We decided to have dinner at a regular table instead of the hibachi table. My wife ordered the hibachi chicken and I got the teriyaki chicken. The hibachi chicken was a bit bland and didn't seem like a generous portion of protein. Finally Made it to Jana after them being open for almost 4 years now! The reason it took us so long was sense they also seemed to be on the pricier side but lucky every so often we would get a coupon in the mail for $25 off if you spend $75 or more (which isn't hard even with just 2) though it can't be used on Friday or Saturday but Sunday night hibachi dinner was calling our name. We arrived around 7 and had no problem getting seated. Our waitress took our drink order rather quickly and I went with the Raspberry Vodka Lemonade. It was nice a tart which I like and had a good kick to it as well. For my entrée I went with the Scallop combination with Beef. Now this hibachi does not come with noodles like many do so I added them for I what I believe was $4.65. Now you did get 2 shrimp with your hibachi as well so that is something. We went to order another drink but they told us the bartender had left early so all you could get was beer/wine or saki which was weird but we made it work. We of course did get soup and salad which our hibachi dinner both which were what you would expect. Our chef quickly got to work making everything. The veggies, fried rice, and noodles were good and you know I had to get extra of that Yum Yum Sauce. Our entree were then ready and my steak was cooked just about right. Maybe a little over done but that's to be expected. The scallops were cooked well which was good because they can be over cooked easily. I got 5 with my order but they were for sure on the thinner side. I will say for the price the servicing sizes where for sure on the small side from what I'm used to but I had been able since we actually sat at a hibachi table since this is the only one that gives for full experience in our area. We might be back since again it's the only in our area and if you get a group of people you will have a good time especially if your chef gets out the saki in a bottle and lets you see how many seconds you can do. (the number to beat is 23 seconds). I probably would not go without a coupon though just because of the price and the serving size. read more

I have eaten at Jana Steakhouse several times! Tonight didn't disappoint! Watching the chefs perform/cook the food at our table has always been fun. The show at Jana is usually entertaining, even when there are young kids at the table (who get scared of the flames.) Today's show wasn't overly exciting, tho. Seemed like the chef didn't really want to be at work. The atmosphere is usually pretty loud but tonight it wasn't bad at all.... We were there pretty early in the evening, tho. Maybe that's why ‍. The staff is always very attentive and all stay busy with their tables! Food is always delicious! Restaurant is always clean! I've never experienced a problem worse than having to ask for a refill. It's Saturday night, let's order some take out. I'm starving and craving hibachi. So I give the restaurant a call and place an order, I spoke with a very nice gentleman over the phone. I arrive at Jana and the restaurant is packed. Seeing as it's a Saturday night this was almost expected.... But the unexpected happened. I caught the attention of one of the staff members, who helped me with my order. I pay and I leave. FIRST mistake was driving all the way home without checking my food. A little insight on me, I'm allergic to shellfish and crustaceans. I open my to-go bag to the sweet surprise of two shrimps sitting atop my medium cooked steak. Can you imagine the amount of disappointment I have all while being hangry? I spent $33.98 ($7 tip, totaling $40.98) on something I cannot enjoy. I was hoping to eat and enjoy my Saturday night, but no I had to take two Benadryls and try to enjoy this plate of cross contamination. Don't worry the shrimp did not go to waste, my mother enjoyed those two shrimps. For an establishment that offers both shrimp and steak one would think they'd have the sense to double check the order before dropping two random shrimps atop an order that clearly states steak hibachi. The first time I dined in at this establishment a month ago there was a hair (clearly not my own, in case you were wondering) in my ginger salad, I didn't make a big deal I simply asked my server for another salad. The staff was very accommodating towards me after that and I was excited to return and try the hibachi again. But tonight really sealed the deal for me. We went to Jana's Steakhouse for our anniversary and had the pleasure of eating at Lucky's table. He's a great cook with a wonderful personality. The food we ate was delicious as well. So it is with great pleasure that I encourage anyone who wants delicious Teppanyaki food (Hibachi) and is traveling through Jacksonville(or if you are fortunate enough to live near Bertram Park and want to experience a delicious and entertaining night out), try Jana Steakhouse. The waitstaff was so accommodating; the server who brought our drinks was quick to correct a lemonade order with too much ice and brought us another one right away with no problem. Very kind and friendly as well! (She laughed at my husband's jokes;-). Most hibachi chefs have a very entertaining "shtick", and "Mike" was no exception--but when we started to get past the entertainment level, we found he was extremely knowledgeable about the culinary arts as well. Our steak was cooked to perfection (and good rare steak is "rarely" that!) It was seared on the outside, deep ruby red on the inside, and, as he showed us the trick to keeping steak juicy