I have driven by this spot many times and finally the flags in front lured me in. It's a very cozy coffee shop with lunch and wine options. The premises gives off a cabin like vibe and is calming. They have produced coffee over 25 years and it definitely shows, I had their daily special cappuccino and it was aromatic and flavorful. I also had their lab dry wine rose paired with the lobster bagel and the combo was incredibly good. The owners also came out to socialize and we had a ton of fun. It was fine. The Benedict and food in general was small but tasted good. Coffee wasn't very strong but it was good for a hot day sitting out on their outdoor seating. Prices are somewhat high for the portions. There's not a lot of staff available which is fine, but it does mean that you might have to wait a little if it gets busy. read more

Such a cute cafe!! The turn comes up quick and initially looks like someone's home but it is serene. If it's a beautiful day you'll want to sit outside. Even if it's raining, sitting indoors is still beautiful because of the heigh of the windows and the view. Ordered: caramel latte, crab cakes, lobster cakes They roast their own coffee and you can taste the quality I almost wanted to order a separate coffee black. Love crab and lobster so these are a must try. Perfect lunch or snack. If I lived closer I would frequent much more often. Owner is very kind and personable. read more

We have never been to this place, and we were highly looking forward to it. We went the day prior for an early morning coffee (at around 9:30), and they did not open until 10:00. At that time, people do not want coffee- it is too late. We decided to give it another try, so we came in the next day with our dog. Right when we walked in, the lady at the counter (who seemed like she was the owner) did not even greet us but was quick to say in a very condescending voice "no puppies." I told her that she was a service dog and she questioned me, asking where her vest was. According to the ADA, it is illegal to request for documentation that the dog is registered as a service dog. She was adamant about not letting us in because she was so eager to ask about my dog being a service dog. I also noticed that they have cats at this establishment, which if they have cats, they must be service cats (according to their rules). We were looking forward to trying this coffee place, but needless to say, we will not be back. read more

This café is a hidden gem in the Penn Yan area! Blink and you'll miss it--look for the "Java Gourmet" sign by the road. We stopped by around 2:00 pm on a Wednesday. There were no customers seated in the café, but there was a small stream of grab-and-go business. Upon settling down on a cozy couch in the cabin-like seating area, we noticed the gorgeous view of Keuka Lake. I would consider the view on par with several of the local wineries. They also have outdoor seating on a deck with a similarly gorgeous view. We stayed for a while, sipped coffee and enjoyed a few small plates. I had the nitro coffee, which was extremely smooth and incredibly easy to drink. My companion had a mocha cappuccino which was well made and served piping hot. We noshed on crab bites (cheesy, crabby goodness toasted into an english muffin), and the charcuterie plate which featured two local cheeses, an imported salami and delightfully warm multigrain ciabatta. The menu is limited and I gather that the small plates change regularly, though all of the menu items sounded great when we went. The also offer a small variety of baked goods and serve wine. There is a range in price points, but many items were budget-friendly, especially if you are looking for a little treat. Every menu item that we tried seemed fair based on the quality and the fact that much of it is local. After speaking with one of the owners, we learned that they support several local charitable organizations and largely power their property with solar energy. Great to know that they are invested in the community! There is also a gift shop stocked with a variety of their coffees, spice rubs and gourmet salts, as well as local cheeses and more. This is a great spot to relax with a cup of coffee (or wine) and grab a few nibbles. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

If you appreciate an excellent cup of coffee this place is a must stop. I am known by my peers as a coffee snob and this place will be a must stop anytime I am even remotely close to it. The owners are friendly and very pleasant to chat with. The outside seating is not dog friendly but with the cats on the premises it is understandable. Best coffee that we had in the Finger Lakes Region. We stayed on Seneca Lake, and I made it a point to try as much fresh coffee as possible. We got to Java Gourmet and were greeted by the owners. They were very friendly and welcoming. We got espresso and a seasonal autumn coffee which were both very fresh and flavorful. The owner spent time with us and discussed coffee-making, and she shared information and recommendations throughout the area. The building is very nice, and they have a good selection of products made by both their own company and some others. They do serve a somewhat limited breakfast and lunch menu, which we were unfortunately unable to try during our trip. While the menus are limited, the food sounded very good. Definitely worth going to for coffee in the Seneca/Keuka Lake region. read more

Love their coffee and beer/wine selection, and now they have tapas style food with the opening of their Black Cat Bistro in their new building. It's absolutely delicious. Their menu changes weekly and is all from locally-grown food. I can't wait to enjoy their deck when the weather gets better because they're right on the lake. Their restaurant portion only opened in the fall but I suspect it will quickly become a hotspot for all Keuka Lake visitors. Highly recommend. read more
