We have a Whirlpool fridge and the ice maker broke down. I called many places for repair but Jarvis was one of the only that said they could handle it. There was a significant six-month delay as the part was not available at the beginning of the pandemic, but eventually it arrived and was installed promptly. It's two years later now and the ice maker is working great. I'd knock off a half star for the delay which wasn't communicated well in that I was told for months it was just 2 weeks out. It was really a pandemic shipping problem. I'd prefer they say they just don't know. Tony eventually looked into it to explain what was going on. Also - I bought a new dishwasher last year. I wish I'd bought it from them as I think after installation and delivery, they were probably the best deal. Next time I will shop them first. read more

Whatever you do when you purchase an appliance, DO NOT use any installers (plumber or electrician) that they recommend. Find what you need on your own. When something goes wrong, they'll just pass the buck. The electrician came to the house to look at the job, but never (after leaving 4 messages) got back with a quote. The plumber came and did the work but then charged more than we were told to expect, actually joking about the total when the work was completed. Jarvis may be a good company to buy products from, but don't hold your breath when it comes to their recommendations for service. And if you call and leave a message, you may have to leave more than one message to get a response. At least their delivery men are competent and courteous. read more

Don't buy Jarvis if your intent is to purchase an extended warranty. I have been a customer for many years and their post sales experience is just terrible. They do not do their own warranty work - like Yale - but farm it off to a 3rd party warranty company. This company, if they don't outright deny your claim, assigns the claim to a small appliance servicer who writes the up the repair order so that your claim never makes it off the desk of God knows who at the warranty company. Trying to get an explanation as to why your claim was denied is so painful they mercifully disconnect you before you have the opportunity to express your disappointment or ask for an explanation. So much for the extended 5 or 6 year warranty package, apparently a major profit center for Jarvis I would imagine. Run, don't walk to Yale Appliance, a 100% in house operation. Jarvis sold me a dryer which had to be replaced within a year because it stopped drying the clothes. I had to spend hours on the phone with the manufacturer to get the replacement. Jarvis also sold me a washer which started malfunctioning within 18 months - the spin cycle didn't work, and the machine would just start running for no apparent reason. read more

The gas dryer that we liked on their website was out of stock, and they gave us an upgraded model for the same price. Delivery was amazing. Regular contact on the day so I knew when they'd arrive. The delivery and install guys were great. They had a pipe fitter with them (at extra cost, but well worth it). He sorted out a minor issue with the fittings and got everything set up and tested thoroughly. They were super friendly and efficient. Overall a great experience. read more

I can no longer recommend Jarvis Appliance after being a customer for about 30 years. Their service has declined substantially. I purchased a Bosch refrigerator that had a defect hidden under white tape, which wasn't visible on delivery inspection, and only became apparent during a deep clean two months later. The tape looked like packing material, but once removed, the damage was obvious--someone had intentionally, deceptively covered up the defect. Jarvis dismissed us, blamed us, and then cited a 7-day policy, refusing to help despite the purposefully concealed defect. read more

Do not do business with Jarvis as they have no integrity and deceptive business practices. I purchased a Bosch refrigerator from Jarvis in August. On October 24 while cleaning a spill in the refrigerator I came a cross a piece of tape in front of the vegetable drawers. I thought this was just left over from shipping but when I peeled it back it was covering a break in the plastic. It is clear that the tape was placed to hide the damage. The tape was the same white color as the inside of the refrigerator and impossible to see except on very close inspection. I would not have noticed at all except when it peeled up while I was cleaning. This deception was deliberate and is quite disturbing. I made several requests for explanation and remediation that were all rebuffed. In fact I was blamed for not noticing sooner. This is a question of integrity, not of the damage to the refrigerator. The integrity of whoever covered the damage without telling us and of Jarvis proper for being associated with this deception and now complicit in its continuation. We are long time customers of Jarvis for over 30 years and I expected to be able to settle this promptly. read more

