Vegan frittata that has no vegan egg substitute
    Karolina K.

Well, this is one of the few breakfast spots in St. Ignace, so we haven't had much choice. The coffee was very good and I'm happy they have dairy free milk. The breakfast on the other hand was very average, the vegan frittata comes now without vegan egg, so not sure what kind of frittata this is... you still have to pay the same price, so I asked if they can put some veggies as a replacement for the missing egg, and of course they did, but I learned from the bill that we charged extra... that is so unfair. It tasted ok, would definitely be better with the "egg". Husband got the traditional breakfast and it was ok too. The place itself is super cute and the staff was very friendly despite being very busy.

Restaurant was definitely busy and to be expected for a Sunday morning after church. We didn't wait too long for a table. The restaurant is small and you can tell it's a busy cafe. However the rest of the experience was subpar. Our waitress took a little while to come to our table. The table next to us sat after us and was greeted and got their drinks before our table had gotten greeted. We ordered our drinks and food all at the same time once our server had come to the table. We proceeded to wait 10+ minutes for our coffee to get to the table. We actually had to stop the waitress as she walked by to ask if we could get our coffee, to which she replied, "oh.." and went back and grabbed them. While we waited for our food for about 30+minutes, we proceeded to drink our coffee, never offered refills and rarely saw our waitress to be able to ask for refills. When the food came we just immediately asked for the bill and even though our cups were empty, still had to ask for coffee refills rather than being offered a refill. Food was good. The pancakes were good, the corn beef hash was good just a bit salty, and the waffle was nothing special. Might have been an off day since it seems like a busy, popular place but definitely was subpar.

I have been coming here for the past 20+ years, but I moved out of state and haven't been back in several years. It has gone downhill unfortunately. The vibe is still cute with a sort of "hippy" colorful theme. We got there and were told it would be a 20 min wait for our party of 3, which is no big deal. We got seated after about 20 mins of waiting. Again, not a big deal. However, after we got seated our server didn't come around for around 10 mins to greet us. Once she came around we ordered plain coffees and our breakfast at the same time. Our server then proceeded to what seemed like forget us. She finally walked by us another 10 mins later and we had to ask for our coffee. She brought us our coffee and we waited another 30+ mins for our food to come to the table (about 50 mins after we were seated). Our server never refilled our coffee until she gave us the bill. She never asked us or gave us water. The other tables around us that she was seating were also waiting for long periods of time. The pancake and corned beef hash were good. But, not worth the wait. The parking situation here is also very limited. The coffee here is excellent. If I were to come back, I would just to a to go coffee and eat somewhere else.

Wow - loved it! It's been at least 10 years since I've been to Java Joes. I had fond memories of that first time here. This time, my wife was with me. We shared the following: - Hobo Omelet with Hasbrowns and Sourdough Toast - Coconut French Toast We ordered the omelet as shared, which means it's split into 2 plates, each with hashbrowns and toast. It was so tasty. We packed half to take home. We asked that the French Toast be brought out later. Worked out perfectly. Amazing presentation and taste. Lunged the crunch of the griddle coconut and the flavor of the batter and the syrup. So good! As for service - 5 stars as well. Our server was pleasant and attentive. Much appreciated. Thanks Java Joes!

Busy cozy Java house I just ran in to check it out and grab a chai latte. The parking lot is small and full so I would suggest walking from your hotel. Kid friendly menu with coloring on the back.

Classic divey diner serving breakfast and lunch five days a week (closed Tuesday) Fun newspaper style menu packed with all your breakfast dreams. Eclectic decor on the inside and a fun mural outside Outdoor seating on the patio, too! Good size portions Super friendly staff and fast service! Located on the mainstreet just outside of 'town' What more do you need? Loved Java Joe's Cafe! The staff were personable, the service was timely and the atmosphere is so hip and fun! The family loved the eggs, pancakes, French Toast, omelettes and I especially loved the coffee. Highly recommend!

Oh Java Joe! What a character (the man behind the cafe). Stopped here on a recent trip to the area and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The inside is colorful and comfortable. It has an eclectic feel where you could visit several times and notice something new and different each time. On our visit were were admiring their expansive, fun, and funky teapot collection. I ordered a breakfast sandwich and a mocha. Both were wonderful. The mocha was decadent with whipped cream on top and was more dessert-like than I typically enjoy but matched so well with the entire vibe of the place that I didn't mind a bit. The breakfast sandwich was cheesy and wonderful. The service is outstanding. While we were there the owners were both in house and Joe walked around and chatted with all the customers. He's lovely as is his wife. Truly such a gem they have here! Get to it!

Been coming here for years and it's always been good. The original owner's son and wife took over this year. They made some upgrades inside and kept most of the menu the same. This is my go to and it did not disappoint!!! So good! Our server was the best- so funny and friendly. Make the time. It's small, local and fills up fast!

