Although I can't give them credit for making my amazing creation, I have to give credit to Jason's for having the best options for my salad! The little pasta toppings are my favorite part. They have soups, salads and sandwiches which are all equally tasty. Jason's is known for their free ice cream at the end of the meal. A DIY soft serve of chocolate, vanilla or swirl in a cup or a cone. It's such a nice touch that I enjoy every time! I can't wait to get back and dive into the salad bar! read more

I use to love this place when I first was going but after my last visit I'm starting to lose the love. They no longer have the all you can eat salad bar and instead charge you $9 for one salad. Beautiful salad bar, with unique items different from most typical salad bar restaurants. Artichoke hearts, feta cheese, kalamata olives, tomato & mozzarella salad?! Yummy. Always fresh and salad bar kept spotless. They have tons of cracker selections, as well as the most wonderful little bread crisps. Their soups & sandwiches are good as well. My wife used to love going here but the last few times we went it was disgusting, the floors and tables were dirty with food everywhere. We decided to notify corporate of how it was going down hill. We gave it another try eight months later which was today. When we got there at 10:15am, they opened at 10am. We walked in the doors and nothing has changed the store was filthy there was food all over the floor and the tables were dirty there's food between the seats the floor is just disgusting and sticky, the ice cream machine had muddy looking stuff all up and down the front of it. This appears to be common practice for a restaurant to leave the lobby filthy overnight and open the next day and over look it? If this is what customers can see, how is the cleanliness of the back food pre area that the custimers can't see? The store overall is just disgusting we will not be back! read more

My mom and sister and I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Jason's Deli. You will entree the front door pick up a menu and order and pay at the first station. Then proceed to show your receipt to receive your silverware and plates for salad bar. You receive a number for entrees. Chips come with your sandwiches. My mom had the Shelly's Deli chik, which is chicken salad with mayo, almonds and pineapple served on onion roll, next time I'll have the bread toasted. So many options and so many of my favorite veggies that you don't normally find at salad bars... zucchini, roasted red peppers, artichoke. With your salad you get two small togo containers; a cup for dressing (Try the Gorgonzola vinaigrette!!!) and a cup for whatever else you really want. Pasta salad, boiled eggs, apples, potato salad. What's for dinner on a Friday night? Should I be bad? Should I be good? Well, on this uneventful evening I decided to be semi-good. I went to Jason's Deli for their salad bar. I say semi-good because the toppings and dressing definitely boosts your calorie intake. I give it three stars because it's ok but could be better. The lettuce choices didn't look that fresh on this visit and I think i saw something in the tomatoes that wasn't a tomato. It grossed me out a little when the employee was replacing items in the salad bar without gloves. I know the stuff is in containers but her nails we're long They also offer a variety of sandwiches, chips, pasta, baked potatoes and soup. As an avid fan of Jason's salad bar for years, I was happy when I called a few weeks ago to ask if their salad bar was back in operation and they said yes!!! Today I decided to dine in and enjoy the salad bar and read a book while I waited to pick my wife up from an event she was at. I purchased my salad bar from a nice cashier, picked up my bowl and silverware, was given gloves (with no explanation regarding glove use). I went to the salad bar, as I have many times over the years, for my first of what is normally two trips. I also put on one glove on the hand that was going to touch the tongs (seemed logical even though there was no directions given or signs up stating you needed to wear gloves). While getting my salad, I observed the employee who was refreshing the salad bar filling items up and touching everything with out wearing gloves. So maybe the gloves I was given were not meant for me to wear?? After I finished my first salad, I took my plate over to the counter, as I have done for years, and asked for another plate. The two employees looked at me like I had two heads. It it at this time I was informed they only allowed one trip to the salad bar. Needless to say I was surprised. Looking around the salad bar I did not see anything that indicated it was only a one trip salad bar