Finally Made it to Jana after them being open for almost 4 years now! The reason it took us so long was sense they also seemed to be on the pricier side but lucky every so often we would get a coupon in the mail for $25 off if you spend $75 or more (which isn't hard even with just 2) though it can't be used on Friday or Saturday but Sunday night hibachi dinner was calling our name. We arrived around 7 and had no problem getting seated. Our waitress took our drink order rather quickly and I went with the Raspberry Vodka Lemonade. It was nice a tart which I like and had a good kick to it as well. For my entrée I went with the Scallop combination with Beef. Now this hibachi does not come with noodles like many do so I added them for I what I believe was $4.65. Now you did get 2 shrimp with your hibachi as well so that is something. We went to order another drink but they told us the bartender had left early so all you could get was beer/wine or saki which was weird but we made it work. We of course did get soup and salad which our hibachi dinner both which were what you would expect. Our chef quickly got to work making everything. The veggies, fried rice, and noodles were good and you know I had to get extra of that Yum Yum Sauce. Our entree were then ready and my steak was cooked just about right. Maybe a little over done but that's to be expected. The scallops were cooked well which was good because they can be over cooked easily. I got 5 with my order but they were for sure on the thinner side. I will say for the price the servicing sizes where for sure on the small side from what I'm used to but I had been able since we actually sat at a hibachi table since this is the only one that gives for full experience in our area. We might be back since again it's the only in our area and if you get a group of people you will have a good time especially if your chef gets out the saki in a bottle and lets you see how many seconds you can do. (the number to beat is 23 seconds). I probably would not go without a coupon though just because of the price and the serving size.

We had so much fun coming here for a family get together. The service was great and the food was phenomenal. The staff were all friendly and accommodating to our needs. We will be back more often, just the two of us and with the family!

Hibachi steak ... shrimp was not ordered.

It's Saturday night, let's order some take out. I'm starving and craving hibachi. So I give the restaurant a call and place an order, I spoke with a very nice gentleman over the phone. I arrive at Jana and the restaurant is packed. Seeing as it's a Saturday night this was almost expected.... But the unexpected happened. I caught the attention of one of the staff members, who helped me with my order. I pay and I leave. FIRST mistake was driving all the way home without checking my food. A little insight on me, I'm allergic to shellfish and crustaceans. I open my to-go bag to the sweet surprise of two shrimps sitting atop my medium cooked steak. Can you imagine the amount of disappointment I have all while being hangry? I spent $33.98 ($7 tip, totaling $40.98) on something I cannot enjoy. I was hoping to eat and enjoy my Saturday night, but no I had to take two Benadryls and try to enjoy this plate of cross contamination. Don't worry the shrimp did not go to waste, my mother enjoyed those two shrimps. For an establishment that offers both shrimp and steak one would think they'd have the sense to double check the order before dropping two random shrimps atop an order that clearly states steak hibachi. The first time I dined in at this establishment a month ago there was a hair (clearly not my own, in case you were wondering) in my ginger salad, I didn't make a big deal I simply asked my server for another salad. The staff was very accommodating towards me after that and I was excited to return and try the hibachi again. But tonight really sealed the deal for me. Thank you Jana Steakhouse for ruining my Saturday night and continuing to give me reasons to never return. Have the day you deserve.

The environment is really beautiful and comfy. Staff are friendly. Menu has a lot of option. We got a little upset about the combo, we ordered the filé mignon with chicken, it came a lot of rice, a lot of vegetables and but meat was a few, and a little expensive for what was served. But the gyoza and krab Rangoon was good. Overall a nice place to have some snacks.

Second ti.e here and we love every! Friendly staff, great food, and quite a nice atmosphere. The place was clean, no smell or smoke, and was not really busy on Monday evening.

We went to Jana's Steakhouse for our anniversary and had the pleasure of eating at Lucky's table. He's a great cook with a wonderful personality. The food we ate was delicious as well. We arrived at around 4:30 so we could enjoy dinner and around that time it wasn't very busy. Lucky kept the vibe pretty upbeat with his personality and charismatic nature. It's worth trying at least once, for sure, if you've never been.

We came without reservation on a Friday night and had to wait about 10 minutes, the wait for teppanyaki table was about 45 minutes. It was very smoky and a little hard to breathe at the space, but the food turned out good.