This has been a family favorite for years. Joe and Sandy created an amazing legacy, and have handed it to their lineage. I had the Denver Omelette from their amazing eclectic menu, which captures practically anyone's taste. My wife had the Greek Omelette, and my Mother-In-Law had the Vegetarian Frittata. No one walked away hungry, all the food was fresh, the service was amazing as they worked as a team to make it a great experience. If you are in St. Ignace, this is a must stop, they have amazing coffee, breakfast and desert. The music allows for conversation, and the patio and indoor dining provide an environment to have great conversations about your Northern Experience with Family and Friends alike. This spot has never disappointed and the food and service has not missed a beat. The legend is in good hands.

Simple unpretentious and quirky. Java joes is all of this! Oh I also forgo tasty. This little gem is located near the ferry to Mackinac island and serves up a tasty breakfast hitting all the spots. We arrived around 9 on a Saturday so the little restaurant was popping. Don't be afraid though they have fast service and move folks through quickly. The only build I can offer up to make things even better is to simplify the menu. Too many choices not only make it arduous for guests but slows down the kitchen. We waited about 30-40 min for 3 corned beef hash orders... however it was worth it! Delicious! Stop by

Stopped in for breakfast. There was short wait. Very fairly priced with an extensive menu. The menu even gave suggestions of things to do and places to explore, which was so nice! We both loved our food and service was good and quick. I also got the Vanilla amaretto latte which was sooo good. It is a small restaurant, so it was a bit cramped but totally worth it in our eyes. We got a cool shirt that was only 13$ and everything was very fairly priced. even got a complimentary magnet! Definitely recommend.

This place! Man where do I start...let's start with the hostess, I was actually afraid of her! No joke, super rude and not friendly and inviting at all! I can't stress enough how many times she kept saying to EVERYONE that walked in that everyone from the party must be present when she calls your name, because they do NOT hold tables here. So she calls my name, I was there without my husband who was literally walking back from parking the car, she goes to me "he better be, we don't hold up tables here, we need to be rotating them quick"! Umm ok. Our server was super nice and this review really has nothing to do with our server, food was meh, nothing to write home about, I had to add salt, pepper and hot sauce to my skillet, it was flavorless. Anyway, back to the show we got while we were waiting for our mediocre food. As we're chilling at the table the owner comes out to the table next to us and goes "were you guys here yesterday morning too? To which the guy: yeah, the owner: well you didn't leave us a tip and that was rude, and I wanted to let you know that kind of disrespect isn't tolerated here! Guy: umm we did leave a tip, cash on the table. Owner:no you didn't. OMG is this real life?!? He was beyond rude causing this scene in front of everyone seating in this tiny space, so of course he made the guy super uncomfortable and embarrassed him, note to the owner "WTH man, you're supposed to make your customers feel welcomed not jumping their throat for a $8 tip!" Not sure if the older lady at the hostess stand is the owner wife but I'm actually baffled on how they were able to keep this place opened for so long with their attitudes and the way they talk to their customers. Also (we were seated right by the door so we can hear the hostess talk to incoming customers) telling your customers to look over the menu while they wait for their table so they can order quicker so you guys can rotate your tables quicker isn't nice either! I felt like we were super rushed the entire time, they seemed to be so money hungry. Another good one was, someone walked in and asked what the wait is, and she goes to them, 20-45 minutes, but really I don't know, everyone's taking their time this morning umm ma'am I can hear you loud and clear, at least try to be more professional and nice. I know there aren't many options in this area for breakfast but this place is a absolute NO for us in the future, i rather have a granola bar and save the $65 I dropped here for a mediocre breakfast, a coffee I couldn't finish and a rude show we got!

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

Side salad is not special, but it gives a small balance to the heavy food to come. The rye bread is really good, can really taste the bread, nice crunch to it. The turkey meat is oven roasted dinner turkey slices, not the deli stuff. It's a good turkey Rueben. The hand dipped onion rings are good, nice and crispy. Some excess batter that neither of us wanted on our rings and picked off the excess fried batter from the rings. The stuffing is pretty good, a tad too salty, but still good. This one was beefy and melty, with caramelized red onions between two slices of rye bread. All of the burgers and sandwiches come with plain potato chips and a pickle spear. We also got a regular cheeseburger and bleu cheese burger. All of the burgers are served on a pretzel bun, which is not my favorite type of bun, but I wasn't eating those burgers, and the eaters didn't seem to mind. Chuckwagon has a small kids' menu (the Lil' Buckaroo's Menu), with four items on it. Your kids can choose from a pb & j sandwich, a hot dog, a grilled cheese sandwich and mac & cheese.
