My husband and I have always had great meals here, lunch and dinner. We've only ever ordered sushi and starters, so I can't speak for the noodle and meat dishes, but we've tried several specialty rolls and have never been disappointed. They're always plated up nicely, too. On our first visit, we whipped out our phones to take photos of our plates, and the sushi chefs were so tickled that they sent out a free appetizer to show their appreciation. And I love the coconut shrimp; the shrimp themselves are a great size, and you get a good portion. Calamari starter is a generous portion, too! Ok, this is more of a review of the management than the food. Food was decent, crab cake appetizer was really good. My mom and I ordered dessert(vanilla bean cheese cake). Small sliver of cheesecake came out for 7 bucks! I could have dealt with that had it been good. It was cloyingly sweet and had did not have that rich cheesecake flavor at all. We both took 1 bite and left the rest on the plate(hardly touched). Waitress came back, saw we had not eaten it and DID ask about it. We both said it was not very good at all, she laughed and took it away. We at least expected it to be taken off the bill or at least discounted. No such luck. My mom got up and asked the waitress about it, she went to check with the manager, came back and said it would not be taken off because "there was nothing wrong with it." Now, clearly there was since we both did not touch it. No courtesy for your customers, and really, would it break them to take 7 bucks off the bill? The treatment does not garner good will or a welcoming atmosphere for a return visit. Shame that they have so little concern for return business or word of mouth. Seeya, Jasmine! read more

Dearest Jasmine, I have loved you so much over the years. Where did we go wrong?? Jasmine is receiving one star because the food is great. Unfortunately, dining out consists of more than just the food. I was seated at a circle table in the corner tonight with 4 girlfriends. Our table was filthy and flimsy. You know this type of table---you lean on it and your friend's meal jumps in their face. Then they lean on it, and your water spills. You try and put your weight on one of the legs under the table to sturdy it, but it doesn't help....there were crumbs all in the cracks of the table. My dear friend was pregnant and spilled the sauce with her appetizer accidently....and the spill remained on our table for the remainder of the meal. The menus were tattered and had oil and ink stains all over them. There were items whited-out on the menu. Can't you just print new ones?? The paint on the walls was chipping, but maybe they were aware because I did see painters tape on the ceiling. The walls were also marked by chairs being knocked into them repeatedly. They just looked sad. Our waiter was definitely overwhelmed. He couldn't make it to our table and looked relieved when we ordered everything at once---probably because he wouldn't have to come back to us again. With that being sad, we could have used some water. A refill once would have been nice between the beginning and the end of the meal. The bathroom needs TLC too. I dont like using bathrooms with broken stall doors. Kinda lacks privacy. Jasmine, take a week (month?) off and fix your problems. Thank goodness all the diners with me tonight knew "the old" Jasmine or I would have been embarrassed to suggest the restaurant. read more

I arrive with my roommate at 9:15 one evening and was told by the bored-looking hostess that they stopped seating at 9:00. We were starving after a long day, so we asked if take-out was an option. She reluctantly said yes. A waiter came and took our order, looking slightly annoyed. I ordered 3 sushi rolls, and my roommate ordered miso soup, a spring roll, and pad thai. We had a seat on the couch and were shocked when our food came out no more than 10 minutes later! Talk about fast! I was afraid the food had been hastily slopped together, but we got home and everything was delicious. The rolls were neat and tidy, the fish was fresh, and while the pad thai was not the best I've ever had, it was pretty darn tasty. Would have been 4 stars for the quality of food and speed of service, but deducted a star for the listless and somewhat rude staff. I understand it was late, but c'mon, they weren't closing for another 45 minutes. Despite that, I will certainly return to Jasmine before 9pm and see what the dining-in experience is like. read more