and well seasoned, he never stopped working on the food for the other guests at the table. My scallops tasted like LOBSTER, they were that good. The veggies were seasoned to perfection as well. What a delicious surprise for two exhausted travelers who just stopped there on our way to someplace else--but we WILL BE BACK--the next time we drive through Jacksonville. You know what's nice? An impromptu lunch out and Jana was relatively close to the house, and I'm always in the mood for Japanese food. Jana is a newer restaurant in the ever expanding Durbin area. We pulled into the parking lot and walked in. A hostess warmly greeted us and showed us to our table. This restaurant is beautiful and modern inside. The walls are decorated with wallpaper that's just super pretty. The interior is a lot larger than I anticipated (it's a bit misleading from the outside). They have one section that's is equipped with a bunch of booths and tables, a separate bar, then there's a sushi bar seating area, then there is a section of hibachi tables. The server came up to us and handed us menus. After looking over the menu (they have everything from sushi to hibachi to bento box lunch specials), I opted to get their teppanyaki lunch special (served with soup, salad, veggies, and fried rice). The soup was warm, salty, and delicious. The salad came out next and I liked the ginger dressing that tart and sweet. Then came out my lunch special. It was a pretty sizable portion for lunch. The chicken was moist and good, the fried rice was good, but I'll be honest I LOVE hibachi rice, mainly because of the crispy bits you get by cooking it on the flat top grill, unfortunately this rice didn't have any crispy bits, the veggies were cooked lovely and seasoned well. I really wanted to like this place but I think I just didn't have the greatest experience. Had trouble getting a second drink. In fact, the whole table was empty on their drinks. We were served all of our food before the server came back for refills. The smoke was bothersome. We clearly got the wrong seats at the table because we ended up getting a facial from the smoke. The chef kept saying the hood wasn't working right. I usually don't let that bother me, but we couldn't even lean forward to eat our food. Vegetables were bland and served last. Yummy sauce was watery. Ginger dressing was very watery and nothing like the ginger sauce they serve. I think prices are higher than other places around Jacksonville. Soup was good. Shrimp was good. I've been wanting to come here for a while now so I was excited when we had a chance to stop by for lunch. It was Sunday and just my husband and son. When we walked in there were only 6 other people in the hibachi area of the restaurant and they we're almost done with their meals. We were seated at our own hibachi table. Quickly ordered drinks (ps they only have Pepsi products). For food I ordered the Steak Hibachi and asked if I could substitute the Kani salad for the ginger but no. So I ordered an extra Kani salad. My husband ordered Steak and Chicken and we did a side of fried rice for our son. The soup and salad arrived and my Kani salad was HUGE for only 6.75 I expected a small salad. It was amazing. Better than the restaurants I usually order from. They added crunch to it which I've not seen before. I would return for the salad alone. It was spicy, perfect amount of cucumber and crab and the spicy mayo mmmm. The meal prep began shortly after and it was a great show for 3! We all had our chance in catching broccoli (only my son succeeded). The rice was wonderful really wonderful. Veggies like the norm, steak very good and cooked exactly as requested. No dessert and honestly we couldn't have eaten it if they had served. We were stuffed in the best way. Our drinks were filled and refilled throughout the meal without request. Overall a wonderful lunch. At $80 for 3 with so much more food than we could have consumed. If you go during the week there is a lunch price which would cut the cost considerably. read more

We had been here once before and weren't happy with the experience so when our friends decided to go for their birthday we hoped the experience would be better. The minute we arrived the "host" was very aggressive about getting our party on the list. The bar area near the entrance was very hot. We thought maybe it was because people kept going in and out, but once we were sat at the hibachi table it was even hotter. The sushi glass was filled with condensation and it was so warm we assumed their AC was broken. It was so hot for some of our friends they could barely eat. The drinks we had were good. Our server was very friendly but also seemed frantic and rushed. I was shocked at the prices for hibachi compared to other places we've been. The place was very full and loud since their tables are pretty close together. We watched some of the other shows at the table and they seemed to be doing a nice job. Food came out really quick and felt rushed. Then, the cook came out and started cooking all but the steak at once. At most places they start with the veggies and rice first, do a show, then move onto the meat. The whole dinner felt rushed and when we got our food it was just ok. The cook did t do half the other "show" things he did at the other tables. Scallops and chicken were a little undercooked and the steak was super chewy and very unseasoned. The portions here were much smaller compared to other places but the prices were much higher. Our friend also orders veggies without zucchini due to allergy and the cook completely forgot to cook her special order. Veggies weren't very cooked either. He did offer to cook them for her but by that point we were all ready to