now and when I paid for it I was not informed it was one trip. On my way out, I stoped at the front counter where the cashier and what looked like two managers were standing and told them of my experience regarding being unaware of the salad bar changes. They could give a rats a--. If I knew of the one trip rule, I would have ordered a sandwich which would have been a much better value and more filling. Love the food at Jason's, not so much the new policy or the indifference the employees showed to me. Bottom line for lovers of the salad bar, it is only one trip and not a wise purchase. Alright. Jason's deli? I'm not mad about it. My first time here was an excellent experience. Immediate gratification with the salad bar. Not a wait in sight. Bottled water and a caprese sandwich. I will be having it again. Forever obsessed with any place with a cost friendly salad bar! The staff was SO friendly and tables were cleared before you could even notice anyone had left the table. It was so smooth to get in and out of here. It maybe took me less than a minute to walk up ask for a to go box and put my sandwich in and leave. I realize I'm probably one of the few left on God's green earth who had never dined at Jason's Deli before. It always sounded like a rather basic lunch spot to me. I mean, who's this Jason after all? Well, apparently Jason knows exactly what he's doing because I went on a Friday night, birthday coupon in hand and found the place packed. Maybe these folks knew something I didn't. You walk up, order at the counter and the servers bring your food with a smile. I opted for the baked potato which was huge and loaded to the brim with toppings. Plenty large enough to share and maybe even have leftovers. It was a veggie only night for me, so I substituted the bacon for a roasted corn and black bean mix. Awesome choice. What's better is that at the end of the salad bar, there is another section where everyone is permitted to indulge in the toppings such as croutons, little baby muffins, pepperoncini and what to me seemed like a muffuletta spread in oil, in addition to some jalapeños. All wonderful extras if you ask me. One of the coolest parts of Jason's Deli is the soft serve ice cream with the option of chocolate sauce. Really will bring out the kid in you, I promise. We ordered a delivery from Jason's Deli for dinner. We were in the mood for salad, so we ordered 1 of the Salad Bar salads (make your own) and the Mesa Salad. I ordered a cup of the chicken noodle soup and we both ordered the strawberry shortcake for dessert. Not sure why, but every time we order for delivery from Jason's, it always seems to take "forever" to get the order. We used DoorDash today and the order was confirmed at 4:20 p.m. but the soup, 2 salads, and 2 desserts were not ready for pickup until nearly 5:00! Seriously, how long can it take to make a simple order like this? The salads were good -- the ingredients were fresh and the add-ons were plentiful. I got the Honey Mustard dressing which was more spicy than I like. My wife got the Jalapeno Ranch dressing which she liked a lot. The chicken noodle soup had an odd flavor and while it had lots of veggies and chicken in it, overall it was not very tasty and I couldn't finish it. My wife tried it and agreed that the broth had an odd almost indescribable taste. The strawberry shortcake was ok -- the cake itself was pretty dry. Without the strawberries and whipped cream, it would have been difficult to eat without some water to wash it down. The salads and desserts are more than generous especially for the price, so it's a good value. I can't recommend the soup... just not very good. It's probably better to go to the store to get your food because delivery orders seem to take forever for them to fulfill. read more

For my 600th review, what better than one of my favorites, Jason's Deli! I discovered this chain while living in South Florida and have been going for a number of years. A healthy and convenient option, it's a regular in my lunch rotation. Some co-workers told me about this location after recently moving back to J'ville. It's fairly close to work and home so I'm going to make it a weekly stop to balance out some of my other not so healthy routines, lol. Parking was super easy although I was pretty well passed the normal lunch rush. I was greeted by a couple of gals at the counter but needed a few minutes to peruse the menu. Soups, salads, sandwiches, paninis, wraps, muffulettas, pastas, potatoes a humongous salad bar and more. Everything is freshly prepared and there's even gluten free options. You can also order online and save time at the counter and you earn rewards points redeemable for future orders. On this visit I went with one