I should say that I'm from Los Angeles where Pan-Asian restaurants give way to the culinary subtlety of countless regional variations from almost every country one can imagine. That said, this the second time I've been to Jasmine--but in a momentary lapse and Groupon-induced greediness, I landed in this mediocre restaurant one time too many. This time it wasn't "meh, I've had better," it was really bad. When I order seafood (the whole fish, market price, with mango, pepper in a spicy sauce) I don't expect for either me or my food to go swimming. The "crispy" fish was so soaked with sauce that it was limp by the time I transferred it to another plate. The broccoli was so sauced up that it was inedible. After transferring the whole thing to another plate, I had to pick the fish up by the tail to let the sauce run off (into pools of red gooeyness). I was feeling wimpy so didn't send it back to the kitchen. The avocado roll was better but the seaweed was over soaked and soggy. OK, off to write a review of Rasa Sayang which has the best tofu I've ever tasted. Their mango tofu dish has me spoiled and purring. read more

Went here with a friend on a whim. We decided to try something new. We were not disppointed. They had a few things on the drink menu that looked interesting. Drinks didnt take too long to arrive and they were strong and pretty! My friend doesnt like raw fish but I love it. The rolls were tasty. The presentation was amazing and I left full. It seems to get a bit crowded the later it gets but Im fine with that since we stopped in around 5pm or so. Didnt really pick up til 6:30 or 7ish. There were a few couples with kids but I dont think its really a kid friendly place. The staff was fun and attentive and their bathrooms are CLEAN! I also really appreciated the fact that they have a lot of rolls that dont have avocado in them (im allergic). Most places are avocado city! The only downside was the hostess was a little crass and pushy but the interaction with her was short. Overall, It was a good experience and I was a happy camper. read more

Great place for sushi! My sister and I stopped by a couple of weeks ago on a Sunday night and sat at the sushi bar. The decor is very modern and recently re-done we learned from the Sushi chef. This place was a pleasant surprise. We were looking for some sushi restaurant and found this on yelp. The place might not give a great impression from outside but wait till you step in. It has nice ambience, good staff and really good food. Sushi presented in a very innovative and tasteful manner. The only reason I didn't give five star was because we had to wait for good 15 minutes before we got a waiter to attend to us and that too had a bit of confusion around. Last two times there the food was not as great as it had been. Most items were saltier than usual or too sweet. Staff or owner seemed to realize something was wrong, because she kept asking how things were and why we hadn't been there in a while. Not sure what is attracting people to this place. Could it be the cafeteria lighting, poor service and lukewarm food? Obviously we didn't rate high enough to be seated on the side that actually looked like a dining area. We put in our drink order, didn't realize there was even a wine list, waited 20 minutes for waiter to inform us there weren't any maritini glasses and could we have our cocktail in a wine glass and by the way there are no domestic light beers. Cancelled the beer, insisted on a martini glass and waited another 20 minutes for drinks. Received three lukewarm soups and no salad. Told the salad would be right out. After everyone finished their soup and we thought we might be close to getting our meals we cancelled the salad (waited probably 40 minutes for it by then). Finally received our meals, including the sushi we told the waiter we wanted as soon as it was up, about 1.5 hours into our adventure. Entrees were lukewarm as well with a skin on the curries. The quality of the food was fine and if everything else had been satisfactory I'm sure we would have enjoyed it. Had to ask the waiter for another tea when he finally wondered past our table long after the meals were delivered. Waiter never bothered to ask how the it was and couldn't be found when we were ready to pay. In addition to all this we were seated next to an exit door where the high class packing tape strip was flapping in the breeze and so it was drafty and cold. Meanwhile the strip mall security guy continued to roam while flashing a lovely yellow/orange light into the dining room. Surely this was not the first time anyone realized that it did not lend itself to a fine dining experience (shades, curtains anyone?). My brother tried to catch the eye of the manager as we exited and he pretended to be too busy to bother. It would seem this is not an establishment that will last much longer which seems to be the way of so many restaurants these days. They have only themselves to blame and the customers that continue to patronize despite these weaknesses. Why? Is there no where else worth spending $100 on a Saturday night? read more

