What I ordered vs. what I got

The pictures say everything. What I ordered vs. what I got. Just a bummer of an experience.

Hawaiian bowl. It was beautiful and was good ... minus the crunchy rice.

We needed an easy late night dinner after soccer camp at UNC. Jason Deli seemed to serve our needs for this crazy crew. When we ordered I felt like we were inconvenience to the man at the register. When I asked him a question (gluten free menu as well as the Hawaiian bowl allergy info) it was a simple "I don't know". A lady then stepped in front of us while we were looking at the menu so I just stepped to the side and talked to the other man at the register. He was completely helpful! We placed a potato order, club sandwich and Hawaiian bowl. The food was plentiful. The Hawaiian bowl had rice that was very hard and dried out. I think they scraped the bottom of the rice cooker :-(! The ice cream machine was out as well. I am assuming they started to close down early and not replenish or refresh items which was discouraging. Not sure I would stop here for dinner. Lunch maybe.

The problem is it is very expensive and not very good. I had a pretty lousy reuben sandwich just now. It was dry. I enjoyed choosing the fruit cup instead of chips, but it costs a lot of money!

Jason's Deli is a good choice for a quick, affordable meal. There are plenty of sandwiches and soups to choose from, and I like that you can opt for fresh fruit with dip as your side item if you desire. The salad bar is pretty well-stocked and includes several pre-made salads such as potato and pasta, mini cornbread muffins, a variety of crunchy toppings, as well as healthier options to top your lettuce such as artichoke hearts, hard boiled eggs, and green peas. This location can get busy at lunch, but it is kept clean and the service is friendly.

Just look at this sandwich. A picture is worth a thousand words and I'm out. I feel better already.

Caught a cold... feeling miserable and about to start an antibiotic. Pouting . But wait! I can order the most savory, stacked, sublime Reuben and have it delivered.

Jason's Deli is of course a chain and sometimes, that can be a good dependable choice for a pretty quick lunch. I have been to many of these over the years and always find the same quick service and well kept salad bar. This visit I opted for soup and salad bar. The soup was small but hearty and one trip to the salad bar was plenty. Love that they have artichoke hearts to add to salad.

I don't really understand the concept behind unlimited soft-serve ice cream and mini muffins, but it adds a lot to the place :) I thought that the free food was supposed to be a draw to disguise the otherwise bad food, but that's not it at all. I've been to Jason's Deli's only twice, but I - and the large horde of people that I came with - was way more than content with the food. The portions are generous and the food is rich, filling and delicious. I had a quarter of a muffaletta my first time and I was overwhelmed by the complexity of flavors in that one bite. The second time that I came here, I got a children's menu (even though I'm 20) quesadilla with fruit and apple juice. It was under $4 and it was fantastic. So, so good. I'm definitely a fan of Jason's Deli.

This is a solid Jason's Deli. Great for lunch, and easy to stop in for quick meal. Good salad bar, good sandwiches, and good soups.

The turkey sandwich is quite good, but generally the sandwich breads don't taste that fresh, and a bit too dense.

It was too hot to eat outside, though I imagine their bamboo patio out back will be delightful to sit at in the cooler months. The inside tables along the window have a view out to the street. There's a display case featuring fresh made desserts and other sweets worth checking out. I loved the fresh tomato, lettuce, and crispy bacon on this sandwich. I'd enjoy coming back, though I think I'll take my sandwich home next time. BLTs are the specialty here, and they do a great job making them.

The outdoor patio has a lovely atmosphere, but we took out food back to the Carolina Inn where we were staying. The BLT was excellent, and this is in early March not in tomatoes season! We arrived around noon on a busy beautiful Sunday! There's plenty of seating both inside and on their outdoor wrap around patio. Foster's has an old rustic charm, kind of like a general store but on a larger scale. So, you order at the counter with one of their many staffers, they call your name when it's ready if you ordered to go, or they walk around to the tables calling out your name if you choose to dine there! I had the Farm Plate, which was 2 eggs your way, a meat, their famous herb biscuit and your choice of grits or potatoes. I chose scrambled hard with cheese eggs, chicken sausage patties and cheese grits. It was just ok. The food was good, not like OMG! My friend had the Breakfast Burrito and it was again, just ok. They have a variety of options to choose from. Maybe we just picked the most basic ones. Nothing is out of the ordinary. Everything looks delicious and we really should have tried a dessert, but didn't. I would go back to give them another chance, but I'm not rushing. They have local goods, like honey, jams, chocolates, sauces for sale as well as wine and lots of other goods. It's super family friendly and a great place to sit and enjoy someone's company or your own, o just didn't have a spectacular experience.

As you enter there is a sign that tells you to go look at the menu board, pick out your drink, and go back to the counter to order. I grabbed a diet coke, and ordered a Common Cobb. I was a bit surprise when my total came to $18, as my salad was only $14 but I guess I should have paid attention that my bottle of soda was over $3. How much are the fountain drinks, I wonder? I found us a table inside since it was a bit hot that day (there is also plenty of seating outside AND inside if you go downstairs). The table and floor were messy but someone quickly came to clean it for me. They called our names over the loudspeaker and my best friend went to go get our food. She got the MotherClucker. Our food was REALLY good. If you like Cobb salad, you will definitely like this one. The chicken was pan seared perfectly, the vinaigrette was perfectly tangy and the bleu cheese was especially excellent. My friend's chicken sandwich has SO MUCH chicken salad on it. Impressive. There was so many neat items to see in the place. The murals were great, there were some cute retail spaces, a coffee bar up front, a bar downstairs, and ice cream outside!
