkey breast, bacon, mozzarella, greens, chutney and horseradish aioli ($9.35), and for me a cup of pumpkin-tomato soup (a steep $5.50) and a Hammin' Cheese Melty (Black Forest Ham, Swiss, pickles, and mustard aioli) for $8.25. My lunch was excellent. Yes the soup was a little more than I expected to pay, but the taste was very good. I wasn't sure how well tomato and pumpkin would work together, but the soup was flavorful and tasted great. By the way, the soup came out piping hot just as soon as we sat down, so that showed me that the cooks and servers really pay attention to things. My crepe was exceptional as well. It was jam packed wit ham and cheese melted goodness and thinly sliced pickle spears wrapped up neatly inside a thin crepe. Lunch for three ran about thirty bucks and it was a good value. Having lunch here right now. We ordered Everything's Better With Bacon (EBWB), Hammin' Cheese Melty (HCM), Green Eggs & Ham (GEH) and Smoked Turkey Reuben (STR). For dessert, we tried Lemon & Lavender Crepe. The smoke house bacon on EBWB was sliced thick enough to blend its smokey taste with their seasonal micro-batch jam of the day, fresh baby arugula and creamy brie. The HCM's crêpe has freshly sliced Black Forest ham and melted Swiss cheese delicioso, blended well with their seasonal pickles & mustard aioli. The smoked applewood bacon, sliced in bits and pieces blended deliciously with smoked turkey in a multi grain crepe. They have two neutral gender bathrooms, with no changing table. Need an upgrade. I've been trying to get to this place for the last year and half since it's opening. Finally made it last week for lunch with some girlfriends. Between the crepes, fresh ingredients and the environmentally friendly mission, one can only want to support the success of this small business. The Crepes: I shared the Sweet Potato Creperito and the Health Nut with one of my friends. The Sweet Potato was out of this world. I would never expect a sweet potato based crepe to work, but combine it with black beans, scallions, some cheese and a cilantro cream sauce and you've got a winner on your hands. The health nut, on the other hand, was just ok. The granola combined with the peanut butter was a bit dry and didn't have the same melding of flavors that the sweet potato crepe possessed. It was kind of a "monotone" taste, for lack of a better word. Gluten Free: One of my friends is gluten intolerent, so it was nice to see that any crepe could be made gluten free for an extra $1.50. Fresh Ingredients: All the ingredients are sourced from local regional farms and they use organic whenever possible. Environmentally Friendly: They compost all their organic waste and recycle. This place has been one of my go-to brunch spots since it opened. Everytime I'm in the Princeton area I'll try to go! I usually the Everything is Better w/ Bacon and Jam but I sub out the bacon for turkey instead. I love that it has melted brie in it! For some reason I did find the turkey to be a bit dry this time. Overall, it was a good crepe but for some reason I didn't find it as good as I had remembered it to be. Seating was a nightmare though! A group of 4 of us got there, and all the indoor seats were just taken, so we told them that we'd sit outdoors. However as we walked outside, we found that the tables were all first come first serve and were all taken as well. By the time they brought out our crepes on plates, there weren't any tables open, so we didn't know what to do. We ended up asking them to box up our crepes and had to find another place on Princeton campus to eat them. The system is a bit weird... Maybe the tables outside should also work the same way they work inside so by the time you get your food you at least have a table. read more

We were looking for a place to eat after touring the Governor's mansion right down the street. Saw this place was less than a mile away and the online menu looked interesting. No table service, you order at the counter and then hope a table opens up while you're waiting for your food to be prepared. We ordered the Bahn Mi, Tomato White pizza, and the Better than Bacon items off of the menu. Of the three, the Bahn Mi was the best, but all three were underwhelming in a significant way. It was a shame that homemade jams, other farm fresh ingredients and nice portions could not overcome the density of the crepe and lack of "savory-ness" that we experienced. The fresh pesto-that was an ingredient in the Tomato White pie-had an off flavor that further hindered our finishing out plate. Lastly, I make and drink Green Tea everyday. The beverage we sipped had a color similar to Green Tea, but had the taste of water, no tea flavor as all. This place is surprisingly popular on weekends, pretty much so crowded that there aren't even any seats available. I've pretty much just accepted that it's not meant to be a traditional crepe place. Instead, it's primarily a local/organic/sustainable foods establishment, that happens to make crepes. So what you're getting is the local American health nut take on crepes, which you may or may not like. It ends up being more like a wrap, except if the wrap was replaced with a hefty crepe. I happen to actually like local American health nut food, but the crepes at Jammin' don't really cut it for me, even when using that criteria. I dislike