Used to have the best Bento boxes around. Recently they forgot to season the lemongrass chicken (at least I think they forgot, it was so bland). Also, the sushi rolls are supposed to come with salad and soup but didn't -- got them after the sushi and the salad had no dressing on it. The service has gotten increasingly worse. read more

The quality of the food and service has been steadily declining.We left on our last visit without eating as we waited 20 minutes and never saw a waitress in an empty dining room.the hostess saw us leaving and never asked why. Decided to give it another try on Valentines day. Again the dining room was empty but this time we got served and food was good. My problem was with the rest room. In the ladies room one toilet was out of order and the door to the other stall did not lock or stay closed and there was no toilet paper!When I told the hostess on the way out that the ladies room is unacceptable and why..her response was" we are remodeling next month" no apology for the condition of the rest room.it was dirty as well.Guess they are not cleaning til next month. This place blows, the portions are ridiculous, $16-$22 for an entrée and it's less than a pint, then they give you a bowl of rice that is half full and the bowl is the size of a single scoop of ice cream, when you ask for more rice it's $2 for a bowl...wtf, are you kidding me. Charge you for rice, surprised they didn't charge for chopsticks and napkins. There's much better options. No wonder they had to downsize.... there's too many places that do it better and cheaper for you to treat consumers like this. read more

I was so excited when I got a flyer in my mail box of a sushi restaurant offering delivery I am a sushi freak and eat it at least 3 times a week and the flyer even a coupon with 10$ off a 30$ Order ... a week after receiving it I was about to call and place my order and I noticed that the coupon is only for dine in orders , well because I've never experienced eating at this place before I thought I would go in person and use my 10$ off instead of paying full price delivery for something I've never tried , as my husband was driving me there I went on there website and seen they even offer happy hour with a selection of appetizers and sushi 5$ all week long from 5-7 so of course I was even more excited being just in time for 5$ sushi, well me my husband and my one year old son get there and there was only 1 other couple in the whole restaurant & they place us at a table in front of the sushi bar which was fine with me ...but once I asked to see the happy hour menu I was told sushi is not on there happy hour menu ? And I said oh well I was just on your website and seen 5$ sushi then the waiter told me if u want happy hour you can't sit here you have to move on the other side of the restaurant which made no sense because there was a completely empty building? ... so anyway I moved my family high chairs diaper bags ect, orders my sushi and even chose 30$ worth of items on there dinner menu ... went to use my coupon only to be told it is not valid for happy hour?... I then told them that I ordered off the Dinner menu also 30$ worth ... I did get to finally use my coupon after explaining my order but nevertheless it's truly a shame that they offer such great deals n have such a beautiful location not far from my home at all but are much more worried about tricking you with there odd rules and weird hang ups that it honestly makes me never want to go back , there restaurant isn't empty cuz it's bad food it's empty because of employees making there guest feel uncomfortable for asking for what they advertise?!? If you have an issue, ask for the owner... he'll go back to the kitchen and cook something for you himself. They really cater to the customer. It's Wilmington's hidden treasure. Used to be the place for Asian food, but it has gone downhill very fast. Plus there has been recent local competition that is now far better. Takumi and Le Shoi are much nicer with better food and great service. They seem to have let the place go: the floor is coming up, there is a constant foul odor in bathroom and near bar. The service has dwindled as well. The sushi doesn't always seem as fresh as it should. The hostess starts the experience by grabbing menus without a smile or greeting. Competition will maybe spur them on. read more