I give Jarvis ZERO stars but it is not an option to allow this post. I bought a $1200 Electrolux washing machine. From the first load of laundry, items of clothes got stuck in the front gasket. I contacted Jarvis within 24 hours and no one responded. As instructed by Jarvis when I called, I contacted my sales person (now several times), he has yet to respond over the past three days. I then spoke with a Jarvis customer service person who told me to put all items smaller than a t-shirt in mesh laundry bags to solve the issue. I told him that was not a solution for a family that does several loads of laundry a day. He then instructed me to call Electrolux and see if they could 'fix' it. I spent 30 minutes on the phone with Electrolux and they are now sending a service person to the house a week from now and I need to be home from 8am-5pm on that day (no weekend appointments). I asked to speak with a manager at Jarvis - nothing yet. The Jarvis website clearly states that if there is an issue to contact them within 48 hours, which I did (in writing). I am incredibly frustrated. Horrendous customer service. I get that some machines are defective, but Jarvis' has failed miserably in dealing with it. My next step is to call my credit card company as I don't know what else to do. read more

Quick and pleasant sales experience and better warranty pricing than big box competitors. Poor service experience after delivery of a non-functioning product (non-functioning due to Jarvis's error during delivery). Purchased a new fridge + warranty, delivered on a Saturday morning. Saturday evening the fridge was still not getting cold even though we were past the cooling period recommended by the manufacturer. Called the sales rep I made the purchase from and they advised to wait until morning and call the Service department, neglecting to mention the service department would not actually be open the next day. Now Monday morning, after 48 hours of a brand new warm fridge, called service department, got no ETA for a service appointment and recommendation to call the manufacturer and add more food to the fridge(???). Call back service department again, finally get an offer for a tech to come out on Thursday, which would be 5 days after delivery. I was able to resolve the issue myself, with the help of manufacturer support, part of the electronic controls was disconnected during installation but was not reconnected. The mistake was easy to make but the response to even acknowledging there was a problem was very disappointing. Part of the reason for me to shop local stores is expectation of a better customer support experience. In this case I don't think brushing off the initial call and then saying they can't address their own error for another 5 days would be acceptable anywhere. read more

My recent experience with Jarvis Appliances was the worst service visit of any kind that I have had in my 20 years as a homeowner. The service technician, Ted, was rude, customer-blaming and highly unprofessional. I had requested a service visit for a seemingly simple problem of a leaking dryer steam vent and a washer door gasket replacement. I was told by Jarvis Appliances dispatch to try to turn off the water to the dryer myself, but that the service technician would take care of it if I couldn't figure it out. Unfortunately, the switch to turn off the water seemed stuck to me, so I didn't try to force it and make things worse. Instead, I just put a bucket in the dryer to catch the leaking water, emptying it every so often until the service visit. When Ted arrived, I told him I couldn't turn off the water to the dryer. I then walked away from the bathroom to let Ted do his work. Unfortunately, Jarvis Appliances didn't inform Ted about the leaking dryer steam vent issue, so he became quite mad when he turned on the dryer that contained the bucket to catch the leaking water and had to clean up the resulting spill. He scolded me, packed up his tools without completing the service and stormed off, slamming the door on his way out. I have been a Jarvis Appliance customer since 2012 but I will think twice before calling them again for service (or purchase, for that matter). If I do have to use them - they are unfortunately one of the few options for appliance service in my area - I will certainly request someone other than Ted to come to my home. He is not fit to serve the public. I assume that Jarvis Appliance will respond to this complaint with a written comment that somehow tries to shirk responsibility and twist the story so that I'm to blame. That's what Ted did during the visit. It's a sad way to do business. Customers, especially those that need service for a nonfunctional appliance, are in a vulnerable position. They are seeking assistance. They do not need to be blamed for the problems they are struggling to solve. read more

