I almost didn't go to Jason's Deli, you know why? THE NAME! Is it just me or does the name Jason's Deli not inspire any confidence about the quality of the deli in question. What do I know about Deli's though? Wait I'm northern & Jewish so everything. Anyway I couldn't have been more wrong about Jason's, it wasn't really a Deli anyway (btw just because you make sandwiches doesn't mean your a deli). As I'm still on that diet, I ate from Jason's light menu and got the Mediterranean wrap which was only about 300 something calories and very limited in fat. With that I could've had a side of fruit, steamed veggies, or baked chips and a pickle. I got the side of fruit. My friend ordered the lighter side's Turkey Reuben with a side of steamed veggies. Not to expensive but more so than subway or a more popular chain. What we liked: 1. The sandwiches for being on the lighter side were very filling and given in regular sized portion 2. My fruit was fabulously fresh! So often when you get a side of fruit you get a bunch of squishy melon and maybe some grapes. Here they gave me fresh grapes, strawberries, and some honeydew with a side of yogurt for dipping! 3. My friend's steamed vegetables were perfectly steamed and contained a really good broccoli to cauliflower to carrots ratio. Also, when I say steamed I mean really steamed there was no oil or any extra additives on top of it. What made us all like whaa? What was with the salad bar & the frozen yogurt? Were they free? We were told by the most adorable helpful old lady that the yogurt was but we couldn't make out what the deal was with the salad bar as some things like the muffins were free (and delicious) but other things.. We'd appreciate some kind of sign in that area so I don't feel like I'm stealing. Overall: I really liked that they had a light menu that tasted rich, their abundance of free stuff is awesome, & I recommend you give them a try, despite the name! read more

I was craving a salad bar. I know, who craves a salad bar? So we went looking for salad bars in Durham and came up with this place. Along with the salad bar, I had a cup of vegetarian French onion soup. French onion soup is hardly ever vegetarian--most recipes are beef broth based--so I was excited about that. The soup wasn't too bad, and as is the case with most things, was made better by adding a couple more toast croutons from the salad bar. Still, I didn't love it enough to get it every single time I eat here. The service is, as others have noted, pretty slow. We were first confused about how to get our soup, but we dropped off our little order cards at the end of the counter and were told it would be brought out to us. However, after nearly finishing our salads, we had to go remind them about our soup. The salad bar fulfilled all my cravings. I especially liked the pearl couscous salad, but there's a wide variety of veggies, fruit, prepared salads, nuts, and even desserts like pudding. There is also free ice cream, which tastes like free ice cream: okay, but unremarkable. It's better with the nearby chocolate syrup. I'd definitely eat here again. read more