I would like to say that I love coming to this restaurant and bringing my friends here too. Last night though I was greatly disappointed in the service. The food was great as always and everyone enjoyed but we waited way too long to get even our appetizers. Then we waited even longer for out entres. Our server was nowhere in sight for use to ask any questions and we even had to get up from the table to ask the hostess for needed items. To top it off the place wasn't packed by any means. My buddy and I went here for lunch on Tuesday afternoon and were very pleased with our order from the lunch menu. I had the Tom-yum Goong soup and the Singapore Vermicelli Noodles with Chicken. My friend had the Hot & Sour soup and the Kung Pao Chicken. We both ordered a TsingTao beer which were served with frosted mugs that made the beers very refreshing and was a very nice touch !!! This was another groupon driven meal. I remember going to jasmine about 3 years ago and the Sushi was good then, but it wasn't as good as I remembered. The service was the real kicker. First when we got there my husband asked if there were any tables near the TV because he wanted to watch the phillies. Some other gentleman who was not the host practically shoved our menus at us and just pointed for us to go to the bar. We sat at a lounge table for like 5 minutes when my husband went up to the bar to ask if we could get service at our table and they said no. Thanks for the menus we can't order from??? So we wen back to the host and asked for a table. Waited another 10 minutes before they came to offer water. We knew what we wanted so we didn't waste time ordering. We got the crouching tiger and the dragon fly. We were observing around us that things were kind of slow all around. We saw sushi plates lining up at the bar but no waiters going to get them. I saw a pretty looking plate with shrimp tails pointing up sitting there for a while...our waiter said they were just finishing ours and he'd pick it up in a minute and then proceeded to spend another 5 minutes talking about wine to the table next to us. Another few minutes later and fewer plates at the bar later...he finally handed us that pretty plate that was sitting there for about 15 minutes. Talk about a delay for no reason. The sushi was so-so. Not very flavorful. And the rice was under seasoned. There wasn't actually any kimchi sauce on the dragonfly roll and the shrimp was tucked in so well at the end that it was inevitable to eat some shell. The crouching tiger was kind of bland and the asparagus was a little too much on the raw side for me. I wouldn't recommend going here. read more

Don't go there if you don't want to get insulted. The guy who stands on the hostess desk will not treat you well unless you are his family member. It seems that his job is to insult the customers who come to that restaurant and make sure no one is left behind. We went there twice as a group of 8 and every time we were not given any table saying all 8 are not present. He literally counted us by pointing fingers towards each of us and said you are six. We said rest two are on their way and will be here any minute and we can even place order for them if you don't believe us. Still he was standing there like a bouncer of any nightclub and he does not want to let us in because he personally does not like us. It seems this guy wants to shut down the restaurant and do something else as he hates his job and everyone else who sets foot inside that restaurant. They just lost eight customers, their families, friends and also the all the people from my office as it was a Friday office lunch we went for. My friend and I went to Jasmine's last night to use my Groupon before it expires this Saturday. What a horrible experience! When we showed up we were told there was a 20-30 minute wait even though I had a reservation and there were quite a few empty tables on the bar side of the restaurant. The hostess said we could sit at an empty bar table. After 15 minutes of waiting without anyone approaching us, I went to the bar and asked if we had a server or did we need to order from the bar? The bartender said she was our server but was too busy to take care of us, then she sighed and said she be over as soon as possible. Another 15 minutes went by before she finally came out from behind the bar and went to the table next to us (which sat down a few minutes after us). She said she'd be right with them - what about us??? She proceeded to head to another table. After a few minutes, the other table gave up and left. When the bartender came back by, she hesitated at the now empty table then walked right by us - again!! What were we invisible?? A server finally came over and said he'd take our order but the food was going to take a long time since there was only one cook in the kitchen. I ordered a martini and he said they were out "the bar is really crowded, look at all the empty bottles". What are they selling out of all their liquor? I didn't realize I was in Dewey at The Starboard closing??? Now during all this time not one person working at Jasmine's said "I'm sorry", during all this time, the owner was not more than 10 feet away from us. I didn't see him do much other than bring sushi to the bar once. He could have taken our order, he could have made our drinks. I would have thought he had a vested interest in the business. Needless to say, I will NEVER, EVER go back. If you want sushi, drive a little further into Wilmington to Mikimoto's where you'll get great food AND great service!! read more