of their Specialty Sandwiches, the JB's Southwest Turkey. You can also order 1/2 or a whole sandwich, I went with 1/2 since I don't eat a lot of bread. Piled high with smoked turkey breast, provolone cheese, guacamole, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli on a toasted telera role. It also comes with a side of chips, regular or baked. After paying the hand you your receipt and a number to place on your table. Grab your drink and a table and they'll bring your food out shortly. The dining area is always super clean. You also grab any needed napkins, silverware, lemon wedges, etc... seating is deli style meaning you'll be close to your neighbors but not to worry, you'll likely just make a new friend. The food is consistently good BUT I decided to try the Limited time Spicy Grilled Cheese and Tortilla Soup last night. The ad says the sandwich contains jalapeño pepper jack and cheddar, plus green chili aioli, on multigrain wheat bread. There was NO pepper jack or cheddar cheese nor any green chili aioli. Not sure what cheese was on it but it was a very mild white cheese and there was no spice. I don't think the staff knew what they were preparing. That was very disappointing. Why did it take me so long to get here?! This is my new favorite place! It was a Sunday afternoon and it was packed! Hubby and I shared the chicken pot pie. I really liked how they had the dough on top and the chicken was like a soup in the cup. It was very tasty, not too salty and not too thick. We also shared the penne pasta with meatballs. It was just as good as the meatballs that I make at home from scratch. I was a bit surprised how good it was, don't let the name "deli" fool you. This place is busy for a reason. I can't wait to try what other goodies they have. Other than the great food, I love how they have stuff for free. Hubby got these round balls that tasted like cake. Not sure what it was but it was good. Also got some bread for the pasta and at the end we got ice cream... all for free!! What a great place! The only thing that I didn't care for was the person cleaning the tables. sloppy rushed job and still was dirty. This place has really gone down ever since the remodel. My boyfriend and I have been going to Jason's Deli about twice a week for the past two years and appreciated it for it's fresh ingredients and cleanliness, but not anymore. We gave them three last shots before finally deciding to boycott. On one visit I ordered the salad bar as I often do, but found myself having to find someone to refill the lettuce and many other items that just weren't there. Basically, begging for the salad that I paid for. My boyfriend had already gotten his sandwich and eaten it before the girl could refill the bar. She claimed to be on break. It was a DISGUSTING mess! Food EVERYWHERE! Just horrible, filthy, I felt sick. We figured that maybe it was just an off day and decided to try it again the next week. We both ordered the Plain Jane baked potato - I just couldn't bring myself to eat the salad bar again after the last visit, yuck. After about 30 minutes, we finally received our potatoes, but no silverware. The guy said that he'd be right back with our silverware and after about 15-20 minutes I went looking for him only to find him doing something else. He'd completely forgotten about us and so we had to eat cold potatoes that night. He seemed annoyed for whatever reason, too, when all we wanted was a fork to eat our food with. So, we decided to give Jason's one last shot, still hoping that it still was what it used to be and they were just having a couple of off days. We ordered the Plain Jane again and this time it was crunchy, not cooked or nuked or whatever at ALL. My poor boyfriend is not one to complain so he just accepted the loss and didn't eat that night. His entire potato was left on the table. I picked the cheese off of mine and tried to eat the parts that were a little less crunchy, but also gave up. It was totally unacceptable and sadly, another $20 down the drain. The old crew was awesome, but their new crew just doesn't care. They used to know exactly what we wanted to order when we walked in the door as we were regulars, but now we feel like we're bothering the employees if we need silverware to eat with. The salad bar is a disgusting mess, the potatoes aren't cooked and the sandwiches are now slapped together sloppily unlike before. Somehow I managed to spend 4 years at UNF without ever eating at Jason's Deli (I know, I know!). Now that I work down Southside, I've fallen in love. First off, they have a huge menu. In my opinion, this is both a positive and a negative. Luckily I get an hour for lunch so I can take my time deciding. The salad bar is really nice, as are their soups. On my last visit, I tried the pollo Meixcano potato and oh my god, amazing. I got the "lighter" portion and I was stuffed. The cheese was so gooey and perfect and I loved the fresh salsa it was served with. The staff is super friendly and I like the way the ordering/paying system is set up. It makes things really easy and keeps it moving. I've yet to indulge in the free ice cream near the drink station but you can't complain about that. The parking lot gets very busy at lunch time (to be fair, you won't find a parking lot in the area that isn't busy at lunch time) but it is worth the fight for a spot. As I type this, I'm debating fighting the rain for that damn potato.... read more