I love Jason's Deli even though it is a National chain based out of Texas. Huge portions of good food. On the menu are soups, salads and sandwiches. I really like the "Beefeater" which is hot roast beef and provolone cheese on a french roll and served with Au Jus for dipping. I'm from Texas and these things are everywhere. Such a great salad bar and the price around $7 is ridiculously cheap. They don't skimp on the stuff at the salad bar (beets, feta cheese, boiled eggs, hummus, carrots, three kinds of salad, granola) and every ingredient is filled several times an hour. I also get the California club a lot. It has turkey, Swiss cheese, salad, guacamole, bacon and comes with a side of fruit. So healthy and delicious. What I thought to be just a locals' favorite casual spots in Durham, Jason's Deli is actually, whoa, a big chain in many southern/midwest states. The sandwiches here are solid, the customized cold cut sandwiches are prepared a la Subway style, with an open counter for you to order all your individual ingredients. I got a hot sandwich - the Santa Fe chicken sandwich - and was very pleased with it. My friends always get the salad here, you pay about $7.50 and it's an unlimited buffet style salad bar. Seeing as how they keep going back for seconds and thirds, i would say the quality of salad is also up to par here. What I particularly love are all the extras they give you here - it's almost like going to Sizzler! The soft drinks and coffee/tea are unlimited refill-able, to the side of the salad bar there are various nuts, granolas, and mini chocolate and corn muffins for everyone, even without purchasing a salad bar item. Excellent value for the price, because for ~$8 you get an all-you-can-eat salad bar stocked with a fairly reasonable variety of toppings and pasta salad, some dried and fresh fruit and nuts, and other additional treats (including free soft-serve ice cream). The lunch special is also a pretty good deal as well, and comes with a lot of food: half a sandwich, soup, chips, and access to part of the salad bar. The food at Jason's Deli is great, but it's a little too kid friendly for me. I'm sure that would be a plus, say, if you have 5 kids you need to take to lunch... but I don't! You order your meal, sit at a table, and they bring the food out to you. Fountain soda - I attempted to get Coke Zero, but it was way off... had to go back and get regular Diet Coke. Good, fast, and cheap! I'm docking a star because it was the first time I ever went to one and the specials menu was all I saw, and I didn't realize until it was too late that there is an actual menu hidden away. Other then that, the fruit we ordered were amazingly fresh and the free bread/ice cream was really appreciated. GREAT value for your money. I've been to Jason's Deli three times in the past year. At first I didn't think it was too bad, but I was certain that I would find a better deli in the Triangle. What a difference a year makes! Yesterday I was back at Jason's trying the corned beef on rye. It was a pretty good sandwich. The corned beef was appropriately thick with small amounts of fat visible (mandatory). The rye bread was typical of other rye beads in the Triangle--bland, large, rectangular slices that bring little flavor to the sandwich. The spicy brown mustard was spread thick enough to notice and was very good. It was also a thick sandwich, 3 inches or so (also mandatory). I've also had the muffaletta sandwich at Jason's Deli. The muffaletta is a southern invention. I've had them up north but didn't grow up eating them. The muffaletta at Jason's was tasty but the bread was lacking in chewiness and flavor and exhibited no distinct character, just white bread really. However, the muffaletta at Neal's in Carrboro is no better and made with bread that I can only describe as edible Styrofoam! Maybe bland bread is normal for a muffaletta? If anyone can recommend a top notch muffaletta in the Triangle I'd love to try it. It's hard to believe that a chain/franchise deli is better than, or at least the equal of, the independent local places. My quest will continue for good delis. If you're born and raised NY-Metro and you love deli food you'll need to do a lot of leg work in the Triangle. In the meantime, enjoy the biscuits and hush puppies! read more

I've been a Jason's customer for over 10 yrs in many states; today's visit was VERY disappointing. Cold & tasteless potato soup, dry rye bread that broke apart when you picked up the sandwich, pastrami ok but corned beef that was stringy, tough & tasteless. It's no wonder the nearby restaurants are busy! I'll give it one more try; but, this location is on the verge of being off the list to consider. read more

Love the staff, the environment, and the food. Perfect spot for lunch with a diverse menu. We had the seafood gumbo and a fruit bowl and the flavors and freshness were unbeatable. Too bad it's nestled in New Hope Commons. A better location would be clutch in getting more people there. read more

Thanks so much for offering the Udi's GF bread! Much appreciated. It's great to have a local place with such a great amount of GF options nearby! I like the recent facility update to. Very happy with my visits there. For those eating gluten free, request change of gloves and Udi's bread. There's a small up-charge for it. Be sure to have them put your bread on foil when toasting it (Udi's tastes best toasted) so you don't have cross-contamination. Everything was just okay. The staff was very nice, accommodating, and helpful. This was my first time eating there; I've had it delivered but have never eaten there in house. The food was prompt and hot and everything was fairly priced. The food was appetizing and hit the spot. Pretty good food. The sandwiches are huge, and they have an extensive salad bar. You also get free ice cream and muffins and nuts and stuff. I got the turkey muffaletta which I didn't actually really like because it had a ton of olives..I don't know how I missed the memo in the menu.. It's basically an olive sandwich with turkey. My boyfriend got some croissant club which I liked better than mine. Overall it's just your typical deli chain with typical deli food. Not bad, but not out-of-this-world. read more

