I normally enjoy my experience at the Japan Foot Spa but today put a sore taste in my mouth. My boyfriend and I stopped in to utilize our ionic foot soak we purchased from Groupon. There was no one at the front desk when we arrived (which was fine) so we sat and waited while we chatted. When we were finally greeted, the man was very rude to us. He asked if we had an appointment and we said no. He told us they were busy and we should come back when we make an appointment, which we understood. We were about to leave when he told us to hold on and begin setting up the ionic foot soak section. While he was setting up our section, my boyfriend asked if he could explain the process since it looks differently than we imagined and it was our first experience. He completely ignored his question and mentioned again how we need to make an appointment next time. I understand the inconvenience it might have caused him and we were more than willing to leave and come back another day. However professionalism goes a long way. Upon walking in, we were immediately shown to our room. They have huge reclining chairs for you to relax in while you get your foot reflexology massage and ionic foot detox. Ehh wish it was a lot better., I got a 30 min foot massage after careful deliberation . I wanted 60 mins but had a feeling it so did 30 in stead. It was very gruff and interrupted thus the score. She was just did feet (. Usually it's mainly feet and a bit of a tiny bit arms and neck. My massage sat me down at 3pm in water (. My feet were only in water for 30seconds really!) no soaking just a quick toe rinse. 3:01 she cleared it away and dealt with other people coming in and some other stuff. Came back to me at 3:10. Threw a blanket on me haphazardly. Noticed I was uncomfortable because chair back was straight up and laid me down. More people came in. She dealt with that again and then back and put eye thing on me at 3:14. Finally gloves on and started. Massage was rough. I asked for gentler and she fixed that. The movements were just l not very smooth and relaxing with lots of lotion. Then did massage on calf's and feet with exfoliating crème? That's a first for me. Left room. For a few mins again for people coming it. Then came back and ollowed up by Luke warm stones on feet and clean off exfoliation w towel. Light percussion and quick very disinterested stretch. Done at 3:43 I was glad I only got 30mins. I considered walking out after first 15 mins but didn't want to be rude either. Was hoping it would be good because I'm needing a good spot to come to. I came here after seeing the low prices online, with the intention of getting a combo massage with a foot focus. I booked online easily and was able to come within 2 hours of booking. After arriving, i upgraded from a 60 to a 75 minute after talking with the front desk, knowing that I could still tip over 20% with the cash I had. The massage was good, I liked that the masseuse massaged my head and spent extra time on my legs as I had requested. However, I asked at least 7 times to go firmer and she did not. So by the end I felt relaxed, although the knots and tiredness I was hoping to relieve did not get addressed. Afterwards, I tipped the lady and she looked angry and disappointed and told the front desk guy it was not enough. He pointed to a small sign in the back stating that my $55 massage required a $15 tip, which I was not aware of. If he had told me beforehand that there was a tip requirement, I would have just stuck with my 60 min instead of upgrading. So I had to run out to my car and scrounge for any extra cash I had. I think it's a good place for a decent massage, but just beware of their tip requirements which make the prices pretty comparable to other spas nearby. read more

My husband booked a massage for my Mother and I which was 75 mins combo full massage. We got the hot stones and the back scrub included in that package. The masseuse that I had kept asking "if it feels good, pressure ok" which I appreciate her asking. Some parts of the massage was painful especially near the spine but it was tolerable. The one thing that I don't like is they demand a tip. Tipping is not mandated but rather a gesture for the experience the customer received. I paid $102 ($51 per person) for the massages and handed the guy in the front a $ 20 and told him to give each masseuse a $10. He pointed to a laminated sign on the wall that for a 75 min massage would be a $15 tip was the minimum. $15 tip on a massage that cost $51 is about 30%! The massage was alright but for a 30% tip I'd expect to pay that at a luxurious spa on the strip or something. Also I question the cleanliness of the place. It's dark when you walk in so you can't even tell how clean the place is. The hole that they make you put your face into when they massage your back is very smelly by the way. I asked to skip scalp because I have tape in extensions. My massage started with my face, ears and chest and continued throughout my limbs front and COMPLETE back. First the parking, it's located in a strip mall with ample parking. I called several business but chose this place because when the guy answered the phone and replied to my questions, he was whispering like he actually cared about the noise level in the place! My daughter and I both had very good massages. We got the 60 minute combo (foot and back) for $56, plus tips. Our therapists were Yoyo and Amy, and both were pleasant and used good pressure. They were accommodating to our requests; for example, I wear a CGM and was concerned that that it'll get knocked off. I told the receptionist who told Amy, who was getting our foot bath ready, and Amy told Yoyo about it, so Yoyo made sure not to touch it. I also heard Amy remind her when she started working on my arms. At one point, I told Yoyo that I wanted more pressure, and she went deeper. This combo massage: You lie on your back w/all your clothes on, and w/your legs hanging off the table, they are placed in a lined bucket of water for about 20 minutes. While you are lying there, they massage your head, neck shoulders, and arms. Afterwards, they massage both of your legs and feet. Finally, they will ask you to take off your tops (as much/little as you want - if you want them to work through your clothes though, you may want to tell them) and lie face down as they leave the room. Once they return, they will massage your back with oil. Then they will rub some type of exfoliant on you and finally use the hot stones on it before wiping your back down for a couple of hot towels. Those hot stones and towels are HOT, so let them know ahead of time if you don't want or want it not so hot! The place was very quiet; there was music but no talking from other workers, which is sometimes a problem, so it was actually pretty relaxing for an Asian foot massage place. Once it's over, you get dressed, walk up to the front, and pay. I am not a big tipper, but with the care they put in, I tipped $14 (basically gave $70 for each of us). Went to treat my stiff neck and ask them to focus on it and Amy did incredible on how heavy she took out my knots and tightness. Did some hot stones and a scrub.