go. Overall, just really disappointed our friend didn't have a better experience and food wasn't better for the price we paid. We were regulars at Benihana's so were very bummed when found out there aren't any in this area. When we heard Jana's is a teppanyaki style restaurant we were excited to try. The chef we had was very friendly and entertaining, especially with the 2 younger kids in the other party. It was fun to see him squirt saki into the mouths of the adults (those who wanted it), and lemonade for the kids. The meal comes with all the usual-soup, salad, veggies, fried rice. My family and I had a nice Hibachi Dinner at Jana's. We went on Friday night at about 5pm, at that time we were seated immediately and there was only one other table open. We received very prompt service and thankfully they were very open to any customizations we had. Myself and hubs both had the Filet Mignon hibachi combo ( which by the way is only like a $1 more then the regular combo with sirloin!) he doesn't eat the veg so they allowed him a sub of double rice. My kids had the kids steak hibachi dinner. They mentioned if we didn't like the veg or rice we could sub out noodles, extra rice or any other variety which was really nice. After receiving our soup/salad the dinner show soon began. Our cook had a great personality and kept the entire table entertained. We noticed another table receiving showers of Saki during their show but that didn't come up at our table :( So maybe that's dependent on whoever you get?? The serving sizes were MASSIVE he kept adding on to our plates. Rice, then vegetables followed by the meats. The Filet was so well cooked, very tender and flavorful. One thing to point out they use a LOT of garlic. I love the stuff but to some it may be too much... We all loved our meals, even my pickiest kids. Enjoyed the show and service. My only complaint was at the end, another table was getting their dinner cooked and the SMELL OF OIL burning in the air got INTENSE! (That's why I deducted a star). I get super sensitive and had to walk away from my family while they finished up to get fresh air outside. We celebrated my daughter's bday at Jana Steakhouse. Being major sushi heads, we typically skip on the hibachi table and dine at a regular one. Since it was special occasion we decided to include the show! I called ahead for our party of 10, but they said they weren't taking reservations. We had about a 40min wait (it was the weekend after all). Luckily, the weather was nice and we were able to enjoy the courtyard outside. There are tables and a beautiful waterfall structure where we took the opportunity for family photos. When we were called and seated, our server was very pleasant. They allowed us to bring a homemade cake and she brought it to the back. The ambience is nice, lovely murals, a bar area, I didn't feel like it was noticeably smokey, I can hear other patrons having a good time. The hibachi experience was typical. You get everything on the checklist: onion volcano, "egg roll", shrimp toss, squirt bottle, etc. If you're not into an interactive dining experience, don't go there and act brand new! haha. I'm kidding, don't be afraid. You can opt out of fully participating. Our chef was playful and lively. They brought out the cake, candles lit, and sang happy bday. They still ended up bringing her complimentary fried ice cream as well.. um more dessert? Yes, please! Overall environment and service had high marks. The only thing that could use some improvement was the taste of the food. I feel like if you went there and ordered from the kitchen, or just got sushi it would be more flavorful. I did enjoy one sushi roll for an appetizer, you also get soup and salad. The portions were plentiful. Food from the hibachi table was just okay for me. Not bad at all, but just okay. From the start front Desk had an attitude no customer service, they looked like they didn't like their job, no smile not felt welcomed at all, first time there I believe that should be the first question they should ask so we can understand their policies of no sitting at the hibachi table until your whole party arrives, if you ask me that's a dumb rule you loosing money cause we could have gotten drinks that would run the tab up but that would take a different type of management, with that said this place looks out of place from the out side looks good but inside is very poor looking, you got Policies written on paper and taped on the walls, the ambiance is just awful, food was ok nothing special had better steak, had better shrimp, had better salmon, overall I was very disappointed, so unfortunate I will not recommend Jana Steakhouse to non of my friends and family. I went with my family on 10/11/24 to enjoy a habachi dinner, little did i know it was going to be the worst dinner experience. First i slipped and fell hard on a piece of brocolli on the floor, my knee still hurts. The lady tried to get me up off the floor super fast but i was in too much pain. I eventually sat down, no one came to check on me. My husband had to ask to speak to a manager about my fall. They took our order and chef came to do his show and cook, his performance was boring, not the fun i saw the other tables having and kur food was horrible. As soon as he was done they shoved our check in our face, they never refilled our drinks nor did they offer desert. I felt so mistreated after i fell, i felt like they wanted me gone and out of the resturant. I didnt even make a big deal abkut the fall. I did end up in urgent care the next day because my knee pain was so much. It has been 5 days and i still cant bend it fully or put weight on it bent. I recommend avoiding this place at all cost. read more
