This review is long overdue but my family and I have been going to Jan since 2015 with our maltipoo, Dusty. Before we went to Jan, he hated the groomer. He would growl and refuse to get out of the car and in general, he was not happy. We saw a total shift in demeanor with Jan. He still doesn't love his spa days but Jan was always so gentle with him and he mellowed out significantly under her care and he looks so cute, fluffy, and happy each time we pick him up. Jan has even pointed out new bumps and growths on him as he enters his senior years and I can't imagine Dusty's life without Jan. I'm not sure if she's still taking new clients but Jan has been an integral part of Dusty's care team and we are so grateful to her.

Looking so good with his haircut! I can see Mario's eyes, again and no more straggly hair all over his body! Just delightfully soft

Jan is so kind and talented! I brought my 5 month-old Whoodle puppy to her for his first professional haircut and grooming session. I never have had a dog who needs haircuts so this was a new experience for me. I shared my thoughts with Jan, in advance, along with a couple of pictures, letting her know what I tend to like, what I definitely want (straight column shape on legs) and do not want, as well... But I entrusted Jan to ultimately decide what style would look best on Mario - I'm SO glad I did! WOW! Mario looks fantastic!! What a handsome boy, now! He enjoyed his time with Jan, that was obvious. Mario was very relaxed there with her and Jan took her time with him and watched for any stress cues, making sure he had a good experience. I can't say enough good things about Jan! I'm thrilled to have found her and will absolutely continue bringing Mario back to her for his grooming sessions!! I HIGHLY recommend Jan's Gentle Paws

Jan is very sweet and a class act. Took our 6 month Dachshund boy who will not get his nails touched by ANYTHING. Texted Jan, she responded right away and got him in the next morning. She is a professional and very dedicated to the experience of the pup she's working with - it's just a genuine thing. She takes her time and keeps her cool and has all the right tools to do the job. Thank you Jan - from Kaipo!!

Fozi thanks you for your love and care always.

Jan is one of the kindest dog person you will ever meet. She has been very kind to my Fozi who is very difficult to deal with but she has been most patient & kind. You will never meet a more humane person. We spent over 10 years volunteering at the Irvine Animal Care center & she was always there to wash & bathe all the dogs to ensure that they are clean & presentable for adoption. Can't say enough of Jan's sweetness towards dogs.

HANDS DOWN THE BEST! I messaged Jan at the last minute, requesting to have a grooming done on our 7 month old maltipoo. Jan graciously took our pup, with very little notice. Her salon is clean, calm, and cozy. We knew we were leaving our girl in great hands! Upon picking her up, she was obviously comfortable in the environment and very comfortable with Jan, who has a calm and sweet demeanor herself. If you live anywhere in the OC, it is worth seeing Jan for her services. I was so grateful for her help, i had to give her a hug on the way out. We will be regular customers no doubt! Thank you again Jan

George after his grooming with Jan!

Reached out to Jan for a grooming of our 7-month old mini Aussie, George. It was his first grooming and after reading the great Yelp reviews I decided to make an appointment. George looks so beautiful and Jan knew just how to treat and cut his Aussie coat (not too short like I've seen other groomers do before with aussies)! George came out smelling great, beautiful clean paws/teeth/ears with an adorable bandana. Safe to say we found our groomer! Thanks Jan!!

Nice and clean and looking dapper with a new bandana!

My Puppers Solaire does not like baths or being groomed in anyway. He is very strong for a small Yorkie. There is no way anyone in a PetSmart or any establishment of this type capable of handling him. Found Jan through Yelp! and was not disappointed. She is a certified pet esthetician who uses only the best European products (purity of products) on your pet. The shampoo and conditioner she uses from Italy smells fresh and clean for days and leaves his coat extremely soft. My Puppers just love her though he still puts up a fight; she remains calm and gentle in handling him. She spends a good 2 hours with your pet during the scheduled spa/grooming service. Your pet will look dapper with a new bow tie or bandana when you pick him up. Jan's prices are very reasonable, too. If you're in the Irvine area looking for a special pet groomer for your special pet, Jan is your gal.

I've been going to Jan for more than two years now. I love it when she treats my dog with so much love! After trying a few groomers, I like Jan's haircut the most! The others would make my dog look like an old man with the new hair cut lol. But Jan makes my dog look like a darling cutie pie.