I come here often, my build your own sandwich is simple and consistent. I have never had an issue with freshness at any Jason's Deli. I always treat myself to the brown ginger muffins that are complimentary to all guest, as well as the soft serve ice-cream. They have a delicious salad bar and my favorite soup is the Tomato Basil. This location is rather large. My buddies and I entered, got a couple sandwiches, and sat down. I personally got the Reuben pastrami sandwich, which was literally bread, thousand island dressing, sauerkraut, and pastrami. They did give a LOT of pastrami, but I felt the sandwich could have done much better. They also have a salad bar option. If you choose this option, you pretty much get the souplantation experience, with just much less selection. Also, one section of the salad bar is up for grabs, and they have these muffins that are actually pretty great. One last thumbs up for this place is their free ice cream. They have a self-serve machine that you can use after you finish your meal. It didn't taste that great, but I mean, what'd you expect? Still, a rather nice touch. I think it's worth mentioning that I am rounding down from a 3.5, because our food came out really late (I think they actually forgot about us, and we had to remind them), and also because what you get seems to be little compared to how much you pay. Jason's catered an event at my workplace today. They were on-time, individual boxes were all labeled so people could pick up what they wanted and go off to eat in a "together but distant" way. We LOVE Jason's Deli and go there a lot. It's one of our favorite casual places for a quick bite. All of the employees are kind and helpful. They are always smiling. This is my family's go to place for dinner when we don't have the time or energy to cook. The food is always fresh and delicious. Great prices, the line goes by fast. There is catering and also you can just pick up food. There are tons of tables to sit at and the people working there do a great job coming and cleaning up the food and dishes so that more people can sit down. During the lunch hour it gets busy with people from local companies. I would def recommend coming here for a simple lunch, out of company, or bringing your kids here. There is prepacked cheese cake, desserts and what not if you just want a quick dessert or bite to eat. I got the mixed up salad with walnuts, grapes, and etc..The salad bar lets you get home made gingerbread muffins along with all these other extras. You can get half sandwich and soup. (Apparently the soups were also very good.) Prices were good #7 for $60. FREE SOFT SERVE!! :) They were fast at bringing out food but also remembering orders. Jason's Deli is an old favorite hang-out for our friend group. During our most recent visit (it had been quite awhile since we'd been there), we noticed some inconsistencies between sandwiches ordered among our group. Also, portion sizes of menu items have decreased. Still a great meal, especially if you go with the all-you-can-eat salad bar- my favorite bar in town! You can add a cup of soup to the salad bar for $0.99, a great deal. And of course, don't forget about the free ice cream. read more

In the past, I wasn't a fan of Jason's deli. I could never find a menu item that really grabbed me and I won't be swayed by free soft-serve and mini-muffins. Thanks to the addition of Udi's gluten free bread and a menu to go with it, all that has changed. It's so hard to find a sandwich shop that carries gluten free bread and most of the one's I've tried use the sawdust variety. I guess someone at Jason's actually tried the bread before they put it on the menu, as they chose Udi's, one of the closest approximations I've had to date. So, for once, I don't have to keep making my own sandwiches. read more

Jason's Deli is pretty good. I think they take very good care of this location. I really like the service here. The salad bar is always clean and they have a good selection of bottled drinks. I enjoy getting their manager special once every few weeks. Their soups are very good....especially the broccoli and cheese. read more

The managers lunch special is always a great option for those wanting a half sandwich and soup. I frequent this location to get a bite for lunch. Note that it takes around 10 minutes to get your meal so do not expect to get in and out in under 20 minutes. If you have the time to wait for your meal, I strongly suggest Jason's Deli. read more

I ate here once and went back the next day! Really like this place... There are about a zillion customizable sandwich options plus some salads, soups, and sides. The staff are friendly, attentive to detail, and also helpful with special dietary needs (e.g., gluten sensitivity). They have some organic food items on the menu. Service is pretty quick and prices are much less than you would pay for a healthy food takeaway option or delivery elsewhere. Quick lunch or easy dinner. You can also order online, which is great; however, our food was available much earlier than the hour they estimated in the confirmation email so you may want to stop in sooner rather than waiting. read more

I was not impressed. We ordered food and scheduled it to be delivered at a certain time. They delivered 30 minutes early when we were in class. The food was cold and there was no apology or offer to get hot food. No real explanations. It was certainly overpriced for what it was. I'll stick with Panera. read more

We ordered as a group and asked for the delivery time to be between 11:30 and 12:00. Later we couldn't figure out why the order had closed early...and we found out when the ordered arrived an hour early and the store refused to remake our order and they just redelivered the same food. read more
