I've tried to get into this restaurant several times in the past and always ran into a 45-60 minute wait. The reason is that the food is so good that they're always busy. We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. The stuffed french toast was delicious and one of the few restaurants in the area that used thick bread instead of just sandwich bread. My wife got a combination plate that included great link sausage and regular french toast. The servings were generous enough that we took leftovers home. The service was very quick and staff very friendly. I'm happy that we were finally able to get in and we'll definitely be back, especially when we have family visiting. read more

The owner is a jerk! Disrespectful and will never get my business. The manager Bridget left a gift card for us because of a previous bad experience. Burnt omelettes and a long gray hair in food. With a newborn getting out isn't always the easiest. Thus, when I went into dine I told them Bridget left me a gift card for $50 because of my experience last time. The owner (the old and rude guy) comes over telling me they aren't honoring it anymore because she no longer works for them. --And you should understand why I am so callus. At that point he wanted to argue with me. And I wasn't going to put forth any more energy with his negativity so we left and I will never return. read more

Hands down, the best breakfast I have had in Florida! Super friendly staff! Our waiter was great; he was more than happy to accommodate my special requests and even gave us a complimentary delicious pineapple coconut muffin because we were newbies! This is a sad day. My 1st bad review for "anyone". We are frequent customers of Jan's. We spend lots of money there. And today, I gained some insight into what Jan's is all about. It's not about great customer service folks, but about turning tables as quickly as possible. We were there a bit longer than usual while waiting for an oil change up the road. Our waitress, "Lisa"... She's a veteran there but has "0" personality. You will struggle to solicit a smile from her. We had to ask another waitress for refills on coffee and when asking for "to go" boxes, they brought us "one" to share. My husband asked for a second one and they brought him a "mini" box that wouldn't even hold his pancake. My husband asked kindly for another big box and that box came back to us with "attitude". At this point, I'm trying to keep a good attitude but then we started getting cross looks from wait staff and management as we sat there packing up to leave. What a restless and negative experience. Then to top it off... a manager walks to our table to announce that there was quite a wait outside... in other words "get out". We left Lisa a very good tip on a very high bill and we did confront Jan herself. Her response... We have a business to run and tables to fill. That's it folks. Jan's will get a "1" star today for "Great food".... that's it! Very disappointing. I try to be a very positive person and offer encouragement to people as much as possible but today I had to share truth. I'm very discouraged about this to say the least. Try Lure's. My parents love having brunch at Jan's Place! They have lots of food options - all kinds of egg benedicts, omelettes, pancakes, waffles, French toast, etc. whatever you want they have it! My recommendation is to have everyone at the table order different things so you can share and try it all. They also have mimosas, which is a must for a good brunch :) I'll keep coming back here every time I visit my parents! Also, order the biscuits - they're delicious! read more

I was there on opening day and this place was a breath of fresh air in the Jensen Beach area. The portions were huge IMO but shortly after things began to change first the portion sizes went down, then prices went up, then quality went down, then prices went up again! And a place that was a breath of fresh air in the area became the same old tourist trap by the water breakfast place that most of Florida is known for. The place is packed by nonlocals and the older brunch going crowd. While the locals that appreciate good food and great portions and price points go else where. I am not saying this place is inedible its just no longer what is use to be. Sad to see but I still wish them success. read more

Had to try this talked about breakfast spot. It had very helpful and friendly wait staff first thing. My $6.99 omelet was very tasty and came with hash browns and a English muffin. I thought the muffin was a little over cooked by the burned edges and my wife's busicuit was really dry. The food was good but not great. Some meals are on the expensive side and coffee was a $2.50 endless cup. I only drank 2 small cups. Overall a good place but be prepared for a $20-$30 bill. read more

Must for breakfast and lunch. Just reopened. It subleases from the Capitains Table which is only open for dinner, so be careful. Jan's is a long time local spot for great affordable breakfasts and lunches. It closed over a rent dispute, but has reopened. They don't have a sign out as of 2/20/09 but it on the north east corner of the traffic circle in the pink 2 story building. Food is great, service is great, meals are about $10. read more

The wife and I had breakfast here for the first time since they opened in this location. My Mexican omelet was outstanding, and my wife's California omelet was as well. We sat at the counter since the wait was 15mins. The service was terrific and if there was one negative, it was minor staff bickering within earshot of customers. Went in yesterday for brunch, my server was Chrystina. The food was great. We were asked if we wanted boxes immediately. We are on vacation and were just trying to enjoy the evening. After we received our food our server went missing, and needed to be helped by another server for refills. When she came back she smelled like an ashtray and it ruined my appetite. Friends, hollow out a leg and activate your extra stomach - - the portions are beyond generous . . .we had breakfast on a weekday morning after sunrise at the sea nearby and were bowled over by the choices and the amount of food. They have fried green tomatoes, y'all!!! Buttermilk dressing comes with. Deep fried green tomatoes . . .not sure I've ever had other than pan fried, and in spite of trying to avoid deep fried, I gobbled down 3 of the five crunchy, tart accompaniments (side order) to my smoked salmon omelet and English muffin and potatoes and fruit side. Coffee good and often refilled. BF ordered some creamy sauce smothered seafood Neptune thing, which I'd considered, but observed to be too ample. We could have/ should have shared that one . . .there is a bakery case (we resisted temptation, but it was tempting), outdoor seating on sidewalk, a local feel, friendly, prompt servers and good grub. We got here about 11 am on a Thursday morning and had to wait about 5 -10 minutes to be seated. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's very warm inside the restaurant. The service was okay, she never came back to fill op our waters. The menu had lots of options, so surely something for everyone. We ordered the Monte cristo egg benedict and I was disappointed. It sounded good when I ordered, but french toast as a basis for an egg benedict is just a bad idea. I ended up scraping the toppings off and eating the french toast by itself. The French toast combo was pretty good though, just as the menu states. I would go back because I want to try the mini cinnamon bun combo. read more

Be sure to get a slice of their loaf- a different baked daily (banana nut, blueberry, etc.). Jan's Place is located in a quaint strip of stores along the water in Jensen Beach, Florida. My friend and I had decided on this restaurant for late brunch, we sat inside despite the outdoor seating located in front of the store. The inside had an old-time, country diner style. With a glass case full of coffee cakes, pies, and pastries. The atmosphere was as warm and kind as the staff. Although it was a busy Saturday morning, we were greeted kindly by two hostesses and they took care of us right away. Our waitress was very attentive and kind. Our waters and coffees came out quickly and we never had to ask for her to refill them. I ordered the smoked salmon Benedict with hash browns and a side of french toast with a cup of coffee. I would rate the coffee a 5/10, it tasted watery and below average compared to the food. The Benedict came on a toasted bagel with cream cheese, topped with smoked salmon, a poached egg, smothered in hollandaise sauce with capers and red onion. The Benedict was 10/10 and I would drive the three and a half hours any morning to have it again. For a side I got crispy hash browns and golden brown french toast. All together it was heaping amount of delicious food for under $14. The value for the dollar amount exceeded my expectations. I loved everything about the restaurant from the beach crowd to the cinnamon butter on the french toast. The only thing I did not like or would change would be the coffee. The coffee needed to be stronger and hotter and everything about this experience would have been perfect. read more