I've been looking for a place like this for my 3lb yorkie and I am so glad I found her on Yelp! My dog is so stressed and anxious after every grooming experience, that she usually hibernates for the next 2-3 days and becomes a little depressed. I think it is the fact that they put her in a cage to cage dry and she has to sit there for hours. I did a little research on Jan's website and saw that she donates her time at the local shelters and I loved that about her. I try to donate goods to my local shelter as well so I knew she was providing these services because she wants to, not because she needs to. ($$) I called Jan and booked an appointment for the same week, very difficult to do these days. Jan works out of her home so I was able to drop her off a little early and I got to see her set up. She had a dog already being groomed while Jan's dog watched her work. No other dogs waiting because she only takes one at a time! When it was time to pick her up, I saw that her garage door was open and my dog was on a long leash and she was just hanging out. She was tired but not anxious or stressed like she usually is. She was back to normal after her nap. Loved the experience and would definitely book her again!

Our Maltese, Cotton had his first grooming at Jan's last week. Jan showed and explained her equipment and how she grooms while Cotton got to know her dogs~ Cotton is a shy boy and he will shake so much every time he gets groomed but after Jan's he was fine! What a relief! Also there are no crates, dogs can freely play in her garage or backyard with her dogs before and after the grooming, which is nice. Thank you Jan!

    Cody can see now :)

Thank you Jan for grooming our trouble maker, Cody! He did great with you which means you're a great human because he's super picky and nervous! His cut was great and we (K9 Spirit) appreciate your support! We are excited we found an Irvine area groomer when we are in need!

Last year, we brought them frequently and always felt confident leaving them there. The staff was friendly and welcoming, the facility felt clean, and our dogs always seemed happy to be there. That's why it's so disappointing to see how much things have changed since the ownership transition. Since the change in ownership, we've noticed a significant decline in the overall experience. The staff no longer feels as friendly or approachable. While there are still a few kind employees, several team members come across as cold and unhelpful, making drop-off feel uncomfortable and even a bit intimidating. It no longer feels like the warm, welcoming environment it once was. We've also noticed the facility doesn't seem nearly as clean as it used to be. Our dogs consistently come home smelling strongly of urine after daycare. We occasionally check the live cameras throughout the day and frequently see urine sitting on the playroom floors for extended periods before being cleaned up. If messes in the common play areas are left unattended, it raises concerns about how often the kennels are being cleaned when the dogs are resting. Combined with the odor our dogs come home with, it has made us question the overall cleanliness of the facility. Another noticeable change is how little time our dogs now seem to spend in the play areas. We'll pay for a half-day of daycare, and by the time we pick them up, we're lucky if they've spent more than 30 minutes interacting with other dogs. The majority of their visit appears to be spent kenneled. We choose daycare because we want our dogs to have a safe, clean environment where they can socialize and play. If they're spending most of their visit in a kennel, it's difficult to justify paying for daycare when they could be comfortably resting at home in a cleaner environment for free. Customer service has also become frustrating. Recently, one of our dogs came home without his collar. We didn't realize it until we got home, so we called the facility and were told someone would call us back because they were too busy at the moment. We never received a callback. After calling several more times over the next few days without getting an answer, we ultimately had to drive to the facility ourselves just to ask about and retrieve the collar. Pickup has also become much slower than it used to be, often requiring a long wait before our dogs are brought out. We're genuinely disappointed because we loved this location for a long time and trusted the team with our pets. Unfortunately, since the ownership change, we've experienced a noticeable decline in cleanliness, customer service, and the overall level of care. We hope these concerns are taken seriously because we'd love to see this location return to the high standard that made us loyal customers in the first place.

Sometimes they even dress her up with a cute little bow~ There was a time while they were grooming her, they found a small scab on her body and immediately messaged me about it. It wasn't their fault actually, but it was because my dog was playing too rough with the two dogs we had at home. I do super appreciate that they reached out on this. Kawaii has been great about taking out any mats and camouflaging it as best as they can. We usually have a great laugh when we pick him up as he looks like he's heading to a job interview instead of his shaggy self. They've also been working on our Siberian cat who we didn't get groomed until we got our dog and he was gumming her up with his drool all the time. They've been great about preserving her coat and sending her back to us fluffy and clean. They definitely deliver a consistent product and have been very easy to work with.