all the sweet crepes I've tried - they're usually too sweet for me, and don't go well with the somewhat heftier crepe that they make at Jammin'. The savory crepes are better, but still hit or miss. I had a really good special crepe one day, that came with their pesto sauce, but unfortunately I haven't seen that crepe again. Other than that, their crepes are heavy on cheese and low on vegetables (surprising since they try to push the whole healthy aspect) and the only crepe I ever like getting on the regular menu is the Turkey Club. I understand all the love this place gets because it's a cute brunch spot that doesn't break the bank and has the perfect ambience for catching up with a friend. I just don't think the the food is all that great. Update: avoid their baked goods. Really a unique place, spin on the idea of crepes... like, they don't just have to be warm and drizzled in chocolate! This is a small joint on Nassau Street, just north of Princeton University, with a strong college vibe and a good atmosphere. There's seating outside and it is all first come, first serve. Seating inside is the same - you're expected to bus your own tables too so that traffic moves efficiently. It's different from most places in that regard, but it's really no big deal. Probably allows the restaurant to focus on throughput and keeping patrons moving. It can get busy so the order may take a while. Ours was about 20', but well worth it. There are breakfast crepes, traditional crepes, hot sandwich crepes, and your traditional dessert crepes. Prices are very reasonable and the staff is very friendly. Not sure what the hype is about. Friends and I visited before our walking tour of Princeton and we shared 3 kinds of crepes (classic cinnamon, apple, and lemon lavender). I thought they were ok, really nothing special considering you are paying $6+ for a piece of crepe with some cinnamon sugar, or mashed apples or some lemon and lavender. The food is delicious and arrives quickly, and there's something to be said for the transparency of the open-air kitchen. I've eaten and enjoyed both savory crepes and dessert crepes here, and they've been comparable to some of the best homemade crepes I've eaten. My only complaint, as with every business along this strip, is that they have a minuscule amount of real estate and huge demand. Tasty food and a fun vibe! I came here with a friend and it was very crowded, so we ended up sitting at a bar table facing the kitchen. There are definitely better spots, but it was still nice. I thought the interior was really cute, and the sitting area outside would be really nice in warm weather. I got the Green Eggs and Ham crepe, which had ham, egg, spinach, pesto, and cheese. It was delicious, and really fillings. It was a great brunch crepe, and the ingredients were fresh. There's a dedicated crepe place at my own school, but it has nowhere near as many crepe options as this does. We were waiting for family that we're coming to meet us there and they had never been there either. Dropped by for some breakfast about a month ago! The atmosphere is so cute and accommodating- even for being a tiny place. My friend and I are big crepe fans. We couldn't help ourselves and ordered both savory breakfast crepes as well as dessert crepes! It was way too much for food for us, so we enjoyed our dessert later on. I've been here twice for lunch and it has not disappointed. I usually like to try out different menu items every time, but I broke my 'rule' and got the veggie goat twice. They use local, farm-fresh ingredients and the crepe was chock full and very filling. A big plus is that they have a gluten free option! (Note the batter is made with normal white flour even for savory crepes and not buckwheat flour.) I remember the first time a friend told me about Jammin' Crepes a few years ago. I let him know I'm not a fan of crepes so I'll pass. Thankfully he was insistent and the rest has been history for me. Jammin' Crepes is not the typical crepe that comes to mind, these are something special! The crepe combinations are unique and thoughtful and all of the ingredients are locally sourced (or homemade), with the crepe options rotating as different ingredients go in and out of season. Their homemade jam is to die for! My favorite savory crepe is between the Turkey Reuben and the Veggie Goat and the Lemon Lavender is my favorite dessert crepe. My sister is a big fan of the Berries n' Creme when it's in season. My only words of advice: be prepared to wait for breakfast or lunch. This place gets crazy busy and there's not a ton of seating (or space really). They have a good system to keep the seating fair though. You order your crepe, put your name on a list, and they make your crepe when your table is available (so you don't have people holding tables or cutting in front of people that were waiting longer). Got the chicken cheesesteak savory crepe....totally bland and flavorless. From the pictures on Yelp you can tell the crepes are not crispy, so I specifically asked the person taking our order to make sure it would come out crispy. Being assured that it would be, I thought they would be diligent to ensure we had a good experience. We proceeded to order a variety of crepes and not only were our expectations crushed, we left disheartened, as each item had cold and soggy crepes.
