Its has probably been nearly 20 years since I've been to Japanese Palace, so we thought it was high time for a family outing. They do not take reservations, so plan ahead. With two kids in tow, we showed up right at opening and had no issues getting a table. For those like me who have fond memories of coming to Japanese Palace as a kid, well you'll be happy to know this place hasn't changed one bit. Untouched by time. When so many cherished places and neighborhood staples lost these past few years, I think that's a great thing. I ordered the the Japanese Palace Special, which was probably the exact same thing I ordered in high school. Hard to beat a little of beef, chicken, and shrimp, cooked right in front of you. Of course, you go to a place like Japanese Palace for the show and that was on point as well. We all were pleased with the food and the kiddos thoroughly enjoyed the experience as well, albeit probably much to distracted to eat (yay leftovers!). My favorite is always the fried rice, which we had plenty of. Its nice to see that after all these years, Japanese Palace still providing great food and experiences. We do plan to be back and might even plan ahead and pop into their comfy bar for a Kirin or two before getting started. If you're like me and you can't remember since the last time you've been, its time again.

This is our second time coming here and it is so good! There is plenty of seating on the habachi side of the restaurant. The eggplant is one of our favorite parts of the meal. Both times we have come we have shared the Japanese Palace Special and fried rice. We added an extra order of zucchini, which was perfect but next time we will also add an extra order of eggplant. For our drinks, my husband ordered the hot sake and I ordered the mai tai, they were both delicious. The service was great, the cook was fantastic especially since we were alone at the table. Nothing was skipped out and it was still an enjoyable meal. We can't wait to come back again.

    Entry, has fish in it.

1st let me say Im not a fan of the seating. We were not told that a booth option was available if you dont want the hibachi seating. Which neither me nor my husband are fans of sitting at the table with stangers especially on our date nights. So after over hearing that a booth was an option we moved. The food was pretty good but not a lot of options. The chicken fried rice was great and probably enough for 2 or 3 people. I dont think that we will be back.

It feels like a traditional Japanese restaurant and the food is hands down the best Hibachi I have ever had.

Yelp helped us find this restaurant and they didnt disappoint. We started with appetizers Toki…read morefries, tempura brussel sprouts, bao buns and goyza. They were all good but the favorites were the brussel sprouts they were so light and tasty and the bao buns, my kid wanted a second order. For our entrees we got combination fried rice with beef and chicken, chicken fried rice, and two sushi rolls. They have their own parking lot which was nice. The staff was friendly, we were seated immediately even though they were busy. The decor is cute and clean. They have a bar and desserts too. This is not from the house so we will definitely be back.

Tokyo Cafe is easy to miss in the best and worst way. It is tucked into a yoga studio parking lot…read moreand I genuinely circled longer than I care to admit trying to find the entrance. The cars kind of block it, so you just have to commit and trust you are not in the wrong place. Once you get inside though, it is actually really cute and cozy. Also had a funny moment walking in like... where are my Asian people at? It is small but has a few different seating vibes. A sushi bar if you want something more low key, some dimly lit tables, and a brighter dining area where I landed. No outdoor seating, but it stays busy which was surprising given the location. Menu looked like it might be tough for a vegan at first glance, but my server was super knowledgeable and made it easy. I ended up with seaweed salad, cucumber salad, edamame, roasted brussels sprouts, and a tofu style poke bowl situation that was actually really good. Green tea was solid too. Only note is if you like spice, you have to ask for it because it is very mild on its own. It is a little pricier than expected for the setting, I was around $40 for lunch, and service was great. I also ended up chatting with a regular who basically treats it like his go to spot, which says a lot. Not a mind blown moment, but definitely a solid 4 star, would go back.