I originally booked myself with a different stylist but was asked if I'd like to be rescheduled with a "golden doodle specialist." The caller seemed disheveled and stressed but I unfortunately paid it little mind. Great! My boy will look amazing after his trim. I came in with my shaggy but unmatted boy to get him cleaned up around the eyes and rump for hygiene, maybe paws as well. He is a puppy and should to be used to the groomer after all. Unfortunately, the stylist showed me what looked like velcro straps for the lengths with numbers. I didn't piece together very well how the lengths would translate to the dog. My last dog was a golden retriever with straight hair, not a golden doodle. I showed a picture from the same breeder, same breed. Just older. The stylist insisted it could not be done and went along and took my dog anyways. With a price of $100-$120, I was sure he'd turn out well I still gave the benefit of the doubt. I then waited ~3.5 hours for my pup to be finished. I expected it to take atleast two hours but since it was his first time, longer. So seemed on time. Surely the cut would be amazing Uhh... look at the pictures I can see some people liking this cut but I WAS NOT expecting what I got. I kept my composure but was very disappointed and shocked. If I wanted a shave, I'd have done it myself and saved $120. The salon at that time was also rather chaotic as the stylist's dog was barking and she said she would put him outside if he would not be quiet. Far too much for my young pup whose first professional grooming had been done here. I left without saying anything and decided to ask for a discount over email after my thoughts settled, but my partner called rather frustrated before I could. She was met with rather unprofessional comments. "It will grow back." "Your boyfriend didn't say anything." "It wasn't the same dog." "We can't do it." I made many mistakes. Lapse in my judgement by not reading red flags, not leaving after the stylist said she could not cut my dog the same way as the reference, and failing to see the customer service is severely lacking. TLDR - Tell them what you want and if they say they can't do it, leave. Do not use their velcro length suggestion. Do not bring young and anxious dogs here as their handling is meh. I do take responsibility as I heard afterwards that this is a common occurrence with Goldendoodles

That changed this last time the owners sold the company and the new owners took over, as things have definitely gone downhill, which brings me to this review specifically. This past Thursday, July 2nd, I swung by Paw Sweet Paw on my way home to pick up my dog, since my wife dropped her off for a half day. I told the young lady at the front I was here to pick up Boba, and she said, "I'll be right back with Boba."I waited for 15 minutes for her to return, and when she did, she did not have my dog with her, and she stated something like, "they are in the process of moving the dogs". Some more time goes by, and a manager walks by, and I am livid by this point, and I said, "Where is my flippin dog, although I didn't use flippin. She said, " Please hold on for one minute and she walked away and went upstairs. By this point, it had been a half hour, and not to mention there was another gentleman there to drop off his dog, and he had been waiting 15 minutes. When I opened up the gate and was proceeding to walk back, the manager came walking down the steps, and again, I said Where the _ _ _ _ _ _ _ HELL is my dog, to which she replied, I don't know how to tell you this, but WE GAVE YOUR DOG TO THE WRONG PERSON. Needless to say, I lost it, and I said, how the hell is that even POSSIBLE on your end, let alone the person that took my dog home. Who the hell picks up their dog and realizes that this is not my dog and takes it home?????? The Manager said that somehow either she lost her paper collar or someone neglected to read the name on the collar and handed her off to another staff member, and they are the ones that gave her to the wrong owner.....When the new owners of Paw Sweet Paw took over, they implemented this paper tag collar policy, and when you check your dog in, they take the regular collars off of the dog and put a paper collar on the dog. I think it is absolutely ridiculous, but somehow, they believe it's to protect the dogs in case they get in a fight or something, to which I still don't understand. By this point, I cannot even see straight, and I am basically yelling at the Manager as to where my dog is and who the hell is going to get her. She said, "I just spoke to the owner, and I am driving to her house right now to get Boba." The lady that took my dog had two dogs, so as the manager was leaving, I said You might want to go back and get her dog..... She said it would take her about 15 minutes to get to the lady's house and 15 minutes back. Finally, after well over an hour, I got my dog back!!!!!!.. Needless to say, she was extremely anxious and was panting very heavily all the way home, and her heart was racing as well. She finally settled down later that night.....I am not sure what dogs think, but I believe Boba might've been thinking she was being abandoned because she has never been anywhere except Paw Sweet Paw. All in all, I think it was about a 1.5-hour ordeal (nightmare). The Manager said she started 3 weeks ago, apologized profusely, and said she is going to rectify the problem so that it never happens again. She also said that the District Manager would be calling my wife, because by this time, my wife had come down as well. They did call later on that night from a blocked number and left a message with no number to call back. We're still waiting for her to call back. It really sucks because this is the only place we have ever taken Boba, and she actually likes it there cause she is not locked up all day and can play with other dogs. My dog is already anxious, so the idea of finding a new boarding place is less than desirable, but I might have no choice.