You know what's nice? An impromptu lunch out and Jana was relatively close to the house, and I'm always in the mood for Japanese food. Jana is a newer restaurant in the ever expanding Durbin area. We pulled into the parking lot and walked in. A hostess warmly greeted us and showed us to our table. This restaurant is beautiful and modern inside. The walls are decorated with wallpaper that's just super pretty. The interior is a lot larger than I anticipated (it's a bit misleading from the outside). They have one section that's is equipped with a bunch of booths and tables, a separate bar, then there's a sushi bar seating area, then there is a section of hibachi tables. The server came up to us and handed us menus. After looking over the menu (they have everything from sushi to hibachi to bento box lunch specials), I opted to get their teppanyaki lunch special (served with soup, salad, veggies, and fried rice). The soup was warm, salty, and delicious. The salad came out next and I liked the ginger dressing that tart and sweet. Then came out my lunch special. It was a pretty sizable portion for lunch. The chicken was moist and good, the fried rice was good, but I'll be honest I LOVE hibachi rice, mainly because of the crispy bits you get by cooking it on the flat top grill, unfortunately this rice didn't have any crispy bits, the veggies were cooked lovely and seasoned well. Pros: -Prices are reasonable for lunch -Portions are large -Service was quick and pleasant -Interior was beautiful -They have yum yum sauce and it was really good Cons: -I wish the rice had some crispy bits Tips: On the fence about coming here? Give it a whirl for lunch.

Server is extremely attentive regardless of the fact that they are not taking your order directly. As soon as I completed my order, I could hear it come through to the kitchen and the order being started. Food came out quick! Let me just talk about the takoyaki for a minute. These delicious little balls are epic. There's not a really fishy taste to them, but there are flakes of fish for the topping of these octopus balls. Perfectly crisp on the outside and gooey good on the inside. Honestly could just eat these and be in heaven. Good news, egg rolls are man finger sized. Bad news, you only get two per order. Nearly scarfed these crispy rolls down in one bite, they were so tasty. The main meals were kimchi fried rice and black tonkotsu ramen. I shared the ramen with a teen and we had just enough leftover for one more serving the next day. It's hearty and filling! The soft boiled egg was perfect! The pork was so tender, it could be broken up with chopsticks or a fork alone. Broth was perfection with a good umami flavor and a savory warmth. Corn was the pop of crunch needed. However, the kimchi fried rice was controversial for its flavor at our table. While some in the party liked the smoky flavor of the blackened rice, others felt it was too much and made the dish acrid. Didn't have a strong kimchi taste to any of us. Color was beautiful. Reheated ramen review: Flavor was great the next day; no loss in texture. Broth might have even been more savory the next day.

We've been dining here for more than two years, and every visit reminds us why it has earned a permanent place on our list of Favorite Tables Around Town. The atmosphere strikes a wonderful balance between upscale and comfortable. Whether you're planning a romantic date night, celebrating a special occasion, or simply craving exceptional sushi, Green Papaya delivers an experience that feels polished without ever feeling pretentious. We especially enjoy the side dining room, where the softer lighting creates an intimate setting that's perfect for lingering over dinner. We started this visit with the sampler appetizer, and it's one of the best ways to experience several favorites from the kitchen. The spring rolls were light and crispy, the coconut shrimp had just the right touch of sweetness, the chicken skewers were tender and flavorful, and the crab rangoon was rich, creamy, and perfectly fried. Susan couldn't pass up her favorite Tom Kha soup. If you enjoy bold flavors with a little heat, this soup is outstanding. The creamy coconut broth, fresh herbs, and spice create one of the most flavorful versions we've had anywhere. If you're sensitive to spice, just keep that in mind when ordering. Now let's talk about the sushi. As sushi lovers, we've worked our way through nearly every specialty roll on the menu over the years, and Green Papaya has never disappointed us. On this visit, the Tiger Roll earned one of our highest honors: our Best of the Best award. We don't hand that recognition out often. The Tiger Roll was beautifully presented and perfectly balanced. Every bite combined fresh fish, great texture, and layers of flavor that complemented each other instead of competing. It's the kind of roll you remember long after dinner is over and the one we'll recommend to anyone visiting for the first time. We also ordered the Tropical Roll with spicy scallops, mango, and white tuna. The sweetness of the mango softened the heat from the scallops beautifully, creating a combination that was refreshing, unique, and absolutely delicious. Service has always been friendly and attentive. One thing that makes Green Papaya a little different is the robot that helps deliver food throughout the restaurant. Our grandchildren absolutely love it, and it's always fun watching kids light up when it rolls by. For adults trying to enjoy a quiet conversation, it can occasionally be a little distracting, but it's certainly memorable and has become part of the restaurant's personality. Green Papaya isn't inexpensive, but quality sushi rarely is. The ingredients are fresh, the presentation is excellent, and the consistency keeps us coming back year after year. We'd much rather pay a little more for outstanding sushi than settle for something average. If you're looking for one of the best sushi restaurants in St. Johns, whether it's for date night, a celebration, or simply because you're craving outstanding sushi, Green Papaya deserves a visit. And when you go... Order the Tiger Roll. There's a reason it earned our Best of the Best award. You can also check out our photos to see why this has become one of our Favorite Tables Around Town.
