They have ghost shrimps for 4 for $1 which is a pretty good deal. The place is clean and the prices are reasonable. Plus they seems to have a pretty good selection of items. Let me start by saying how clean this store is!!! So with that being said they have a lot of things to fill your tank or pond with. I went looking for items for my fresh water tank. I was blown away by their prices for larger decorative items!!! I think the most expensive thing I saw was $100 for a large item...they have a variety of gravel in regards to colors. The fish looked very healthy, the tanks were clean. I did also notice their live coral tank....BEAUTIFUL!! I'll be back for sure!!!! read more

I visited this place after being told by Pet Smart the bulbs I needed for my aquarium did not exist anymore. I went in and asked if they had them - yes, of course they did. There is a lot of variety there and the staff were very helpful on how to best feed my fish and frogs. read more

This was my first time shopping at Jan's and I will admit, I was a bit hesitant on coming here based of the reviews I have read. But I also know how yelp can be nothing but a complaint box for customers to complain about petty stuff. I decided to give this place a try. I'm glad I did. The staff was super help and friendly. I was asked by several associates how I was doing and if I needed any help. The man working the counter was super helpful as I was asking him question on my new beta tank set up and he was such a big help and made some recommendations on how to cycle my new tank. My friend was with me as well and she had made a beta fish purchase and she loves her new fish. I have been shopping at Petco right across the way from them and I must say, for my aquatic needs. I will be going to Jan's instead from here on out! Petco doesn't nearly have the knowledge this place does, not the stock. Kudos to you all for being super helpful and giving great customer services. Do not go here if you want to have knowledgeable people tell you about fish. We got a fish tank a few months ago and asked the man that worked there which fish got along. We bought 5 fish from them. A black knife ghost, neon tetra, angelfish, plecostomus, and a ghost catfish. The ghost catfish died within a week, and after i did my own research found that they only do well with at least 5 of its own fish in the tank. The Black ghost knife then killed the other three fish in our tank. They also overcharged us. We had picked out fish that were labeled less than $10 each, and after we left saw that 2 of the fish were almost $20 each. They only want to make a sale, they dont know what they are doing. You go into a store like this trusting that the information they give you is correct and that they are experts in their field. They are not :( Now I have had 4 instances of supersadness with my children. I would never recommend this shop to anyone, prices are too high and staff doesnt know what they are selling :( read more

Great local fish store, very clean, very good selection of saltwater fish and exotics. Jan usually has your standards, clowns, damsels, etc but if you're a frequent customer you'll find she gets many of the rarer desirables : frog fish, dwarf lions, unusual fairy wrasses etc. Mediocre selection of corals not extensive but healthy. Been going here since it opened. They have a nice clean store and have alot to pick from in fresh n salt. As far as the salt they have your normal everyday fish. Very rare you find something odd that is the only draw back cause i am always looking for odd. But great store over all. read more

Starting out in the saltwater hobby is very confusing and the owners of this particular store gave me great advice that matched up with what many others online advised. Store is very clean and the fishes seem healthy. The store is not small so they have a good selection of lights, heaters, powerheads, etc... Most impressive thing to me was the extremely polite and knowledgeable service I got from two different people I spoke with. They also have a separate section for freshwater fish. The prices are a bit higher than I'd like but the tanks are the cleanest I've seen around the IE. Excellent selection of fresh and saltwater fish. I inquired about a nano cube siting on the floor collecting dust and WELL WELL overpriced, only to be shut down. Bought the same 28g cube www.drsfostersmith.com including stand for $150 less. I even mentioned the price hoping they'd at least make a reasonable counter. Realize the overhead but those tanks aren't going anywhere at those prices. At any rate, very nice staff and I will likely return. read more

Jan's Tropical Fish is a good looking store, lots of products, but at times it didn't feel as though I was in a fish store. But I will admit... it was very very clean... and that was awesome. Great place for aquarium enthusiasts in the Inland Empire area. They have a nice selection of fishes and inverts, along with planted section and sales on some of the aquarium supplies. They also take care to change out their betta cups frequently, and much of the fishes in the shop look healthy and happy, including the feeder fishes on the bottom. They also have the largest selection on bettas I have seen so far in the area. read more
