3.5 I attended a work event here. The rooftop is atop the Sonesta Hotel, however, the entrance is on the side,not on Lexington Avenue. The wait for the elevator is pretty long, so beware. When I made it upstairs, I noticed the place was pretty spacious. They have indoor and outdoor bars. In addition, ample seating on both sides. Our party was in the outside, which gave pretty decent views of the city. It was very crowded, so I could not fully get to enjoy the views. The food was okay, again, it was very crowded and hard to make it over. Toward the end of the built, they brought out Margarita pizza, which I was able to try. It was okay. The drinks were strong but one of the bartenders seemed to acting odd, as if we were being ignored or being picky on who he selected to serve. There was another bartender who was a little quicker, but the wait time was long. I did enjoy the event but don't think I'd return here. The views and service left a little to be desired. read more

We went at 7pm on Saturday this location seems busy on the weekends especially for the summer views so we waited about 15 mins for service to begin. The cocktails were cool I got two summer citrus forward drinks, no complaints. We tried the meatballs and pastrami wings to start. The meatballs were our preferred but the wings were okay I did like the Russian sauce but the wings itself could've used more flavor. My bf had the vintage burger he said it was solid. Food was average, the chicken sliders were crispy, the Caesar salad was a generous portion with tons of cheese, the Risotto was a bit heavy, coconut key lime pie was just ok and I really liked the watermelon basil lemonade. The view is nice. The service was inconsistent I believe from under staffing but the gal was working hard and kind. We checked in right on time and they didn't have the terrace seating we booked with the $50 a person requirement and they tried to put us inside but I insisted on our terrace booking and the manager then accommodated us and there were plenty of open tables but some were marked reserved but so was our reservation. Absolutely loved my experience here! The view was incredible, especially with the Empire State Building in the background as the sun was setting. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. What really made the experience stand out was the service. Yohareline, Juan, and Freddy were phenomenal! They were attentive, friendly, welcoming, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. Their service truly made us feel taken care of and added to the overall experience. This joint is located at the top of our hotel and you could feel the vibe before ever stepping off of the elevator. Great, loud music with a scenic view of the city. We were immediately greeted and sat, which was a welcome surprise. The food menu up here is small, as it should be, but the beer selection was very minimalist. So I decided Jamie W and I needed to celebrate in appropriate style during our weekend in NYC. At the same time, we wanted to be mindful of our caloric intake because alas, we're at that age. Just as important to acknowledge, we are hot weather wimps, so we didn't want to venture too far from our Midtown East hotel. Noticing this spot checked off all the boxes, I made a reservation little realizing how recently it had opened. Sure enough, it was just a 15-minute walk to the Shelburne Sonesta Hotel on Lexington in Murray Hill. The restaurant was up on the 16th floor, high enough to afford nice urban views including the Empire State (Photo 5) and Chrysler Buildings. The place felt like it was still trying to find its sea legs. People were looking a bit anxious waiting at the bar and in the reception area, but thanks to our reservation, we got seated fairly quickly on the patio. The setting sun was hitting our eyes, and before we said anything, the hostess reseated us under some shade. We appreciated the proactive move and decided celebratory cocktails were in order. Jamie had the $19 Mister Spicy, an ideal summertime libation with "frozen" ghost tequila, chinola mango, coconut, lime, and toasted coconut salt. I went for the $21 On Cloud Nine, a tantalizing mix of Grey Goose, combier rose, watermelon, and lime (Photo 7). Jamie and I kept it light and simple because gluttony was not an option. We split the $20 Margherita Pizza which we knew was a can't-miss choice with di Paolo mozzarella and San Marzano tomatoes (Photo 8). Our instincts proved to be correct. Each of us ordered an entree salad. Jamie went with the $16 Green Goddess Wedge where the baby iceberg was disassembled and combined with avocado, cucumber, and cherry tomatoes (Photo 9). It was gratefully without creamy blue cheese. I decided to have the $17 Waldorf Salad made with celery root, green grapes, apple, walnuts, and - guess what - the blue cheese that went missing on Jamie's wedges (Photo 10). Both salads were refreshing in the midst of the excessive humidity, just the right amount of food. Once finished, we took a stroll around the rooftop which was a lot more expansive than we had assumed. Definitely a New York State of Mind. First & foremost, this place is gorgeous, and I can see why it is so popular. If you come with a large group, I highly recommend reservations. If not, you're fine without, and can grab seat at the bar. Despite being very busy, I must say that Kim is a fantastic bartender. She is very attentive & kind- easily one of the best bartenders I've met. S/o to Vintage Green Rooftop for hiring some awesome staff! Second, the drinks are on the pricier end but 110% worth it. I had both of the cocktails on the "little heat" section of the menu. The Beetanical Garden was great but I couldn't really taste the limoncello. The Mister Spicy Frozen, however, was absolutely amazing. You could taste all of the ingredients in it & the sprinkles were a really cute touch. Third, I didn't have much of the food but I did try the buffalo chicken skillet. It was really good albeit I did wish there was more chicken. To mark my move to the city, I decided to celebrate the only way a modern adult truly can: perched atop a rooftop with a cocktail in one hand and an oyster in the other. Vintage Green Rooftop delivered the ambiance I was looking for--breezy, stylish, and just the right amount of sceney without needing to wear sequins to blend in. We sampled a wide spread, as one must when one is pretending this is a "special occasion" and not just a great excuse to try half the menu. The drinks were where the fun really bloomed. The rosé was fine--inoffensive, pretty, and exactly what you'd expect if wine could wear linen. But the flower-inspired cocktails? That's where things got interesting. I believe we tried the Lavender Field, which may or may not have come with its own personality. My friend found it a bit sweet, but I rather liked it. It tasted like what a child imagines a butterfly tastes like--floral, delicate, slightly magical, and just barely plausible. As for the food, it was a mixed bag--but a charming one. The oysters were, as ever, fabulous. Briny, fresh, and confidently placed on ice like little edible jewels. The mushroom bao bun, on the other hand, didn't win me over. Earthy and pillowy, yes, but not enough flavor to justify the bun real estate. The wagyu katsura sandwich was enjoyable, though it felt a bit like it had been translated for a western palate--rich and tender, but missing the bold edge you'd expect from something wagyu-adjacent. The avocado-miso chips were an unexpected hit. I definitely tasted the miso in the dip, which gave it a savory, almost fermented funkiness that played nicely with the creamy avocado. Weird? A little. Good? Definitely. The charcuterie board was...fine. Nothing revolutionary, but frankly, I'm not in the business of criticizing cheese and prosciutto when they show up and behave themselves. The view is what seals the deal. It's the kind of place that makes you remember, "Oh right, this is why people romanticize rooftops in New York." The staff was kind, attentive, and just the right amount of chatty without lingering like they were auditioning for a podcast. All in all, Vintage Green Rooftop is a delightful spot to raise a glass to new beginnings--or just to drink something floral and pretend your life is a French arthouse film for an hour or two. read more

We were fortunate to enjoy this scenic rooftop bar after a Broadway show this past weekend, and it didn't disappoint. We have 11:30pm reservations, and even though they ended up needing to close at midnight that evening, they still graciously accommodated us with a table by the window and bar service.