My mother has been craving a good salad bar for a while now so we decided to go one Sunday on a whim. When thinking salad bars, Jason's is always our first choice. A good salad bar is more rare than unicorns! This visit we ended up being sorely disappointed. The beginning of our visit wasn't bad. I had never used the little ordering kiosk before so that was a new experience and it was super easy and very convenient due to the long line otherwise. We ordered and paid in minutes and then went to pick up our trays with the plates etc. The salad bar was clean as usual. There wasn't anything that was scraping the bottom or messy. They do keep a very clean salad bar. The food was fresh and our issues certainly had nothing to do with the food. The issue we had on this visit was the person they had working bussing tables. I can understand not liking your job, heaven knows I have had many jobs I was not super thrilled with. However, when your hatred starts to disrupt guests, there is a problem. This gentleman slammed dishes into his wash tub hard enough to make my mother almost fall out of her chair. He walked behind one lady and slammed the dishes so hard, the lady squeaked in surprise. He really made the entire experience very unpleasant. I understand the importance of his job, even his distaste of it, but on this day, his hatred was affecting not just us, but many people in the restaurant. Got it home...now I know what sandwich places do with old, wilting lettuce, old veggies (tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach, onions, etc. They bury them in a very small to go box, add a touch of fresh on top. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY FOR A SALAD AT JASON'S DELI. It floors me that they get away with this. Yes, I could have gone back, out of my way, 20 minutes each way, to show them. I've really enjoyed my visits at Jason's Deli. Located on Southside Blvd, this is the perfect spot for a healthy lunch. I've had the Club Royal and the Sante Fe Chicken Sandwich. Both were great and under 700 calories. This location has a very nice salad bar that's only $7.99. You can add a side salad to your meal for only $4.59 as well. Everyone that works there has a very positive attitude and can answer all of your questions. Lunchtime is busy but my wait wasn't long at all. This will be a weekly lunch spot for me! read more

I don't get to come to Jason's as often as I did in the past when I worked or lived nearby. We couldn't decide on a new place while I was over in the Town Center so we decided on an old favorite. We always get the salad bar and a bowl of soup. The salad bar is always clean and constantly stocked while we are there. Today, I got myself a bowl of the Maine Lobster Chowder and my hunny went with the Spicy Gumbo. The kitchen/ line is always hustling out your food at lightning speed. If not, they bring it out to your table as soon as it's ready. We always have to get a small plate of the Gingerbread muffins because they are the best thing on the planet... And I live Gingerbread. Plus, I always end my meal with a small portion of the chocolate mousse. I can easily say that I have always had a positive experience with the staff. If you don't like Jason's there is something wrong with you :-) I have been here almost a dozen times since moving here, and each time it gets better. I finally got to try their delivery service, and I was impressed. They got our order to us in a very timely manner (even after my forgetting to call it in until close to the time we needed it), and everything was perfect. My only beef with the delivery is the $7 delivery fee attached, but hey. Their baked potatoes are HUGE, when I go on a date night hubby, we usually split one and get a salad bar, which is always clean and well-stocked. Our kids like the pizza and gluten-free nuggets. And of course the free ice cream is a hit! There was a sandwich I ate there once, I wish I could remember the name, I know it had pulled pork and a sweet tasting dressing on top. Sooooo.... good!