Outstanding service! You will never get this from the mega-stores. I bought a set of washer/dryer, at the same price as the "big" stores, but with much better delivery: only 4 days, instead of 4 weeks. Once installed, there was a problem, they did not power up. I called the office, and within 3 hours a technician showed up. He diagnosed the problem as being in MY electrical panel. Instead of leaving right there, he opened the panel, showed me the incorrect wiring, and then proceeded to fix it - despite the fact that it was not his job. Just to be helpful. Imagine the cost and hassle and delay of hiring an electrician to do this if I bought from either one of the two big stores instead. My adventure with Jarvis started years ago, and unfortunately, overall, it was not a good experience. I had a Faber downdraft hood to fix. Pro: - they accepted to repair even if not bought there. - After many years and a lot of money, I have a unit that is working Cons: - I was not happy with their technicians. They did not know what they were doing, they charged me with expensive replacements that were not needed, they were slow and needed to come multiple times to inspect the unit...and every time my account was charged. - It took them years to fix my unit....and many, many, many phone calls, appointments and time I had to take off work. - I really did not like their policy of making you pay a lot for the first visit, so you are bound to stay with them because you think "well the job is nearly done". In my case, the job was not done; I paid around three times what I paid for their first visit. - They finally did not know how to fix my unit, and they gave me a new unit (thank you for that), but they refused to install it!! So here is a unit sitting in my living room for months, trying to find someone who would install it.....and more time on the phone, appointments and lots of money. - They promise me a partial refund but nothing appears on my credit card. I called them, and they changed their mind, no refund anymore! I gave up as I was so fed up wasting more time talking to them. The bottom point is that I will never call them back to service any of my appliances. I paid so much money that I should just have bought a new appliance, which would have saved me time and headaches. read more

Representative was great, explained the issue, told me he wanted to order some parts because wanted to make sure had the right ones since he could not figure out exact problem and did not want to make multiple trips and potentially cost more money. 1/30/21 update to my 10/26/2020 review: Our new non-scratched door arrived yesterday. (We had agreed to purchase a floor model with scratches on one door because they offered to replace the door when they could get a new one.) The new door is a great color match and would be perfect if it had been installed correctly. Alas, the door closer was not installed properly and now the door will not close on its own once you get it close -- it will happily stay slightly open. This should be a pretty basic part of installing a fridge door. So here we go with another service call, waiting home for another service guy, emptying the door of food when they get here, etc. ... I was looking to purchase a counter-depth refrigerator for my condo. The compact size of the kitchen and a cabinet above the space for the refrigerator posed challenges to finding just the right unit. I finally found a unit I liked and reached out to Jarvis and spoke with Ben Cohen. Ben was knowledgable, thorough, and efficient, so I was able to place an order for the refrigerator I wanted after making one phone call. Jarvis doesn't deliver on weekends. At least that was what I was told, so my delivery was set up for approximately two weeks from my purchase on a weekday/workday. My only gripe with Jarvis is that I was told that I would be contacted the day before the delivery with a window during which the delivery would be made. I found myself calling three times unsuccessfully the day before the delivery, trying to find out when the refrigerator would be delivered as this was a workday for me. I finally called sales and extracted the timing information I needed. Finally, at 4 PM, someone from the delivery department called me to confirm the time. The delivery the next day went smoothly. The delivery team was friendly, professional, and efficient, calling before they arrived, arriving on time, and demonstrating care for my new purchase and condo. I appreciate that Ben emailed me three days later regarding the delivery and my satisfaction with the refrigerator. Overall, I am very pleased with my purchase and experience with Jarvis. read more

We purchased 4 Bosch appliances from Jarvis. One arrived damaged and one was not delivered when it was promised because it too was damaged (they had informed us that all the appliances were being delivered together). When we initially purchased the appliances we had been told that we would be getting rebates from bosch as well as Jarvis' distributor, but we couldn't get the rebates because Jarvis sent us the wrong invoices multiple times, despite phone calls inquiring about them. Also, when the 2 damaged appliances were changed there were further issues with delivery dates and serial numbers on invoices, therefore we couldn't get the rebates. read more

In correspondence with Jarvis and investigating, the original review seems to have over stated the situation. The professional repair made two trips and cost $339 A year later when the part failed again. DIY, took most of a day (online research, opening the dryer, looking for the part, fetching the part, install, reassemble and clean the exhaust duct - the original problem) and about $10 (MSRP $24 at Sears) for the part. If needed, repeating the procedure again would involve ordering the part online and about 15 minutes to install. read more
